Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I have to admit, I was a little concerned with the ending of last week's episode of The Librarians. After all, we were mere moments removed from hearing about how Prospero was launching some kind of epic plan and it seemed extremely strange for the hyper intelligent, never miss a thing detail wise Jenkins to just go about his business like nothing happened and forget about the Librarians when the earthquake hitting the annex suddenly stopped. Leaving all of us wondering exactly what the heck was going on. Well it didn't take long to get our answers this week and to top it off, Flynn Carsen returned, heading back to the Annex after getting his hands on the final missing artifact before discovering something was quite amiss...none of his friends were anywhere to be found and Jenkins didn't remember any of them whatsoever. It leads to the Library sending out a clue to a missing Totem Pole in Cicily, Washington, and Flynn makes his way to the town to discover how it relates to his missing Librarians and thankfully, it doesn't take him long to find out that the entire team has ended up here. However, they are vastly different people. Jake is suddenly a professor of 11 courses, Eve is the town Sheriff, Cassandra is a former astronaut and Ezekiel is an FBI Agent and they all work together to solve art crimes on a regular basis. Oh and to top it all off, Morarity just happens to the be mayor of this town and is happily in love with Eve. More or less the whole thing leaves Flynn confused because none of this adds up and he quickly figures out that the team is under some kind of spell, something that is confirmed when another surprise "person" pops up...the fairy Ariel. She is able to fill in the blanks for Flynn, letting him know that Prospero has put all of them under a powerful spell to give them one final happy ending in their lives before the old wizard brings forth the end of the world. The spell can be broken, provided the team willfully rejects their new stories, meaning Flynn has to work to sneak all of them back to the Annex to get them to see what their lives are really all about. The gambit works and Flynn is able to get them to recant and remember who they are after a little bit of work, but a greater problem awaits them...once the spells are broken, including the tiny one Flynn was put under, they discover they have been out of the game for the last three weeks, giving Prospero time enough to put his big plan together and we are treated to the scary sight of the Ley Lines, now supercharged, in the sky...ready to blow at any moment. Suffice it to say, that after a few weeks of some darker storylines than we are used to seeing on this show that this was one of the fun ones. I mean, you really can't go wrong with seeing Ezekiel go from the world's greatest thief to wearing a suit and tie and working with the FBI. It was just neat to get an idea of what each character desires if their lives had gone down another path, but it's a good thing they snapped out of it when they did because clearly Prospero's big time plan is ready to go and well...it doesn't look good at the moment and clearly the stage is set for the season two finale and one big time showdown with the old Wizard. I'm thoroughly enjoying the little cliffhangers the show has been dropping our way the last couple of weeks, and the wait for next Sunday, just became a little more difficult. Until then.

Written by John Edward BetancourtThere's a lot to like when it comes to Battlestar Galactica. It was often well written, packed to the gills with thought provoking storylines, the list goes on and on. But one particular aspect of the show's storytelling that I always enjoyed was the sheer realism the series was happy to present to us when it came to giving us a solid look at people and how they can really act or how they really are when it comes to certain situations. Some characters were sneaky and conniving, serving only their own interests while others were bold and heroic. Or in the case of Colonel Tigh, simply all kinds of messed up. It was that kind of honesty in storytelling that I always appreciated, and one of the series' finest examples of what they could really do with characters and give us that taste of real life and for the sake of this recap...how the masses react to certain situations, came about in the third episode of the show, "Bastille Day". This was of course a direct follow up to "Water", with the fleet having found a supply of the precious liquid to keep everyone and everything going in the fleet, but there is a slight hiccup when it comes to bringing it home...there simply isn't enough qualified manpower for such a dangerous job. It leads President Roslin to come up with the idea of using prison based labor since the Astral Queen, a prison freighter that made the big jump into the unknown with the fleet not so long ago, has enough men aboard to do the job. But the prisoners have a surprise for the delegation that arrives to talk them into a plan that allows them to earn points for freedom in exchange for mining the water...they simply take everyone hostage. They are led by political radical Tom Zarek, who believes that any order from President Roslin is null and void since there was never a full on free election for the people of the fleet for her position and until such an election takes place, the prisoners and the hostages stay aboard the ship. It leads to a delicate cat and mouse game between Commander Adama, Lee and Zarek throughout the episode until Lee finally figures out a sneaky way to satisfy Zarek and get everyone what they want...by letting Tom know that he will get his elections within a year. It isn't something special he promises the man, it's the sheer fact that Roslin inherited President Adar's term, and he only had a year left on his presidency anyway. In the end, everything wraps up in its own happy way, the water