Written by ShaeSides have been chosen! Lines have been drawn! Captain America: Civil War is sure to make all of us nerds and geeks cry for various reasons. Who will win? Who will live? Who will find Bruce? No, seriously, guys, the Hulk is missing…like…shouldn’t we find him? I mean, him and Natasha seemed pretty good, until he freaked out over commitment issues and left…which is totally not cool! Either way, picture releases of who will be siding with whom has sent the nerd world into a frenzy! Yes kids, this is how reporting is done, I literally have no proof to back that statement up. What I do have is the cold hard truth that this side picking thing has really made me personally unhappy.
I’ll be the first to admit that I have not actually read the comic. Which I know, I should. Eventually I will. However, I was not pleased to find Hawkeye and Black Widow on opposite sides. Come on! They’re best friends! Clint named his son after her for crying out loud! It’s like if Mattie and I were to no longer be friends. Then again, I’m not sure this makes them not friends anymore. Maybe it’s one of those ‘ignore the other on the battle field’ kind of situations. I don’t know! All I know is that it is not right. Like, seriously guys. Not cool. In either case, I have to say the lineup looks pretty intense. I was surprised to not see Thor there. Of course, he’s off doing God of Thunder stuff. And Hulk is sulking… It’s an amazing picture of the soon to be dueling sides, but I couldn’t help but notice Peter Parker was missing. Is our infamous Spiderman not going to be present in this fight? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out…and ask ourselves important questions like, which side are you on? There are pros and cons to both. Thankfully Google exists and I was able to get a bit of research done. Tony’s side thinks all superheroes need to be registered and out in the open with their identities, while Cap disagrees. It’s Superhero 101, a secret identity is a must! Just because some are fine with people knowing who their alter egos are, doesn’t mean others are. Who do Iside with? While I do adore Tony and the people who are with him, I have to side with Captain America. It’s a heroes choice to reveal who they are to the world, or whoever. It shouldn’t be forced. On top of that, heroes live dangerous lives and their identities being revealed doesn’t just affect them, but their families and loved ones. I mean….Hakweye and Winter Solder being on Cap’s side has nothing to do with my choice, but it doesn’t hurt. Sadly, I don’t want any one side to lose or win, because I think heroes shouldn’t be fighting each other. They should all just get nibbles and be happy!

Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I really don't know what possessed me to watch Steven Universe, but I literally watched every single episode in existence within the span of two days. More like one full day and a morning. No regrets though, as the show is probably one of the funniest I've ever seen. If you haven't seen it, we can't be friends. I'm just kidding...the show follows the adventures of aliens living as earths protectors while raising the young halfbreed son of their fallen leader. That makes it sound cool, right? Well, it's not that far off. Steven is a Crystal Gem like the others, only he possesses his mother's gem, as she gave up her physical form in order for Steven to be born. A full synopsis can be found by our amazing Mattie and of course our wonderful Allie. Today, I'm going to talk about fan theories surrounding the show, because new blog series? It sounded fun in my head. Which is basically the reason 100% of my blogs are written. For real though, guys, this is a show that is filled with theories. One popular one is that Lion is really Rose. I'm not sure how believable that really is when we think about it, he is pink and does have a dimension of in his mane that contains Rose's possessions....his mane is even in the shape of a star, similar to that of Rose. Does this mean he is her? Not really. Hear me out here, I think Lion is connected to Rose, somehow, but I don't think he is her. So far we have learned that Rose had many secrets, even from her closest friends. In the episode where Steven helps his dad clean out the storage area we see that there is a pet carrier. Steven actually throws this and proclaims his dad never even had a cat. Or did he? Is it possible part of Rose became Steven and the other became Lion? After all, Lion has some pretty kick butt abilities... One theory I thoroughly enjoy is about Jasper. We already saw at the Kindergarten that Home World was working on fusing broken Gems together. Is it possible Jasper is a successful Gem Fusion? She seems to hate fusion, thinking its a cheap trick to make weaker Gems stronger. But what if Jasper is a successful Gem fusion, and she is completely unaware of it? Gem Fusions seem to be different for each Gem. As far as we can see, Jasper only has one Gem, but that doesn't mean much if they're fused. So far when we see fusions of more than two Gems, they have a name ending in "ite". When Jasper Fuses with Lapis, they take the name Malachite....not to mention the eyes. It's rare for Gems to have eyes with pupils, unless they're a fusion. On top of that Garnet even says being a fusion is like being your own being person, you forget who you were and are something else, but the same.... And lastly, my own theory is a bonus one. I've not seen this theory anywhere but I was talking to a friend of mine and have decided that