Written by ShaeShadow is my oldest cat, he's turning 9 next year and he couldn't be a more typical cat. He's very stand offish, but also very shy. I always think that he has good taste in people as he only comes out for certain people. He loves getting pets and treats, he's a little chubby but that's okay. Shadow came to me when I went to college in Florida. It wasn't the best of times in my life, so I thought running away was the answer. I couldn't have been more wrong. One of my roommates had heard me griping over missing my family pets. He came home from work one day and brought something with him. He held in his arm a wrapped up ball of fur. Shadow is solid white with bright blue eyes. It was love at first sight. Shadow was also a terror. Talk about the world's most hyper kitten! He meowed and loved to play all hours of day and night. Cats with white fur and blue eyes are typically deaf, but not Shadow. He has selective hearing because he doesn't like being in trouble. When my roommate told me he'd rescued Shadow from a coworker. They were planning to have the kitten put down since they didn't want him anymore. Well, you can't tell me stories like that! I had to have him, and that's what I did. With some research I found that Shadow had to be mixed! A lot of people assume cats don't have breeds like dogs, but they do! Shadow exhibits a lot of characteristics of a Ragdoll, especially with his blue eyes and white fur and perfect hearing. Today, Shadow begrudgingly gets along with Avenger and Carter, the three have a nice little harmony, unlike any cats I've owned before, and all of them love and groom each other. Shadow will play from time to time, but mostly he sleeps, eats, and stares at himself in the water bowl. While he was a rescue in as different way, he was a rescue nonetheless. Shadow was the first animal I'd gotten from someone I knew directly, and brought to me personally. I knew I could make his life better. Despite being very sheddy, and while I'm allergic to him the most, that doesn't stop the love and cuddles. I can't explain the love that I can see in Shadow's eyes. He knows he was rescued and given a good home, and while he herds me to the food bowl all the time, he's full of so much love. At nearly 9, Shadow doesn't act old at all. He may not be a kitten anymore, but he is young at heart. Older doesn't mean they're not good anymore. It always breaks my heart to see animals that are older in shelters and for this Pet Spotlight, here are a couple of older animals that need a new home filled with love. Little Bit (pictured at the top of the article) is an 11 year old Tortie and white domestic shorthair. She's been with the shelter since 9/4/15. She's a quiet kitty who loves toys and nap time. While she loves to play, she isn't friendly with other animals and is not recommended for kids. She's a laid back cat that would be great for someone looking for a calm companion. Little Bit is currently at the Petco at 4100 East Mexico Ave in Denver. While she is older, Little Bit is far from elderly. She's the perfect cat for anyone looking for anyone looking for a low maintenance friend. Roxy is a 10 year old Parson Jack Russel Terrier Mix and she is a special needs dog that definitely needs a loving home. She enjoys a good walk, a chance to roll around in the grass or play with some squeaky toys. Everyone at the shelter has learned she is affectionate and sweet and she's housebroken, gets along well with other animals and she appears to do just fine with kids as well. For more information on you're newest possible family members, please check out ddfl.org! They're always looking for donations, either monetary or supply based (like blankets, food, toys, towels, and so on), and any little bit helps. And on another note, it's Halloween! Please keep your black cats indoors and safe! Sadly, some people are okay with harming black cats for various reasons around this holiday. A safe pet is a happy pet!

Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Fourteen episodes and no doubt forty pounds of foam latex later...we have come to the end of the line for season nine of Face Off. The field of contestants has been whittled down to three and last night a winner was crowned in spectacular fashion as "Movie Magic - Part II" brought us exactly what that title promised, special effects make up come to life on film. It is the ultimate goal for the contestants, their dream realized and quite frankly it was pretty freaking awesome to see a functioning movie set bring everything the contestants have learned this year together. Yes, with the screen tests now complete the final three were required to handle a quick twist to the finale challenge...a third makeup to appear on screen and a fourth team member to give them help and early on in this episode, it was obvious just how badly each and every one of these contestants wanted the win as they all settled in to finish their work in the lab one last time. Nora led the pack of contestants since her screen test was by far the most successful and quickly designed and created her third makeup. Evan pulled off a fast turnaround on his failed screen tests and Ben was able to merely enhance his work and thankfully got the feedback to make his third makeup human like and subtle and in madcap fashion, it wasn't long before the makeups were complete and the contestants were moved on set to get everything ready for the shoot, and with it being go time, the good news is everyone stepped up to the plate. Ben did have an issue with his silicon appliance, but otherwise all three shoots went