Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...This week's Gotham kicks off with just as much action as the pilot. Not dropping the ball, the show is determined to win fans all over. As a Batman fanatic myself, I was excited about the prospect of this show. This episode follows the first with little delay, with Gordon still pretending he killed Penguin. This earns him some respect from Bullock, but not a whole lot. Still, the two find a way to work together. Now that Bullock thinks Gordon is one of the many corrupted cops, he listens a bit more. Don't get me wrong, he still likes beating people, but now he listens when Gordon tells him to cool it. So what's going on? The episode is named after my all time beloved feline inspired villains. Selina Kyle isn't Catwoman yet, but she is not to be discounted. A crafty kid growing up on the streets hardens anyone. Selina, who prefers to be called Cat, is a crafty, smart, kid. Having already witnessed the murder of the Wayne's, she seems to run into more trouble. A man and a woman appear from a "food truck" offering snacks to the street kids of Gotham. When the kids take some, the woman stabs them in the back of the neck with a pin. The kids pass out nearly immediately. One kid runs and so does Selina. Both get away, but the kid who ran crashes through a window of a restaurant. The police take him into custody, which means Bullock and Gordon get to interrogate them. Things never work out well then Bullock is involved. The kid is sticking to his story of the crazy people trying to abduct kids by stabbing them with drugged pins. Gordon believes the kid, but doesn't know what to do, so he tells Barbara...who calls the news paper with an anonymous tip about these people stealing street kids. Of which the Captain didn't want to happen. I kind of like this future Mrs. Gordon. Meanwhile, Alfred catches Bruce playing with fire. The kid claims its no big deal, but the butler doesn't believe him. Considering the kid witnessed the murder of his own parents, it's safe to say he's going through some stuff. I'm really not sure how I feel about Alfred saying "mate" and "bloody", but I think there's potential there. Gordon and Bullock track down all three places that supply this magical knock out drug. One company in particular catches their eye, and the two find themselves in a deadly shoot out with our kidnappers. As it turns out, they work for "The Doll Maker". Heard that name before? That's good, because he appeared in the CW show Arrow. Sadly, we don't see his face in this one, but that doesn't stop the episode for being any less creepy. The kids are rescued and the mayor vows to help the kids get help. Three bus fulls' are sent "upstate" to a juvenile facility upstate. Among them is our Selina. On the bus, you guessed it, our man and woman Doll Maker workers. They take the bus to a shipping facility to shove the kids into a shipping container. Selina barely escaped from their inspection, but makes it further into the docks before she's caught by the girl. Gordon saves her at the last second. And in order to stay in Gotham, she makes a deal to give information on the Wayne murder case. With all this going on, the Penguin finally finds a ride and murders one of the men on the car that picks him up. He finds a trailer and rents it. Ransoming the other boy to his parents. Whom don't intend to pay. All while Detective Montoya and Allen investigate the disappearance of young Oswald....Mooney and Falcone have come to an understanding....and by understanding, I mean Falcone is wise to her antics. With so much brewing in Gotham, the show can only get more interesting.

Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Two questions that have been asked for years and will continue to be for many more. But you have to ask yourself, what if the answer is not something that you chose to believe? Would that make you want to find a way to prove it wrong, or would you be able to go out and search for your own answer, one that will make you happy? Qohen Leth is a master programmer that is reaching the end of his rope. Working for the Mancom corporation for many years, he is requesting to start to work from home as he does not see the point of working at a cubical station at the office. Without being able to justify this with any health reason, his request keeps getting pushed back and he requests to speak with Management to get his request processed first hand. With this being a very high end request, his supervisor tries to help him out, but does not have enough pull to really make it happen. Being tricked into going to a party, Qohen is granted his meeting with Management, but after their brief conversation, understands that he will not receive any special treatment, even with all of the work his has completed for the company. Meeting a strange woman, Bainsley at the party, Qohen starts to feel very uncomfortable with the situation and leaves. At the office the next day, Qohen is surprised to hear that his request to work from home has been granted and he will be working on a special project for Management that nobody has been able to crack, the Zero Theorem. When his home retrofitted with everything he needs, Qohen gets to work and as the months go by, he starts to figure out that the answers he is