Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...This is going to be a vastly different recap for Sense8 today because well...I'm starting to have some concerns for this show. I like the characters, I think they are all vibrant and fascinating people. I like the premise, it's a unique idea to tie eight people's minds together. There's a lot to like, there really is, but something is missing from the show and to me, "Demons" put that missing component for the show front and center. Was an awful episode? Not at all. It had its moments for sure. After all, Riley's story was pretty freaking intense. Sun and Capheus' story is getting pretty sorrowful as we watch them begin to regret their decisions and hey, the Sensates managed to discover that certain emotions and experiences, including the most sensual and sexual ones can be shared by all. But what is it that's missing from the show? Well...quite simply...a plot. I'm having big time trouble with the fact that they have set up this grand universe and did it in amazing fashion really, only to do nothing past that point. What happened in the first five minutes of the show was kind of a big deal, it gave us a grand villain, a purpose for the Sensates that would no doubt culminate into something epic. But...it hasn't. It's frustrating to say the least because while I have enjoyed a lot of what the show has thrown at us, I need more. I need the plot to get going and every episode seems to be cooking on the same formula. Resolve last week. Some stuff happens and the Sensates ponder over the fact that they are connected and/or might be crazy...set up what appears to be that greater purpose or hint at how important they are and fade to black. Something has got to give at some point and what frustrated me the most about this episode is that the formula became a tad boring. Now I get it. It's a new concept, a new type of show altogether and there are growing pains. This is clearly one of them, I was just hoping for something more by now. It doesn't mean I'm going to abandon the show outright. After all, I am six episodes in, halfway there and there's no going back now because I do want to at some point eat my own words and rave about the series as a whole. But as it stands now, "Demons" served as more of the same, and that's unfortunate because this is a show that can be so much more and I really do hope it finds its stride, soon. Until next time.

Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Turns out that Sense8 is not a show without humor since the fifth episode in the series is the first time I found myself laughing pretty hard at some well done comedy and quite frankly, it's something the series needed at this point in time. After all, we've been dealing with heartbreaking decisions and solid scares from the get go. So there's really nothing wrong with letting loose, allowing the characters and the audience to have a good time before getting back to business and while there were laughs to be had, "Art Is Like Religion" is also the first episode in the series that really allowed for the Sensates to interact with one another without something wild, crazy or life threatening come into play. It made for some genuinely touching scenes in fact. Oddly enough, those touching scenes in question involved Capheus, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters on the show because of how outright good the man really is and how he truly believes in doing things for others. It's refreshing to see an agenda that involves making life better for other people over anything else. It's unfortunate that it is clearly going to get the young man in trouble with Silas at some point I'm sure. But his wonderful outlook on the world and his lovely moment with Sun leads to the young lady deciding to help out her family after all and turn herself in. While it was a dark moment for Sun, it was really the only dark moment in the episode. We were treated to Kala's wedding at last and despite her reservations it was quite a lovely occasion. Minus a surprise appearance by Wolfgang in her mind. Plus, as I mentioned before, there was plenty of comedy courtesy of Lito. Turns out not only can the Sensates share one another's lives and interact in moments...they can also share a menstrual cycle and Lito just happened to share Sun's and the end result was hysterical. But despite all the fun this episode provided, there was of course the bigger threat out there to deal with and with Nomi now on the run, she and Amanita are starting to realize that Doctor Metzger is likely wrong about Nomi dying from whatever is happening in her mind and well...they want answers and they are going to find them and that's where leave our intrepid new friends for this episode. I like the subtle setup that Nomi is about to start digging and I have a funny feeling they are about to uncover something incredible and we will no doubt be seeing that mysterious man we met in the opening moments of the show once again. Until next time. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I found the title of this episode of Sense8 to be extremely humorous for one particular reason. One of the people that told me I had to see this show had a warning for me. They told me that when I watched the show, I better make sure I give it every opportunity because the story doesn't quite get rolling until the fourth episode and well, many a critic had trouble making it out of the first three. Turns out my friend was right, there was a decidedly different feel to the fourth episode, a level of confidence and cohesion that seemed to permeate from not only the story, but the characters and while the plot may not have totally taken a massive jump and revealed all to us, the people that are now sharing a mind sure did and we did get a touch of answers in "What's Going On?" Now the last episode certainly allowed us to know that these eight people were going to be capable of many great things when they combined their efforts. While this episode reinforced that fact in the final few minutes of the show, more on that in a moment, we have to talk about some of the incredibly moving character pieces that came to bear in this episode. First and foremost, let's start with our mysterious street fighter Sun. Specifically those mysterious phone calls she was getting and the scary hint that the authorities were to be involved. Turns out she discovered her idiot brother had been stealing from the company and the only way to save it...is for her to take the fall. Granted she doesn't decide this go round, but I'll be damned if it wasn't a tough part of the episode to watch, and man...what a position to be in. To save a life and the lives of others by letting their sins become your own is something you rarely see in television but such heavy themes didn't end there. Capheus' story needs to be discussed as well, as he was now viewed as quite the badass and quite the hero for his ass kicking actions in the last episode, so much in fact that he earned the nickname Van Damme. But there are consequences for his actions. The thugs he brought down were well connected with the most corrupt and powerful man in the city and well...unfortunately every man has his price and the kingpin meets Capheus, and manages to buy him off with medication for his mother. In fact this episode seemed to weigh heavy with the themes of cause and effect before finally returning to the handful of answers about the Sensates and their "purpose" if you will. Unfortunately, the answers were still vague, and I would say at this point I should be angry about that, but this show is all about the slow burn and the payoff so...I'm good with it. I have a feeling we will get what we want, but Jonas did provide a touch of insight on how the group interacts mentally and relayed the message as to how important this group is to one another, which finally allowed for Will to save Nomi's life...by choice. He truly managed to work his ability and get her into the clear and that's a wonderful thing because it was hard to tell if Nomi was going to make it or not. Either way, this show continues to be a fascinating mix of character drama and sci fi spectacle and I like the fact that the sci fi theme is quickly slipping its way into the drama. Bit by bit the Sensates power is being revealed and it's those little tidbits they feed us that has myself and so many others hooked. Can't wait to see what happens next, until then. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Every time I settle in to watch Netflix's Sense8 I always come away impressed with the new things the show is managing to do, especially when it comes to character development. After all, we've got eight characters to deal with here and rather than just narrow the focus down and lock in on a few, everyone gets their fair share of screen time. While episode two centered in on Will and Nomi, Episode Three, "Smart Money Is on the Skinny Bitch" locked in on the stories of Sun, Capheus, with a dash of Lito and a poignant ending. The dash of Lito I mentioned mattered because this poor young man is actually going through quite a struggle that we rarely see in storytelling, the fact that he is working hard to hide from the world that he is a homosexual. It's only amplified for him due to the fact that he happens to be a movie star. While his story this episode wasn't a major plot driver for the Sensates as a whole, who cares? It was a fascinating and heartbreaking slice of life to watch the process of this man work extremely hard to keep up the lie, even when the lie may get him into a little bit of hot water when his "girlfriend's" psychotic ex comes by to say hello. While Lito dealt with his mess however, we learned that there are concerns about where money is going exactly in Sun's company and that to deal with stress she takes part in underground street fighting and Capheus really is struggling with getting by in life. After all, his mother is slowly dying from AIDS and every penny he earns is going to making sure his mother can live to see another day. Thankfully he gets his hands on the medication she so desperately needs when fate decides to strike and in another attempt to make an honest day's living, Capheus and everyone on board his taxi van ends up being robbed and that's when the show decides to give a real taste of what the Sensates are all about. In a masterful stroke of storytelling, Capheus decides he will not let this robbery stand and goes after the thugs, giving them a beating until they begin to give that beating back, forcing the connection between he, Sun and Will to come to life and well...they are all able to help Capheus beat his foes by letting their own unique talents work through him. This was an awesome way to show off the power of what these eight can do and well...I think this was the moment that demonstrates just how great of a force these people can become and why there are forces already working against them. I was also a big fan of the fact this week that we got a deeper look into the darker secrets of these characters. I mean seriously, who thought Sun would spend her free time wailing on people for money and I'm quite curious to learn more about Will's past and the murder that haunts him. But kudos to the show for once again just surprising us in the final minutes by advancing the plot without spoon feeding us the exposition. It's one of the strengths of this show, the fact that the story is allowed to advance organically and that without a single word spoken, we can tell exactly what's going on. Either way, now we know what the Sensates are fully capable of, and it's freaking awesome. Until next time. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I am quickly learning that Sense8 is going to be quite the ride. In two episodes I've discovered that this show is incredibly complex, incredibly cerebral and quite frankly a masterpiece when it comes to storytelling. The second episode packed more into one hour than some shows can pack into a season and I am grateful to find this refreshing little gem so let's get right down to talking about "I Am Also a We". This episode was a sneaky one to say the least. Because it started out as almost a carbon copy of last week, showing us the day to day lives of the eight people now tied to one another mentally, while throwing in some themes regarding the past and what it means to us and how it defines us. The episode did such a fine job of making it look like the pilot, that it completely took me off guard when it decided to ramp up the plot and begin to unveil the grand plan for the show by switching gears and focusing on Nomi and Will Gorski. It also did that in masterful fashion, specifically through Nomi's injury after spotting the mysterious Jonas in a crowd. It truly seemed like her story was going to revolve around her mental health, her insane and overbearing mother when the show added the beautiful twist of Amanita finally getting through to her via phone and letting her know there was an odd amount of security around her room and the fact that Jonas was in no way a hallucination, the man was as real as they come, and just like that the show had a different feel to it, and Will Gorski's story reinforced that. In fact so far, to me at least, Will seems to be the one man furthest along in his development of his new powers and the most heroic of the characters. After all he saved that gangbanger's life in the first episode regardless of the hell it brought upon him from his fellow brothers of the badge, and at the moment he is the only character that seems to understand bigger things are at work here and he needs to know exactly what is going on. This of course makes his impressive and action packed meeting with Jonas all the more important since this is the most interaction one of the Sensesate's has had with this mysterious man to date. Either way, while the episode ends on a cliffhanger, it's still a satisfying one through and through for the sheer fact that the plot is now moving along full speed and I really am impressed with how the show is handling this epic story. By bringing so much every day life to the screen it allows the story to be down to earth and relatable to each and every one of us. After all, when it comes to our every day lives there's rarely a grand set up when something important arrives and that's exactly what we are getting on the show, every day life and then...surprise. I'm betting that means the plot is only going to get way more intense from here. Until next time. Guys! It’s almost Father’s Day…so what’re we going to get our dads? Well, if your dad is anything like my dad, then it can be hard to shop for him. Mostly because he just goes and buys whatever he wants. That happens sometimes, but thankfully the internet and the wonderful world of stores we have available at our fingertips are here to help! Don’t worry, I’m here with idea’s for the nerd dad, the quietly geeky dad, and the dad that’s totally not remotely into anything cool…because like us, dad’s come in varying shades of nerd, just like us. Regardless, for your awesomely, nerdy, dad, who might totally be into super heroes, there’s always a personalized touch to everything. Over on ThinkGeek you might find this really cool SuperDad! Mug! We all know my stances on mugs, they’re awesome, you can never have enough, and who wouldn’t want to sip their beverages out of something totally awesome? For just $12.99, this SuperDad mug can show your dad just what you think of him…after all, Dad's are often our first heroes. Of course, you can also get dad a travel mug too! Coffee, tea, and whatever else is pretty portable in liquid form, and nothing has people at the office talking more than a cool mug….and how Jared in accounting totally messed up the Anderson account…you had one job Jared! No, but seriously, travel mugs are just as good an idea as any, and for dad, they can be as nerdy or not as he likes. Totally into Star Trek, boom, travel mug in three different colors! If dad isn’t nerdy, however, then my biggest recommendation for a travel mug is Starbucks. I actually use their giant metal travel coffee mugs for my water. They keep the ice water super cold (like, ice in the cup after 8 hours cold), and drinks super-hot. They’re perfect, and wonderful, but might set you back at nearly $30. This year for my dad I felt like he might need a tie. Alright, admittedly I owe him a tie. He has plenty, and well, I needed one for my Crowley cosplay…sadly, dad’s tie never got returned. The plus side is I have a really cool tie! The down side is, I probably should be a good daughter and replace his. Well, ThinkGeek has a wide variety of ties as well. Especially since we geeks can dress fancy and still show off our nerd side. Subtle in design, or as loud as possible, a geek tie is the perfect way to spice up any office wear. But, maybe dad doesn’t want or need a tie, and instead wants something he can wear just whenever. Good news! ThinkGeek also has Polo’s! Like this HYDRA polo that my dad won’t be getting, because maybe some of us aren’t over the betrayal that was HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D. Nevertheless, this polo does look pretty snazzy, and there are several other options on the site. Shirts of all nerdiness can also be found on ThinkGeek. You can also find them at Target, Kohls, Walmart, and Amazon. Not to mention HotTopic….which