Written by Scott Edwards It is never fun when you have to move to a new place where you have to start over again. As everybody in town knows more about things than you do, it is hard to fit in. Trying to make friends can be difficult, but if you have some information that can help someone out, it does become easier. Then if you live in a house where strange things have happened, well, there may be a line of folks wanting to come and check it out since they only know what they read in the paper, but have never been inside. Moving with their mother Susan, Dane and Lucas are in their new home and trying to get a lay of the land. Losing their father, Dane has had a hard time adjusting to the new situation and since they seem to move every couple of years, he does not want to make any relationships in his new town. But when looking out the window, Dane sees his neighbor Julie, and while still not wanting to get involved, Lucas will make sure he gets the introduction. While showing their brotherly love, Dane tries to stay closed off from the world and takes his little brother down to the basement. But what the boys find there will change their outlook on the house forever. Finding a trapdoor with locks all around it, the boys open it to find that it leads to a bottomless hole. Julie is interested in this as well and finds her way into the basement to see what the boys are investigating. With no bottom in sight, Dane lowers a video camera into the depths, but does not get ample time to check the footage when his mother comes home. Thinking that everything is fine, Dane and Lucas go on with their everyday lives, but they have released something from the darkness. As a clown doll finds its way onto Lucas’s bed, he believes that it is his brother playing tricks on him, but when the clown attacks him in the basement, Lucas knows that there is something sinister to the hole, even though Dane will not listen to him. Trying to keep the door to the hole closed, the boys find out that there is nothing that can keep it shut outside of the locks that they cannot find. While Julie listens to the stories about what is happening around the house, she knows of one man in town that might actually know what is happening. Creepy Carl lived in the house before Dane and Lucas and even though she never went inside, she did hear the old man screaming while he lived there. Visiting the old man, the group hears that they have unleashed something evil and it will kill them all but think that the old man is off of his rocker. After finding Dane’s sketch book in his shop, Creepy Carl stars to draw frantically as the darkness is coming to get him but he is taken before he is able to finish. When Dane finds the book, he starts to check out all of the drawings inside but cannot make heads or tails of what it means. After witnessing his little brother almost being drowned in Julie’s pool, Dane believes that there is something after them and must find a way to stop it before it is able to kill everyone in the house. I am a sucker for horror movies that play on your fears and this one does just that. I let the PG-13 rating deter me from watching this movie for some time, but when I actually looked at who directed it, I had to watch. It may not have the blood and guts that get some people into movies, but it does play on the inner fears of the characters, which is pretty frightening, especially when they have something to hide. To be honest, I could not stand Dane throughout as he consistently tortured his little brother, but when it mattered the most, he let his true feelings come out and would help Lucas. Creepy Carl stole the show as I freaking love Bruce Dern as an actor, even though it was a small role, it made me smile to see him again. As far as non-rated R horror movies go, this one is not half bad. I liked the storyline best of all as everyone had their own past that they were trying to hide from, but there is no hiding from the hole. Stay Scared.

Written by Scott Edwards One of the things that I remember from high school is working on special reports. While we were given an outline of what the report should be on, it was up to us to make the choice of what the report would really be about. Always trying to find something out of the ordinary to research, my reports were always off the path and completely different than anyone else in the class. I don’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, but it is the way that my mind works and at least my teachers appreciated the originality. Julian Miller has found something that he is extremely passionate about for his report on what changed the community. Finding out about a murder that took place in his town by Harlan Diehl, it seems to be right up his alley and he has gotten his friends to join him in making a little documentary about it. Being able to use a friend’s house for the weekend, Julian is well on his way to making this project out of this world, but there is still something missing, the original footage that was shot after the murders took place fifteen years ago. With help from his friend Quinn, Julian might be able to get what he wants, but it will come at a price unknown to him. Quinn works down at the local television station, but he has a side job of placing hidden cameras all around town, especially in places where young girls reside. Passing on the footage to Officer Frank Lyons, Quinn has a good deal going. Being able to pull himself away from what Lyons expects from him, Quinn is able to search the archives and find some of the