off without a hitch. Our final three were ready for anything Patrick threw at them, and naturally during the shoot the judges had the opportunity to observe how the makeups looked on film and handled the rigors of multiple takes and whatever the elements threw at these special works and quite frankly, this was the coolest part of the episode. We've been living the dream with these contestants and to see the joy on their faces as they witnessed their work come to life through the lens of a camera was nothing short of magical. But alas, the time had come to crown a winner for season nine of the show and after screening each short film and taking the time to learn more about the makeups and what went into them...the choice was made and Nora took home the title of champion and quite frankly, it is well deserved. She finally found the confidence she needed to and it paid off in dividends. She was the most prepared of all three contestants in every phase of this final contest and it showed on screen, her work simply looked amazing and my hat goes off to you Nora, you earned it and I certainly hope you bask in the glory of this win and enjoy all the work that comes your way from it. Either way, what an awesome season it was on Face Off, and the good news is, season ten awaits us in January...until then. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...With every new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that arrives on my television screen I continue to find myself impressed more and more with this series. It's either the colorful characters and the events that surround them that blow me away or the show manages to do something new and exciting that tells a story in unconventional fashion. Both of those elements came together on last night's episode "4,722 Hours" as the show at last revealed to us what the heck happened to Jemma during those six months she was missing on the alien planet that the monolith transported her to, and it was done in such an incredible fashion that this may well be one of my absolute favorite episodes of the series. I say that because rather than go back and forth between present day and Jemma's memory the show just decided to take us through the six months with Jemma and strand us on the planet with her and the end result was simply amazing. First and foremost, credit must be given to Elizabeth Henstridge and her acting skills. This was an episode that required her to be alone for quite some time and some actors can pull off that range of emotions of being alone and terrified and some actors cannot but Elizabeth did an outstanding job of making us feel for Agent Simmons as she discovered how far away from home she truly is and the struggle she had with finding food and water. It made for a desolate and sad first half of the show as we witness Jemma's fight to survive and that's when the show threw us a curveball by revealing another human being was on this planet as well. This other poor soul is Will and he just so happens to be an astronaut whose mission with NASA went awry and the team he arrived here with went mad after seeing some kind of being in the sandstorms that ravage this planet. But Jemma writes off that last part of his tale to isolation and uses the technology available to figure out how the monolith works and how to get them home, but her plan fails and left with no hope, she and Will get cozy together and settle in for a life without earth. But that brings us to a few episodes ago when Fitz found her and she was forced to leave Will behind to battle whatever odd creature appears in the sand. So now we know why Jemma is so desperate to go back and quite frankly, the whole settling in to become Will's girlfriend/lover thing actually managed to tick me off. Fitz loves Jemma to a fault, and that fault is the fact she treats him like crap when she knows what she has with him and she was willing to say goodbye to the thought of ever finding Fitz again and settle and that's infuriating. It's also infuriating that Fitz is going to help her. He deserves better. But outside of that, this was one wild episode and one that I absolutely loved since it didn't feature anything but this struggle and what a fresh and interesting way to tell a story on this show. But despite all the fun this episode brought...it's back to business next week as the hunt for Ward and Hydra continues. Until then. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Hype can be a dangerous thing when it comes to television shows or motion pictures, because hype creates expectations. Those expectations lead to hope and a grand desire that everything will be beyond amazing and we've all seen the end results when something doesn't live up to the hype...and it's never pretty. But last night, something rare happened on television, a show lived up to its hype and it completely blew my expectations out of the water because as it turns out...Supergirl is shaping up to be an incredible show. In fact, it wasted no time getting the fanboy/fangirl moments out of the way by giving us a taste of Krypton and baby Kal-El before bringing out the big guns...cameos! We saw Superman, and yes while I understand he was mostly in the shadows...it was him! We also got surprise appearances from Helen Slater who played Supergirl in the 1984 film of the same namesake of the show and freaking Dean Cain who donned the cape for Lois and Clark back in the day. Now, this obviously isn't the only reason the show was great last night, but it was a sign that the powers that be are serious about making sure it's respectful to the source