has its own variety of awesome nerdy Dad’s day Dad stuff. Like an entire wall of Pop Figures…because we know everyone is addicted to them. Everyone. It’s a fact. Plus, there’s a POP for nearly every nerd genre out there. But, let’s face it, not all dad’s, or people, like those things. It’s okay, it happens. There’s plenty of other things dad can appreciate. In the Humor Section of your local Bookstore, you might find some hilariously awesome books. I’ve managed to find several for my dad over the years, and my mom. They’re worth a good look and a good laugh. Lastly, however, is the idea of doing something personalized for dads. It’s often times the little things that they love and will bring a smile to their faces. My dad was hoping for a homemade pie this year…sadly, nobody in the family makes pies, so he’ll have to settle for store bought. But when you make something you make can be as nerdy, or as not-nerdy, as you want, but above all, it’s personal… And if all else fails, just get dad a copy of Scotty’s Cook Book with a note that says “After mom’s gone, you’re next”. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...You have to give it to Netflix. Not only did they up their game and bring forth better movies for everyone to watch, but they are truly beginning to revolutionize television by putting together some incredible original content the likes of which we have never seen. In fact I've been hearing about many of these shows non stop but so far only a couple have truly caught my eye, one of them being Sense8. I have heard day and night that this is a show that I need to watch so I decided the time had come at last and did just that and checked out the pilot episode, "Limbic Resonance". Now I have to say, this was a unique viewing experience for certain. After all, this pilot episode is a slow burning one as we are introduced into the lives of eight people around the world who are quickly discovering they have ability to see one another's lives and interact within them following their activation after a mysterious woman named Angel sacrifices herself in front of an ominous man. The group we are introduced to are quite diverse to say the least, coming from all walks of life, none of them seem to be related and some seem to be good human beings, others seem to have made some poor choices along the way. But regardless of their history, their future is clearly something special as we see their special ability begin to bind them in incredible fashion. But yes, that's really what that first hour is about, and if it seems like a plot that simply introduces us to people and lets us hang out with them is a boring way to kick this whole thing off...it's not, in fact I like this new and unique approach to a pilot episode. The characters are fascinating people, all in various places in their lives that you want to know about, but more importantly its obvious that the show's creators, the legendary Wachowskis and talented writer J. Michael Straczynski are about to unleash a grand plan upon all of us and this is merely the set up. Yet even if we weren't in for what's clearly a large and overreaching plot, the episode is still strong because of its characters. For what I gathered from these people that have been given a gift they don't fully understand at this point is that in many ways they are lost and severely wounded. I get the impression that their newfound abilities will give them purpose as this incredible world and plot unfolds before our eyes and I for one, am hooked. I have to know how this ends and I have to know how it will all come together. Until next time. There’s a 100% change that if this week doesn’t end soon, I may actually lose my mind. But that’s okay, because I have one more night of work left and then it’s a weekend…filled with a long list of stuff I need to get done. Hi guys! Did you like my last blog? Talking about the things that I am totally excited to watch over the summer? Yes? Good, because you’re kind of getting a part two today. Why? Because, listen, the blog I was originally going to do is on my laptop…which is at home…which is not where I am right now. So, you know, it’s the little things in life. That and, well, it’s hard to do a geeky gifts without the countless hours of research that goes into one of those. Which is already done and not being re-done. I mean, I could, but I love you guys a little less than doing that. And, well, time is always a factor. So, things that have been getting me through this week also include watching movies with my favorite actors/actresses in them. Because you can never have enough eye candy in your life. Ever. Unless you’re secretly one of those gorgeous people, who works out, has abs, and stares at themselves in the mirror. Don’t worry, I’d be staring at you too if this computer wasn’t between us. I’d also probably touch said abs…because, listen, abs? That got weird…this is why we’re family! Things get weird and you still keep reading, because deep down inside, you think I might be remotely funny. We all know it’s true. So, tonight, I had the chance to sit and watch Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. I don’t care what anyone says, and I will fight you over this, but this movie is awesome. Mostly because I say it is. My love of Jeremy Renner doesn’t hurt…It’s just a fun movie. And then I was like, oh my God, I love fun things! And my train of thought lead me here. Shortly after realizing I left my laptop at home. Yes, it took me 6 hours to figure that out. Fun movies are happening and I talked about a few in my last blog, but I mean, there’s also games and stuff coming out, right? Like the new Batman game….of which I…totally won’t be able to get…because I lack a PS4…but hey, listen, I can still be excited for it. Summer is all about relaxing, enjoying