Everyone tries to be just a little different from the outside norm. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact it would be better to be different so you can be noticed. With nobody wanting to be vanilla all the time, it is easy to get sucked into that mold, so it is important to remember to just be yourself. Even if some people do not seem to accept it, there are more than enough that are willing to let you in. Keep your chin up and stay who you want to be, because in the end, being yourself is really the only thing that you can control.
Listening to her parents fight once again, young Tina Shepard is trying to remove herself from the situation. Getting in a boat and floating out into the lake, she watches as her father comes out to the dock and tries to get her to come back. With the words ‘I wish you would die’ coming out of her mouth, something else happens as well. With the deck starting to fall apart with her father standing on it, Tina sees firsthand what she is capable of doing with her mind. As her father falls into the depths of the lake, never to been seen or heard from again, Tina must try to control this gift and keep others from harm. Returning to Crystal Lake years later with her new doctor, Dr. Crews, Tina is now enrolled in a program to try and get her better. Performing his experiments outside of the hospital, Dr. Crews is sure that he can help the young girl but has no idea what has happened around the lake in the past. Seeing a group of kids staying next store, the hope is to keep Tina away from distraction so she can harness this special psychokinetic power that she has shown time and time again. Throwing a matchbook with her mind, then starting it on fire when aggravating the girl, Dr. Crews knows that it is just a matter of time before she can do much more. But Tina does not want to be any part of it and goes out to the lake to try and bring her dad back but winds up unleashing someone that she has never heard of before.
Being underwater for years, Jason Voorhees has come back home and is looking for his next kill. Keeping an eye on things in the woods, he finds a young couple that is stranded and proves to be unstoppable once again. With only a metal spike, Jason takes care of business and moves on to a set of campers that are just looking to have a good time. With a new machete in hand, Jason is back to his old self after death again and looking to reclaim Crystal Lake for himself.
Back at the house, Nick, Melissa, Sandra, Russell, Eddie, Maddy, Robin, David, Kate and Ben are all waiting on Michael and Jane to show up for Michael’s surprise party but have been left in the dark. Not knowing the history, much less that anything bad has happened in the area recently, they are just looking to have a good time. Breaking off into their pairs, the group has plenty of time to get jiggy with it and Nick is looking for something better. Inviting Tina to the party, it is obvious that she is different from the rest and does not belong there. Not taking away from anyone in the group, Tina goes back home, but Nick does not want to see her in pain and tries to join her. Telling each other their stories, Nick is not frightened by what has plagued Tina all these years, in fact he would like to know more, but it may be easier said than done when Jason Voorhees is alive and well at Crystal Lake. Wow, I do not remember this one from my late blooming horror movie watching childhood days, and I know I definitely would have remembered that ending. With my favorite finale to date in these movies, I don’t know what could possibly top it. The movie still does not have the same appeal as the original one, but what it does have is an undead Jason killing at will and showing his power, along with a rotting body that cannot be stopped. This is the biggest and baddest Jason to date as he continues to gain his power and abilities and toys from his surroundings, and he faces something that he and many other villains have never seen before. That goes down as a plus in my book, now I want to make a list of psychic characters that I want to see him face off against, like Firestarter or Eleven, it could be a very cool showdown. I am finally starting to become impressed with the costume, as everything should be falling off of the killer and you get to see some of his battle scars from the past. Well, I guess this train does not stop yet, as I see there are just a few more Friday the 13th movies on the list. Stay Scared.

