Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...This week brought back the great show for us Cosplay lovers, Heroes of Cosplay. This week kicked off with a visit to ComiKaze Con, and boy did they bring it! New faces, new costumes, and old friends. We followed Jessica, Holly, Jesse, Yaya, and Chloe as our returning stars. We also had the introduction of Indra, a friend of Yaya's and a veteran cosplayer looking to start her own cosplay costuming business. The task for this week was to bring some new, exciting, costumes to the infamous Stan Lee's ComicKaze Con in L.A. I'm not going to lie, kinda massively jealous. Minor spoilers for those who missed this weeks episode! Yaya doesn't actually go to ComiKaze, instead she hits up Argentina, as she was invited to their convention down there as a special guest. Before she goes, though, Indra stops by for some costume advice. The two go over just how many costumes each of them has made, and wow, is that list huge! Yaya has an entire room dedicated to her costumes alone. She calls it her 'blue room', and it is here where Indra let's Yaya talk her into competing at the ComiKaze costume contest. Indra will make, and present, her She-Ra costume for this prestigious convention. Yaya seems sad to be missing out, but excited for her up coming trip! It's not everyday a Cosplayer gets asked to visit an out of state con; much less one in another country, while this isn't Yaya's first, it's certainly the most exciting one yet! Meanwhile, Jess and Holly are discussing their plans for ComiKaze,. The dynamic duo decides to have a table at the Con to boost their company and get more recognition. Not only are they selling T-shirts, and some of their own creations, the two will have a cosplay repair station to help out fellow cosplayers. These two were a personal favorite for me from season one, and it's amazing to see them back for season two and sticking to their tried and true methods. No matter what, cosplay is about fun, and these two bring that to life. They've got some amazing skills and great talent, but they're the most inspirational cosplayers out there. These two decide to do a Pokemon cosplay. Holly will be the actual Pokemon while Jess will be a Pokemon trainer. They decide to invite Chloe into the group, and she does a human form of a Pokemon which turns out to be pretty amazing! In turn, Chloe convinces the two to join her girls cosplay group. They all get together and do Burlesque versions of internet websites. Jesse is back, still riding the high from his last con victory, he's determined to do something fun for this Con. With the help of his girlfriend and a friend, he decides to do Megaman! Sadly, there were no wins or runner ups for any of our Heroes, but that's okay. They all showed up and did a great job showing off their amazing costumes on the stage. While nobody won, nobody was discouraged by this. A lot of work goes into complying, and its all about fun. That's how they all chose to accept it this round. It was still a fun trip for all! What will the rest of this season bring us? Well, it's time to book your tuesday nights, because this looks like its going to be a fun show with some exciting cons coming up! And, after Heroes of Cosplay, the Wil Wheaton Project aired it's first episode (and as I write this, Mattie is working on her cosplay for DCC). This show with our lovable host is one that I can only describe as a slight more tame, far more nerdy version, of The Soup. It's fun, original, and entertaining. So if you get a chance, check that out too! Syfy has some amazing looking shows about to start, keep an eye out, and I'll do my best to review anything that catches my fancy for you guys! If there's a show you'd like to see me review/recap or just watch and Tweet with you about it, hit me up on Twitter @SoraLostSoul. While you're there, go ahead and tell me what your favorite Heroes of Cosplay moment was this week, or comment below! We love hearing from you guys, and I'm always looking for something to geek out about!

Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...As a friend recently said to me, hindsight is twenty-twenty. The mistakes we make today, the foolish decisions we think are right at the time are almost guaranteed to come back and haunt us in many ways. Yet while there will be decisions we can look back on with pride, it is the ones we regret that we hold onto the most. You know which ones I'm talking about. The ones where we didn't try hard enough or the ones where we let other people down are the ones that we wish we could go back and change. It is that hindsight, and that battle for a second chance that is at the core of the best X-Men film in a long time, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The end is near for mutants. A war they have fought for ages, and continue to lose has seen their numbers dwindle to near