Written by ScottyFinding a trade that you are good at and can profit from is more difficult that it looks. You get to see so many people that appear to be happy at their jobs and good at them as well, but is it all an act? You need to find a way to get by these days, since there is always someone looking to take your place, no matter how much you dislike what you are doing. Put on a smile and do the best that you can to make sure you are secure, because if you are not, there is someone looking to feed off of your lack of success. In a small retreat there is something going on in the woods that no one can explain, except maybe Mr. Antoine who is running the hotel. There is a werewolf on the loose in the jungle, but there is nothing for his valued guests to worry about, as he has been able to wrangle up someone that can put the beast out of its misery. Although he will not be known to the rest of the guests at the resort, Mr. Lokai is the man for the job and is checking on each of his accompanying guests to figure out who the werewolf might be. Being propositioned by the actress, Janice Baird, Mr. Lokai might have bitten off more than he can handle, but the woman is never around when he is ready. Talking to each guest individually, Mr. Lokai is no closer to finding out who the beast could be, but he is still watching to see if anyone could possibly be slipping up. Seeing Mr. Hertz running into the jungle with a bag, Mr. Lokai believes he has found who he is looking for. Catching up with the old man and finding out that he has taken credit for killing another one of the hotels guests, Mr. Lokai is able to secure his gun and shoot the old man in the head. Thinking that his job is done, Mr. Lokai returns to the resort in high spirits, but when he gets a message that was meant for Mr. Rechek about Mr. Hertz being a Nazi, he knows that he has made a grave mistake. With only one more person in the hotel who could possibly be the beast of the night, Mr. Lokai starts to stalk around Janice’s room, but has no luck in finding her. As the night kicks in, Mr. Lokai has a secret of his own that he has been holding out on, for he is a werewolf as well. Killing a maid while searching the hotel, he finds that Janice Baird is in her room and she is something much different than he expected as she is also a beast, but not one that requires a full moon. Just a little werewolf story that does not disappoint. With everyone in the resort freaking about something that only comes out during a full moon, they seem to lose sight of what is important on their vacation. With the time away from their normal lives, they have been exposed to something they will remember for a lifetime. Trying to put the positive spin on for the resort since it seems to cater to only the special guests, and even those that come out to play when the sun goes down. Starring Timothy Dalton as Mr. Lokai, Dennis Farina as Antoine, Walter Gotell as Mr. Hertz and Beverly D’Angelo as Janice Baird. This is a star studded cast and if you are a fan of James Bond movies you get a little reunion with Dalton and Gotell going at it once again, but this time over a creature, not a stolen piece of Russian equipment. Until next time, Stay Scared.

Written by ScottyOne of the fears that we run into when getting older is no longer feeling relevant. It does not matter what your career is or what path you have walked, there is no escaping this feeling as there is always someone out there that is younger and doing it better than you ever did. I know it is hard to believe it, but it is true and we have to find a way to keep it from happening to us. With every breath that is left in our bodies, we will fight to reclaim what is ours and there will be nothing to stop us, except time that is. Joseph Renfield was the top puppeteer of his day and his show featuring his puppet Coco brought joy to children all over America. But times have changed and Joe is having problems keeping busy around the house and since his show is long gone, he needs to find another hobby than just talking with himself when trying to construct a new doll. Joe’s young wife Ellen is worried about her husband, since he does not seem to have the same life force as before and is begging him to get up and move around, but Joe is too tired to even care anymore, that is until get gets a letter asking him to do his Coco bit on a TV show. Joe feels like he is a kid again and cannot contain his excitement. Wanting to do something better than his old show with Coco, Joe has to find someone to help him with his new act. Not knowing anybody since becoming a hermit when he retired, Joe has to rely on his wife to find someone suitable. Ellen has someone in mind, but does not know if he will fit with her husband’s high standards. When young David arrives at the house, Joe puts him through the ringer will all of his questions and finds out that the young man in into electronic puppets, not the old stringed ones that Joe has worked with all of his life. With everything laid out on the table, Joe and David get to work and try to figure out their new concept. While Ellen does not want anything taken from the original show that her husband did so many years ago, David is just trying to add some youth to it. Having a blow up, Ellen leaves the house to go to her acting class, but the date does not seem right in Joe’s mind. Finding out that her class dates have been changed for over a year, Joe fears for the worst that his lovely bride has been cheating on him. Digging through her drawers, Joe finds a letter from her lover and has to look inside of himself to figure out what to do. Coco is telling the old man that he should handle the situation with vengeance, but when he sees what one of his dolls is doing to his wife, Joe may never be the same again. A tale of woo between Ellen and her new lover while poor Joe is just trying to get along at home. Not only wanting to be back on the small screen, Joe needs it to keep himself from getting lost in the basement and working on his dolls that may never see the light of day. It is sad to see where he has ended up, but he is living the dream with a stunning young wife and a legacy that will never end. Starring Donald O’Connor as Joseph Renfield, Patricia Charbonneau as Ellen and Zach Galligan as David. As this episode plays out, it is entertaining to see how Joe changes his attitude and how much he wants to be the man of old, but knowing that David is just that much younger, leads to one unexpected ending. With just a simple gesture, you can brighten someone’s day and make them feel like a million dollars. Now if this is for your benefit, or the other person’s, that is the real question. Some of the best con men around have this trait down and even though they do not