looking for may be unattainable. Flipping out, he is met by Bainsley once again and the allure of the young woman drives him to start looking for other reasons to live. Also being teamed up with Management’s son, Bob, Qohen starts to develop friendships and that starts to frighten him since he has not allowed anyone near him for several years, after he got divorced. Working with people he starts to care for, Qohen understands that there might be more to life than just the work he has been struggling with his entire life, but may not be able to provide the answer that Management is looking for in the end. The Zero Theorem follows Qohen Leth as he is not comfortable with his work and just wants to stay home to complete his daily tasks. With this being granted on one condition, he work on the Zero Theorem, which nobody previously has been able to crack, Qohen is given help in the form of social interaction that he has not craved for many years. Working with Management’s son Bob, Qohen is also given a love interest in the form of Bainsley that will have him open up much more and hopefully find the answers. When Qohen figures out that the answer he is supposed to supply could change everyone’s outlook on life, he questions his work and tries to steer clear, but there is no escaping Management and the work must go on. This movie is slowly moving up my list of favorites and has over taken my favorite Terry Gilliam film, 12 Monkeys that he brought forth in the early nineties. The thing I liked most about this film is that your main star has to deal with his own problems, along with the biggest question in history, why are we here? When someone does not care or have any feelings about their own life, how would they be able to answer the question, at least without the proper motivation. Definitely a thinker movie and it should not be any other way, with a fantastic cast being led by Christoph Waltz and the direction of Terry Gilliam, it will keep you glued to the screen as you wonder where the black hole really is, in the soul or in our future. Happy viewing. Written by ShaeWith the start of the 2014 TV season , there seems to be a promising amount of shows for us to watch. After all, Geeks and Nerds have been growing up and it’s finally our time to shine. That means we get some really cool television shows now, right? So far, things have been pretty good. Sadly, a few of our favorites were canceled, however we still get some amazing things. Doctor Who has already started it’s 8th series, while Supernatural is entering it’s 10th, The Walking Dead gets its 5th, Arrow returns for it’s 3rd, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets its 2nd. With all that, what more could we ask for? So much more. This week Fox premiered Gotham, the pre-Batman themed show that takes a different angle on the legendary hero. Instead of focusing on Bruce Wayne’s established Batman, we get to see the city in all its glory. Including the characters we know and love, and love to hate. Will this interesting spin be enough to keep the show going? Hopefully we do get a little glimpse into more of what led Bruce to become Batman. Also starting this week was a new series on ABC called Forever. This doesn’t sound like any nerdy show I’ve ever seen, but after seeing the trailer, it got me interested. Taking place in New York City, Henry Morgan is a medical examiner with a true gift for solving crime. Another boring crime show, like we’ve not seen our fair share of those, right? Well, there’s a bit more to Mr. Morgan. It seems he just happens to be immortal, and very old. For whatever reason, he cannot die. Anytime he does, he awakens in some body of water, and naked. Why? How? What? I don’t know, I unfortunately missed the premiere this week, but the show is on OnDemand and ABC.com. This, to me, has a very Captain Jack Harkness feel to it, and that’s probably enough reason for me to give this show a shot. And if you are a crime buff, ABC also launched a new show this week called How to Get Away With Murder. A new spin on a crime series taking a closer look into the classrooms of aspiring lawyers and the lessons they learn. With a professor teaching them how to defend clients, guilty or not, the biggest lesson is to not care if the client actually did it or not. But to prove they didn’t regardless. Sounds like my kind of show and something I know my dad would enjoy. Not to be left out of the premiere circuit this week, CBS put their newest series, Scorpion out for the world to see. This show depicts the lives of uber geniuses that are recruited by the government to help solve the worlds’ most complex problems. And, well, keep them from hacking into important government type things. While that may appeal to the tech geek in us, Syfy gave us a taste of some zombie love earlier this month with their show Z Nation. Just as it sounds, this show takes place in a zombie-infested world and follows the lives of people trying to survive. Need I give any more reason to watch it? Now for some up coming shows that need to be watched, I highly suggest tuning in to the CW on October 7th for The Flash. This Arrow spin-off features Barry Allen and his life as the fastest man alive. The origin of Barry’s lab accident took place in Arrow season 2, and the show will fallow his