Connie has to have some kind of magical property. Steven is able to fuse with her, but Gems can't fuse with humans. But Connie and Steven are able to fuse....Mattie argues that Steven is a bridge, half human and half Gem, so he can pull Connie into it easy. However, I think there's something more here. Connie is interested in the magical world Steven lives in, enough to learn to even be trained by Pearl to fight. I think if Connie wasn't magical, she'd not be able to fuse with Steven or even stand up to Pearl's training. Is it possible she's got some magic in her? Obviously she does since Steven cured her vision with magical spit. Possibly that's why they can fuse.... Well, that's my thoughts on this series and the theories I really liked and thought had valid standings! Stay tuned for more where I ruin things you like, just like my dad ruined shows for me... Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...It's been a wild and crazy ninth season for the iconic show Face Off, one filled with celebration for the 100th episode, and one that managed to add a new wrinkle into the show's fold with the brand new focus challenge and I've enjoyed every minute of it. But last night the show finally settled back into the basic formula if you will, bringing forth a familiar sense of comfort as the foundation challenge returned to grant one contestant immunity before one incredible spotlight challenge in an episode filled with some amazing work as always in "The Gatekeepers". This go round the Foundation Challenge is one that dug deep into the human psyche as our intrepid artists were given a Rorschach inkblot test and asked to create a makeup based solely on what they saw within the inkblot test. This led to some pretty nifty creations as we watched imagination come to life and of course there is great incentive to win this challenge since as I mentioned earlier the top look is granted immunity and does not have to face the risk of going home. This week's winner of the foundation challenge was Meg with her sharp makeup and awesome coral addition to a sea themed piece, and we'll be talking more about Meg in just a moment. Because after this it was time for the spotlight challenge wherein the artists were paired up to bring to life a makeup based around a gate. The idea was simple, they needed to create two makeups, one that gave life to the gatekeeper and the creature that the gatekeeper kept the world safe from. It led to some amazing and inspired work from Nora and some crazy detailed work from Jordan who accomplished wonders in little time and totally deserved the win. But there was disaster for a few as well. Libby and Meg's creations made it into the bottom looks as did Ricky and Jason. Libby as it turns out was sent home, and I think the judges got that wrong. She may have made some mistakes anatomy wise, but holy crap, Jason's makeup was just awful. He took too long with the sculpture again, it turned out rough and looked low budget and yet...he got to stay. That's nuts. That kind of low grade work should have had him sent packing. Plus, we need to take a quick moment and talk about Meg because...she's floundering. This talented gal can clearly impress, she did week one, she won the foundation challenge but she has been in bottom looks for the last four weeks so what the heck is going on here? Is she buckling from the pressure? I don't know, but immunity helped because it was obvious the judges were not that impressed with her makeup last night either. Either way, she's a story to watch as the season unfolds, and quite frankly so is Jason because the two of them are on thin ice right now, we'll see if they either sink or swim. Until next time. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Are there times that you believe that you cannot trust your own parent? I could not imagine not being able to trust anyone in my family, especially a parent since they have spent their lives teaching me what I know today. There should be a "no" as an to that question since all parents should want their children to grow up and be successful in whatever their endeavors are going to be, but there are those who allow their children to continue to fail on a regular basis. I would like to say that it is a learning experience for the kids, but if no one steps up to show them how to do it right, they will never know how to correct their mistakes. Adam is slowly coming to in the prison as his father is standing above him. Knowing that the virus kills everyone over the age of twenty two, Adam is fearing for his father’s life. His father feels the same way and wants to get his son out of the town before the military shows up with their vaccine. Explaining to Adam that the vaccine is really a concoction that will kill anyone that is injected with it, he gives Adam a plan of escape from Pretty Lake. Before Adam can try to get his father to come along, he passes, just like every other adult in the town has done before. Chuck is gathering his friends and preparing for war against Ronnie and Pat. Knowing that they were somehow responsible for his sister’s death, Chuck wants blood and he wants it now. But Pat is not willing to let anyone else get hurt over the growing feud between the families and makes the first step and tries to apologize to Chuck before any shots are fired. Arriving to an empty house, Chuck knows that the fight is still on, but when Samantha explains what Pat is proposing, it gets the rich boy to calm down just a bit. Meeting in the church, Pat is willing to sacrifice