extinction. At the edge of the world, the remnants of the X-Men have discovered a way to go back and correct all of the mistakes of the past, and it is up to Wolverine to help a broken leader believe in hope again and save the future. Let's just get the ugly out of the way, it's been tough times for the X-Men franchise. Fans have long held onto their anger over The Last Stand and while First Class was an entertaining ride, something seemed to be missing, it needed a wow factor if you will, which means good news when it comes to Days of Future Past...the wow factor and the X-Men are back and better than ever. This is the big one we've waited for when it comes to this franchise, since this film finally provides us with the biggest stakes yet, something the X-Men often face in the comics but not on film. However, what makes it work, are the grand performances since well...everyone who ever played on Xavier's team is back in some form or fashion, with a few new heroes along the way, well, one in particular that steals the show. Seriously, Quicksilver's cameo in this motion picture will leave you in tears from laughter. But we cannot forget that two of the most iconic names in the franchise have come home in Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. We are treated to a rich story that gives us an uncertain past and a terrifying future. I mean wow...some of the scenes in the future, are incredibly dark and ugly and what happens to many of the X-Men in the last forty minutes...well you could hear the gasps of shock from the audience because this is a film that simply doesn't hold back. Not to mention, after getting a hint of it in The Last Stand we finally get to see Sentinels and they are just spectacular. Either way, the irony to be found here is that this is a film about redemption and how the right decisions can truly make a difference. That's what makes this X-Men movie so refreshing after this long and tough road, because it was always the finest parts of humanity that this intrepid team stood for, to inspire the rest of us and perhaps that's the irony here. Not only does the film have a message of hope and redemption on a philosophical level, but it also provides hope and redemption for the franchise as well. Make sure you catch this one, you won't be disappointed. With the end of school and the start of summer, many of us are left with a lot of free time we didn't know we had. Seriously guys, I was so bored on Monday I contemplated calling into work to see if they needed any help. How sad is that? Okay, maybe not so sad, I actually enjoy my job, but it is summer and there should be a lot of things to do, right? If you're like me, and you detest the heat, then I have some of my guilty summer pleasures for you. All of which involve the nice air conditioned safety of the great indoors. First on my list is exactly what I did end up doing most this past weekend. You guys know just how much I love my drama filled TV shows. Grab your spoons and your tubs of ice cream because Bravo has a whole new set of the shows I personally love, coming to TV, this summer. The People's Couch is something I discovered this Sunday, and it is literally a show about people watching other shows! It's kind of fun, because it shows their reactions! It's an interesting concept for a TV show, but nonetheless is absolutely fun. They also have going now, The Real Housewives of New York, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and starting in a few days…or weeks, is The Ladies of London. Which is kind of like any other show on Bravo, but it's with some British women and some American women living in England! What's not to love about that show!? I don't know, it hasn't aired yet, but you better believe I will be watching that. I'm pretty sure, at this point, I will watch anything Bravo puts out. They have Million Dollar Listings and a few spin offs of that going. It's about high end real-estate brokers in New York, L.A., and soon, Miami. The drama that goes down on this show is priceless. Not to mention, those houses/apartments they sell? Wow. I wish I could afford to go live in NYC! If you guys are looking for some good TV fun, check out Bravo! Speaking of TV, guys, Heroes of Cosplay season 2 starts May 27th! Are you guys excited? I'm excited! Speaking of, Syfy is also host to The Wil Wheaton Project. What is this show about, you may be asking? Guess we're all going to have to tune in to find out! Netflix is another guilty pleasure of mine. They have everything and anything on there that you didn't know you wanted to watch. It's like, you sit down to watch one episode of something, and suddenly its twelve hours later, you don't know where your pants are, and you've crammed 6 years of television into just a few hours, and watched several documentaries on how socks are made. Not really an exaggeration people….I swear this