Written by John Edward Betancourt Truly, there is no greater compliment for an artist at any level, than when people come in droves to see their work. For it speaks to what they are able to accomplish as an artist and it is also a warm compliment to the quality of their work and well, as the years roll on and technology continues to evolve, it is becoming easier and easier to understand how much fans love something from an artist or a studio or network. For cold hard data is the compliment that all artists now seek, and it just so happens that Shudder and the artists responsible for the horror feature, V/H/S/99, received quite the wonderful compliment this past weekend. For the data for the film, revealed it to be the most watched film in Shudder’s illustrious history. Topping even that of its wildly popular predecessor V/H/S/94, and well… that is indeed a huge compliment to everyone involved, and it is proof positive that they all helped to put together a feature that is downright incredible and beloved by fans everywhere, and we here at NTG offer absolutely need to engage in a round of applause for a job well done, and to further celebrate this outstanding and well-deserved accolade, here all the details on this wonderful news, courtesy of Shudder. ‘Shudder Original Film V/H/S/99 -- the fifth installment in Studio71’s blockbuster V/H/S film franchise and the second to premiere exclusively on Shudder since the streamer revived the franchise last year -- debuted to record numbers in its opening weekend. Through its first four days of release, the film registered 28% more unique viewers than the previous record holder, V/H/S/94, which premiered on Shudder in 2021. V/H/S/99 also accounted for nearly 22% of all on-demand streams on Shudder during the same time period and was AMC+’s #1 most watched movie of the weekend. In V/H/S/99, a thirsty teenager's home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations. The film features five new stories from filmmakers Maggie Levin (Into The Dark: My Valentine), Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City), Flying Lotus (Kuso), Tyler MacIntyre (Tragedy Girls) and Joseph & Vanessa Winter (Deadstream). V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium. Shudder recently announced the greenlight of a sixth installment of the found footage anthology, V/H/S/85, with genre filmmakers David Bruckner (Hellraiser, The Night House), Scott Derrickson (The Black Phone, Sinister), Gigi Saul Guerrero (Bingo Hell, Culture Shock), Natasha Kermani (Lucky) and Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn), set to debut in 2023. “By every metric V/H/S/99 has been a wild success, with subscribers watching in record numbers and debating with each other on social media about which segment of the anthology was their favorite. We are thrilled that the revival of the series continues to be embraced by our audience, and already looking forward to next year’s V/H/S/85,” said Craig Engler, GM of Shudder. The franchise’s previous installment, V/H/S/94, also debuted to rave reviews from film critics, with The New York Times calling the film “a grisly, gory gem,” and a 90% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It can be hard to accept that myths and legends are actually built on something that was true in the past. With some research, you are able to find out for yourself where they came from, whether it be a burning beard or lightning striking twice. But you may want to be careful when checking up on these things, especially if you have a weak stomach, because when looking up the legend of a killer in your area, you may find that it is more gruesome than you can take. If you don’t want to believe that these stories are true, just remember to be mindful of them and the reason that they are being told.
After his brief stint at the Pinehurst halfway house, Tommy Jarvis wants to prove to himself once and for all that Jason Voorhees is actually dead. With a copycat donning the mask of the killer, it is finally time for Tommy to put the entire story behind him and incinerate the body so that it will not trouble anyone ever again. Arriving at the cemetery with his friend Allen, the two start digging and uncover the corpse of Jason as it continues to rot. Seeing the body only brings back bad memories for Tommy and he is ready to finish what he started many years ago. Pulling a steel bar off of the fence and driving it through the killer’s body, Tommy gets ready to add the gasoline when a couple of lightning strikes hit the steel and revive Jason Voorhees to his natural state. Barely getting away with his life, Tommy sees his best friend killed and heads to the police station to tell them what he has done. Sheriff Garris is not too pleased to see Tommy back in his town, especially after what happened at his previous facility. Only seeing that Tommy is looking to fight, he locks up the young man, but is surprised when his daughter Megan shows up with her friends. Not hearing from their fellow counselors, Darren and Lizbeth, the group is worried that something might have happened to them. Going to Camp Forrest Green, which was formerly Camp Crystal Lake, Tommy knows that Jason is behind the couple going missing. Telling his story that was only a legend to the new kids in town, Megan takes a liking to the stranger and wants to know more.
Being granted a pass to leave town, Tommy jumps in his truck and takes the Sheriff on a chase that ends at Jason’s grave. To his surprise, the grave has been filled in and now the young man looks crazier than ever. Taking him to the outskirts of town and releasing him, Garris can only hope that the Jarvis boy steers clear of his county, but when he gets a call about Darren and Lizbeth’s bodies being found, his mind turns dark. Knowing that Tommy will do anything to prove that Jason is alive and well and hunting, Tommy Jarvis has become suspect number one.