footage that Julian asked him for. Finding an uncut take from the day after the murders, Quinn sees Harlan Diehl and after that, his entire life changes. Becoming possessed by the ghost of Harlan, Quinn is now on the hunt for more answers and wants all of the police footage from the murders that he committed. Trying to blackmail Officer Lyons into getting it for him, the possessed Quinn is ready to play hardball and has found that he has a different talent. Being able to possess other people through live feeds, Quinn has his sights on finding out who is the direct decedent of Harlan Diehl. But Julian is not too far behind as his studies into the murders have left him digging for more information before his report is due. Finding out that Harlan is a decedent of Louis Le Prince, the father of video, Julian becomes privy to information about the old inventor and what his goals really were. Knowing what is coming for him and his friends, Julian has to find a way to get the untamed spirit out of his friend Quinn, before time runs out on everyone that he loves. As far as possession movies go, this one came out pretty good. I was thinking after the videos started to flicker that it was going to be more like The Ring, but then the possessions started, and the story took a different path. You have got to love the interactions between all of the kids and how they thought that Quinn was old and creepy. The drive that Julian has is what moved the story forward and not being happy with the information that was found in the normal papers made you like and hate him at the same time. As different members of the group became possessed, it was fun to watch as the Diehl crime scene was slowly recreated from scratch. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards There are some people that believe in the paranormal and others that do not. There may be no right answer to this discussion since everyone has their own point of view. There are some skeptics that only need to witness proof to get them onboard, but many others will never accept that there is something beyond our realm. I am open for most things and if someone is able to prove their point to me, I am willing to see things from their side, but if they have a weak argument, that calls me stupid for not believing, it will never happen, no matter what. After the release of The Ouija Experiment, the actors have taken to the road to promote the movie, along with making a little bit of extra money on the side. While their movie has become a cult hit, Eric Window, Justin Armstrong and Swisyzinna are living it up and meeting their fans face to face. Now in a small town the group has agreed to help run a haunted house event for the historic Ritz Theater. Even though everyone is not completely on board with the idea, they are willing to join in and humor their fans for one long night. With Danny Grey running the event, he is overly excited to scare all of the people in his town and now with the cast from a horror movie on hand, it cannot fail. And the haunted house is not the only treat on this night, since he is offering an overnight stay in the theater with the cast from The Ouija Experiment for a special guest and two friends, and nothing could be better than that. Since Michelle has won the special package, she needs someone else than just her friend Drew to come along for the scares and invites Margo who has deemed herself as the town's outcast. But nothing could possibly go wrong in the theater since it will be locked down and the haunting in the building is just a story to scare the townsfolk, right? Justin and Eric believe that until they are stopped by the Sheriff on their way to the theater. Hearing about a crazed monster that will kill people and feed off of them until it is full, the two actors think it is just hogwash, but it sticks in the back of Justin’s mind. What nobody in the theater knows is that while trying to impress a girl by using a Ouija board, Eric left the session without saying ‘Goodbye’, leaving a portal open, which is exactly what happened in their movie. As Justin walks around the building with his video recording glasses, he sees the ghost that will be haunting them for the evening, but before he is able to relay this information on, he is flung off of the balcony to his death. Thinking that the actors are just messing around and not showing up, Danny goes on with his haunted tour of the old theater, but now with a spirit released, it will truly show how dangerous a haunted house can be. This movie is the first sequel to a found footage movie that I have seen and reviewed. I am not going to stay that is a bad thing, but it is different, and I can see it not being well received. The story was fun and being to several horror conventions and seeing how the actors are loved by the fans, it sat nicely with me. The haunted house idea was decent, but when the Ouija board was taken out and played with, well, I have a hard time believing that any of the actors would be okay with reliving their movie experience. I was not a fan of the special effects as it was just a puff of smoke that frightened people, I would have rather gone with the jump scares that made the first movie more special. Outside of that, I enjoyed jumping back down the Ouija rabbit hole and still will try to avoid a Ouija board at all costs. Not saying that they are real or fake, but I will be happy to learn from someone else’s mistakes when it comes to that. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards Wanting to understand what really happens to people after they die is something that has been questioned for the longest time. Not knowing if there is life after death could be one of the reasons why many people fear death. Fear of the unknown makes people act strangely about the subject and although there are plenty of people that believe there is something waiting for them at the end of their days, there are others that do not believe there is anything ,and that we fall into nothingness. Brandon and Shay are heading over to their friend Michael’s house to record something out of the ordinary. Brandon is looking to make the grade in his film class by being able to record anything that will show his professor how good his skills behind the camera really are. Meeting up with their friends Michael, Calvin and La'Nette, Brandon is surprised to see that they will be playing with an Ouija board for the night and wants to film the entire experience. As the group sits around the table and asks for someone to respond, they are greeted by a young girl named Gracie who died when she was only five years old. But they come to discover that she is not the only spirit in the house with the group on this night, when a new spirit named Lisa says hello and tells the group to fear the other entity that is hanging around the house; Joseph. Making contact with two spirits on the first night, the group seems happy and remembers to say goodbye to end the session as they need to do, but promising to come back and contact the dead the following night may have been their biggest mistake. As Michael and LyNette are able to make contact the next night, Shay comes in and asks the spirits questions about her relationship with Calvin. As the board speaks the truth about Calvin’s cheating ways, personal issues come into play and the group leaves the board open without saying goodbye which could leave the gateway open to the other side. Thinking that they can say goodbye the following night, everyone heads back home, but strange things start to happen in the form of sounds and glimpses of people that are not really there. The group tries to get together to close the connection once more, but when the spirits have been released into the realm of the living, little can be done to push them back. The Ouija Experiment follows a group of friends that are just trying to have a good time with the ancient board. With some believers and some skeptics, they have a promising first night and with answers coming through that seem to be correct, there is little left to the imagination about it working. Getting distracted the second night while trying to contact the spirits has changed the lives of the group completely as someone or something is starting to harass each of the members in their respective homes. Not knowing how to end the hauntings that they have brought forth upon themselves, additional research is done on the dead that they are communicating with and a new mystery has been unlocked. After releasing the spirits into the realm of the living using the board, they have to find a way to send them back, before the dead get strong enough to harm the living. With all of the mystery that surrounds Ouija boards, it is just great to have a movie come out that explains the dangers that could come with them. It does not matter who is moving the indicator piece, if the answers that come from it seem to be true enough, there may be something more powerful at work. The movie gives you a good insight of what could go wrong if you do not follow the rules and accidentally aid a demonic spirit that is trying to make it to the land of the living. Stay Scared. Because we have managed to design laws and a moral code that prompt us to think first before we indulge our temper or the dark thoughts that we sometimes have, and that’s a good thing. Because when we are genuinely angry or upset, and able to stew upon what just happened and who or what harmed us, we can go to some supremely dark places mentally. Which is something that none of us like to admit to, because that would be an admission of the fact that we indulged the darkness that resides within our souls, breaking the rules of the modern world and the morality our parents taught us, and being cognizant of that, tends to bring us back into the light. But while most of us let our imagination take us to a disturbing place, one that our conscience heals and reconciles later on, there are some folks out there… who reach a point of no return in regard to the darkness. And these are the folks that we see on the six o’clock news, the ones who seem ‘normal’ and have never committed a crime in their lives, and now here they are, making headlines for assaulting or outright murdering someone they know and/or love and these are the kind of crimes that fascinate us. Because if we can let our anger burn out and step away from a decision that will we forever regret, why couldn’t that person? And it just so happens, that the next episode of Creepshow, takes the time to ponder upon why people indulge the darkness within, and what it explores in regard to this topic, is both fascinating and quite tragic. For instance, ‘The Companion’ takes the time to point out that sometimes people turn to violence and/or murder, because they are in an inescapable and hopeless situation. One where they are dealing with excessive emotional or physical abuse, or both, on a consistent basis. Something that shatters their psyche and brings them to a point so low, that if the opportunity to end that abuse in extreme fashion presents