Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...It would appear that at long last, Fear the Walking Dead has finally found a formula that works when it comes to telling a story. It seems that going forward, we are going to be getting a pair of stories to progress the plot along. This new layout is allowing for us to catch up with the 'lost' folks in the group while we see what Madison and company are up to as well, and so far, this new style of storytelling is working out in brilliant fashion. It's allowing the show to spend quality time with our characters on a more intimate basis, allowing us to get to know them and develop them in proper fashion and this week's episode, 'Pablo & Jessica' is a fine example of this. We finally learned a few quirks about Nick and what he's all about when it comes to why the man has been lost in the world for so long and we saw a new side of Madison this episode as well and it turns out that she is the leader and focal point that the show has been lacking because the decisions she came to at the hotel last night were bold and wonderful and necessary as she figured out a way to keep the peace between the people surrounding her. But before we get too deep into that, let's go back and talk about Nick because it was time to revisit him and the Colonia and we were treated to some wonderful moments with the young man as he tried to make amends for putting the Colonia in harm's way a few weeks ago when he crossed the line with the gang that serves as the little community's lifeline to supplies. He decided to help everyone out by making use of his skills learned on the streets and manipulate the town's supply of Oxycontin. By cutting the drug with other ingredients, Nick knows the gang leader's sister will have the fix she so desires, but more importantly, their already dwindling supply of the drug is now extended out further, buying them more time to continue to bring valuable supplies into the Colonia. However while it was nice to see Nick step up and offer this kind of help to those allowing him to stay, there were two gentle moments that stood out above the rest last night. The first came about when he received a home from Alejandro. He was genuinely stunned by the gesture and calmly pointed out that he didn't deserve it and the second was the fact that his concern for Luciana's well being over her brother's death allowed her to open up to him on a romantic level. This truly gave us some insight into the fact that Nick is a good man through and through who has found himself in some awful circumstances of his own doing and because of his mistakes...he feels as though he deserves to be punished in life, and it's led to his years of wandering. It added a new and intriguing depth to his character, but while all of this was fascinating, Madison's journey overshadowed it. Because back at the hotel, we slipped back in time for a moment to learn how she and Strand escaped the wall of walkers in the bar and well...she oddly enough took a page out of her son's survival book, ensuring that she and Strand were covered in the blood of the infected to escape before sneaking into the area where she and Alicia finally met up last week. It was in this place that Madison came to realize how important the discovery of the hotel was to the group and that it would behoove them to secure the place and make it their new home. It was in this moment that this show found its own Rick Grimes if you will, because Madison transformed before our eyes last night. No longer happy to run, she brokered peace between her group and the wedding party holed up here and with Alicia's help, brought forth a daring and stunning plan to finally clear the hotel of the dead. Every able person would use themselves as bait, leading the dead to the pier nearby where Madison would lead them to the end of it and dive off toward a waiting boat, allowing for the dead to follow her into the sea and be pulled out into the ocean courtesy of the rip tide. The plan works like a charm, and the hotel is finally free, but what matters more here, is that people began to follow Madison for her actions. She inspired people and change and well, this was an impressive twist to the story and it's wonderful to finally see someone in charge. Plus it was absolutely stellar to finally see her character go from confused and needy housewife to a solid and stoic leader that rallies the good in people. How long that will last, we don't quite know, but her leadership allowed for a grieving Strand to find a purpose once again, and that made the final moments of this episode incredibly powerful as he came to realize that the groom had made a tough decision in all of the chaos, and left his resurrected bride, formerly known as Jessica, walking around in the Honeymoon Suite. His decision wasn't out of spite, or to keep her around as a weapon, it was simply out of grief, and his inability to let his love go and after a wonderful talk with Strand, it was clear that the two men were bonding in their mutual pain of losing a spouse and by allowing Strand to go in there and deal with her walking corpse...perhaps both men would find peace. Either way, in many ways this was a