Megan and her friends Sissy, Cort and Paula are getting everything set up at Camp Forrest Green when Megan realizes she really wants to know more about this Tommy character. Staying at the Sheriff’s Office with her father the Sheriff, she hears about the bodies starting to pile up around the area. Not believing that Tommy is involved, she is lucky to get a call from him, but is shocked that he wants to stay in town and finish what he started. With a plan to return Jason to the lake at the camp that initially killed him as a boy, Tommy believes that it is the only way to stop the carnage. With the police force trying to find Tommy and bodies lining up in a direct path to Camp Crystal Lake, it will be a wonder if anyone is able to survive the undead wrath of Jason Voorhees once more. This was really the first Friday the 13th movie that truly showed in the story that it was a movie with all of the odd looks at the camera and witty dialogue about movies. I kind of liked it, especially after there was a movie without Jason killing the wicked. Just when I was starting to like the new counselors, they were gone too soon and the only one that mattered was Megan, with her little crush on Tommy throughout. I at least liked how the two played off of each other, and the silliness that ensued when Jason was finally spotted. With plenty of fun kills and the first time I have seen paintball being featured in a movie, it was a little bit refreshing that I could enjoy really a ‘story less’ movie with plenty of kills as the legend of Jason Voorhees has been reborn into a monster that nothing can stop. Something that each and every one of us hope for when we move out of our parent’s home and set out into the world, is to live a happy and fruitful life. One where we obtain everything we want and are able to handle any and every challenge that comes our way, and we honestly feel prepared to do so. Since our parents did their best to prepare us for a world that can be difficult at times and well… it doesn’t take long for us to learn that our parents and their lessons can only take us so far, and that the world will bombard us with unpleasant surprises. The kind where we will indeed struggle and suffer at times, and it will be up to us to pick up the pieces and do our best to get back on track and get what we want out of this life. But even then, that’s no easy task. Because some of the challenges we face are powerful in nature. To the point where they create lasting damage and outright trauma to our psyche. Which can come from something as random and chaotic as a natural disaster or losing a loved one to death. Both of which can haunt our dreams and our daydreams for that matter as well, prompting us to ponder upon how we heal. But what we don’t talk about enough, largely because to do so would acknowledge a problem… is that a lot of our traumas come from trusted sources. For instance, ugly moments in our childhood can create it and of course, meeting the wrong people in adulthood can produce the same. Especially when we engage in a toxic or abusive relationship. One where our partner tears us down physically or emotionally or even mentally. Which is so devastating and shocking, since we trust those persons completely at some point… that it rips our soul to shreds and leaves us a shell of our former self. Where the confidence we once boasted is gone and where we simply struggle to do things, we once found to be a breeze. For trauma is poison in nature and we are only now learning how to deal with it and its power and oddly enough, horror, the genre designed to terrify us, is trying to help us with that. As evidenced by an upcoming new film on Shudder entitled, Resurrection. Which is in brief, a story that revolves around a strong woman named Margaret who has a family and a great career and agency in everything she does. But the return of an old lover named David, who abused her badly back in the day, puts her into a downward spiral that she isn’t sure how to recover from.
Which is… a shockingly realistic plot for a horror film. Because that kind of terror and panic and collapse is something that anyone that has suffered through severe abuse and trauma can and will experience. Simply because this motion picture makes it clear that trauma isn’t something that easily goes away overnight. It is something that embeds itself into the very fabric of one’s being, and it hides in the nooks and crannies of the psyche and the mind, waiting and ready to be brought to the surface. And it tends to never leave us, and it is hard to be rid of, largely because we treat it akin to the common cold. As something you just gotta tough out with a little chicken soup and maybe a hint of therapy or a feel-good movie and that is of course… not how we fight trauma in the slightest and not how we ever become free of it.