itself, they are going to take it. But while this tale prompts the audience to feel for young Harry and his horrible plight, what makes this story so powerful, is that it reminds us that man is the greatest monster of all, by putting mankind’s cruelty on display. And what is also unique about this tale is that, in a way, the Scarecrow serves as a physical manifestation of the darkness we carry. All of which makes this quite the moving and cerebral tale. But as this series is wont to do, it also took the time to show us a contrasting situation, which made ‘Lydia Layne’s Better Half’ quite the disturbing story. For this particular tale more or less examines how the human ego can sometimes get in the way of logic and motivate us to do something supremely stupid. As evidenced by how angry Lydia became over the possibility of having her illustrious image tainted by a jilted lover named Celia, and the fact that she violently brought about Celia’s end when it seemed as though, that prospect would come to fruition. But what truly made this worth our while, is that it managed to inject a little guilt into the narrative. Something that was handled in horrific fashion of course, but it served as a fine reminder that most people aren’t equipped to mentally handle something as awful as murder, which is why so many crimes in this manner are solved easily. Since the offender can’t live with the act. Yet while all of these elements made for some powerful commentary on the human condition and the cruelty of the world we live in, we do need to take a moment and peel away from the deeper meaning of this episode and celebrate its accomplishments from a technical standpoint. Because the special effects are simply a marvel in this tale, since the Scarecrow is a horrifying creation, something akin to a nightmare. And everything that happens with Celia’s corpse in the elevator is supremely unsettling and horrifying, adding tension to a simple scene. Something that is wonderfully enhanced by Tricia Helfer’s (Lydia Layne) outstanding performance, since she sells the terror and the guilt that Lydia is currently going through as she works toward escaping her conscience and her future tomb. If anything, the episodes simply keep getting better as the season rolls on, and that’s quite the impressive feat. Because the first four vignettes in this adventure through terror were already top notch. But to offer up a pair of vignettes that explore a taboo topic is a stroke of genius storytelling wise, and it really does speak to the fact that this iteration of the series wants to do something supremely different with anthology horror, all while staying true to its roots. Because this particular tale was also quite keen on offering up homages left and right to Creepshow and Creepshow 2, which was a wonderful treat for certain. In the end however, this series just continues to impress, since it offers up the perfect balance of horror and commentary and truly, it will be quite the treat to see what concepts and notions next week’s episode is going to dive into. Until next time, kiddies. Written by Scott Edwards After getting a new job, your stomach is always filled with butterflies, especially on your first day. Having to be shown the ropes may seem tedious to some people, but it is essential to know what you are doing. Wanting to fit right in from the get-go is the plan, but it does not always work that way as your new co-workers might be completely different than your past ones, and you never know who you can talk to or who you are allowed to joke with. Getting to know your new building, your co-workers and especially your new kitchen is essential, since these are the things you will be forced to depend upon when the spit hits the fan. Streak has arrived at her new job as a night time security guard at an abandoned apartment complex. Getting a quick tour from her boss, she gets a good look at the lay of the land and makes her way to the control center and meets her partner for the night, Cooper. After brief introductions, Cooper tells the young guard that she will be gone by the end of the week, since she is not made out for this kind of work, but knowing that she has to make it, for herself and her daughter, the job will be hers until she decides to leave. Getting fed up with Cooper’s commentary, Streak takes her first patrol around the building but gets trapped in the elevator. As Cooper is harassing her over the radio, Streak hears something strange outside of the car and thinks that there is someone else in the old building. While looking around and seeing how beautiful the rundown building really is, she is surprised that nobody has ever lived there. Cooper knows the history and lets her know that it was due to lack of funding and the building was never fully completed. Returning to her post after the first patrol, Streak finds out that some of the cameras are not working and decides to try and fix them to Cooper’s dismay. Proving the older guard wrong, Streak finds a locked door in the basement and believes that there is someone behind it. As a storm is moving in, Cooper and Streak get an uninvited guest when a homeless man comes banging on the door. Jim just needs a place to stay the night with his dog and promising to be no trouble, but he is a little bit off of his rocker. Streak returns to the locked door and is able to open it and enters the bowels of the old building and has a feeling that she will find someone living in it. Seeing things, she cannot believe, she gets trapped in the bunker and only