beautiful episode. One that bucks the trend of darkness the show has been embracing by supplying us with hope. After all, the hotel is now secure, Nick seems to finally be finding his way in life and people that have been needing to heal are healing. But one cannot stress enough how awesome it is to finally see a strong leader emerging in Madison. It's been a long time complaint for the show that it needs a leader, a voice of reason and someone to direct everyone through the hellish wilderness of the end of the world and she's it and she's a damn fine leader at that. She's strong and vocal when she needs to be, and a good enough person inside to be gentle when that's required as well. It should be interesting to see what life in her new home/community is going to look like, and like any good leader, she'll no doubt be put to the test quickly. Until next time.

Written by Scott EdwardsIt can be frightening how much two complete strangers have in common, especially when it comes to relationships. As everyone knows, relationships are difficult to maintain if you are doing it right and so many people allow the spark to fizzle out. There is always something new that can be done to get that fire back, but most people seem to think that it is too difficult to accomplish. As old relationships end and new ones begin, it is easy to say that past love stays in the past, but when it all comes down to it, you never forget and always want a second chance. Andy Conway is having a grand time at dinner talking to his wife Emma, but she has something else on her mind. While Andy starts to talk about a work function, Emma breaks the news to him that she wants a divorce. Taken back, Andy finds out that she has been having an affair and is now in love with someone else. Trying to leave and go back to Chicago, Andy cannot let her go. In a fit of rage, Andy attacks his wife and winds up stabbing her with a pair of scissors, but that is only the beginning of his problems. Getting a phone call at the station, Officer Fine checks out what commotion happened at the Conway residence. Knowing of them, but not knowing them, he is welcomed into the apartment by Adam and checks around. Not seeing any evidence of foul play and only a suspicious class ring on the floor, Fine tells Andy to have his wife call in when she reaches her destination. Before leaving, Fine also informs Andy that there is another group coming in to check out the apartment. Knowing that they will find his dead wife, Andy goes into panic mode and cuts her body into small pieces to fit into his trunk. With a new plan in place, Andy is ready to make sure that his wife makes it to Chicago after all. At the train station, Andy is able to get the bag checked, but Officer Fine is at the station as well. Boarding the same train, Fine stays chatty with his new travel buddy and throws out all sorts of scenarios about how to kill one’s wife. Andy is not comfortable with the line of questioning, but is not able to escape it. While eating dinner with Fine, Andy finds out that there will be a big drug bust at the next station, but when Fine tells him that all of the bags will be searched as well, he is forced to step away. Getting into the baggage car, Andy switches the baggage tags with another trunk and throws his wife’s body off of the train. Little does he know that there is someone else on the same train that is trying to get out of a fractured relationship. Two completely different men in the same situation, but only one knows what is really going on. I really liked how the two men opened up to each other, especially when Andy was starting to get comfortable with Fine’s company. Fine knows what the end game will be and with the law on his side, Andy never stood a chance for killing his wife, no matter how good his plan was. Starring David Paymer as Andy Conway, Vincent Spano as Officer Fine and Traci Lords as Emma Conway, this is a great little ensemble for such an easy story and it reminds us that the best laid plans can be a cut above the rest. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by Scott EdwardsThere is nothing like a brotherly love, at least that is what I have been told by several people that have siblings. A bond from birth that nobody and nothing will be able to break, especially when one of them is in need of help. There might be some bad eggs out there when it comes to asking for help, but most of the time, it is something that they cannot do on their own. Following your sibling blindly if they ask for help might be something that has been taught to you over the years, but you have to remember to be careful, especially if they are asking something of you that goes against your morals. After serving two years hard time in San Quentin, Billy DeLuca is ready to get some revenge on the man that put him there. With help from his little brother Virgil, Billy has come up with a plan to rob the ice cream warehouse that Virgil works at. Going over the plan, the only thing that Virgil is able to focus on is the Jessie James comic book he is reading and making sure that he and his brother are like Jessie and Frank in the book. While reciting the plan for his brother, Virgil messes up and