But since our society believes that mental health issues are easily solved and because there is a stigma that surrounds victims and survivors of domestic abuse… many never seek those solutions and never work to be free of it. Which in turn creates a lingering power for trauma, one that will bring forth all kinds of trouble when it takes hold again. As evidenced by who Margaret transforms into when that trauma returns to the surface. Since we see her confidence slide and see terror control her day and she even lashes out at those she loves because she cannot reconcile or understand her pain and clearly needs help. But like so many, she refuses it and pushes forward to handle it her way, which leads to a wild and devastating ending to this story. One that haunts you in the manner that Margaret’s traumas haunt her. As to what exactly goes into that ending, we don’t discuss here, since it needs to be experienced. But what matters more is that this is an important horror film, for it puts trauma and its power on display here and creates a cautionary tale regarding it in the process. In that, those who suffer from it… will indeed go down a difficult road if they don’t confront it and solve it and remove its power the right way. Which is a road that is as tough as it gets, but worth it, since it teaches those victims… it was never their fault. They were simply caught up in the actions of the worst monster of all, man, and now they can be free, and it just so happens… that you don’t have to wait that much longer to see this powerhouse motion picture. For Resurrection is available to stream on Shudder now, and we hope you give it a look, because this movie matters, and starts an important discussion that we’ve held off having for far too long. ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Recap: ‘The Ruthless Pursuit of Blood with All a Child’s Demanding’10/24/2022 Written by Shae Rufe

A child is not a fix for a marriage. As Daniel pointed out, Claudia was not a Band-Aid for Louis and Lestat’s s*hitty marriage. Despite what either of them tried to make her. Louis did find Claudia half burned and on the verge of death, begged Lestat to save her, turn her like he did Louis. Claudia wasn’t intended to be a fix, Louis just wanted to have saved one person from that night. The night he caused riots and burned down the town. Claudia did get saved, as much as a 14-year-old can be. Turning her has consequences. Ones that neither Louis nor Lestat are ready for. Making Claudia a teenager instead of a child was a much-needed change from her original conception. Especially with what gets brought up later. Teens have impulse control issues, hormones rampaging their systems, and an insatiable hunger for more than just food. Claudia is a fascinating character. She is the combination of Lestat’s blood lust and Louis’ sensibility. She hunts with abandon, takes what she wants, is brutal in a way neither of them expected, but delights Lestat with her viciousness. Louis tries to dissuade her, tries to contain her. Claudia is oblivious to much of the inner workings of their family dynamic. She knows Daddy Louis and Uncle Lestat are romantically involved. She even asks how it works between them. Yet, she doesn’t question further. She says Louis is her favorite, but she knows she’s more like Lestat. Somehow, they work. They work very well together for 5 years. Containing a baby vampire, one that’s also a teenager, forever frozen at 14, would have its own challenges. Somehow it works. Claudia is a cover for the deeper issues between Lestat and Louis. Hiding the cracks and flaws with her distracting antics. Learning to hunt from Lestat and chastise Louis for his own tastes. It is something that keeps the family going. Everything is bright and shiny and happy with Claudia around. Until it isn’t. Until Louis’ mom dies, until the tense family reunion at her Wake. Until Claudia realizes she’s 19 but still looks 14. Then Claudia falls in love. Instead of killing three racist young women, she meets a young man and falls in love. In the heat of the moment, things get carried away. Heart break is one of the hardest pills to swallow. Even more so when you kill the person you love on accident. Claudia is more than distraught and there’s nothing to do. Nothing to console her. She is forced to watch as the love she had for such a short time is incinerated, turned to ash before her very eyes. Louis doesn’t approve and Lestat doesn’t care. The cold-hearted truth is they’re not humans anymore. Lestat has made that more than clear this whole time. He just doesn’t know how else to prove it to them. It’s the biggest contention between them all. That is until Claudia takes things into her own hands. Saved by Devils and called an Angel by the man she loved. Claudia waits until morning and presumably throws herself into the sun beam created by the skylight above the piano
Why bring Claudia up now? Why share her diaries? Why offer this glimpse into their life? Louis hadn’t brought any of this up at their first meeting. He’d never shared so openly. Why now? Louis claims it’s because he didn’t want to admit to all of it. After all, reading your child’s diary to find out you weren’t they parent you thought you were, is a painful truth not many would want to see let alone accept. Not to mention the pain she had been put through. They took a 14-year-old child and turned her into a vampire without her consent. Not that either of them likely had consented either. That’s not the point. They forced a way of life onto her without consideration. Lestat knew that she would be stuck at 14, with all that encompasses being 14. He still turned her anyway. All because Louis asked him to.