ask for anything in return for a good deed, they are looking for the bigger score. If you are able to tell that this is happening to you may be one of the reasons why people do not trust anyone, regardless if they are trying to help or not. Jack is in love with money and he can never seem to get his hands on enough of it. While sitting at the bar in a casino, he helps out a poor gambler that is about to be out of large sum of money that needs to be reserved for his son’s operation. Jack is keeping track and tells the man to hit on nineteen when playing Blackjack and guarantees a two will come up. Even though he is a stranger, the gambler hits and ends up winning a lump sum of money. Jack does not want anything in return from the man when offered, but does offer the man a chance to invest in an up and coming business that will triple his money in no time. Walking out with ten thousand dollars, Jack is even happier than before and puts his money to good use. While finishing up with his call girl, Jack gets very nostalgic and tells her about the only love that he really has in his life, twins. With his car breaking down in front of a large, eccentric house, Jack tries to get inside and use the phone. Being greeted by April Blair who is pointing a gun as his head, Jack is amazed to see that she has a sister, a twin sister. When June joins the commotion, Jack is able to fall back on his knowledge of the architect behind the ugly house's history. With this being the young women’s father, Jack is in the game and will not end it, since the Blair sisters are filthy rich. Getting the girls out of their seclusion, Jack has only one thing on his mind…the money. Needing to find a way to separate the Blair’s from their inheritance, Jack comes up with a plan to woo them both and comes up with a killer lie that can make all of his dreams come true. Pretending that he has a twin brother, Jack assumes both roles and is able to marry both of the woman. Since he and his brother have to trade off duties overseas, they will never be seen together, but something that he should have paid attention to that the girls told him, they share everything. Jack believes that everything is going fine in both of his marriages, but when he gets a closer look in a locked cabinet, he finds out what really happened to the twins father as he has chosen his own fate. One person cannot always do it all and that I agree with. Jack tries to string himself too thin in this episode, but he does not care since there is so much money on the line. Wanting it all, he gets a little bit careless and that is what will cost him his fortune in the long run. When the deal seems like it is too good, what should you do? I say you should run for the hills, since nobody’s luck is ever that good. Starring Joe Pesci as Jack, Jacqueline Citron as April Blair and Kristen Citron as June Blair, it is great to see two actual twin sisters get the role, no matter how demented it may seem. Even though the thought and temptation is out there, one of the biggest fears I would have with dating twins is what if I cannot tell them apart. It can prove to be very difficult! I honestly believe I would be happy working in a library or a book store, since I enjoy reading so much, along with not having someone telling me that I need to look at a computer screen over a book on the counter. With loving so many types of stories, I would be at home in these places, and even with all of the books I would never enjoy, there are more than enough to keep me occupied for many moons. Margaret is the new clerk in the local library and trying to enjoy her job. But there is one problem with her location as she is in a city that is full of crime. Not knowing who to trust, much less if she is able to talk to anybody, she has found solace in her new job. Working with Mrs. Pritchard and the library’s guard Grady, Margaret feels safe enough in her surroundings, even though she gets bossed around to get things done that are not her job. After having to kick out some young men, Margaret gets caught up in the newspaper headlines that state there is a ‘Maniac at Large’. Knowing how dangerous the city is, especially at night, Margaret is not too afraid to leave, but after finding out that she is going to have to work late without Grady, she starts to question what is happening inside of the library’s walls. When the hours grow late and the library starts to slow down, Margaret is approached by Pipkin, a young man that is very interested in the killings that have been happening in the city. Wanting to check out a reference book which cannot leave the building, he is disappointed, but that does not mean anything to the new clerk and her boss. Getting yelled at by Mrs. Pritchard, Margaret is forced to take some artwork down to the archives in the basement, but something happens that she has never expected. A knife welding man is in down there and stabbing something, or someone. Calling Grady to help her, she finds that the guard is drinking on the job, but there is no one else down there as well. Telling Mrs. Pritchard about what she has seen, the older woman does not believe her new clerk and thinks that the stories about a serial killer around town is playing tricks on her mind. Knowing that she is not crazy, Margaret tries to lock up the library, but Pipkin is still inside with her. Telling her what he believes about the deaths around town and almost being able to put his finger on who the killer actually is make Margaret feel very uncomfortable. Sending him on his way, Margaret is left on her own, but that is when everything starts to go haywire. Being frightened by people at the door and now by her boss, Margaret has to find someone that she can trust once again, before everything spirals out of control. This is an amazing tale that shows you how easily your mind can be subjected to its imagination. I like watching as Margaret is trying to keep it cool, when she knows that the world is falling down around her. Not knowing who she can trust, she thinks that Grady is her best resource, but finding out that he is drinking on the job, she quickly has to move away from him. Wanting to know who was in the basement, defacing library resources, along with who the killer in the city is, that is taking out homeless men at will, and who this Pipkin is, who is beyond fascinated with killers over the years, Margaret is close to losing herself to the stories that have infected the streets outside. Starring Blythe Danner as Margaret, Salome Jens as Mrs. Pritchard, Clarence Williams III as Grady and Adam Ant as Pipkin. This is a great thinker episode, as you want to believe that you know who the killer is, but may be disappointed that you were wrong as the book closes. Until next time, Stay Scared. |