himself to end the battle and making both sides promise to have no retaliation, he gets down on his knees and prepares to be judged. Gord is a little in shock when he finds out that Hanna is married. Since the two have formed a connection, having her return to where she belongs may not be right, but he will not fight to keep her. Feeling down about his current loss, Gord thinks back to his father hanging himself before the virus could get to him. Needing to break him out of his rut, Frances starts bossing him around and gets him to make his normal delivery of milk to the church, for the kids. Watching out the window and seeing the two feuding sides lining up in the street with guns pulled, Gord rushes out to see what is happening. Walking in as Chuck is ready to render justice on Pat, everyone’s phone rings and a message comes through saying that a cure has been found and everyone should report to the prison to be inoculated. But before the group is able to leave, Adam rushes in with a message of his own. With what his father has told him about the virus, Adam knows that there is no cure and there is only a small window of time the soldiers have to administer the killer vaccine before they will drop dead as well. Since all of the kids in Pretty Lake are being rounded up and transported to the prison, they group knows that they cannot save everyone from certain death, but they could keep several kids from getting the shots. Taking out two of the solders, the group proceeds to the prison and with the help of former inmate Mark, they are able to make a b-line to the control center. Hitting resistance along the way, enemies have to become friends since nothing matters now except saving the lives of the innocent. Adam is able to reach the control booth to put the plan in motion, when he gets visited from his father once again who wants to reason with his son for the safety of the nation. This was a very interesting way to end the first season and it is left wide open for another one, but I don’t know what they would want to do with it. With no cure for the virus, everyone in Pretty Lake is a carrier and will die shortly after they turn twenty two. With population control being called out in this episode for the reason behind such a horrific virus, it is easy to understand why it was created, but killing people in the prime of their lives does not seem like it would be the greatest idea. But the virus is alive and sits within the cells of all of the survivors of Pretty Lake and they have no way of ridding it from their bodies. Escape is the only option now, but the threat of killing off the country may be too much for the kids to handle since they are all carriers and can infect any and every one. This is an interesting series to say the least. I was intrigued just by not having a tenured adult in the town and this took it much further than I could have imagined. I was surprised how fast they had the youngest kids trying to become adults and causing more harm than they would have if they just stayed kids. The young adults are the only reason the town stayed together, but each one seemed to have a different idea of what would be right and wrong, so you are left to decide who was right. As the episodes moved on, the story got better and finding out who and what they are up against is something that I thought was going to be left out since there was only one person looking for answers. It’s not the greatest show ever made, but it is definitely not the worst by any means. You need to give it a couple episodes to get captured by it, but once you do, you will not be able to look away. It’s that time of year where Back to School is happening, which is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Whether it’s college or high school, or even elementary, going back can be fun, and sad, all at the same time. I know this week is filled with many students packing up and heading off to college for the first time, and with my own little sister getting ready to do the same, I thought it would be fitting to have a Geeky Gifts dedicated to back to school. This first pick I can personally vouch for. ThinkGeek is often my favorite place to shop and buy things from, and this is no exception. Years ago I got this Bag of Holding messenger bag for Christmas, and it was perhaps the best school item I ever used. Yes, it does hold a lot of things and is probably one of the funnest bags you’ll ever need. I’ve always adored messenger bags over conventional backpacks, and for college or high school, this bag is a great addition. Coincidently, this bag is also a great thing to have at conventions, if you’re into that, sleep overs, and for any trip. They also have a leather version of the bag, if you want to kick up that style just a bit. Of course, ThinkGeek has a ton of messenger bags that would make any geek happy to have, and let’s be honest, they’re all a great way to also meet new friends. If messenger bags aren’t your style, you can also find a plethora of backpacks on the site. Hot Topic is another fun place to find those nerdy backpacks, that are both functional as well as statement pieces. With the coolest shapes ever, if I might say so myself, you can have a backpack shaped like the TARDIS, or Captain America’s shield. Sadly, I’ve yet to find the infamous Cheeseburger Backpack from Steven Universe yet, but I promise you I will, because who doesn’t need that in their life right now? You can find other food like backpacks at Target, however. My personal favorite find was a lunchbox that looked