Claudia is the one who loses the most in this story. No matter how it’s spun. Claudia is a consequence that neither Louis nor Lestat will never admit to. Lestat continued to treat Claudia as if she was a normal baby vampire, trying to mold her into his image without recourse. Louis who blindly thought he could keep Claudia innocent, gentled her. Both seeing her as the daughter they could never have, a child Lestat didn’t even want. Claudia was a pawn in a game she had no idea was being played. Just a piece to be used, a prop to be played with, and nothing more. Written by John Edward Betancourt
Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 1120 of ‘The Walking Dead’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
When we last settled in to discuss the final season of the brilliant AMC series, The Walking Dead, we talked a little bit about the real possibility that Governor Pamela Milton was going to make our intrepid heroes pay and pay dearly for what happened to her son. For losing her darling Sebastian clearly snapped something within the delicate fabric of her mind and her psyche, and that cannot benefit anyone at the end of the world. Especially when the person that is reaching their breaking point and crossing that threshold is spoiled and accustomed to getting their way and sadly… it turns out that our concerns regarding that, were absolutely justified. For this week’s episode saw our heroes deal with Pamela’s fury, and that made ‘What’s Been Lost’ one stunning and incredible tale. Especially when one considers that at first, it appeared as though, things were going to be just fine. After all, Carol was preparing to gather up more supplies for the long road back to Alexandria and she was spending a few final precious moments with Ezekiel. Which really made it seem that perhaps Pamela had other fish to fry at the moment. But the sudden disappearance of Ezekiel and the fact that Carol was being chased by the same lackeys she spent time avoiding not that long ago, made it clear that Pamela was making a surprise power move and Carol needed allies and she needed them quick, and thankfully, she was able to run into Daryl Dixon and help him escape his would be kidnappers and/or assassins, and well… once they had a moment to breathe, it became apparent their family was in dire trouble. For everyone but the two of them appeared to be missing from the Commonwealth, prompting the two of them to spring into action and speak with the one person that would have an idea where Pamela would have taken their friends and family to: Lance Hornsby. A decision that brought them alongside a broken man. One that had seen terrors untold by feeding a member of the living dead. Making it appear as though, the rest of the Alexandria Alliance was lost to the wind, since Lance had that thousand-yard stare. But a quick and violence laden reminder of where he was and what he needed to do, snapped Lance out of it and once he was coherent, he asked for an escape so he could take Carol and Daryl to where the Commonwealth was keeping their family. Which they obliged and prompted headed off into the world with an enemy. While they were dealing with that, Pamela continued to make some stone-cold moves regarding her vengeance. For she asked Yumiko to basically do the unthinkable. In that, there would be a press conference later this day and Yumiko would be announced as the lead prosecutor of one Eugene Porter. So that justice could be served at last, and someone would pay the price for hurting her baby, and well… if she wanted to ever see her friends and family again… she would abide by this edict. A reality that left Yumiko in a dark and confused and desperate place. One where she tried to get answers regarding the location of her friends as well so they could all work together to free Eugene and leave this place behind once and for all.