starts to punish himself for being stupid. While Billy is able to calm him down, he wants to go on with the plan, since it will get the two paid. Stalking a parking spot for the Ice Cream Man, Mr. Byrd, Billy wants to make sure that the man that sent him to prison knows he is out on the streets again. Confronting Mr. Byrd while doing his show, Billy tries to show that he has turned over a new leaf and thanks the old man for turning him in. While everything seems to hunky dory, Billy is ready to take out his two years of hard time on the old man and the plan is ready to become reality. While at the warehouse, Virgil is starting to work on his half of the plan while his boss, Mrs. Grafungar is yelling and screaming at him when Mr. Byrd pulls in for his pickup. As Billy shows up, he sees that his brother may not be fully in the game and after the two fight, Billy is able to get him to follow through. As Virgil follows Mrs. Grafungar into the office to secure the safe, Billy waits in the warehouse for Mr. Byrd to get out of the truck. However when Virgil comes out of the office covered in blood, Billy knows that all bets are off for the brothers and the plan may have to change. Covering up the murder of Mrs. Grafungar and losing out on the money in the safe, Billy decides to take it to the next level and goes to Mr. Byrd’s house. Virgil unloads his shotgun in Mr. Byrd’s head before any questions are answered causing his brother to go into panic mode. Not being able to leave empty handed, Billy starts digging through the house like a madman. Finding a cache of cash, there may be no snowball chance in hell that he will be able to spend it. Not having a brother or sister, this kind of interaction may be a bit lost on me, but I have seen how my friends fight and make up with their siblings, so I kind of get the gist. I must admit that I love the rivalry that is presented in this episode, especially since Billy and Virgil do not know how to deal with anything. With Virgil being a bit slow as well, it shows how vulnerable the relationship can get, especially when there is no power to say that something is wrong. Starring Bill Paxton as Billy, Brad Dourif as Virgil, Lainie Kazan as Mrs. Grafungar and Michael Lerner as Mr. Byrd. This is a great little sibling rivalry story that turns bloody and has quite the chocolate swirl of a twist. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by Scott EdwardsSo many people are complacent when it comes to doing their job. Doing just enough to get by may work for some people, but there are others that are quite the opposite. They want to do more, to be better than everyone else, and their drive never subsides, especially when they have proven themselves to be the best. It is a great trait to have, especially for today’s workforce since there is no telling when someone will be coming to take your job. Just be the best at what you do and all of your worries will go away, as you become, as they say, indispensable. The Great Zambini is trying to take his act to the next level and with his assistant's help, it will happen sooner than later. But no matter how hard Connie concentrates, Zambini is not able to get a read on what she is really thinking. Seeing that he is getting frustrated with her, Connie tries to leave, but Zambini is able to get inside of her head and convince her to stay and give him his favorite dessert before bed. Knowing that she has no choice, Connie plays along with her mind reader's show since she has nowhere else to go, but little does she know that there might be real love on the horizon for her. After their show, Connie stops and talks to the other performers of the carnival, but Zambini wants nothing to do with the rag tag crew. Commanding Connie to head back to the trailer, the fire-eater Johnny is worried about her wellbeing. While Zambini is asleep, Connie sneaks out and talks to Johnny about his future and he cannot see it without her. Offering to take her away from the carnival, Connie knows that Zambini will find her wherever she goes. Staying in the moment, Johnny and Connie start to get hot and heavy and a cry from her mind raises Zambini from his slumber. Being lied to about what she had been doing, Zambini hands his assistant another beating for the night. As Connie is ashamed of herself for allowing Zambini to control her, she takes up Johnny on his offer to leave for good. Connie is not able to keep her intentions a secret as Zambini knows he can read her mind now. Stopping Johnny after his talk with the man-eating-gorilla, Zambini has a surprise for the fire eater. Dousing him in gasoline and burning his cheating body, Zambini makes sure that Connie knows that there is nobody in the world that can take her away from him. But Connie is strong and able to leave Zambini once and for all, but after a bender, Zambini commands her back to the trailer, only to find that he has been able to read the thoughts of someone else. Just a little love triangle story with a fourth member that you would not expect to be a part of it. Even though she is on a one way street to nowhere, Connie always has a bright outlook on life and it shows around the carnival. Johnny is able to catch the woman’s eye, but it is not his looks, it is his feelings for her. While Zambini is stuck in his own little world, trying to eat and feed his mind at the same time. Featuring Ernie Hudson as Zambini, Joan Chen as Connie, John Laughlin as Johnny and a special appearance of Phil Fondacaro as Emmet. Torment and hatred come to life in this episode, along with a couple seconds of complete crazy, and the cast does a fantastic job on the small screen. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by Scott EdwardsGetting older is never easy, especially when someone is trying to take your job. No matter how many years you may have put into doing what you have done well, there is no stopping the drive of someone younger that wants it more and is willing to do anything to get it. You can always rely on your name and your past accomplishments, but that can only hold off the youth for so long as they can be out doing things that you have not been able to accomplish for several years. It is a sad to think about this, but when your time comes, will you be the one that will try to teach them what you have learned over your many years, or will you try to hold them back at any cost to retain your name and your job? Dalton Scott, a prized photographer feels like he is being shown up by his younger protégé. Although young Ike idealizes Dalton, he is trying to make a name for himself as well. But Ike will never do anything to tarnish Dalton’s name or legacy, he just wants to learn from the best since Dalton has been the eye behind the camera for more of the inspirational shots that make the papers than anyone else. Trying to befriend his boss, Ike invites Dalton to come to the house and meet his wife and have a home cooked meal for once while in the States. But Dalton does not like the idea, since he is single and could have any woman that he wants when they find out who he is, he wants to be on his own. Visiting his editor, Dalton is run through the ringer since his work is slipping much faster than he could have ever known. Deciding to head to Central America to see a diseased location and take shots, Dalton is directed to take Ike with him just to get a second set of shots on the situation. Dalton decides to break the news to his apprentice, but when arriving at the young man’s house, he is blown away by the beauty that opens the door. Meeting Bobbi for the first time, Dalton does not understand the attraction to Ike, who seems to be funny looking to say the least. Bobbi tells Dalton that she has always had eyes for greatness and sees this in her man. While Ike and Bobbi are making love, Dalton watches and sees that it is not an act. The two will never be broken up and even in death, they will follow each other to no ends. Running with a band of mercenaries, Dalton has set what the two photographers will be doing while in the bush. With a small province being knocked out by a disease, Dalton plays some reverse psychology on Ike to get the young gun to check it out in the hopes of getting him infected. When Ike returns however, he looks better than ever and is looking forward to sending a letter and some potpourri to Bobbi. During the middle of the night, Ike wakes up in pain and Dalton knows exactly what has happened to him. As his protégé dies in front of his eyes, Dalton will be back on top in the photography biz and will become a great lover to the newly widowed Bobbi. But Ike’s package did make it out of the jungle and what it contained will change Dalton Scott’s outlook on life for the rest of his days. Just a jealous man nearing the end of his days, not willing to give up just yet. As Dalton is still the main photographer, he knows that Ike is on his tail and needs to find some way to make some separation. He was able to do just that by killing the young man, but there is no escaping the love that Bobbi had for her husband. Starring Rodger Daltrey as Dalton, Steve Buscemi as Ike and Lysette Anthony as Bobbi, this is the perfect cast to show the Sexy, the Beautiful and the Funny Looking. I will admit if I see anyone eyeing my woman like Dalton was in this episode, there will be words and I certainly will not follow them anywhere. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by Scott EdwardsTrust in a relationship is the only way to make it work. If there is no trust, who knows what the other person is out doing in their free time, much less what they could be getting away with. So many relationships are broken up due to one person not having any trust in the other and that is a sad fact. But the lucky others that are able to keep their trust a two way street, wind up being happy as clams since they know that nothing will keep them from falling apart because of this one simple act. Leo Burns has a bit of a problem, but it isn't in regards to his business as he is on top of his game, it is with his wife Bridget who he thinks is stepping out on him. When talking to his first private investigator about what might be happening, Leo is disappointed with the results. With nothing found to prove that Bridget is running around on him, Leo has to find someone better that is not afraid to tell him the cold hard facts. Stepping into