the sun, or hiding from it, and just chilling out. The bonus side to this game coming out is all the YouTube people who will record themselves playing. It’s like getting a chance to vicariously live through them. Also, I do plan to finish a few games this summer myself. I have this habit of things taking me forever to do. I don’t even have an excuse, except adulting gets in the way (whoa, guys, that’s totally an actual word!), but finishing games will literally take me a year, if not longer. Same with reading books sometimes. Still haven’t finished The Hunger Games for that reason. Enough with indoor stuff! Let’s talk about…more indoor stuff. Because, reasons. And kitchens? I like being able to be relative in the kitchen and one of my goals this summer is to learn to cook better. It’s been a great debate for some time, and while I can bake, my cooking abilities are lacking. They’re getting better; mind you, I haven’t caught the kitchen on fire in a few months, but, you know…life goals. Do you guys remember being kids and making Kool-Aid popsicles? You get the little ice trays and fill it with Kool-Aid and then put a toothpick in it and a few hours later, boom! Something tasty? Well, I really want to try doing that this summer, but with cool nerdy ice cube molds. It just seems like something fun to do, and really, with all the backyard BBQ’s I’m not going to get invited to, and pool parties that people will have without me, this just seems like a fantastic, nerdy, fun treat. Which is also what I want to explore. Making food more nerdy. You can’t have it nerdy enough, guys! You can’t! Lastly for the day, I’m really looking forward to my trip to Disneyland. Now, it’s their Diamond celebration (which I just learned while looking at tickets) and that means it’s a special, wonderful, time of year. I haven’t had a Disney fix in quite some time, and I really am just looking forward to getting my Disney nerd on. Imma hunt down every Disney character I can and get a picture with them…because reasons. And buying stuff. Listen, I feel like Disney is a convention, in a way, I can’t wait to hit the shops and get pictures with people. The only downside, is that I can’t dress up. Which is very fair, I’d have way too much fun doing that. Just think of all the nerdy things I’m going to buy…all the things! And with Star Wars and Marvel now owned by Disney, the amount of really cool stuff at the park has, literally, exploded….I can’t even comprehend how awesome this trip will be. Either way, these are some of the things I'm looking forward to getting done this summer, and I'd love to what you guys have planned too! If you want to share, tweets us, email us, comment here and let's all share in the nerdiness! Enjoy your summer everyone! Written by ScottyWith Jurassic World coming out in a few short hours, it is fun to look back at the series that ended fourteen years ago and see what we learned. I love doing this because a lot of the time, you get to see what worked and what did not work in the story lines, along with how your favorite characters survived the dinosaur onslaught. So, without further ado, let’s just dive on in to the series. Would a paleontologist be the right choice? This is a question I continue to ask myself since the first movie came out. Dr. Alan Grant is a great character, but when he sees a living dinosaur for the first time, I am sure that he needed to do more than just sit down. So when it comes to his craft, he might be able to give you some keen insights on what is believed about the dinosaurs, but overall, a paleontologist is not someone that is accustomed to running for their life all of the time, and even though the flight instinct takes over, most people would be frozen in fear and not make for a good traveling companion when it comes to trying to escape ancient predators. Does being a big game hunter help you in the park? Well, according to these movies, the answer is no and that is something that I do not agree with. Since these hunters, and even the hired mercenaries are taken out so quickly by an attack that they saw coming. I am unsure where the hatred for these characters is coming from, since these are the people that have made a living with their firearms and have survived some of the toughest situations put in front of them. I would rather follow a hunter than paleontologist in a survival situation, but hey that is just me and according to these movies if I do follow them, I will be in a huge pile of dino droppings. Does basic knowledge help you survive? Well yes, yes it does. There are several things that people can do to survive any type of situations and I am sure this would apply to being stuck on an island of dinosaurs as well. Keeping quiet would be a great one to start with. Even if you are trying to track someone down, it might be better to keep yourself a bit hidden since it appears that dinosaurs have ears too and love to hunt. Don’t approach or try to get near nesting areas. This is a pretty common thing that I think a lot of people forget about after elementary school. If you have ever approached a bird’s nest and the momma bird is there, what does it do? It attacks you and tries to defend its baby. This applies to so many other animals as well and it seems to transfer over to these movies in a big way. Not being afraid to smell like your surroundings. Who cares if you are dirty, every hunter out there knows that humans carry a different scent with them and if you are trying to track or hide from something, it is easier to be passed over if you are willing to get down and dirty. Although the movies don’t really focus on this point, it is a good thing to know, just in case you are left alone in the mountains and a bear is looking to take a bite out of your camp. Can technology really help you if you are