But alas, that plan failed miserably, and she was seemingly left with no choice but to get in line and and commit Eugene to a horrific death sentence. Something he said he was okay with, but no one else was… because he did indeed deserve better after all this time, and the situation only got worse from there. For not only was Yumiko stuck in an awful place and unable to shake it, Carol and Daryl weren’t exactly faring well either. For Daryl was separated from his bestie during the escape, and everywhere that Hornsby and Carol went… she had to listen to his stupid nonsense. The kind where he went on and on about a second chance and an opportunity to make things right. The usual stuff you’d expect from a desperate man ready to say whatever was necessary to save his own hide.
Not to mention, the place he took them to when they were reunited, was nothing more than another attempt at extended freedom and life, since he let them know that he would guide them along the train tracks the Commonwealth used to move prisoners. Which truly made it appear that once again, our heroes were going to lose. For they were once more in the clutches of a monster that would drag this ordeal along to enjoy one more day of sunshine and Yumiko was hours away from doing the unthinkable and turning her back on what was right in this life and this world. But that’s the thing about these heroes. In that, they’ll only take losing for so long, and eventually… they will figure out a way to turn the tide in their favor and believe it or not… that happened here. Because when Yumiko vaguely overheard that Daryl and Carol were evading patrols left and right and escaping the clutches of units that thought they had them… she realized they’d make this right and were fighting for a better tomorrow again, so she should as well. Which is why she announced she would defend Eugene Porter in a court of law and expose the lies of the Commonwealth at last and Carol and Daryl… found their window to do things their way as well. Because Hornsby did say too much regarding the train and its destination. Enough to inspire these two to figure it out from here. Which meant that at long last… Lance Hornsby met his end at the hands Carol and Daryl, giving rise to a satisfying and downright hopeful ending to this tale. For Hornsby getting his has been long overdue, but it was of course worth the wait and truly fulfilling, and let’s be honest… there’s a real poetry to the fact that Carol and Daryl left him there to die and wake up dead. But more importantly, these two fierce fighters have a plan to free the people that matter the most to them, and it is only a matter of time before they catch up with their extended family and take the fight to the Commonwealth, and that made this… a magnificent episode when all said and done. One that once again locked our attention from beginning to end and left us hungry for more. Because at long last, the Commonwealth is about to learn, to quote/paraphrase Rick Grimes, whom not to f*ck with, and it will be supremely satisfying to see our heroes truly go on the offensive come next week. Until next time. Written by Scott Edwards
There are plenty of things that can happen in your life that can leave a scar that only you are able to see. It does not matter how big or small it is, if you know about it, it will stay with you forever. Even if you are able to heal most of it, once it gets grazed, even a little bit, it opens up into the wound that you never wanted to have open again. You can put up your barriers and try to protect yourself from the outside world, but every once in a while, something gets through and the heartache seems to begin anew.
Years after defeating the infamous Jason Voorhees, Tommy Jarvis has far from recovered. Being sent to the Pinehurst halfway house, he still cannot get past the memories of what Jason did to his family or that he was forced to kill the murderer. Arriving and meeting Pam and Matt, Tommy sees that this will not be much of a change from his last location, so he decides to keep to himself. Being greeted by young Reggie who likes to play with the inmates, Tommy sees that he is far from alone in the loony bin, but sees Jason’s face everywhere he turns. Getting a surprise visit from the deputy to return a couple of his patents, Matt tries to keep his cool as he gets an earful from Ethel whose land is right next door. Not wanting these troubled people near her home, she threatens to shoot the next one that makes his or her way over. Seeing that the old woman is finally starting to get violent, Matt will have to try his hardest to make sure that she does not get her wish granted. With everyone back and accounted for, a new day can finally begin, and everyone has their jobs to do.
In the back, Violet and Robin are working on laundry when Joey is looking for something to do. Wanting to help the girls out, he gets chocolate all over the clean sheets and is sent on his way. Seeing Victor taking out his frustrations on a piece of wood, Joey wants to give him a hand as well, but Vic is not having it. Listening to Joey complain about how unstable he is, Vic picks up his axe and puts it into the boy’s back numerous times causing a ruckus around Pinehurst. Seeing this from his room, Tommy is reminded once again of what he was forced to do to protect his sister many years ago and the vision of Jason is growing much stronger in his mind.
