Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...This week we learn that Rudy used to be a child model! This isn't helpful to the plot whatsoever, but is a cool random fact. Aside from learning awesome things about Rudy we also see a murder! (When do we not see murder on this show?) This time, it's not really personal but catches the attention of Valerie Stahl. The victim in question happens to be like her, a Chrome. Chrome's, as it turns out, are genetically engineered from birth. It's expensive for the parents, but the kids get the best genetics and a long, disease free, life. Which is what tips her off that the victim was murdered. What was ruled as a heart attack turns into an investigation the spans many dead bodies. Thankfully two nanobots were left behind. A tiny puncture wound in the back of each victims neck links all the murders together. So what's going on? Well, in the year 2048 plastic surgery has evolved with nano technology. The bots take the desired features from a donor and replicate the features in the patient. Only, that program was discontinued since the procedure sent the donor into cardiac arrest. Which leads us to a disgruntled trial patient who's face was disfigured by the whole thing, also a side effect for patients. With the help of an unlicensed doctor, our murderer has been rebuilding his identity to look perfect for a girl he met online. When Kennex finally pins the guy down on her rooftop, the guy decides to jump instead. Apparently suicide was a better way out. Kennex is rattled but he gets the confidence to kind of ask Valerie out for drinks. Only, she's got a date. Let the pining continue!

Written by ShaeTuesday February 18th, the Buntport Theater put on a very interesting show. Now, I've never even heard of Buntport theater, but a friend recently discovered them and their amazing shows. This week's event was called "The Great Debate", where two teams, of four each, debate in a high school like fashion on a particular topic. This week was Star Trek vs. The Renaissance Festival. These two could not be more different if they tried. Well, all involved are comedians to some extent, and their pros and cons for either side are utterly hilarious. I laughed the entire time. Before you even get into the show, you have to pay for your tickets. There's no set price at the door, however. You get to push a Boggle/Trouble like bubble with dice in it and the number dictates the price of the ticket. Or, if you want, you can also reserve and pay for them online for a set price (But that's not as fun!). Then you get snacks in the next room, which you pay for however much you have on you, and then you pick your seats in the little theater, it's cozy. This time they had a guy taking a 'poll' on who was voting for which side to win. Intermittently, there are shameless plugs of other events coming up. Some people got really into character when debating their particular side.I will say, those rooting for the Ren Fair were far more dedicated to their acts than anything. One guy came out in a full suit of armor. On the Star Trek side, only one guy was dressed properly. Either way, there was laughing, singing, and of course, swearing and raunchy jokes. It was a close call, and while it was all hilarious (I laughed, literally, the entire time.) the end result proved to settle the debate for all time. Star Trek won, because it's awesome. The voting style is interesting. It's done in a 'Stand for this group. Sit for the other group' fashion. At the end of it, everyone shakes hands, laughs, and goes home happy. The theater offers several events a week as well as plays and various other performances. They also have many a family friendly show. So, if you're interested in checking them out, please go to Buntport.com. Written by ShaeThis week a new challenge arose with a state of the art security system that killed its owners. Revenge of the artificial intelligence? Or a personal attack by crazed hacker? Both isn't an option, sadly. That's alright, because you can bet Detective Kennex and Dorian are on the case. Who better? We start, however, with Rudy messing around with Dorian's brain/memory/processors? Dorian, or course, is not happy. Not that I blame him. Not everything is as it seems with Dorian. He keeps having staring flashes of memory after that. Meanwhile, we learn that a 16 year old kid was shot and killed my an automated security system a year ago. In response, the couple of the house had been receiving many death threats from various cyber groups and people. Later to couple is murdered by the very own security system. Kennex and Dorian set out to talk to the company that manufactures the very system. Who claim to have no idea what could have gone wrong. The idea is that a hacker broke into the system. But the company denies the possibility of that. Thankfully, these two are more stubborn than anything. With some help from Rudy (who was an awesome hacker in his day) and the help of Valerie, they track down a suspected hacker who may have been responsible for the murders. Of course, nothing is that simple, and soon the Lawyer of the security