Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Are you ready for the season finale? I was…until John shared Clark Gregg's tweet with me…then I wasn't. Know that I will never lie to you guys, I cried during this episode. I cried rather hard at one particular part. So, if you're ready, lets recap this journey together. Remember, that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. did get a second season, so we will get more Marvel awesomeness in the fall! Okay, so we start where we left off last episode. Agent's May, Triplett, and Coulson are fighting those super soldiers while Skye is uploading that tracking virus of hers onto the HYDRA mainframe. Just so happens one of the soldiers has the Berserker Staff from a few episodes back, and May gets her hands on it. Never let it be said that she isn't a total BAMF because she delivered. Triplett gets hurt, but Skye gets the virus uploaded in time, just as May sets the building to collapse and the team leaves as soon as they can. Simmons and Fitz managed to get a tracker onto the Bus, and with Skye's virus, they find where Garrett, Ward and the Bus are. But, they've not found Simmons and Fitz; who happen to be at the bottom of the ocean. Fitz has broken his arm, but they're both alive…only, there's no escape and it looks like the two will die before they can be rescued. Still, Fitz managed to make a weak homing signal in hopes of their team finding them. Meanwhile, Garrett has totally lost his mind and is carving things into glass. Ward is a bit concerned with the weird behavior and lack of orders. He's also questioning if this HYDRA thing was a real thing that they're still behind, or, well, what? Raina doesn't seem to have a care in the world, though. Turns out, she's fascinated with the transformation of their leader. While that's going on, Fitz and Simmons have devised a way out of their trap. A make shift bomb will break the seal and the glass, allowing the water to rush in, and theoretically one of them to escape. Fitz has a breathing thing that will give one of them a burst of air into their lungs, allowing one to swim out and to the surface. It's a long shot, but he's willing to do whatever it takes to save Simmons. Inadvertently, he ends up letting the biologist know how he feels. Simmons refuses to do this and leave Fitz to die. Before she can even argue, he detonates the charger and leaves her with no choice. Simmons takes Fitz with her, and as she's surfacing and trying not to panic, a helicopter appears above her. In it, none other than Nick Fury. He saves them both, but Fitz is badly injured and went too long without air...but he actually manages to make it through...barely. Our team hits the enemy head on. It's just the four of them, so taking over the nearest Cybertek building near the Bus shouldn't be hard, and it really isn't! Skye fakes having a bomb and takes over the compound while Triplett and Coulson cause a distraction. Once everything is secure, she's hacked into the mainframe and able to communicate with Mike, aka Deathlok. Meanwhile, one of the Cybertek worker's 'resets' the soldiers to 'default' which happens to be "protect Garrett". This is exactly what Coulson wanted, so he takes off to follow the soldiers. Ward has finally gotten orders. He's been told to go get Skye and that's what he does. Of course, he appears all threatening with his gun out, like he's going to shoot her. She calls his bluff and then May shows up to take out some much needed aggression out on that betraying little b--seriously, I will never forgive Ward. Ever. But May does a fantastic job of kicking his butt. She takes a few decent blows as the two are seemingly matched, but May is far too clever. She wins in the end, and Ward is left drooling on the floor. Coulson finally confronts Garrett who is talking three kinds of crazy. As it turns out, he's got his soldiers there to take Coulson out. Nick chooses then to show up, and they handle the soldiers, leaving Deathlok and Garrett. Just as Deathlok is about to take action, Skye finds his son, Ace, and sends a message to him. Knowing his son is safe, Deathlok, now more like Mike, attacks Garrett, stomps a hole through his chest, and puts an end to everything. Once reunited, everyone's back on the Bus, and Coulson has a few choice words with Fury. The project used to save him was meant to save an Avenger. Fury reveals that that's exactly what the project was used for. I'm not going to lie, I 'awed' at this moment, because Phil really is an Avenger! After that, we see another secret base. Fury wants Coulson to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. and Koenig is back…kinda. Sorta. It's Eric's twin brother Billy. Either way, new secret base, new mission set, and everything from this season is wrapped up. We're left with two leads to the second season. Raina visits a man, who turns out to be Skye's father. And Coulson wakes to draw the same scribbles on the wall that Garrett did. All in all, a fantastic set up for season 2! I can hardly wait!