With one strange murder taking place, word has gotten out that Pinehurst may not be as safe as previously thought as two greasers are trying to get their car running again in the middle of the night. Being dispatched by a new threat, the killer is looking to evoke fear into the town’s folk once again. Making his way up the road to Pinehurst, the killer cannot be stopped. Arriving and taking his time with the patients and seeing that no one knows of his evil plan, piling bodies at his leisure puts him at ease, that is until young Reggie finds out what is happening around the house and sees that there is only one way to defeat the man in the mask. Well, well, well, another Friday the 13th movie after Jason was killed, how could it be? Well, if Jason can never die, that’s how, but I did not see him getting up from the beat down that Corey Feldman put on him in the last movie. Still following the same formula, people in an isolated place being murdered, I was a little upset that the mentally ill would be targeted by the killer, even though I did not catch what most of their issues were, they seemed like older kids throughout. Tommy was really the main focus of the movie, but he had very few lines and seeing what he was thinking about was a little different, but effective. Not being able to get rid of the scares that Jason caused him, I was sure that he would crack being put into his new home, but he seemed to keep his cool for the most part. I was sorry to see all of the good kids go, but not Ethel as she was a pain, and even though she had her reasons, damn she was a pest. I guess that the legend of Jason Voorhees is alive and well, since I see there is yet another movie in the series to watch. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards
It is hard to remember a time when I did not have a care in the world. I do remember the days when I was playing baseball with my friends and got my first concussion and then another time when I was playing baseball with my friends and got my second concussion, but those were the days I was supposed to be worry free I think. Never having a chance to really take full blown advantage of having a care free day is a little disconcerting to me now, since every day has a purpose and I never get to have a day off.
After a rough break up with her ex-husband, Mrs. Jarvis is happy to spend time with her kids, no matter what. Taking a jog with her daughter Trish, the two decide that it is time for the young girl to go and visit her father to make sure the family unit is still intact. Tommy, her son, on the other hand has found something that fills his time very well, so he does not have to worry about anything else, making movie quality monster masks. With everything seeming to be fine in the household, word comes across that there will be some new neighbors with them deep in the woods and the kids could not be happier. Looking forward to time away from the city, Jimmy is trying to get his head right after breaking up with his girlfriend. His buddy Ted is no help when talking to him about the situation, as he can only come up with one reason for the breakup; that Jimmy is a bad lay. Paul, Samantha, Doug and Sara are also along for the ride and want nothing but the best for their friend, but they are ready to make the best of their new situation with nobody telling them what to do around the house. With parties being planned in the future, the group is ready to let it all hang out and keep their friendship alive and kicking. The body of Jason Voorhees has been taken to the morgue at Wessex County and is ready to be processed with the other bodies he killed in cold blood. Not seeing anything out of the norm with the body, the coroner is surprised to see that the former serial killer has just been in a slumber and is ready to pick up the art of murder once again, starting with him. Being able to get out the hospital undetected, Jason just wants to get back home and will allow no one to stand in his way.
As Trish meets the new kids that have moved in next to her, she notices that they will be bringing something new to the small neighborhood. But when she sees their friends, the twins, skinny dipping she tries to distance her little brother from the distraction. Picking up a hitchhiker on the way home, Tommy and Trish are introduced to Rob who has a mission in the woods, to kill bears, or so he says. Tommy knows that Rob is holding out on him, but the older man will not allow his secret to break from his lips. Knowing that there is something vile in the woods, Rob sets up camp near the Crystal Lake and is waiting for someone or something to make its return appearance.