is headed back to Galactica but I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with the story this go round. As I mentioned earlier, the show is damn good at showing us for who we are and the behavior exhibited by Zarek and the other prisoners is stuff we have seen before, opportunists that seize the day to speak to the importance of their cause, or do what the prisoners did and take a stand when it seems like poor timing to others and I appreciate the fact the show went there with such an idea. End of the world or not...it makes sense that some people would see the end as their own beginning and to take a chance in storytelling like this, is certainly something you still don't see often, if at all on television. Until next time. If you haven't seen Star Wars yet, you probably live under a rock. And we also can't be friends. Mostly, what have you been doing with your life that brought you to such a low point! Come on! It's Star Wars! No, but really, this series is near and dear to the hearts of so many. We nerds have been through so much, and a lot of us have these movies to thank for it. Whether you grew up watching it as a kid or an adult, the awe is still the same. So with the new movie release happening today, I felt it was time to get our gift on! Mostly, we gotta learn to treat ourselves, and yes, that does mean buying some awesome Star Wars stuff to bring on the fun. I was recently at Disney World and the amount of stuff they have there for Star Wars is amazing. I wanted to buy everything. It took a lot of effort to not give in and bring home some expensive Lightsabers. Dad and I resisted, but barely. Oddly I bought myself more random items than anything, and Star Wars was not on the list. But, that doesn't man I haven't been searching for the awesomeness since I got back. HotTopic was my store of choice today, mostly because, hey, everyone has access to one! So head to the site or the store, they have their displays up and a ton of online goodies for the Star Wars geek in your family, or for yourself. First up, POPs! Be shocked, just go ahead. Take a moment, and be surprised, because yes, I said POPs. I told you I am addicted to these little guys. With only 49 in my collection and 1 an actual Star Wars one, I felt it over due to write about how cute these guys are. The best part of Hot Topic is their exclusive POP! figures, such as Vader here. I've gotten almost all my Supernatural POP! figures here, just because of their exclusive deviations. There is a lot of these little guys running about at the store, and they're adorable. They make great desk ornaments too! Just ask John! Don't worry, if POP! figures are becoming a problem (which they're not, so go buy more anyway!) then head over to the T-shirt section and buy a Funko POP! shirt! Yes, shirt, I actually got two of these from Mattie for my Birthday (Loki and Groot for those who are curious) and I love them. I've gotten a ton of compliments on them already. Just a bit of a warning, the shirts themselves run a bit large. They're soft comfy, and seriously adorable. I recommend them. While there feel free to pick up any other Star Wars shirt. I was going to say Shoes might be a good thing to pick up but I was honestly not sure how I felt about the C3PO shoes I found on the site. Frankly, I'm still on the fence. They're cute, but also really weird looking. Still, for that geek girl they're a wonderful addition. They go nicely with this R2D2 dress. Hot Topic has a lot of amazing dresses and shirts for all! I'm pretty sure I've seen some socks too. Who doesn't need socks! I know I do...of course they also have purses and backpacks, so if you want to show off your love of Star Wars on a daily basis, you can! Not to mention, jackets. Because, guys, I might have a jacket problem..... Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...After revealing to her friend Luke that she was responsible for the death of his wife, Jessica has turned back to the bottle and will not be stopping until she gets cut off. After finding her way to the street, her job for Jeri comes back into play as she sees Wendy walking to the subway station. Stopping Jeri’s soon to be ex-wife and intimidating her to no end to get Wendy to sign the divorce papers, Jessica starts to see that she is losing herself more than she knows. Arriving home and finding the body of Ruben in her bed, Jessica knows that she will never be safe from Kilgrave and has a different plan, one that she can carry out. Wanting to get locked up in the supermax prison, Jessica is ready to turn herself in for the murders that have been carried out either by her or for her. Knowing it will not be easy to convince the police that she is crazy enough to deserve to be in supermax, Jessica turns to Jeri once again for advice. Telling her lawyer to meet her at the police station at 8pm, Jessica has a matter of hours to tie up the loose ends in her life. Trying to make sure everything is ok between her and Luke, Jessica tries the bar, but Luke is taking a couple of days off after the bombshell was dropped on his life. Then visiting Trish’s mother and telling her to stay away from her daughter, Jessica has one final goodbye to say and that is to the city that has made her into the woman she has become. Malcolm will not allow Jessica to go through with her plan and is finally able to get ahold of Trish to help him out. Taking the body down to the river and dumping it in may be the best plan, but Jessica is not too far behind. Trish tries to talk her friend down as well, and promising that she will be able to find Kilgrave with her new lead, Jessica should be happy that their first plan of kidnapping might actually work. While Jessica is grateful for her friends, she knows that getting into supermax is the only way to bring Kilgrave to the surface once again and he would have to make it through several security checkpoints with cameras to get to her, mainly to see him