being chased by dinosaurs? This one makes me laugh in the movies, since the answer is no. It really does not matter to the dinosaurs what you have in your hands or what you are trying to run away in since they have never seen it before. The overwhelming size of the ancient creatures should be an indicator about how afraid they could be of a standard human, and that is not at all. Even firearms have little effect on the creatures, even though you never get to see one get shot. I know a shotgun would be a bad idea since dinosaurs appear to be very thick skinned, but something with some massive stopping power might give you a chance, along with tranquilizers, that seemed to work out find for everyone that used one. Jeeps, planes, gates, boats, even electricity seem to have little to no effect on trying to keep dinosaurs at bay, it might be a better practice to just stay on foot since you can control that outcome and never run out of gas. Which is better, pack mentality or the lone wolf? What the movie showed us is that traveling in a pack is much safer than heading off one at a time. The little Compys are the primary reason for that as they are scavengers, but if they have large enough numbers, they will be able to take down a human without any problem. Traveling in a group seems to keep other predators at bay as well. If you are in the mountains and a bear is looking to attack, having more people there to yell at it will make it run away most of the time. Most predators try to single out the smaller, weaker of the herd, so make sure to keep the little ones in the middle and they should not be hurt, much less seen by the hunters. If you are trying to lone wolf it, it would be wiser to keep to the higher ground so you can see your surroundings. There are many hunters that are looking for the easy kill, but if it becomes too much effort for them to get it, they will back away and look for someone else. Well, there are some of the things I have taken away from the Jurassic Park movies and hopefully it helps to prepare you for the next movie, or at least surviving a dinosaur attack. You never know when you might need to be prepared for an event like this and with all of the cloning successes happening these days, this might become a reality. I hope that they keep it on an island somewhere and away from the mountains since that is where I am gonna go when disaster strikes. It is all about fun and I hope Jurassic World does not disappoint and that they follow some of the magical things that made Jurassic Park near and dear to our hearts. And if it doesn’t, then I hope Chris Pratt gets to have another dance off. Written by ShaeAlright, wow has it been busy. Between DCC coming and going and work, and other problems, I’m not even sure what day it is! Well, with some recent life things happening, I figured now was a perfect time to take my mind off of that by getting back to what I promised you guys some blogs ago. Do you remember that? I hope you do. So, a bit ago, Mattie and I were in Hot Topic and discovered some pretty amazing things. Her Universe and Hot Topic collaborated and put out a line of Marvel Avengers wear for us girls. While they didn’t have all the items in stock at the time, they had two key items that we eventually bought. What caught Mattie’s eye at first was in the pamphlet they had near the area they were selling these items. It was a Captain America dress and Mattie had to have it…until she spotted the Black Widow jacket. Once she found the jacket and tried it on, the deal was done. They did have the Loki dress at the time, however, their stock was limited. Apart from one dress and two jackets, it was hard to decide on what to do. But, you know, we are girls, and Hot Topic is a fun place to shop…eventually Mattie talked me into getting the Tony Stark jacket and no regrets. In fact, I wore this thing almost the entire time I was at DCC. I later decided to search tirelessly for this line. Marvel apparel isn’t uncommon. It’s just not very well advertised. Let’s face it, we can all go find Marvel shirts, especially around the time of new movie releases and what not. But finding a fashion line purposefully done like this? Now, that’s unheard of. So, I turned to the web. At first venture, I hit Hot Topic. Now, this line is limited and not available in all stores. Mattie and I were lucky to find it when we did, because they also sell out super-fast. According to one of the managers at our local Hot Topic, it’s a desired item in high demand. It’s almost always sold out online, which might explain why I had trouble finding it on their site. A quick venture over to Her Universe proved just as tricky. So where can you find these wonderful dresses and jackets? If you’re lucky a Hot Topic near you has them, or is getting them in soon. Otherwise, you can find the items on their site, whether they’re still pre-ordering or not is a gamble. I know this collection was supposed to be released mid-May to select stores, but I’m not sure if there’s been a delay. I tried finding this collection on Her Universe’s website and came up empty handed, but I did find a lot of other great items. Let’s face it, when it comes to jackets and nerdy shirts…I need all of the things. I can personally attest to how brilliant this clothing line is, because the Stark Industries jacket is seriously comfortable, adorable, and quite unique. The designs on all their clothing items are pretty, and above all, well made. I’m really pleased to see such high quality put into these items. If you can’t find them! Fret not! I’m on the hunt to find out as much information about them as I can. Not to mention, I want more. Why? Because everyone wants to embody their favorite superhero…what better way to do it than wearing something that looks dashing and shows off our fan side? |