Returning home from a great time skinny dipping, the group and the twins continue their party, but now with plenty of alcohol. As Paul is trying to have a good time with his girlfriend Samantha, he is approached by one of the twins and cannot pass up a slow dance. Samantha, in a huff leaves the house and goes for a swim to relax her nerves, yet never returns back to the house. Paul tries to find out what has happened to his love, and when seeing that she has passed on tries to leave the lake, but yet again, there is someone there to stop him from ever returning. With no idea what is happening outside, the group begins to separate into its own little pairings, yet that does not keep the killer of Crystal Lake from taking his turn at them one by one. With no power and the fear that something bad is going down Trish tries to find Rob to see what he knows about what is going on in her previously peaceful woods. There is something to be said about this movie and I will say it, Corey Feldman was the greatest child actor ever! There I said it and I don’t regret it. When I saw his name in the credits, I knew he would be the key to the story, because it was the 80’s and he was always the key to any movie made in that decade. With that being said, it was fun to see the story revert back to the original storyline that made Friday the 13th so popular. Even though Jason does not have a filter on who to kill, the ones that are doing nasty things always seem to get it the worst. With this being ‘The Final Chapter’, I figured that I would be done watching this series, but there are more lining up behind it, so I guess I need to continue and I cannot wait to see how Corey Feldman plays into the franchise after this. Stay Scared. Editor's Note: The staff at NTG would like to extend our condolences to the family of Ted White. Ted played Jason Voorhees in this film and recently passed away, and he and his family are in our thoughts. May Ted rest in peace. Written by Scott Edwards Time and time again, people fail to heed the warnings that are placed in front of their faces and continue to be surprised by the outcome. No matter what you are doing, if something can go wrong and people warn you about it, there should be no surprise when it does. With so much knowledge around the world these days, even being right at your fingertips, you might as well use it, since others may have failed trying to do the exact same thing you have been doing. If you fail because you choose not to use this information, who can you blame other than yourself? With a fantastic weekend planned with her friends, Chrissy is going to take them up to her family’s cabin by the lake. Having Adam, Debbie, Shelly, Chuck and Chili in the van, one more stop for a full house needs to be made. Picking up Vera to accompany Shelly on his third wheel trip, the group is hoping that their boy will at least be able to keep Vera entertained. With plenty of little tricks up his sleeve for the weekend, Shelly has no doubts that he will be able to impress anyone that comes his way. Arriving at the cabin, Chrissy runs into her boyfriend Rick that wants nothing more than some quiet time together, but Chrissy is not ready for that just yet. Lending his car to the new love birds Shelly and Vera to get some food from the store, Rick thinks it will be a good thing, but finds out that this weekend will not go his way. While at the store, Shelly and Vera run into a biker gang that seems to be run by Fox and her boys Ali and Loco who are only looking for respect. Being able to escape the situation at the store, Shelly accidentally knocks their bikes over and starts a war that nobody is ready for. With the bikers looking for retribution for how they have been disrespected, Ali has a great plan to burn down the barn near the cabin. While working on syphoning gas out of the van, Fox finds all the goodies that a barn hides from the world, including a pitchfork through the neck. Finding his friend being hung up on the rafters, Loco meets his fate with a pitchfork through the gut. Seeing his friends are dead, Ali tries to fight back, but he is no match for the deformed killer who is thirsting for blood. Jason Voorhees has recovered from his last encounter that left him mask less, and he is pissed and is ready to take out his frustrations on the world. Making his way to the cabin, he runs into Shelly and Vera, putting a bow on their lives before anything can even begin. As Debbie and Adam finish up their little ditty for the evening, Jason will not allow them to leave without being punished as well. With people dying all around the cabin, Chrissy and Rick have no idea what is happening, only that things seem to be extremely quiet for as early in the evening that it is. Not being able to find their friends and looking outside, neither of them know what lies in store for them as the legend of Jason has come about once more. Not gonna lie, it took me a couple viewings to make it all the way through this one without taking a brief nap, but I finally think that I did it. The story just dragged and there needed to be either more killing or more blood to keep me intrigued as all of the love stories were just as silly as could be. But the best part of this movie is that the iconic Jason mask has finally been found and it is much cooler to see the goalie mask hunting the wicked of our generation, even if they are not wicked. With some great kills, pitchforks galore, classic machete kills and even an eyeball popping experience, it is not the best of the 13th movies by far, but if you are able to stay awake during it, you get to see stoners get axed.