company ends up being killed by the same security system. The hacker they caught has no idea what was going on and no involvement in the matter. Does this mean they're back to square one? Not really. The hacker decides to help them find the real killer. Soon Kennex and Dorian are back at security office trying to find the owner and save her. Which they do! The hacker, was really the dead kids friend. The kid had been shot trying to get to her house. The murder was a complete accident. She, however, chose to get revenge on everyone involved of the murder of the guy she loved. After all is said and done, Rudy confronts Kennex about his findings in Dorians hard drive/memory/brain. Apparently, there were several encrypted files. Kennex wants to tell the android, but Rudy says they can't. Not yet, anyway. Not until he finds out the source of the hidden files. Begs the question of what a synthetic soul really is? And how was it made? Dorian claims the memory is his and as if he lived it; a child in a hospital bed, playing with a train.... Written by ShaeWhat happens in the future when you can print your own drugs? Awesome things. Unless you accidentally overdose…then you die and then it's not awesome…Yay! This week on Almost Human Kennex and Dorian investigate the sudden deaths of two teenage girls. The odd thing is these two girls died at the same time, but in different locations, of the same thing. Kennex is having flashbacks about his accident and old girlfriend. He brushes it off as no big deal, but when he blacks out driving, it turns out to be a very big deal. Especially if you're Dorian. Thankfully, the case is simple to solve, for once, and it turns out that these girls weren't the only ones to die. There was a third girl who died preciously and everyone just assumed it was also a drug overdose. Of course, nothing's that simple. Turns out, these drugs are being specifically manufactured based on someone's DNA to make them feel even better. The other side to this drug? Well, it's meant for Chromes. What're those? Kids that have had their DNA altered. The first girl to die, however, wasn't a Chrome. Her death was a suicide as revealed by a video she left her late boyfriend. Angered, the mother hired a hacker to break into the printer of said boyfriend being used to create these drugs. This caused the other two girls to overdoes accidentally. After the case, Kennex finally decides that he's done trying to figure out why his old girlfriend had betrayed him. Just as he stows away all his notes, he get's a call from forensics. The little Russian doll she'd left him was painted with nano radio transmitters. That had been transmitting audio files of Kennex to an unknown location. What's with that!? She's obviously still alive and out there, so something's going on. Why spy on Kennex? What secrets does his faulty memory still hold? What's going to happen when we find the truth? Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I'm still not okay with what they did to Coulson. This weeks episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a few plot twists that left us reeling! Unlike the previous episodes, this one decided to tell it's plot through multiple points of view. Which was really fantastic! In an attempt to track down the Clairvoyant, the Team heads it Italy and goes undercover on a train to track a package being delivered to him/her. Cybertek, run by Quinn, seems to be working with/for Centipede, which never ends well for anyone. Thankfully, Coulson and the Team step in to 'help' Italian police track down and stop these illegal 'runs' that Cybertek is doing via their trains. Skye and Fitz pose as boyfriend and girlfriend, and (Fitz pulls off an amazing American accent!) gain access to the luggage car where they set up their computers and run coms. Coulson and Simmons get to play father and daughter with the 'ashes' (which ends up being a tracking device) of Simmons fake mom. Ward plays train attendant while May takes to the top of the train. (Nothing is cooler than walking on the top of a train. It's every kids dream!) From here, we get to see what happens to each group. As it turns out, the Italian police have been helping Cybertek out and taking a cut from their profits. They tip off Quinn's men to the Team's whereabouts. Ward and Coulson leap off the train, but get hit with something. For them, it looks like the train just disappears. In reality, they get frozen in time for a bit. May gets thrown from the train and nearly killed by the police chief. Thankfully, she's awesome and gets away. She even saves Ward and Coulson from the guy. Simmons gets hit with one of those time grenade things, which is a lot like their 'night-night-gun'; trying to save Fitz and Skye. They leave her in the baggage area of the train and follow Quinn and his men with the package. Skye goes into the house this is taking place at while Fitz disables the cars… Michael shows back up! Turns out, he's working for Centipede again….he has no choice with one of those eye-bombs-of-doom in him. They control his every move. Quinn reveals what's in the case. Turns out its a high tech