material and that's important. If anything, this was simply a geek out moment that needed to be highlighted because what came next actually managed to exceed these awesome moments. Yes, it is possible to top Superman showing up in one simple way...by giving the superhero genre new life by foregoing the dark and brooding atmosphere and making everything lighthearted and fun. There's no dark moments to be found in Supergirl, just simple characters who jump off the screen and rather than spend a ton of time on an unnecessary origin story the plot gets moving at a breakneck pace, getting Kara into the suit and saving the day as quickly as possible and I fully appreciate the fact that the show was willing to do that. Kara isn't a tortured soul with a past or someone who needs to brood and stew before making a decision to become something special...she WANTS to help people, she wants to do good and that's a vastly different message to see from this genre than we have in years and it's quite refreshing. It doesn't mean I don't like the darker aspect of the genre as it stands now...it's simply not necessary here, especially with the quality messages provided in the premiere. Not only did the show make a point about good people doing good things, another rarity on television these days, it also makes a point to focus on Kara's struggle with being more in life. She's not happy settling, she never has been, she has always wanted to do more, to be more and well...she finally gets the chance to do that and make mistakes along the way before saving the day and that's some powerful storytelling right there because it speaks to so many people out there and gets back to the core of why we love the Superhero genre...they inspire us to be more. Kara's journey flat out tells us to be more, to try and be something special in this life and yes, you're going to screw up along the way so pick yourself back up and try, try again until you get it right. It really made for some magical television to be honest. What's even better...this is just the beginning of her journey and if they managed to pack all of that wonder and awe into the pilot episode, what else do they have in store for us? Either way, I absolutely loved this premiere, and everything about it. Every single person is cast perfectly, Melissa Benoist is absolutely stellar as Kara Zor-El and brings a depth to the role and the character that was sorely lacking in the 1984 film and she is the anchor to this series and the reason that last night's premiere was a success in my eyes. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the fact that the pilot wasted no time in setting up the plot for the entire season which is awesome, now we know what kind of epic adventures Supergirl is in for this year and it only has me more excited to see what is coming our way because wow...this was a groundbreaking piece of television, one that accomplished a ton in a short period of time and one that completely goes against the grain of what's out there right now. Bravo to Supergirl. I'm hooked and I'll be watching come next week...until then. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...As it turns out, a dream catcher can be used for both good and evil. When infused with powerful magic, a dream catcher can take away memories and hide them. The person is none-the wiser to what happened. This might actually explain how everyone who went to Camelot lost their memories. So what happened back there? First, lets travel back in time to find out what really happened to Merlin. The greatest magician of them all was trapped away in a tree, but how, by what? We’ve been dying to know since we learned of his existence, and now we have a glimpse into the past. It was the loss of his first love. Merlin had the dagger of the Dark One, ready to kill said being, when he couldn’t do it. The Dark One took the dagger, used the tear he shed, the tear of a first lost love, and trapped him inside the tree. The Dark One had taken his first love….is it possible the Dark One was his first love? How on earth did she become that? How was the dagger split from Excalibur? So many more questions! Back to the past, but more forward in time, we have David and Snow wanting the dagger, and Regina is still unsure if this is the smartest thing to do. Instead, she goes and fetches the blade for them, but doesn’t hand it over. Emma stops them just before they grab it from Regina. She explains the Dreamcatcher and what she saw of Merlin and of what happened with her parents. The spell to free Merlin requires the same tear. Regina volunteers…she watches as her love is killed in front of her again by her mother. The spell doesn’t work however, because Regina has moved on…the tear isn’t fresh. The hurt isn’t strong enough. What could be stronger? Well, Henry is busy trying to make headway with Violet. He sets up Granny’s diner and makes it romantic. Only, when Violet says she isn’t interested, that she thought they were just friends…he leaves to find Emma and Regina in the midst of a failed spell. His tear is useful, is fresh, and is over the heartbreak of first love. It’s powerful enough to work. The spell comes to life just as Arthur and his Knights arrive to stop them. It’s too late once Emma casts the spell. The light and dark come together to free Merlin. He’s happy to see them, and he’s been waiting a long time for Emma. Merlin is able to free Snow and Charming from the spell Gwen cast upon them, and he’s evil able to free Emma from the Darkness. But, the question is, is she ready to give it up? In our modern present