Cooper can save her from certain death. Returning to her post once again, Streak pulls up the history of the building and finds out it was a medical ward and all of the orphaned kids were banished to the basement without help of any sort. Now knowing that there are ghosts in the basement, Streak needs to shut the door before they are able to take over the building, but Cooper has other ideas and does not believe what his rookie is telling him… at all. This movie had me glued to the television after I saw who was playing Cooper. Then the interactions between Cooper and Streak were just fantastic and I could not believe how many daily conversations could be crammed into one night shift at this building. I really dug the history of the building and what happened in the basement so many years ago and how it really captured my imagination about what might happen to the characters if the ghosts got out. The ending however seemed to have gotten away from the filmmakers as you jump from rabbit hole to rabbit hole and see the same old things and pray that the movie does not end how you know it will. I am not a fan of double or triple twist endings, so this one felt pretty blah to me, but some people like that, so I will not try to steer them wrong. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards No matter who you are, you always need to escape life for a day, a week, a month or even a year. But one shouldn't just take a vacation from work, you should take a vacation from it all, and with so much technology at our fingertips, sometimes you just need to let it all go. You may find that you like the escape so much that you might never want to come back from it, but alas, we all have bills to pay, so it may not be long enough, but some time away is better than none. It is easy to find the perfect place to go visit while taking your break, but as The Happy House shows you, no place is ever perfect. Joe and Wendy are at their breaking point and need to get away from the city for a vacation. While Joe is able to find an adorable Bed and Breakfast, Wendy is not too happy about the idea, she would rather just stay in a hotel for a couple of nights. Trying to convince his wife that it will be a blast, Joe gets lost on the way to the B&B, but there is only one road, so the couple will be sure to find it. Pulling up to The Happy House and seeing how secluded it is from the world, Joe is glad he made the decision, but Wendy is still having a hard time dealing with it. Being greeted by Hildie, Joe and Wendy are made to feel at home, but this home has a page full of rules that need to be followed or else a strike is handed out to them. Meeting a fellow guest Mr. Hverven, he warns the couple that the rules must be followed at all time and Hildie’s son Skip is always on the lookout to report violators to her. As Hveren has received his third strike, Wendy is worried about what will happen to him. Seeing Skip following the butterfly hunter with an axe, she fears that Hildie and her family is a going to kill anyone that does not follow the rules. Keeping tabs on the missing Hverven, Wendy is ready to call it a trip and leave the B&B as soon as possible. But when Hverven returns unharmed, Joe and Wendy find out what getting your third strike really means. Not being able to eat Hildie’s blueberry muffins for a full day is the punishment, and while Wendy is relieved that her hosts are not crazy killers, she cannot take the rules of the house any longer and tries to drive into town. After the car breaks down, Wendy is forced to come back to The Happy House and apologize for being overly aggressive. While everyone in the house is starting to get along, a knock on the door from the local sheriff delivers upsetting news. A mental patient has escaped from the facility a couple counties away and is now on the loose. As the house mates decides what to do next, another knock from an unknown person comes and seeing that Desmond the Decapitator is at their door, the group must come up with a plan to survive while he seems to have the upper hand. Going into this movie, I expected crazy blood and guts being thrown all over the place from those who did not play by the rules, not a ban on muffins. It kind of caught me off guard, but that is not a bad thing. While the scares that I am used to are not highlighted in this movie, you still get to be tormented by a serial killer which was nice, but it is the earlier scares from the unknown that leave you jumping. Seeing it from Wendy’s perspective, Hildie and her son Skip were killers and something awful happened to Hverven. When that was not the case, Wendy seemed to lose her mind a bit, but was able to make it back when she was needed most. It’s a fun movie, just not one that played out differently then I was expecting after reading the description, and surely after the rules have been laid out. Stay Scared. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM. YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.Conflicts involving morality are quite the common thing to find on television, because they make for good storytelling. After all, when a main character, or characters are forced to face off against someone who is morally corrupt, it helps them to cement their standing as a hero and it gives the audience one epic showdown where good triumphs over evil. Which is a wonderful escape from the everyday grey that the world operates within, and it truly seemed as though this was the kind of conflict that Motherland: Fort Salem was setting up for its season one finale. For General Alder’s decisions to kill civilians and take control of President Wade, were symptoms of moral corruptness, meaning it would be up to the Bellweather Unit to restore honor to the United States Army. However, rather than go down that path, ‘Witchbomb’ instead opted to play a little game of manipulation before taking the story in a fascinating new direction. Because early on in this tale, the stage was set for that grand moral battle. For Alder took the time to banish the entire unit to the frontlines shortly after graduation, since she was able to learn from the President’s mind that our trio of heroes helped to nearly remove her from power, making her seem more corrupt than ever. And to complicate matters further, they were ordered to join the General on a rescue mission to save the Tarim. Leaving one to wonder if the Bellweather Unit would come home safe since it seemed that our Trio was about to square off against the world’s most powerful witch, away from prying eyes. Plus, while the team prepared for what could be their first and only mission, Anacostia dealt with quite the moral dilemma of her own, since she realized she was starting to feel pity for Scylla, after learning more about her past. Leaving her to wonder what should be done with this spy. But the instant the mission got underway, is when this story took the drastic turn in question, since it began to explore the fact that sometimes morality isn’t always a practical solution, as evidenced by the fact that Anacostia let Scylla out in order to track down where the Spree were operating. Or how Alder used fear to entice Tally into becoming a true warrior for the cause, after they had words near the Tarim’s safe house, all of which served to remind us that the world is indeed a grey place, where tough decisions are made every day and whether or not that is a good or bad thing, is a topic best left to the scholars. Yet while this exploration was fascinating to watch in its own right, this finale also had some genuine surprises hiding up its proverbial sleeve. Because this story worked hard to set the stage for the newly announced season two by offering up some unexpected twists and jaw dropping moments. Such as the fact that the Camarilla, an ancient Witch enemy that was thought to be wiped out two-hundred years ago, are alive and well and they are ready to execute a grand plan to put an end to Witch-kind, since they are using modified vocal chords to fight what they deem to be mankind’s greatest threat. Plus, it’s clear that things won’t be the same for the Bellweather Unit in season two since an attempt to save Raelle’s life when she was injured in the fight, sent both Raelle and Abigail to a mysterious plane of existence, and Tally might be tied to the General in an unbreakable bond since she gave her youth to save Alder in a desperate moment of need. Plus, one cannot forget the biggest surprise of all present within this tale, in that, Raelle’s mother is alive and well, and she’s a member of the Spree and that’s one hell of a bombshell to end the season upon. If anything, this finale gets serious credit for being so bold. Because going into a morally ambiguous grey area in regard to character arcs is always an uncomfortable experience, and of course all of those twists and turns leave us with more questions than answers. Such as why Raelle’s mother chose to put her daughter through hell by faking her own death, and also, what on earth motivated her to join the Spree? And speaking of that mysterious entity, are they friend, or foe? Because there is a strong implication that they may have been targeting the Camarilla all along and that’s just fascinating for certain. In the end, however, this is how you pull off a season finale. Because this one did a fine job of closing out an important chapter in our characters lives, so the story can focus on a powerhouse future, one where our heroes will be challenged in ways we never thought possible, and that is going to make the wait for season two; a difficult one indeed. Until next year. Written by Scott Edwards Do you ever sit back and wonder what would happen if you knew something bad was going to happen and worry as to whether or not you would be able to do something about it? I know that I am not vocal enough, much less strong enough to play the hero and save every life that I can. But I would like to think that if I had a solution in hand, my friends would see things my way and follow me to safety. It is a strange scenario to put yourself in, especially since there is so much happening in every minute of every day. They Look Like People is a film that takes all of that a step further as you go down the rabbit’s hole and find out that there is a war coming. Wyatt has just arrived back in town and is spotted by his old friend Christian. As the two have not seen each other in some time, Christian invites Wyatt to stay with him until he needs to leave again. Although he is hesitant, Wyatt takes the opportunity to get a roof over his head and looks forward to reliving some of the best times of his life with his old friend. As both friends are newly out of their relationships, Wyatt does not come clean about what happened to his fiancé and what caused the split. Not taking any pills and having stopped drinking, Wyatt is as clear as he has ever been, but his phone won't stop ringing in the middle of the night. While Wyatt listens to the voice on the other end of the phone, he knows that a war is coming and he must prepare for it. Hearing that