display his power. Having to picks up the pieces that her friends have hidden from her, Jessica is forced to act a little more crazy than normal. But this episode is purely about Kilgrave and his love for Jessica Jones. Purchasing her childhood home and now searching through her current apartment, Kilgrave will not have anyone else fighting for the woman’s heart. Making Ruben kill himself in Jessica’s bed may not have been the best way to win Jessica back, but keeping her from going to prison may be the first step in a long process. As Jessica tries to turn herself in for the murder of Ruben, with head in hand, the police are not willing to throw the book at her yet and when she gets upset and displays her power, she is told that she is free to go. Seeing Kilgrave again, face to face, Jessica is confused to why a man that would confess his love towards her would continue to torture her, but when all is said and done, she knows that she will have to abide by his rules to keep the innocent from getting hurt. The episodes keep getting darker and darker and my mind, that means that they are getting better as the story continues to play out. I am really digging getting to know Kilgrave a little bit more and his motivations seem to be pure, at least for Jessica that is…and for now. With Will Simpson doing anything that Trish asks him too, you know that he has put a target on Kilgrave’s chest and if given the opportunity to take out the mind controller, he will. Malcolm is continuing to remain clean and clear and helping his friend Jessica when now she has pretty much taken his spot. Not wanting her to throw her life away, he is keeping a close eye on her and getting help from her friends when needed. I would only wish I could have a junkie friend like him to keep me straight when the day comes. The Jeri and Wendy divorce story is also reaching its peak, as now Wendy is threating with evidence that could get Jeri disbarred from practicing law ever again. Well, that is it for episode seven. On to the next and this already being the midseason one, well, I cannot wait to see where the second half takes us. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...After Malcolm has cleaned up his act, he is trying to stay with Jessica to make sure that she will be okay as well. When Luke Cage comes calling, Malcolm wants to stand up for his friend, but after being dismissed by Jessica, he will continue to stand his ground. When seeing Jessica arriving home after working with Luke, Malcolm tries to step in, but winds up just talking to Luke about what his intentions are with his friend. Bringing Kilgrave into the conversation, Luke is starting to figure out the effect this monster has on Jessica, but does not understand to what lengths. Luke has a case for Jessica and even though she refuses to take it, he convinces her otherwise. Young Antoine has gone missing and besides Luke looking for him, a loan shark is on his tail as well. Jessica does her normal research on the case, but when she finds nothing about the boy, she tries the next best thing, calling his cell phone and leaving a message that he is a winner of a new Xbox. Getting a call back from a man with an accent, Jessica gives the stranger a time and a place to claim his prize. While waiting to see who shows up, Luke and Jessica follow the stranger back to his place of business and threaten him to give up Antoine’s location. Finding Antoine is part of the drug operation, Jessica and Luke have also lead the loan shark to the same location. Not willing to give up her find, Jessica and Luke have to fight their way free of the loan shark and his men, but when Jessica sees an opening to get Antoine home, she has to take it. After Hope was beaten by Sissy in the prison, Jeri is first on the scene to find out what happened. Not being told anything, she leaves since she has more pressing events to take care of, but Jessica is able to make the inmates talk. Finding out that Hope is pregnant with Kilgrave’s child, she understands what the girl is going through and will do anything to help her. Providing Hope with an abortion pill, Jessica is forced to leave and pursue the Antoine case and makes Jeri stay with the girl until the pill has taken full effect and there is no more baby. As Jeri watches the young girl suffer, she decides to leave as well but requests the unborn fetus from the prison doctor for reasons only she knows. Kilgrave is trying to procure funds around town and at a high stakes poker game, he is able to walk away with over a million dollars. Trying to keep his own tabs on Jessica, he has forced the private investigator to send him a photo of herself every day at 10am, since if she does not follow through with this request, Malcolm will be put back under his spell. Being late on this request is not an option for Kilgrave since he has the power to change more than her life and will stop at nothing to see her non smiling face every day. Checking real estate listings, Kilgrave has a plan for his money and arriving at a total stranger’s house, he makes the owner an offer that cannot be refused. Not using his powers is something that is foreign to him, but the purchase of the home is legit and the owner is happy with the price and now Kilgrave has another base of operation. Luke Cage is bound and determined to find Antoine at all costs, not for the love of the boy, but for the information the boy’s sister has locked away. With the promise of information on the accident that killed his wife Reva, Luke has always thought that there was something being hidden from the public records. Jessica is fearful for what Luke might find out about the crash, but when he gets the inside scoop about the driver, Charles Wallace and how he was drunk when his wife was killed, she is briefly relieved. But when Luke gets on Charles’ bus and waits for the last stop to kill the man for what he did, Jessica cannot allow him to go through with