happened to me! Well, they have seasons of past shows that I've not yet had a chance to watch. Guess who's going to watch Breaking Bad this summer? This girl! Also, I discovered Crackle….I don't even know what it is, I just know I need to find out more about it. It's supposedly like Netflix, but free. I've not explored it yet, but I'll keep you guys posted via Twitter. Which I'm terrible about lately…sorry! And of course, movies. Now, I work at a movie theater, so I've not had the time, or chance, to actually see any movies yet. It's been a while since I've gone, but with all these amazing movies coming out this summer? Yeah, you know where you can find me and Mattie! I'm looking forward to a lot of them, but the most exciting ones for me are, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. X-Men has always been a huge part of my life, and it's amazing to see these films on the big screen! I'll have to drag my dad to this one for sure, as many of you know how special this series is to the both of us. Surprisingly, I'm not huge into the comics, but I feel like I've got plenty of time to catch up, maybe? And of course, when all else fails…comics are a fantastic way to avoid the summer heat. Enchanted Grounds isn't too far from where we live, and I have a few comic subscriptions that I pick up…every once in a while. Nightwing is my favorite comic from DC's New 52, and of course I have my archer's, Green Arrow and Hawkeye. Whatever you fancy, a trip to your local comic shop is always a great idea and has something for everyone to enjoy! Alright guys! Remember to stay cool! And if all else fails? Laser Tag. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Are you ready for the season finale? I was…until John shared Clark Gregg's tweet with me…then I wasn't. Know that I will never lie to you guys, I cried during this episode. I cried rather hard at one particular part. So, if you're ready, lets recap this journey together. Remember, that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did get a second season, so we will get more Marvel awesomeness in the fall! Okay, so we start where we left off last episode. Agent's May, Triplett, and Coulson are fighting those super soldiers while Skye is uploading that tracking virus of hers onto the HYDRA mainframe. Just so happens one of the soldiers has the Berserker Staff from a few episodes back, and May gets her hands on it. Never let it be said that she isn't a total BAMF because she delivered. Triplett gets hurt, but Skye gets the virus uploaded in time, just as May sets the building to collapse and the team leaves as soon as they can. Simmons and Fitz managed to get a tracker onto the Bus, and with Skye's virus, they find where Garrett, Ward and the Bus are. But, they've not found Simmons and Fitz; who happen to be at the bottom of the ocean. Fitz has broken his arm, but they're both alive…only, there's no escape and it looks like the two will die before they can be rescued. Still, Fitz managed to make a weak homing signal in hopes of their team finding them. Meanwhile, Garrett has totally lost his mind and is carving things into glass. Ward is a bit concerned with the weird behavior and lack of orders. He's also questioning if this HYDRA thing was a real thing that they're still behind, or, well, what? Raina doesn't seem to have a care in the world, though. Turns out, she's fascinated with the transformation of their leader. While that's going on, Fitz and Simmons have devised a way out of their trap. A make shift bomb will break the seal and the glass, allowing the water to rush in, and theoretically one of them to escape. Fitz has a breathing thing that will give one of them a burst of air into their lungs, allowing one to swim out and to the surface. It's a long shot, but he's willing to do whatever it takes to save Simmons. Inadvertently, he ends up letting the biologist know how he feels. Simmons refuses to do this and leave Fitz to die. Before she can even argue, he detonates the charger and leaves her with no choice. Simmons takes Fitz with her, and as she's surfacing and trying not to panic, a helicopter appears above her. In it, none other than Nick Fury. He saves them both, but Fitz is badly injured and went too long without air...but he actually manages to make it through...barely. Our team hits the enemy head on. It's just the four of them, so taking over the nearest Cybertek building near the Bus shouldn't be hard, and it really isn't! Skye fakes having a bomb and takes over the compound while Triplett and Coulson cause a distraction. Once everything is secure, she's hacked into the mainframe and able to communicate with Mike, aka Deathlok. Meanwhile, one of the Cybertek worker's 'resets' the soldiers to 'default' which happens to be "protect Garrett". This is exactly what Coulson wanted, so he takes off to follow the soldiers. Ward has finally