like a box of French fries. If that doesn’t get people to hang out with you, I really don’t know what will. For those of you off to live in the dorms, you’re going to need a hamper. And for those of you living wherever and wanting a new hamper, then you should check this out on ThinkGeek. Yes, that does look like a giant Chinese takeout box. Listen, it’s about making people think you’re cool. Nah, I’m just kidding. It’s about what you like. Personally, I find this to be adorable and functional, which are two of my main qualifications for pretty much all things in life. While it’s probably bad at storing your left overs, it is good for holding your dirty (or clean) clothes. Why get a regular springy hamper when you can have a cool one like this? Speaking of things that hold your clothes, let’s talk about clothes! We all know my strange obsession with geek wear. And if we don’t, then guys, I have a strange obsession with geek wear. Why? Why not? I’ll be the first ti admit that 90% of my closet consists of nerd shirts and shoes. The rest is supposedly nicer clothing to wear to nicer events…like dinners…and holidays…but at any given point in time, I promise you I’m wearing some geek shirt of some kind. ThinkGeek, HotTopic and Target are all amazing places for this. HotTopic is my go to for jackets, while ThinkGeek is the best place to find that perfect nerdy shirt. We gotta impress our classmates after all. I’m also not going to lie when I say Kohl’s and Target are fantastic for finding oversized nerdy shirts to use for PJ’s. Granted, you can buy them to fit, but it’s more fun when they’re a bit too big. And lastly, what would back to school be if you didn’t have accessories. Whether you’re decorating a dorm or your bedroom or apartment, you need stuff. This stackable Tetris lamp is the best addition to any home. Plus, it’ll entertain you and your friends for hours. I don’t actually know that, I’m just assuming…mostly because I want to play with it for hours myself. It’s Tetris!? Who doesn’t love that game? And it provides light. It’s even kid friendly for those little ones that need a bit of light to help them sleep. Also on ThinkGeek you can find a ton of other items to add to your home. Like a Star Trek wall communicator, book ends, and of course, POP! figures. Have we been over my POP figure obsession enough? No, we probably haven’t. It’s spreading as fast as their collections can come out! Newest to the family is Harry Potter and Monty Python. I may have to go as far to say that these little guys make great additions to work spaces! And they’re just adorable. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...One of the best parts of Syfy's Face Off that I don't think gets mentioned enough is the fact that in many ways, this show actually takes the time to prepare their contestants for a career in the special effects makeup business. They do that with the consistent team challenges since a lot of effects companies work in teams to get the job done. It makes this show special period, but, if it wasn't for the contestants special talent and keen eye of special effects on their own, they wouldn't be here. Heck, even Tom Savini, one of the greatest effects artists of all time designed his finest makeups on his own, and the individual was the focus of last night's episode "Frightful Fiction". This episode kicked off with some big time business. Coming off of the celebration of the 100th Episode, there was still an elimination for last week's episode and the judges quickly said goodbye to Missy for her erratic paint job. It was another tear filled goodbye (honestly, is there another reality show that tugs at the feels during elimination like this one?) before this week's task was laid out for the remaining contestants, one that was extra special. It turns out there would be no Foundation Challenge this week, or Spotlight Challenge, it was time instead for the brand new Focus Challenge. This was a challenge that entailed detailed work on the face and only the face, designed to get a good idea of sculpting and painting ability and to go with this new wrinkle to the show, the contestants were expected to create their makeups with a mashup of classic literature characters...thrown into the horror genre. Needless to say, we had some impressive results last night. Stevie put together an amazing lizard makeup, and Kevon unveiled perhaps the creepiest Merlin that you have ever seen. But the winner of last night was Scott whose Frankenstein/Man of La Mancha creation was absolutely amazing. As the judges, joined by guest judge Lois Burwell, said; it was a subtle but effective makeup and that's as spot on as it gets. It was filled to the brim with details and definitely wowed when it finally premiered on stage, so well done to Scott. However, there was to be another elimination tonight and the bottom looks were spot on. Jason's work while impressive in its paint and design just didn't fit the challenge. Meg completely lost track of time and her concept and it's disheartening to see her in the bottom looks once again considering some of the amazing stuff she put together two weeks ago. But the person that went home last night was Brittany, whose hybrid burn/old age makeup simply didn't make the grade. Either way, this was a fun episode, I really enjoyed this new challenge, and it was a reminder that I wish this show was two hours long because one hour is simply not enough. Until next time. Written by ScottyWith everything that has happened to date in Pretty Lake, it is a wonder