It is hard to remember a time when I did not have a care in the world. I do remember the days when I was playing baseball with my friends and got my first concussion and then another time when I was playing baseball with my friends and got my second concussion, but those were the days I was supposed to be worry free I think. Never having a chance to really take full blown advantage of having a care free day is a little disconcerting to me now, since every day has a purpose and I never get to have a day off.
After a rough break up with her ex-husband, Mrs. Jarvis is happy to spend time with her kids, no matter what. Taking a jog with her daughter Trish, the two decide that it is time for the young girl to go and visit her father to make sure the family unit is still intact. Tommy, her son, on the other hand has found something that fills his time very well, so he does not have to worry about anything else, making movie quality monster masks. With everything seeming to be fine in the household, word comes across that there will be some new neighbors with them deep in the woods and the kids could not be happier. Looking forward to time away from the city, Jimmy is trying to get his head right after breaking up with his girlfriend. His buddy Ted is no help when talking to him about the situation, as he can only come up with one reason for the breakup; that Jimmy is a bad lay. Paul, Samantha, Doug and Sara are also along for the ride and want nothing but the best for their friend, but they are ready to make the best of their new situation with nobody telling them what to do around the house. With parties being planned in the future, the group is ready to let it all hang out and keep their friendship alive and kicking. The body of Jason Voorhees has been taken to the morgue at Wessex County and is ready to be processed with the other bodies he killed in cold blood. Not seeing anything out of the norm with the body, the coroner is surprised to see that the former serial killer has just been in a slumber and is ready to pick up the art of murder once again, starting with him. Being able to get out the hospital undetected, Jason just wants to get back home and will allow no one to stand in his way.
As Trish meets the new kids that have moved in next to her, she notices that they will be bringing something new to the small neighborhood. But when she sees their friends, the twins, skinny dipping she tries to distance her little brother from the distraction. Picking up a hitchhiker on the way home, Tommy and Trish are introduced to Rob who has a mission in the woods, to kill bears, or so he says. Tommy knows that Rob is holding out on him, but the older man will not allow his secret to break from his lips. Knowing that there is something vile in the woods, Rob sets up camp near the Crystal Lake and is waiting for someone or something to make its return appearance.
Returning home from a great time skinny dipping, the group and the twins continue their party, but now with plenty of alcohol. As Paul is trying to have a good time with his girlfriend Samantha, he is approached by one of the twins and cannot pass up a slow dance. Samantha, in a huff leaves the house and goes for a swim to relax her nerves, yet never returns back to the house. Paul tries to find out what has happened to his love, and when seeing that she has passed on tries to leave the lake, but yet again, there is someone there to stop him from ever returning. With no idea what is happening outside, the group begins to separate into its own little pairings, yet that does not keep the killer of Crystal Lake from taking his turn at them one by one. With no power and the fear that something bad is going down Trish tries to find Rob to see what he knows about what is going on in her previously peaceful woods. There is something to be said about this movie and I will say it, Corey Feldman was the greatest child actor ever! There I said it and I don’t regret it. When I saw his name in the credits, I knew he would be the key to the story, because it was the 80’s and he was always the key to any movie made in that decade. With that being said, it was fun to see the story revert back to the original storyline that made Friday the 13th so popular. Even though Jason does not have a filter on who to kill, the ones that are doing nasty things always seem to get it the worst. With this being ‘The Final Chapter’, I figured that I would be done watching this series, but there are more lining up behind it, so I guess I need to continue and I cannot wait to see how Corey Feldman plays into the franchise after this. Stay Scared. Editor's Note: The staff at NTG would like to extend our condolences to the family of Ted White. Ted played Jason Voorhees in this film and recently passed away, and he and his family are in our thoughts. May Ted rest in peace.