G.G. Devoe’s office, Leo thinks he has found the right man for the job. G.G. Devoe’s pictures reveal nothing better than what the first investigator found, but Devoe believes he can read between the lines of what is really happening. Showing Bridget walking into her church, all covered up and in a bad mood, then coming out with a smile on her face that even the Lord could see, Devoe has concluded that she is messing around with her priest. Although Leo does not believe this, he finds out that Father Sejac has a past and on that list is infidelity. Devoe urges Leo to stop by the church and get a feel for the man, since it is easy to tell when someone is lying and with his marriage at stake, Leo has to find out what is really going on. Not getting a clean feeling from Father Sejac, Leo returns to Devoe’s office and is looking for a way to make the priest disappear. For a nominal fee, Devoe is willing to set up a hit on the man of the cloth, but will not give Leo a date or a time, just the guarantee that it will happen. Anxious to be there when the hitman arrives at the church to wipe out his opposition, Leo’s mind continues to picture his wife and the priest together, but the feelings get too strong and he is not able to hold them back any longer. Arriving at the church and sneaking into a confessional booth, Leo thinks that he is safe, but his wife joins him the adjoining one and comes clean about why she has been so distant to him. Leo takes her confession to heart and forgives her for her sins, but there is someone else waiting for the jealous husband as the church doors close one last time. Just your normal tale of an older, jealous husband that thinks his younger, gorgeous wife is cheating on him. I would hate to side with Leo in this story since he did ask why and what was wrong with Bridget, but she would never come clean about her fears, leading to his delusions. This is what broke the trust circle that the two should have had and drove Leo mad and forced him to not accept any idea other than that she was running around on him. It is sad, but if you cannot trust your significant other, you will find someone, no matter who, that you will place your trust in. Starring Hector Elizondo as Leo, the stunning Patsy Kensit as Bridget, John Shea as Father Sejac and Sam Waterston as G.G. Devoe. This might not fall into my top five episodes, but it does make you want to open your eyes to see what is going on around you when in a relationship. Communication is key and one the leading things you can do to install trust in your significant other's heart, keep that in mind whenever you decide to get serious. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Three episodes into the second half of the second season of Fear the Walking Dead and the show continues to reinvent itself. Truly, nothing feels the same on this show anymore, and that's quite frankly for the better since it's gone darker and added new levels of brutality to the stories. It's as if it's taken a page from its sister show and these new additions to how the story is being told, is outright brilliant. By trying this new hybrid approach to storytelling, the series has managed to deliver not only some top notch scares, but it has also added some stunning character development in the process and that's what 'Do Not Disturb' provided us with this week, some intense and thoughtful moments both scare wise and character wise and it also took an in depth look at what consequences come from making the decision to survive at all costs and it also resurrected an age old standby for this universe as a whole, by examining the notion of what one has to become mentally in order to survive at the end of the world. The first of those two thematic concepts was explored in depth by continuing the storyline at the hotel that Madison and her family and friends stumbled upon in fascinating fashion by taking us back in time first thing this episode. We met Elena, a hotel employee who was overseeing a wedding in the ballroom, and it didn't take long for us to realize that we had seen this layout before, in present day when Madison and company arrived at the hotel to find that exact ballroom empty with blood on the floor. The flashback allowed us to bear witness as to why that blood was there since the bride's father collapsed from a heart attack during a dance with his daughter and turned, allowing for chaos and flesh eating to ensue. But what made this moment so jarring was that Elena didn't call for help, she simply backed out of the room, and locked everyone in. It seemed at first this was going to be a one off story wise, but as Alicia worked to get back downstairs and find out if her mother was okay or not...she found Elena and the two formed a necessary but untrustworthy bond as we learned that the remaining guests in the hotel were out to deal with Elena. It was here that consequences came into play, as those guests, all of them survivors of the wedding massacre opted to kidnap Elena's nephew in order to get the keys to the hotel and banish the woman that cost them so much at the beginning of the apocalypse. Quick thinking on Alicia's part saved Elena and her nephew's hide, along with her