discovery and transformation into the hero we know and love. Of course, we should get some character backstory, and all that fun lovely stuff. But let’s be honest here, I really just want to see him run that iconic run. Come October 24th on NBC is a show I have been long awaiting. I loved the movie and now I am impatiently waiting the start of Constantine the show. In this story arc, Constantine has given up his demon hunting after not being able to save a girls soul from hell. But, the call to action is stronger and drags him right back in. Throw in a sexy Welsh actor, and you’ve got yourself a show I can make Mattie watch with no guilt. Lastly, if you’re a David Tennant fan, than October 2nd on Fox is a show you’re going to want to watch. Gracepoint is a crime drama staring the 10th Doctor himself as our leading investigating homicide detective. Based on the BBC show Broadchurch, the show seems to be filled with murder, mystery, and David Tennant-y-goodness. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Season 2 starts out with a massive bang and right from the get go, this season isn't about to hold anything back. With a bit of a different perspective, the season kicks off with Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos taking over the last of the HYDRA bases. With that, they find the original 0-8-4. Some weird, twisted, metal, that isn't to be touched….but it is locked away and secured by the new organization that will eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D. Flash forward to modern day, and it looks like the fall out from the HYDRA take over is still happening. Or rather, the recovery. Agent Coulson has taken over as the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. which is struggling in numbers. We're meeting a few new faces, and some might just be guest stars. The infamous Lucy Lawless lends her talent to the show and her name to the list of amazing guest starts. Along with a few other new faces, so far the new team seems to be growing. Already, they're working to find out who is loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who is selling secrets. Turns out, more are selling than anything. Coulson has taken it upon himself to meet new potential agents in person. Among those names, however, is not Romanoff or Barton. I'm still holding my hopes for a Black Widow and Hawkeye cameo… In the meantime, HYDRA has a new teammate on their side. Is this guy a mutant? Who knows, but he does have the ability to change his skin to whatever material he chooses. If you ask me, that's pretty mutant like. Either way, he proves to be quite formidable. What's he after? Information on the very first 0-8-4. Of course, the Team doesn't know this just yet, but they know someone who does. Agent Ward has been in the basement the whole duration of the new set up. He'll only speak with Skye however. Begrudgingly, she does go and talk to him. We find out that Ward has attempted to kill himself a few times, but has finally come to terms with what he's done. He swears to never lie to Skye again…and gives her any and all the information she wants. It looks like Fitz is back, but he may not be quite as back as everyone wants. Seeming to struggle with memory and word issues, he's unable to get things out as quick as he used to. But he seems to be alive, and in this show, thats all that matters. Colonel Talbot is back, with a promotion to General. It seems he's the next target of our skin changing man. Only, S.H.I.E.L.D. steps in to save him and his family. While Agent May kicks some serious butt, Talbot is escorted to the new base of operations where Coulson offers him a deal. Talbot doesn't take said deal, wanting to shut down S.H.I.E.L.D. for good. Thankfully, Talbot's men caught the HYDRA agent with the changing skin. Only problem is, they take him to the same place they have all the obtained S.H.I.E.L.D. things. Including the original 0-8-4. Which the team infiltrates and finds. Lawless' character, however, makes the mistake of touching it. Whatever the object is, it takes control and won't let her let it go. Instead it starts to suck the life out of her. One of the newest agents takes her and leaves with the get away car, while May, Skye, and Triplett find what they also came for, a QuinJet. The whole mission was to secure the 0-8-4, and take a QuinJet, which has cloaking capabilities that they need. S.H.I.E.L.D. now has to work in the shadows, behind the scenes. Two major things happened that were a big shock to me. Lawless asks the agent she's with to cut off her arm. Shortly after doing so, the HYDRA agent shows up and crashes their car. He takes the strange object and leaves….only one agent survives. And, we learn that Fitz is really not okay. We thought Simmons was there with him the whole time, helping him say things, like she normally does. Only, Simmons left. Simmons hasn't been there once. The Jemma Fitz is seeing is all in his head, thanks to the severe trauma sustained from saving her. Simmons thought leaving would help him, but it seems to have made things worse. Throughout the premiere, Coulson has been calling the shots, making harder choices. And seems to be a bit different than the Coulson we had in season 1. With all these changes we are still left with many unanswered questions. Is Ward being genuine? Will Simmons come back? Will Fitz ever be okay? And what is with Skye's new haircut? I kind of like it... Written by ShaeWhat comes on tonight? Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Who's super excited about this? Me. And well, everyone else on the team who watched the show. And everyone out there reading this who watched and loved the show just as much as I did. Well, it's back for a second season, and with that I thought I'd recap the first season so we're all excited and ready for what's going to happen! You guys ready!? I'm so stoked it's a little unreal. I need more Marvel in my life. Doesn't everyone? Season one happened…hard. There were some good times; some bad times; and some really emotionally traumatizing times. I'm still not okay with what happened. We learn that Centipede is some evil organization that likes to experiment on people. Why? Because that's what evil organizations do. Mike Peterson just happens to me one of those guys that gets experimented on, and is branded a hero for saving a seemingly innocent doctor from an explosion. Skye, our lovable anarchist hacker, takes it upon herself to 'help' Mike in his new hero role. All is not what it seems of course. Agent Phil Coulson is back from the dead and he's got a new super cool team. A team he hand picked himself, right? Which is why when Skye gets brought onto the team, we're not at all surprised. Soon enough, things happen…Mike's son, Ace, is kidnapped and used against him. Mike is badly injured and made into Deathlok, Skye nearly dies, Coulson finds out Tahiti was a lie, and Fitz and Simmons have still not kissed. Seriously, no kissing and I'm really starting to feel like they need to…but Ward and May do some kissing. Then Ward is kissing Skye. It's all up in the air with who loves who. We thought Fitz and Simmons were a set thing, but then Agent Triplett comes along and ruins the whole thing. That's getting ahead of myself though. Along the way we also find out that Skye is an 0-8-4. Meaning, she's something. They don't really know what she is at all. Does that make her alien? Is she some kind of experiment? We don't know, yet. We also find out that Skye is looking to find out who her parents were. Convinced they're former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, she tries to hack into all the files she can get her hands on. This goes so well, until it doesn't. Eventually, she's brought in as a level 1 Agent, and Ward is the one to train her. Admittedly, I didn't like Skye at first…that is until they tried to kill her, then suddenly I absolutely loved her. Between Skye being shot, and Coulson finding out how he was brought back from the dead, the show had it's twists and turns. but what was so fantastic was how this show interacted with the recently released Marvel movies. With Thor: The Dark World, we got a guest appearance by the Lady Sif, and to see the aftermath of that. Not to mention the possibility for further things down the line. Perhaps the biggest plot arc, however, was that of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Of which, I have now watched a grand total of 16 times since my awesome friend John gave it to me last weekend…because I have. This movie changed everything we knew and loved. It destroyed the structure, tore down the home we had built, and ripped the security blanket that was S.H.I.E.L.D. right out from under us. Having the fall out of that movie appear in the show was spectacular and just proved how much Marvel ties all its ends together. In the end, we see a broken S.H.I.E.L.D. struggling to try and repair itself. The biggest betrayal, however, was finding out Ward, the handsome Agent we knew and loved, was a HYDRA member. The entire season, a friendship, a family, broken and filled with lies. Yet, that was not the end for our heroes as they rebounded as best they could. Agent Triplett became a part of the team, as a relative of a Howling Commando, and a sort of bandaid for the hurt caused. It seemed like things were finally looking up. But not all escaped unscathed… With the starting of the new season, we're left with so many more questions. It seems Skye's parents are still alive, HYDRA has caused far more damage than we'll ever know. And Agent Coulson may not be as unaffected by his resurrection as thought….thankfully, we don't have to wait too long to find out where the second season will take us, as soon it will begin. There are some things a geeky bride must take absolutely serious. Or not serious, I'm not really an expert on anything. I just know, that when it comes to wedding dresses, most of us geek out. Maybe it’s a chance to be have on a gorgeous dress, and be the only one being the center of attention. All I know, is along my way and search for wedding dresses (which I totally have never done before now), I have found my favorite picks. How're these nerdy? Well, the collection I found is by a designer named Alfred Angelo and he has a line of wedding dresses inspired by Disney Princesses. It does not get nerdier than that. Admittedly, I've spent many a night looking through the collection and geeking out over the new editions. Angelo has a dress to suit any princess and her preferences. This one here is my favorite. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast, this dress is made to resemble Belle's formal yellow dress. This movie holds a special place in my heart as I obsessed about this movie as a kid. Now as an adult, I can do the very same. Only, it's a bit different. Belle has a few different dresses, but this one is my all time favorite. This dress is made with draped satin and detailed with crystal beading in the corset style top. The sleeve looking things, or the shrug as the website calls it, is detachable, so if its not your thing, you can take it off. With hints of metallic and gold embroidering, this dress will look a million dollars. Yet, it will only set you back by $1,300 dollars. At Angelos’ website, AlfredAngelo.com, you can find your Disney princess dress and even see if it's in stores near you. They also have pictures with real people, not just models (models are real people too, but you know what I mean) wearing the very dress you're looking at. One of the newest creations is inspired by Disney's Tangled; known as Rapunzel, this dress is made with various materials, including organza, and even has pear, and rhinestones. This dress comes with a stunningly gorgeous cape, but can be purchased without it. If you're like my childhood friend Cass, than you'd be giddy with delight to know that this collection also comes with a Cinderella inspired dress. Each dress in the collection has at least one, if not more, alternate version, so people can get what they're looking for. As someone who loves Disney, I must admit I was beyond excited to find this collection and designer. Over the years, I've fallen in love with every single dress this man makes, and I’m always giddy when I see a new dress has been added. Angelo has made sure to cover nearly every Disney princess we all know and love. Of course, some are unaccounted for, but the collection seems to always be growing. So, while not all of the princesses are represented, yet, that’s not to say they never will be. I always have hope of more and more being added. From this Snow White inspired dress, to Tiana and Jasmine, these dresses have been making a splash, and a bold statement. Earlier this week, it was declared, that an Elsa inspired dress from the infamous movie Frozen was going to be made. Now, I've never been excited about the prospects of a new wedding dress being released, before, but I have to admit I am really excited to see the finished product. If the wedding gowns aren't really your interest, or you're just looking for Bridesmaids dresses, fear not. Angelo has a collection of those too. Made to go along with his Disney Collection or as stand-alone pieces. The Disney Maidens collection are made with the same amount of thought and care just as the bridal gowns. Now, I've been a bridesmaid once before and even helped friends look, and I can say it's hard to find really pretty, elegant, dresses that every girl in a bridal party can agree upon. Thankfully, I've not found a single dress that this designer has made that I don't like. Even the bridesmaid dresses are stunningly beautiful. Just like the bridal gowns, the bridesmaids’ dresses are made with high quality fabrics and have some pretty beautiful embellishments. In varying styles, a bride can accessories her compatriots in stunning dresses that come in many different colors. With fun names, such as Jet and Valentine and Plum, it’s not hard to find one that matches the theme and taste of each bride. The only complaint I have about the bridesmaids’ dresses is that they don’t have fun names, like the bridal gowns do. Calling them just styles and numbers is cute, but I suppose that’s the designer’s choice. These dresses are able to be mixed, matched, and arranged in any way the heart desires. Along in varying sizes, they offer a bride a lot of options. Of course, there is one other important dress to consider when thinking of weddings. The flower girl is often an important role at these special occasions. Having been one once, I can say it’s a pretty snazzy gig. Angelo has a line of flower girl dresses as well as one, Disney Blossoms to accompany his magical line. These dresses are mini versions of the bridal gowns that will tie the theme together, or maybe just make a little girl really be a princess for a day too. With such a joyous event in life, everyone should be made to feel utterly gorgeous. Accessories are a bridal must for some. Thankfully, you can find them on this site too. From capes, to wraps, to cloaks, and sashes, there’s an accessory for every bride out there. Perhaps the most amazing thing I’ve found on this side are the line of Disney inspired Veils. After all, you’ve got the dress collections, why not go over the top and bring in veils. This particular veil, also named Repunzel, is Cathedral length, is duel layered, and embroidered. Coming in two different styles, a shorter one and this one, and is available in ivory or white. With a veil like this, any bride is bound to feel like a princess. With so much more to offer, I highly recommend checking out the rest of Angelo’s website. The only thing that has yet to be covered on this site are shoes. Then again, with a stunning gown shoes are just a side thought. Who am I kidding, I just recommend a pair of red converse and to enjoy the evening pain free. But that’s another blog for another day. |