day, the town is a twitter with the loss of the missing squire from prison. Arthur explains it away and they all move on. Henry and Snow decide to throw a dance/ball/carnival in hopes of making their new guests feel more welcome. Violet, sadly, isn’t in the mood for such a thing. Her horse has run off! Henry knows just the person to help him bring the horse back. He goes to Emma and asks for her help, and without hesitation she goes with. With the horse found in a pumpkin patch outside of town, Henry has the chance to ride the stead into the fair and give it back to the fair Violet. All is well? Or is it. Emma also has Merida off training Rumple how to be brave and fight. Our clever lass has determined that The old Dark One needs something to fight for, instead of himself. She taught the chipped tea cup that Belle had broken so long ago, and Rumple is up and fighting in no time. This isn’t the only secret Emma is hiding from the others. Regina, Robin, Hook, and Snow and David, break into her house, find the sword in the stone, and on their way out Hook finds a dreamcatcher. A memory from the past is revealed….Regina and Robin watch it, see that Emma had visited Violet before her date with Henry, had taken her heart, and asked her to break Henry’s. All for the sake of a fresh tear and to break the spell that held Merlin. The ball and finding the horse tonight had been Emma’s way of making it up to Henry, who had witnessed the memory on accident... My theory still stands that Emma is far more clever than we all think, and I don’t believe she’s all evil. In the meantime, we have to wait for the next episode….which is terrible! I want it now! Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Let's be honest, we watch Face Off for one particular reason, it's a wonderful opportunity to live vicariously in the movie makeup business through the amazing contestants they give us year in and year out. We've all wanted a chance to be part of the industry and this show gives us that wonderful taste of the business. I say that because last night, the show decided to satisfy both fans and contestants when it came to our desire to look at the business and its inner workings by taking us into the day to day process for a special effects makeup artist and the end result of "Movie Magic - Part I" was nothing short of spectacular. Yes, the final three contestants were given absolutely wonderful news when they entered the lab this episode, as McKenzie informed all of them that not only would they be getting a team to help them put together their finale makeups, but that they would in essence get a dry run in the business. They would be involved in making a short film, complete with a script, a director, full makeups on two actors and even a screen test to make sure their makeups were done correctly and as it turned out, their director was former judge Patrick Tatopoulos. Patrick was able to mentor all three groups, after past contestants were chosen to their respective teams, and then it was off to work, giving each finalist a chance to lead their teams and the results were interesting to say the least. Nora had full command of her team, getting everything done quickly and efficiently while the boys…had a little trouble. Evan once more doubted his makeup and it quickly looked less cohesive than expected and Ben’s group spent too much time working on the sculptures, so much in fact that they were forced to paint two makeups at last looks. All of this mattered when the screen test rolled around because Nora’s group was basically in and out, their makeup passing the test with flying colors with only minimal notes, and it was clear the amount of efficient work put in would matter in the end since Ben's last minute paint job came back to haunt him when Patrick noticed a bare patch of skin on one of the models and poor Evan...he basically has to go back to the drawing board because Patrick had a lot of notes and a lot of issues with both of his makeups. But, it is pretty slick that they get a little more time to refine their work, but of course just fixing those makeups would be too easy and in classic Face Off fashion another twist was thrown in...there was a change to the script and the addition of a third makeup, and that's where the second half of the season finale will pick up and I can't wait to see how everything plays out next week. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Sometimes, you have to wonder exactly how much pressure and heartbreak a character can take in a story, and that's exactly where I am at mentally with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. because this poor group continues to get pummeled week in and week out and last night was certainly no exception. In fact, "Devils You Know" actually went to some pretty dark places as we essentially continued this theme of Inhuman-hunts and well, regardless of how ugly it turned out to be I still loved every single second of it. This was an episode that not only featured some fine acting, but I really didn't see that ending coming, nor did I expect there to be such a hideous twist for what's really going on with our mystery monster and why this creature is making such a point to find Inhumans and kill them. So let's start with that plot line since it truly was the focus of the majority of the episode as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the A.T.C.U. worked together to try and find their serial Inhuman killer and the results were interesting to say the least. It turns out the the Inhumans that turn up dead get a mystery email that damages