gotten orders. He's been told to go get Skye and that's what he does. Of course, he appears all threatening with his gun out, like he's going to shoot her. She calls his bluff and then May shows up to take out some much needed aggression out on that betraying little b--seriously, I will never forgive Ward. Ever. But May does a fantastic job of kicking his butt. She takes a few decent blows as the two are seemingly matched, but May is far too clever. She wins in the end, and Ward is left drooling on the floor. Coulson finally confronts Garrett who is talking three kinds of crazy. As it turns out, he's got his soldiers there to take Coulson out. Nick chooses then to show up, and they handle the soldiers, leaving Deathlok and Garrett. Just as Deathlok is about to take action, Skye finds his son, Ace, and sends a message to him. Knowing his son is safe, Deathlok, now more like Mike, attacks Garrett, stomps a hole through his chest, and puts an end to everything. Once reunited, everyone's back on the Bus, and Coulson has a few choice words with Fury. The project used to save him was meant to save an Avenger. Fury reveals that that's exactly what the project was used for. I'm not going to lie, I 'awed' at this moment, because Phil really is an Avenger! After that, we see another secret base. Fury wants Coulson to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. and Koenig is back…kinda. Sorta. It's Eric's twin brother Billy. Either way, new secret base, new mission set, and everything from this season is wrapped up. We're left with two leads to the second season. Raina visits a man, who turns out to be Skye's father. And Coulson wakes to draw the same scribbles on the wall that Garrett did. All in all, a fantastic set up for season 2! I can hardly wait! Written by ShaeHello my fellow geeks! Mother's Day is right around the corner, and I don't know about you, but I am excited! I have to give a huge shout out to Mattie who sent me some great ideas! She stopped by ThinkGeek and sent me the link to their Mother's Day section! Is your mom a geek!? Does she love Doctor Who? Does she like cookies?! Okay, who doesn't like cookies….Guess what! ThinkGeek and Barnes & Noble have the TARDIS cookie jar! It may seem a bit unconventional as a Mother's Day gift, but believe me, they're awesome. Oddly, my mom got Mattie one for her birthday and she couldn't stop playing with the box before wrapping it and handing it over. When opened and closed, the TARDIS' top lights up and plays the iconic 'whoosh' we all know and love. But, if that's not the type of thing you'd like to give to your mom, then check out their other Doctor Who things. There's a TARDIS necklace, bracelet, boots, dresses, mugs, and of course, shirts and robes. Now, I strive to always get my mom something she doesn't expect. She's not remotely nerdy, but she does have a few things she likes! For instance, she's a huge Star Trek and Walking Dead fan. Thankfully, Walking Dead has a few novels out there. This is particularly helpful for the, not so nerdy, mom out there, like mine! She's not willing to read any of the comics, she's not a fan of nerdy t-shirts or anything like that, but she does love reading and she does enjoy The Walking Dead story line. Barnes & Noble has three novels out that I plan on exposing my poor mother too. The Road to Woodbury and The Fall of the Governor parts one and two. While I can't get my mom to fully express her nerdness publicly, I can get her to indulge just a bit! Also, I recommend taking a look at ThinkGeek's jacket and Mother's Day section. They have a few jackets and cardigans that are stylish! What makes these jacket's so special? Their pockets. Cardigans have zipped pockets, there are plenty of hidden pockets to go around within these awesome looking jackets! And lastly, my always go to pick, mugs. I found one that said "Worlds Okayest Mom." and I really need to just buy it for my mom. Mugs can be any and everything that you want them to be. ThinkGeek, Amazon, and most stores you go to will always have a mug that might catch your eye. Mugs can be as nerdy, or not, as you want them to be. ThinkGeek has an amazingly large selection, and right now they have some great deals going. And of course, microbes. The Metro University Bookstore has them, they can be found online, and my mom's collection is growing so large, when they moved a few weeks ago, her microbes got their own box. They're always a favorite gift of mine to give. When it comes to moms, just remember, whatever you give them, they'll love. If you're still strapped and looking for a last minute gift, check out Pandora's charm bracelets. They're something that your mom will love, and you can always add a charm for any special occasion. Everyone in my family (Included the adopted Mattie) has one, and they're amazing. I wear mine every single day, as does my mom. And remember, moms always love flowers. Whatever you chose to get your mom this Mother's Day, she'll love it! I hope you all like my gift picks! If you find something I recommended from here, take a pic of your mom with her gift and tweet it to me @SoraLostSoul! I'd love to see their reactions and your gift choices! Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Hey guys! Welcome to this week's recap of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! Firstly, I owe you guys a huge apology. I did end up missing last weeks recap, and for that I am beyond sorry. Sometimes life just gets a little to hectic. While I try to make sure I keep things up to date for you guys, sometimes things just slip through the cracks! But, I'm back! I'm here, and we're in this together! I'm going to warn you, this episode was tough and awesome all at the same time. Tough because, well, Ward…I can't forgive him. Ever. And awesome because we do get some back story! We start with our team in the hotel planning their attack! Triplett had gone to retrieve his grandfathers stuff, because Howling Commando stuff is way cooler than anything they have today. I'm just saying. Well, that and Ward kind of has their Bus, so they need all the help they can get. Once they have that, we get to see some of Ward's past. Turns out, he set the house on fire when he was a teen, with his little brother inside…he didn't know about the brother. Garrett finds him in prison and convinces him to join him, and to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Of course, as soon as Ward agrees, Garrett takes him out into the woods and leaves him there for 6 months, with a dog. Ward could leave at any point, but decides to stick it out. When Garrett returns, he explains that he'd only meant to be gone a few day months, not 6, but was sent on a mission. Not too long after, Garrett shows his mangled side, covered with metal, and explains how he'd been injured in the field. S.H.I.E.L.D. decided not to help, and Garrett swore to get his revenge. Now we know how Garrett and Ward both ended up as apart of HYDRA. Ward's final test, before being accepted into S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA is to shoot the dog he's been with for 6 months. Only,he can't do it...that's a weakness Garrett personally takes care of. Meanwhile, Coulson and May go undercover, looking to have Cybertek take them in as 'ex-scientists of S.H.I.E.L.D." Fitz and Simmons talk them through everything via ear pieces, which leads to some humorous moments. Skye thinks there's a computer mainframe on the 4th floor of the building they're in, so once that failed interview is over, they hit the elevators and go up. Only, Cybertek is far smarter than they seem, and so they don't actually keep digital data, but rater files upon files. May finds the Deathlok cab nit, and they throw it out a window before making a break for it. Skye lets them know that she's written a virus that can track the Bus's movements and thus Ward and Garrett, only, she needs to plug it into one of their HYDRA computers. Fitz and Simmons take off to find the Bus in Cuba, while Skye, Triplet, Coulson, and May head out to find a HYDRA mainframe in a barbershop Garrett, Ward, and Quinn seem to frequent. But, because things can never go right, Fitz and Simmons are caught and brought onto the Bus. Thankfully Fitz has a few of Triplett's grandfather's stuff, like a portable EMP, and a tracking device that looks like a quarter. Fitz sets off the EMP, and Garrett goes down as the cybernetics keeping him alive are fried. Turns out, he needed the secret to Coulson's revival to save himself. Raina ended up making a serum that may help, but it's not the same that resurrected Skye or Coulson. Fitz declares he's not sorry for killing Garrett and that he wants him to die. Ward scrambles to do everything he can to save him. In the distraction, Fitz and Simmons make it to a cargo hold, with Ward close behind. They lock themselves in, and watch as Ward enters a code into the computer, plunging the metal box they're in into the ocean. Raina injects Garrett with the serum she made, and he survives….with what side effects, I'm curious to see. I have a theory on which baddy Garrett becomes, but I am not so sure if I'm right or not. While that's happening Coulson, Skye, Triplett, and May, end up encountering some 'super soldiers' of their own. Quinn is talking about supplying his army of 'super soldiers' to the U.S. government to help save them from both HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. Guys, I'm really worried, next week is the Season finale, which has both good and bad written all over it. Looks like we get a special guest star, and I certainly cannot wait to see what happens! There's so much going on! I hope we get another season, because I don't know how my Tuesday's are going to feel without this show! |