prosthetic leg. While Michael goes upstairs, Quinn shoots Skye twice. By the time the Team finds them, Michael is gone and Skye is barely alive. Some quick thinking saves her, for now. With Skye in critical condition, the Team is in shambles. She needs medical attention and even that might not be enough to save her. We're left with that cliffhanger and watching Michael stare at his kid, being denied to see Ace. The side of his leg reads "Project Deathlok." Sadly, we have to wait until March 4th to find out of Skye pulls through. (Surely she has to!) Oh! The most amazing part of this episode was seeing Stan Lee make a guest appearance! We knew Stan would be on the show, we just didn't know how. Turns out, he's a train passenger, who overhears Simmons' made up story on how Coulson abandoned her and her mother in London for his job. Stan sympathizes with her and tells Coulson to be a better father. It was utterly brilliant and fantastic. From the sounds of it, Jamie Alexander (Syf in Thor) will be making a guest appearance on the show. Who knows who else will get to make some cameos. I've still got my fingers crossed for Black Widow and Hawkeye. It is a show about S.H.I.E.L.D. after all, and who better than that dynamic duo. Of course, I also wouldn't mind seeing Mockingbird brought to life! What Marvel character would you guys most like to see make an appearance on the show? Written ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Hey guys! Sorry for the hiatus! But I am on the mend and back to bring you my take on this weeks Almost Human! But first! A huge thank you to Mattie who was amazing enough to cover a lot of things for me. Not to mention taking care of me. My best friend, she's kind of awesome; I guess we can keep her. Speaking of best friends, I think Kennex and Dorian would be lost without the other. They each save each other's butts enough! This week, Kennex pulled out all the stops in saving Dorian from an evil android named Danica. As it turns out, Danica is a DRN that went rampant some time ago and all that remained after the assault was over was her head. Should mean that she's done for, right? Except that someone just happens to attach that head to a body and boom! Danica the murdering android is back and boy is she murdering…. Kennex and Dorian take to the case, hunting down her creator, Dr. Nigel Vaughn. Who, just so happened to also create Dorian…That has to be a weird feeling; meeting your maker; literally. Kennex thinks so too, enough to comment on it. Nigel helps them track down Danica and in the end, she's targeting specific people. People who helped shut down Nigel's operation and ruined his career. By the time they figure out Nigel is behind all of it; that the whole thing was a distraction in order for him to get his collection of 'artificial souls' back…he's gone. Danica nearly kills both Kennex and Dorian, but Kennex saves them both and destroys the evil android for good. In the end, Nigel is missing (gone over the wall), and Dorian is questioning his existence. So what's next? What's over the wall? What's going to happen!? Does Dorian have the potential to turn evil too? (Did anyone watch the Matrix? Be nice to robots!) Written by ShaeHey guys! Back again with some more awesome finds! I hope you've enjoyed what I've found so far. I've enjoyed looking for these ideas! A bouquet says so much and is always a V-Day staple in many situations. But why get that special someone flowers when you can get them something that will last forever? Like a Bouquet of Unicorns! Just imagine the smile on their face when you hand them a beautiful bundle of plush unicorns! This also comes in kitten form and can be found on ThinkGeek. Plushes are just a great and amazing gift. If that's not what you're looking for, there is always a bouquet of candy bars! I've seen these in King Soopers! But, hey, why settle for any candy bar, when you can give them something special. Boxes of chocolates are always a win, but what about something unique. Chocolate dice, anyone? Guy or gal, these sweets are in the shape of the gaming dice we all know and love. You don't have to be into gaming to appreciate delicious chocolate. And, if that's not your thing, good news! These confections can also be found in other fun nerd forms. Han Solo's frozen chocolate form can be found on ThinkGeek along with the dice and these can be found also on Amazon. There's also Zombie themed chocolate bars and other fun confections. Now, this last idea of the day came as a suggestion from my friend Nic and I just checked it out. I have to admit, I am a bit jealous I didn't know about this before. LootCrate.com is a site where you can subscribe and receive a monthly box. The catch? You have no idea what will be in the box. Now, this may not be the most romantic of gifts, but with several subscription options, this could be a reoccurring gift to show your love for months to come. They have Vynils, shirts, stickers, action figures, glasses, and other random objects. The best part is, the surprise of not knowing what's in the box! It's unconventional, unique, and something every nerd can appreciate. |