that there still is hope for the surviving residents. As Chuck has asserted himself the town sheriff and half of his hockey team are his deputies, they are running the town as they see fit. But it is noticeable that things are not getting any better, in fact they are getting worse and there needs to be a change of heart when it comes to surviving inside of the quarantined town. Wiley is being asked to do something that she would normally refuse, but since she has been allowed to stay in Ronnie and Pat’s house for a couple nights, they need her help. Their cousin has a massive cut on her leg and is starting to feel the effects, she needs antibiotics and Wiley is the only one not attached to the family that can go into town. Knowing that it is the right thing to do, she heads on her mission, but when confronted by Chuck, she comes clean about why she is there. Chuck will not allow her to pick up anything until Ronnie returns all of the drugs he stole when the town was initially blocked off from the world. Ronnie is battling his own inner demons after his sister helped to open his eyes. Calling him a monster, Ronnie comes to terms of what he has become and needs help in changing back into the person he once was. Pouring out his drugs and going through a massive withdrawal, the voices in his head are getting louder and he is not able to combat them with anything other than the pills he no longer is in possession of. Nobody can help the delinquent, he has to help himself first, but when Wiley’s baby does not stop crying, he puts the fear of god into his sister, hining that he will kill the baby to make it be quiet. Pat will stop at nothing to save his cousin's life and will head into town with Wiley to pick up the drugs she needs to survive. Although Wiley had the opportunity to leave the house, she came back because it was the right thing to do. Taking some responsibility for her actions now, she is the only one in the household that is not on Chuck’s hit list at this time. Fearing for someone other than herself is something new and wants to confront her sister about something, but is on the road before she is able to conduct her thoughts. Heading back to the house after finding the drugs that they needed, Pat takes his attention off of the road for a spit second and hits Chuck’s little sister Amanda. Knowing that no one in the town will listen to what really happened, Pat flees back to his house and needs to prepare for war. Gord is having problems on the farm with the cows starting to get sick. With help from his old friend Hanna, he is going to try a new remedy on the cows that he has never tried before. Being the only one in town that has any medical training, Chuck’s boys find him when Vince gets sick and nobody knows what it is. Finding out that the young man’s appendix exploded and it is only a matter of time before he dies from it, Chuck and his friends decide to fly their boy to a hospital, but the plane barley gets off the ground before it is shot down by an unseen gunner. Gord is fed up with how Chuck has been running the town into the ground and blames the recent deaths on the rich boy. Trying to stand his ground, Gord is quickly knocked down and decides that he will no longer be a part of the town since the leadership has taken a turn for the worse. Chuck knows that the town is falling apart, but is trying everything that makes sense to him to put it back together. Even after being victorious over the fight with Gord, Chuck’s eyes have been opened to what is really happening and it is starting to take its toll on him as well. With his new friend Samantha testing him, he has found someone that he is comfortable in opening up to. When he is sulking in his own despair, he allows Amanda out of his sight for a few hours and when he gets word from his friends that she has been killed, he knows that Gord was right and the deaths in the town are all on his head. This was a pretty emotional episode and I did not even hit the Adam storyline. So just really quick, he finds a clue that leads him to the prison, he is shot at by the lady guard and is about to be privy to information that no one was intended to find out. I don’t know what is going to happen in the finale since there has been a battle looming between Chuck and brothers Ronnie and Pat since the get go, but it has not killed anyone yet. The ex-convict Mark is still running the bar and who knows what is going through his head. Gord and Hanna fall for each other, but Hanna has something that she is hiding from her new friend. The power is back on in the town, but communications are still down and there are surface to air missiles around the Pretty Lake that will take anything that gets fifty feet off of the ground out in a blaze of glory. One more to go, I don’t know how I am gonna take it when it ends. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...There is no authority left alive in Pretty Lake, or at least a couple of kids think so. Stealing a car from the Lotts’ dealership, they are ready to take the ride of their lives. Ultimately crashing the car, the boys are brought before Chuck for their punishment and given two options, apologize or be strapped to a flag pole. Young Harrison will not bend, knowing that Chuck is not the law and will not play by the rich kids rules and is tied to the flag pole for all of the town to see. But even with his pride intact, Harrison may be in more danger than even he could expect. Melissa is nearing the end of her rope with dealing with the kids all the time. Not being given any help, the high school teacher Ms. Symonds steps in to give the overworked young woman a break. Needing to find her sister, Melissa asks Gord to help in the search and he happily agrees to help. Fearing for Wiley’s baby, Melissa needs to find her before something bad happens to one or both of them. But what Melissa does not know is that Wiley has found a place to stay outside of town that no one would ever expect her to be. Wiley is held up at Pat and Ronnie’s house for the time being. After getting some rest, she decides to go hunting with Ronnie to kill some time, but Ronnie has something different in mind. After sitting and talking for some time, Ronnie starts to get a little touchy, but Wiley is not having any of it. Not being able to explain her feelings for Adam, she pushes Ronnie away, but he will not stop. With rape on his mind, Ronnie forces himself on the new mother and will not stop until he gets everything that he wants. Being hit by a shovel wielded by his sister, Ronnie is out for the count and Wiley gets her first real taste of how the delinquent really is. Making her grow up a little bit faster, she gets back to the house and holds her baby and decides on a name for her child. Adam is still trying to find out what happened to Chuck’s little sister Lana. Walking back to the place where they found her body, Adam stumbles upon a hat that belongs to Pat. Needing further proof, Adam goes to the house and compares the boot prints that were at the scene of the crime with the boots on the front porch. Being a match, Adam knows who the killer is and wants to share his findings, but being talked out of it for the moment by Ms. Symonds, Adam turns his attention to celebrating his teacher’s birthday with her. But the fun only lasts so long when Pat finds the two and gives his side of the story and passes on the suicide note that Lana left. Being shot at by Chuck and his boys, Pat is able to escape the town, but knows that there is going to be something much worse on the horizon. Finding a full beer truck, Mark has made his way out of jail and into Pretty Lake. Looking for a money making opportunity, he is able to reach an agreement with Stacey to open the bar up again and exploit the goods that they have. Selling to anyone that comes into the bar seems like a good idea, but Chuck is quick to put an end to it when he sees what is happening. Kicking out all of the younger kids, the bar continues to serve anyone eighteen and up. Mark is happy with how it is going, but gets a friendly visit from the guard that let him loose and is employed to be her eyes and ears in the town. The town of Pretty Lake is falling apart and nobody seems to see it happening. Although Chuck is trying to be the law and help protect people from harm, he seems to be making it worse. With it being his way or the highway, a small blowup between him and Gord is going to be called for since they are the two trying to keep the town from falling into shambles. You get a little bit of life out of Wiley in this episode, finally, and it is a shame she had to go through almost getting raped to change her outlook on life. Tensions are running high, but on the positive note, the town got its power back and only one person lost their life in the episode, and it was to the virus…and possibly the power coming back on. There is something seedy happening with the prison guard right now as well, but will just have to wait and see what or who she is really working for. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Some of the younger kids in Pretty Lake are trying to pick up the responsibilities left to them by their deceased parents. Even though it is hard work, they know it must be done and the young adults are starting to get run down. Melissa is still managing the kids in the church, but there are so many and with taking care of Wiley’s son full time as well, she is running out of patience, along with energy to keep ahead of what the young ones will do next. All the while, there is a tiger on the loose in the town that has found its way to Gord’s farm. Leaving his little sister alone to take care of the cows, she spots the tiger roaming around the land and hopes that it is gone by the time she has to get up and feed the livestock. Not seeing the tiger when she left the house, young Francis is very aware that it may still be lurking around and when she comes face to face with the beast, she has to find a way to keep it from harming hear, along with her babies. Ronnie is in Chuck’s crosshairs as Chuck has found out that the trouble maker in town was the last person that saw his sister Lana alive. With his friends armed and ready to go, they all surround Ronnie’s house and accuse him of killing the girl, but Ronnie is not allowed outside by his brother Pat who is trying to talk the angry mob down. Gord shows up at the house as well, trying to play peacekeeper, but when the power goes out unexpectedly, both sides open fire and Gord gets hit. Knowing that he is not hurt that badly, Gord goes to patch himself up and tries to keep Chuck from forming a vigilante justice crew. Ronnie has to try to prove his innocence, but being a trouble maker, nobody, not even his family will listen to him. His cell phone proves that he was otherwise engaged when Chuck’s little sister was killed, but his one alibi does not want to fess up. Chuck’s girlfriend Stacey is not willing to admit that she has been fooling around on her boyfriend and has a plan to keep Ronnie from exposing the truth. Trying to feed the delinquent