their computer, but in that process is also tracing their exact location so Lash can come in and kill every last one of them. It leads the team to the man who put together the virus, it turns out he isn't Lash, but is working with him and his admission of the plan, and that Lash does indeed want his fellow Inhumans dead to both teams ends up getting him killed by the beast where we discover, through Daisy's eyes that he can transform back into human form and easily escape and blend in. But while this is happening, Hunter is continuing his hunt for Ward and is so blinded by revenge that he seems lost to Agent May who believe it or not, returns to S.H.I.E.L.D. to ask Coulson for help in keeping Hunter safe. It doesn't necessarily mean she is back, yet - because we all know she is coming back it's just a matter of when, she just wants to do right by Hunter and unfortunately for him...he ends up face to face with Ward and quickly finds himself in a firefight. But before Coulson and the gang can get there, May has to help him out and that's when Ward unleashes more of his evil fury...letting May know via video phone that they are within striking distance of her beloved husband. Hunter thinks it's a trick and goes after Ward regardless, wounding the bastard in the process before he gets away, but the damage has been done...Andrew has been killed by Hydra. So yeah...that's where the episode ends and it took me a few minutes to pull my jaw from the floor because holy cow, it looks like they actually killed Andrew. I say looks like because you never know if someone is dead when it comes to Marvel, and I may also say that because I don't want to believe Ward actually killed him, but what a way to end an episode and now there are more questions than answers about Lash as well...specifically one comes to mind, who is he...or she when transformed back into human form? I thought it was odd timing that Daisy pointed out Lash could be anyone and then suddenly Price appears. Could it be her after all? Just a passing thought since she and her team hate the Inhumans so much. Either way, we will have to wait to get these questions answered since next week we find out exactly what happened to Gemma on that crazy planet, until then. Written by ShaeA few years ago, a friend posted on Facebook about the kittens she had recently helped rescue. All had been adopted out, but one. It’s funny to me too how dogs seem to have breeds, but cats are classified as long hair, short, or medium. Rarely do you see cat breeds posted or anything, unless you’re at a show, or in a pet store. I had messaged, and then called my friend Kendra right away about the cat. Don’t ask me why, I just knew I had to have him. I had to save this cat, and I knew this tiny little life would have a great home with me. Shadow wasn’t too thrilled about the idea of a little brother, but he’d get over it eventually. Finally, she’d called me back, and the next day I went and got him. Avenger was tiny, and a ball of energy. This cat had no time for being held or snuggled, he was all about the toys and the string, and a blanket. Avenger had come from a home where he was being horribly abused. At 4 months old he was still nursing on anything he could get his hands, or paws and mouth, on. It wasn’t for food, it was for comfort. Today at 4 years old, he will still nurse on a blanket, but it isn’t out of fear or to self soothe. Now it’s because he's happy. The once un holdable kitten enjoys being picked up, loved on, and snuggled. He still plays, and while he’s no longer a terror, he is a very playful cat. Shadow did eventually come around and the two play all the time. I was shocked when Avenger kept growing. He grew and grew, and eventually, well, he just didn’t really stop. He has for now, though he’s got one more year before he’s considered an adult cat. Avenger is a Maine Coon mix, which means he has some long and lovely hair, just like today’s first Pet! Tiger is a nine year old cat, and currently in a foster home so you will have to make arrangements with that home to meet her. She is spayed, loves people and loves to be pet. However, she doesn't do well with children, they make her nervous, but loves adults and bonds with them easily and if you're looking for just one pet for your home that's perfect for Tiger since she is used to being the only pet in the house. Jade is a 7 year old black and white female! She’s extremely social, loves toys, treat, pets, and attention! Jade is also declawed, good with new people, and looking for her forever home where she can be a part of your daily life! She’s a very active cat, and likes to explore new places, make friends, and nap! Who doesn’t love naps? For more information on these guys, and others, please visit ddfl.org and meet your newest family member today! Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...In a new mix of things, last night we traveled between the past and distant past, before actually hitting a bit of the present at the end. What is going on you guys!? I can’t even believe what happened and I was not ready to see it. But, things do happen, and really, I should be more surprised than I really am. A few unanswered questions were finally given answers and I am not sure I like them. All right, Arthur wasn’t always evil. He was an adorable kid and he and Gwen were sweethearts that grew into a wonderful married couple together. Cool, I approve. But, hold on a second here, what is this? Arthur had the prophecy from Merlin for a rather long time. But Merlin is still trapped within the tree. Grown up Arthur finds the sword, pulls it from the stone, is now the king, and now he’s going insane trying to find the dagger of the Dark One to unite the blade. Gwen and Lancelot set out to find it with Merlin’s gauntlet, which shows a person's greatest weakness…so the Dagger is Arthur's greatest weakness, not his wife….that’s a bit of an issue. Turns out Lancelot and Gwen are in love with one another. Granted, it’s kind of Arthurs fault. He should have just, oh I don’t know, not gone insane. But, whatever. It apparently doesn’t matter. Instead of getting the Dagger (like Rumple would really ever let that thing go.) Gwen trades the gauntlet for a vial of sand. This magical sand has the power to make things appear ‘fixed’. I really need to get me some of that Avalon sand then… Instead of using the sand on the sword, however, Gwen comes clean about it. Arthur decides that he can’t handle her leaving, so he uses the sand on her, then the kingdom. I guess that explains literally….everything. Things are not as they seem, and really, we should have trusted Lancelot from the very beginning. Either way, in the past/closer to present, Arthur shares the greatest secret of Camelot with David. He decides they should share the truth with the king, and Snow disagrees. After a massive fight, David takes the empty dagger box to Arthur, while Snow takes the Dagger with Lancelot to the perfect hiding place. Arthur followed them, and it’s revealed the whole thing was a total trap set by our power couple. It all looks well, right. The good guys have won, Just kidding! Gwen comes in to save Arthur, along with all the knights, and then some, and oh, look, she has the sand. Now David and Snow are under the spell of the sand, and they’re demanding the dagger from Regina, politely, claiming that Arthur can be trusted and that Lancelot lied. What will Regina do? Hopefully if she’s smart, she’ll get out of there. Thankfully Emma and Hook are off doing whatever, while Henry kindles a new romance. Lancelot makes friends with Merida in the dungeons and everything is so screwed up. In the end, Emma, present day, has Rumple tied up and is determined to make him the hero she needs. A hero she can trust…well, that and Arthur is pretty insane, and a true hero can only pull the sword from the stone. What happened to freeing Merlin? Turns out Merida is alive, and there, and Emma now has her heart and can command her. The task? Make Rumple Brave….like she is. The pun actually had me laughing. I’m really enjoying this season so far, and I’m not going to lie…I’m really concerned about next week's episode…I need to know how Emma got the dagger back and how she got them to Storybrooke. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Leave it to Face Off to make their penultimate episode for season nine to end up being an intense one. Instead of giving the final five a little more time to hone their craft and continue to impress the show decided to go for broke and send home not only one...but two contestants last night, giving the last three standing a title of "Finalist" and a shot at the win. In order to find out who would go and who would stay in "Death Becomes Them", this week's Spotlight Challenge harkened back to campier days in television asking for the contestants to design a whimsical and fun makeup in the vein of The Addams Family or The Munsters by giving us their own modern family member from a creepy clan and the contestants jumped at the chance to have a little fun and impress along the way, but for sure a few of them felt the pressure and that actually led to quite a few surprises. The first little stunner of the night was that Scott was nervous about the whole challenge. He knew this meant he had to bring his A game and that seemed to trip him up a little at first. Another fine surprise was that Nora was cool and collect this week, confident in her sculpture and her work and even Ben, who has been a worry of mine for some time, was in the zone the entire way. One contestant that went into a panic was Evan since his makeup initially was too horror based for the challenge and upon arrival at Last Looks, he discovered it looked like his "Man Dog" from earlier in the season. So, in a frenzy Evan did a crazy repaint job at Last Looks before everyone took the stage to find out who was heading to the finale and the judges wasted no time, stunning me with their first selection, Ben. Now Ben's makeup, The Inappropriate Uncle (pictured above), was pretty damn solid but I still don't know about this move...I'm hoping this is his moment but I still worry about the pressure with him. He was joined by Nora courtesy of her awesome Black Sheep and then the judges surprised everyone. They gave the last three contestants standing; Evan, Scott and Jordan an hour to fix their makeups according to the judges feedback. If you ask me, this was an awesome move, one last chance to show off what they can really do under intense pressure like they would experience on set and the trio of artists went right to it, fixing every little thing the judges asked for and as it turns out, the man who worried the most, made the biggest difference on his makeup and Evan made it into the finale. I was honestly a little stunned at this, since I really thought Scott was taking it all, but he and Jordan went home which means next week is the beginning of the Season Finale and after watching the finalists under pressure tonight...my money is on Nora winning it all because this week is the first time I finally saw her put all of her skills together. Guess we find out who wins season nine soon enough, until then. |