own and the good news is she found her mother, but this is where the episode brought forth as many scares as possible by unleashing the dead at every single turn, and while it was fascinating to see what some have done and regretted in order to live, all of it was balanced out nicely by Alicia's newfound strength and quick thinking. But while it was nice to see Alicia teach Elena a lesson in humility and kindness, the darkest elements of the story came to the surface by way of catching up with Chris and Travis. It turns out they had spent most of their days walking where the road would take them after abandoning the compound and well, for a while there it seemed like Travis was right. Chris needed some time with his father to get the young man back on track in his time of need...before Chris' erratic behavior came back into play when he stole food and water from another group of survivors before he and his father hit the road once again, hoping to simply find some semblance of shelter to settle in for the night. It was here that the two characters began to diverge on a philosophical level and for the first time we received some fascinating insight into what Travis truly believes will happen from all of this mess. He is a man that thinks that the world will get a grip on this madness and eventually put life back together once again and well, his naivety explains so much about his behavior in the past year. He has been passive and hesitant because he doesn't want to do anything that he regrets, or that others in his family will...knowing full well that when the world sets itself right again, those actions are something they will have to live with for the rest of their days. Granted we know he is wrong, but his idealism isn't necessarily a bad thing and it's actually welcome at this point in the story. Yet at the same time, his vulnerability also revealed that he sees himself a failure at this point and that he cannot go back to his wife and step children until he proves that he is indeed a man that can inspire the best in people. However...he has quite the road ahead of him when it comes to making that happen. Because in stunning fashion, Chris went down a dark road, one that was outright disturbing since eventually the group he stole from caught up with the men, offering a chance to return to the States with them and while Travis was hesitant to trust a group of bravado fueled frat boys, Chris was all about it. It led to a confrontation at a farm, where a father that was forced to bury his entire family on the property demanded the group leave, at gunpoint. While Travis tried to make the peace, his new friends escalated the situation, eventually leading to gunfire and when threatened in such fashion, Chris wasted no time and killed the farmer in cold blood. The divide this created between father and son was evident when Travis refused to take his son's hand to help him to his feet. This segment of the story was where we explored what someone has to do within their mind to make it to tomorrow at the end of the world, and ironically enough, while at first you feel as though Travis is weak for not wanting to be a little more gung ho, the man is right when it comes to hanging on to some sense of morals and respect and well, had the new group listened to him, that farmer would not have died. Yet Chris is also in the right in that they need to take more chances in a world falling to pieces, but anything he says is now overshadowed by the fact he is embracing the brutality of this world, and relishing in it. He loves the chaos and disorder and well, there is a fair chance now, that the young man could be lost forever. Either way, for the first time it feels as though our characters are in real danger and considering the tough situation all of them are in, it looks like things are going to get a lot tougher before they get better. Until next time. Written by Scott EdwardsWorking in sales is not for everyone. You have to be kind, courteous, charismatic and above all, smarter than the person you are trying to sell something to. This especially applies to jobs that have you sell on commission since you have to be better than everyone that works with you. I don’t know how people have done this all of these years as the customers are getting smarter, but as of late the consumer has found a happy place to shop and the internet is starting to make the salesmen a thing of the past. Judd Campbell is at the top of his game, as a salesman and a con man wrapped up in a neat little package. Being able to convince anyone that what he has is worth more than their money, he is ready to make a bigger score. Going door to door and selling cemetery plots that don’t exist with the promise of a huge payout, Judd has the spiel down to a science. But Judd is in for the ride of his life when he knocks on the door of the Brackett family who just might be looking for something more fulfilling. As Judd has been invited into the home to give Ma and Pa Brackett his sales pitch, he notices that they might have more money than he originally thought and he needs to help them in parting with it. Upping the down payment price with the promise of double the payout for each