to the hungry wolves, Stacey makes up a story about Ronnie attacking her, but Ronnie knows better than to trust anyone and is able to catch the ear of Chuck before both of the young men kill each other. Around town however, there is something stranger in the air. After burning the bodies of their deceased, the fences have yet to come down. The woman in charge, Minister Miller comes on the TV once again, explaining that there is some sort of virus still hanging in the air above the town and nobody will be able to leave until it dissipates. But something even worse than that happens when the power grid goes down in Pretty Lake and it is not only effecting the normal electricity, but has taken out the use of any communications as well. Nobody knows when the power will be restored, or if it will be, but some people see this as their queue to get out of the town before they are left there to die. Wiley is starting to warm up a bit to Adam, but still wants to keep him at arm’s length. With the power out, the electrified fence around the town will be rendered useless, so the two can get out while nobody is looking. Getting past the main fence does not pose an issue, but when they see a mine field waiting beyond, they are left to question if it is a scare tactic, or a real hazard. Throwing Wiley’s backpack into the field, they find out that the threat is real, but Adam wants to know what is really happening with Wiley and why she had so much money, now blown up, stashed in her pack. Wiley does not want to open up about anything to him and says that she has made a mistake even coming to him with her problems, forcing Adam to walk away from the only girl in the town that he ever truly loved. Well, I guess I was wrong. I honestly thought that someone was going to die in a shootout, but Gord has been really good at playing peacekeeper in the town thus far, even though he has taken a bullet. Chuck does not want to give up his power in the town and now with guns, he may not have too. Wanting revenge for his sister’s death, he is ready to pull the trigger towards anyone that is looks at him wrong. I am staring to feel bad for Melissa as she is the only one in the town that is trying to take care of the smaller kids. She is beyond tired and is getting no help from anyone now which will be bad when she gets exhausted and passes out in the church, since one of the kids likes to play with fire. I am lost on what to think will happen in the next episode since I thought I had a pretty good feel on the town of Pretty Lake. But I don’t, I mean they have a TIGER! Not in a zoo, but in a residence, that is just nuts and I am sure anyone that watches this that is on an HOA will be yelling at the screen. People are still dying in Pretty Lake, even after the virus or whatever it is has killed off anyone over the age of 22 and I am sure there will be more death at some blood thirsty people’s hands, but will have to wait to verify that as the episodes move on. I cannot wait for the next one! Written by John Edward BetancourtThere are some shows so wonderful and so entertaining that time simply disappears when you're watching them. Every episode is celebrated, and every hiatus is painful as you wait for said show to return. One show that happens to fit that mold is Syfy's Face Off simply because you always want more of it and last night's episode made me reflect upon that point for one important reason. Last night, as it turns out, just happened to be Face Off's 100th episode and man, that kind of momentous event for a series this special really made me stop and think about how many amazing episodes we have been privy to. We've seen incredible creation after incredible creation on this show as imaginations runs wild and for the grand 100th, "Surprise of the Century", this episode made sure to celebrate the wonder of special effects and our love affair with it in incredible fashion. For this go round, everyone was allowed to pick their own teams and their task this week was to take part in a special celebration. McKenzie as it turns out is an ordained minister and she would be conducting a group wedding of couples that would happen to be wearing custom makeup on their special day. The requirement this week was that the couples be in a undead makeup, with a lovely whimsical theme, giving it that taste of Tim Burton if you will. Needless to say, many of the teams accomplished that. But only one person can come out on top and our winner this week was Jasmine and her work with Ben was absolutely spectacular. I guess the best way to describe this winning makeup was Tim Burton meets arts and crafts meets Legend and it was nuts to see wigs made of yarn and I fully agree with the judges this week on our winning team and individual winner. In stark contrast however, I was kind of shocked to see Meg in the bottom looks this week. She clearly has an eye for the craft and I'm not sure what went wrong with her makeup. In fact Meg and Nora's work left me worried about their safety this week since it seemed that despite the fact we were celebrating episode 100 and the love and wonder of marriage, that someone was going home and thankfully that didn't happen. Everyone got a free pass this go round in what was listed at the end of the episode as "to be continued" and thank heaven for that. It would have been a melancholy ending to such a wonderful show, so next week it's back to business and my congratulations to Face Off for one hundred magical episodes...dare I say here's to one hundred more? Until next time. |