Christian is not infected, Wyatt knows that the creatures have infected most of the city and the two must leave before it is too late. Stocking up on weapons, Wyatt is ready and will do anything to keep his friend safe. While Christian knows that something is up with his best friend, he is hesitant to ask questions until he knows that the time is right. Going on with life as normal, Christian starts to go out with Mara from work and while the relationship is growing, Wyatt notices that there is something strange about her. Showing her his stockpile, Mara is able to escape and breaks things off with Christian before Wyatt is able to harm her. While being upset with his friend, Christian stays by Wyatt’s side but needs to know what is happening inside his friend's head. Not a bad movie to say the least as long as you follow the story. I really enjoyed watching Wyatt and Christian rekindle their friendship and play all of the games they did as kids. Watching as Wyatt starts to fall off of the wagon was difficult to watch as his mind goes further and further away from reality. But the relationship between the friends is unlike any I have seen in a movie in a long time. Christian and Wyatt will do anything to keep each other safe and almost at any cost, you don’t see a bromance like that in this day and age. While you don’t get to see everything that Wyatt does and what has made him one of the special people, you do get a glimpse and that is more than enough. This movie delivered very well and has left plenty of questions open to the imagination. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards You continuously hear about people being wrongfully accused of crimes that they didn’t commit. Even nowadays, you hear that people are being released from prison after spending twenty years behind bars when new evidence presents itself. Now, don’t get me wrong, there are guilty people out there that deserve to be in the clink for the crimes that they committed, but for the few that just found themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time, your heart goes out to them. The best thing that someone that has been wrongfully accused can do, is to stick to their story and do not let the system tell them that they are wrong, especially when nobody else was present that can speak to the events that went down. Michael Hart has just been released from prison fifteen years after he was accused of killing his babysitter. Serving his time has not changed Michael, especially since he did not commit the crime. With his parents wanting nothing to do with him, his Uncle Bill is happy to bring his nephew into his home and give him a second chance. But Bill wants to know what really happened that horrific night before he can feel comfortable with Michael overall. Hearing the young man’s story about a tall figure with a skeleton face and wearing nothing but black, Bill thinks that the boy has lost it, but Michael has been saying this for years and although he does not know why the killer has not made an appearance in fifteen years since he has been locked up, he knows it is still out there. Kim is home from school and finds out that her cousin is running a ghost hunting operation. Thinking that this is kind of cool, she goes to visit her cousin Phil to see what kind of operation he is running. Even with his full team, Phil likes the idea of having Kim tag along on their investigations to see if she will start to believe in the afterlife. Jumping at the idea, Kim follows the ghost hunting team into a high school where some strange things have been reported, but the team’s researcher Susan is trying to get them to cover something else. Hearing that Michael Hart has been released from prison, returning to his childhood home and trying to prove what happened one way or another would be better for the team and get a boost in their income. While working at his Uncle’s garage, Michael is greeted by Mr. Crane who is offering to pay much more for services than just car repair. While Michael gets tasked with the normal home maintenance deeds, he is also going to get paid for basic conversations with the old man. Although this seems to be different, getting a well-paying job for a few hours a day is something that Michael cannot pass up. While everything seems so dandy and sweet in Michael’s life once again, while at dinner with his doctor from prison, he is approached by Susan who wants to take him out for a night on the town. Returning to his childhood home where the babysitter was cut to shreds, Michael wants to run, but when telling Mr. Crane what happened, he is convinced to return so the old man can face death once again and this time punish the monster for what was done to his life. I really like how this story manifested into more than a revenge tale, it was a story about life. I loved the interactions between the characters, especially Phil and Susan who were always at each other’s throats about what would be best for their ghost hunting future. Watching as Michael was reintroduced into society was great as well, and when he finally got past his fear of talking to girls, he and Kim were great together. With some old school effects, you are led to believe that Michael’s old house was haunted and seeing the monster from his dreams only led to a greater payoff at the end when it was obvious that the young man was telling the truth. When there is no place to run, home may be your only option, but when that is being run by a monster, you may need to weigh your options once again. Stay Scared. |
