Everyone tries to be just a little different from the outside norm. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact it would be better to be different so you can be noticed. With nobody wanting to be vanilla all the time, it is easy to get sucked into that mold, so it is important to remember to just be yourself. Even if some people do not seem to accept it, there are more than enough that are willing to let you in. Keep your chin up and stay who you want to be, because in the end, being yourself is really the only thing that you can control.
Listening to her parents fight once again, young Tina Shepard is trying to remove herself from the situation. Getting in a boat and floating out into the lake, she watches as her father comes out to the dock and tries to get her to come back. With the words ‘I wish you would die’ coming out of her mouth, something else happens as well. With the deck starting to fall apart with her father standing on it, Tina sees firsthand what she is capable of doing with her mind. As her father falls into the depths of the lake, never to been seen or heard from again, Tina must try to control this gift and keep others from harm. Returning to Crystal Lake years later with her new doctor, Dr. Crews, Tina is now enrolled in a program to try and get her better. Performing his experiments outside of the hospital, Dr. Crews is sure that he can help the young girl but has no idea what has happened around the lake in the past. Seeing a group of kids staying next store, the hope is to keep Tina away from distraction so she can harness this special psychokinetic power that she has shown time and time again. Throwing a matchbook with her mind, then starting it on fire when aggravating the girl, Dr. Crews knows that it is just a matter of time before she can do much more. But Tina does not want to be any part of it and goes out to the lake to try and bring her dad back but winds up unleashing someone that she has never heard of before.
Being underwater for years, Jason Voorhees has come back home and is looking for his next kill. Keeping an eye on things in the woods, he finds a young couple that is stranded and proves to be unstoppable once again. With only a metal spike, Jason takes care of business and moves on to a set of campers that are just looking to have a good time. With a new machete in hand, Jason is back to his old self after death again and looking to reclaim Crystal Lake for himself.
Back at the house, Nick, Melissa, Sandra, Russell, Eddie, Maddy, Robin, David, Kate and Ben are all waiting on Michael and Jane to show up for Michael’s surprise party but have been left in the dark. Not knowing the history, much less that anything bad has happened in the area recently, they are just looking to have a good time. Breaking off into their pairs, the group has plenty of time to get jiggy with it and Nick is looking for something better. Inviting Tina to the party, it is obvious that she is different from the rest and does not belong there. Not taking away from anyone in the group, Tina goes back home, but Nick does not want to see her in pain and tries to join her. Telling each other their stories, Nick is not frightened by what has plagued Tina all these years, in fact he would like to know more, but it may be easier said than done when Jason Voorhees is alive and well at Crystal Lake. Wow, I do not remember this one from my late blooming horror movie watching childhood days, and I know I definitely would have remembered that ending. With my favorite finale to date in these movies, I don’t know what could possibly top it. The movie still does not have the same appeal as the original one, but what it does have is an undead Jason killing at will and showing his power, along with a rotting body that cannot be stopped. This is the biggest and baddest Jason to date as he continues to gain his power and abilities and toys from his surroundings, and he faces something that he and many other villains have never seen before. That goes down as a plus in my book, now I want to make a list of psychic characters that I want to see him face off against, like Firestarter or Eleven, it could be a very cool showdown. I am finally starting to become impressed with the costume, as everything should be falling off of the killer and you get to see some of his battle scars from the past. Well, I guess this train does not stop yet, as I see there are just a few more Friday the 13th movies on the list. Stay Scared.