family member, Judd believes he is going to get out free and clear with more cash in his pocket. But while in the kitchen Judd finds something that he was never supposed to see, the head of a salesman in the microwave. As he looks around the house closer, he finds that every salesman that has come around the house has never left. Being tied up and waiting for his fate, Judd hears that their daughter is looking for a suitor and he would love to meet the young woman. Winona has never been lucky at love, but Judd is ready to take a try at it, but when she appears, he has to try to prove that he loves her more than any woman in the world. With the promise of freedom at stake, Judd has to do things that no other salesman before him has had to, but Winona has a secret that she will only share with her new love, her parents have a dowry on her and the lucky man that marries her will receive a large sum of money. Agreeing to get married, Judd’s eyes light up as he is able to escape the crazy couple and break his new wife’s heart to collect the cash, but he does not know what is buried at the bottom of the hole and may find that there is more to life than just money. Wow, an ending that only Tales from the Crypt can deliver and it is fitting. With a salesman that is not used to being told no, he is able to use his charm to gain his freedom from the crazy family, but once he crosses the line, there is no going back, much less any way to escape. Maybe the lesson here is to tell the truth, or something like that, since Judd is never off of his game and does not know when to stop the lying. Starring Ed Begley Jr. as Judd Campbell, Tim Curry as Pa Brackett, Tim Curry as Ma Brackett and the great Tim Curry as Winona Bracket, I don’t know how this story would have played out if Tim Curry was not the family Brackett and you know what, I don’t even want to think about it now because it was a magical story with him in all those lead roles. Until next time, Stay Scared. Written by John Edward BetancourtFor the longest time, fans of the Evil Dead franchise were faced with a horrible truth; that most likely, they were never going to enjoy another incredible adventure with Ashley J. Williams and that was an outright shame since Army of Darkness opened up all kinds of possibilities of the Deadites finding their way into our world. Sure, there were rumors of an Evil Dead 4 eventually coming to fruition, but they were always just that...rumors. But lo and behold, a miracle arrived, after years of lamenting and dreaming of what that fourth film might look like, the horror Gods smiled upon fans of the franchise by giving everyone that next chapter in the story on television instead. Ash vs. Evil Dead was everything we could have hoped for and more and as we count down to season two, we have also been blessed with that amazing first season arriving on blu ray and this disc set is truly a sight to behold. For starters, the high def transfer on this disc set is absolutely outstanding. There are wonderful little details to be found in just about every single frame, allowing for the world that Ash inhabits to pop off the screen and when the evil comes into play, these newfound details allow for that world to suddenly take on a sinister life of its own. Not to mention, the Deadites look worse for the wear (in a good way) in this set, and that actually manages to enhance the story and make them appear more lethal in the process. Case in point, the pilot episode when Amanda's partner becomes possessed. There's a new atmosphere to that already tense scene thanks to all that perfect detail and all of that is further enhanced by a beautiful 7.1 surround sound track. The sound effects and the music are all used to draw you into the story further and believe me, it works like a charm. The only downside to this particular set, is that the special features are a little on the light side. There are some audio commentaries that I need to get through, but otherwise, it's mostly featurettes on this set that highlight Ash and the Deadites and while they're entertaining to watch, on a personal level I think I would have preferred a grand documentary on how this whole series came to life with interviews from Sam Raimi and Bruce and the gang. After all it had to take a monumental effort to finally get this project off the ground and more information on how all that came together, would be an absolute treat since the end result of all this hard work is downright amazing. However, I consider that complaint to be a minor one, because the episodes themselves are already filled to the brim with the magic of Ashley J. Williams doing what he does best, kicking ass and taking names, so one can certainly overlook the lack of special features. Either way, this is a must own for Evil Dead fans since in reality, this is it, the fourth film we've been waiting for...just broken up into a ton of little vignettes and those who are unfamiliar with the franchise can use this disc set as a gateway into this incredible little world since the story does stand out on its own from the films for the most part and to flat out discover the wonder of Bruce Campbell at his finest. Hail to the king, baby. |