it. Coming clean to Luke about how she played a part in Reva’s death, Luke is in denial, but still has to believe the story that is being told to him. Feeling betrayed, Luke goes his own way to find out what to do next and after the two had bonded earlier, Kilgrave might have a super strong man chasing after him as well. This is a very intense episode filled with decisions that most people should never have to face. With Luke finding out that Jessica killed his wife and the relationship the two have had, he may never be able to trust anyone again. A huge change from where the episode started and he is starting to believe that Kilgrave is a real threat and will help out Jessica at every turn. Jeri is still trying to dig up the dirt on her soon to be ex-wife and needs the information sooner than later. Jessica has so many things going on, and being at the bottom of her list, she will get to Jeri’s request, but wants to find out that information that Antoine’s sister has on the crash before Luke finds out her involvement. This is a great episode for Malcolm as he is now clean, sober and out of Kilgrave’s control. He is taking his life more seriously now and will do anything for Jessica since she has been able to save him a second time. Wow, just wow is all I have to say to this point. Almost halfway through the series and I need more, at least for all of my questions to be answered, but there are still seven episodes left and I doubt they will keep me in the dark for too much longer. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Sometimes you're rewarded and rewarded well when you stick it out with a brand new show as it finds its footing and that's exactly what fans of Supergirl have been treated to the last couple of weeks...a grand reward. If last week was the first step toward the show finding its voice, then the winter finale served up the show finding its stride since last night's episode finally put on display what this series can really do storytelling wise. This was an episode that finally addressed my biggest issue with the show, the lack of respect and trust for Kara all while progressing the plot forward in fantastic fashion all while giving Supergirl a fine challenge at last as she squared off against her crazy Aunt and her army of Kryptonians. So to say the least, this is an episode I completely enjoyed, because the characters managed to drive the entire plot and to top it off, Cat Grant was more than a megalomaniacal monster, she came across as a genuine human being at last. Granted we've seen flashes of her humanity before but at last...it was on full display and that played an important part in tonight's episode as well. Actually, Cat's tale took up a good chunk of this particular episode simply because of the fact that the media mogul was in big trouble for a change, courtesy of an epic email hack that sent her personal letters out in to the world. Naturally, the board wants answers and the Chairman of the Board, Dirk Armstrong, a man who Cat thought was a foe, actually supports her from the get go. But naturally Cat is suspicious and Kara's super hearing confirms that suspicion, when she hears Dirk boasting over the fact Cat will eventually have to resign courtesy of his actions. It leads her to use Winn's technical skill and James' cunning to plant a device on Dirk's machine that gets them the evidence they need to reveal Dirk was behind everything and get him out of CatCo. The truth couldn't arrive a moment sooner, since Cat was prepared to resign since it would soon be revealed that she was making payments to an Adam Foster, her other son that she kept in the shadows. In the middle of all of this, Kara is of course keeping busy dealing with her Aunt Astra who wants Kara to join her in her quest to help humanity in...violent fashion. It leads to a Man of Steel style showdown in the heart of National City where Kara emerges victorious, dragging her Aunt into the DEO and this victory allows her to be able to finally confront her Aunt and her past. We finally see how hard the whole ordeal of leaving Krypton has been upon her and how difficult it is to deal with the fact her mother used her as bait to capture Astra. This was, some of the finest work from Melissa Benoist on the show to date and a fine touch to the story. But it was part of a larger plan. Astra wanted to be captured to distract the DEO as her husband Non and the Kryptonians assault Lord Technologies. It means Kara has to rush in to save the day but before she goes...Cat Grant reveals that she has finally put two and two together from Kara' slip up about hearing what Dirk was up to...and knows her beloved assistant...is Supergirl. As expected, our super showdown at Lord Technologies ends in a cliffhanger and I'm okay with that, but I'm actually not okay with Cat knowing Kara's true identity. I guess that's my only complaint about the show last night and I suppose super hero storytelling in general these days...the fact that every single hero's true identity is basically the worst kept secret in the history of ever. At this rate National City should know who Kara really is by the end of next season. But I digress, that's really a minor complaint because as I mentioned before, this winter finale was absolutely sublime. Supergirl has finally come into her own, she is a strong and confident hero and it's great to see everyone working together at last. Now to wait a few weeks unfortunately to watch Kara deal with Non and hopefully resolve the Kryptonian threat. Until then. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...If there is one thing that has made season two of The Librarians extra special this year, it's been the character centric episodes that happen to focus on one particular Librarian. We had an episode dedicated to Jake, one for Cassandra and we've all been waiting with baited breath for an episode that focused solely on Ezekiel Jones and last night...our wait finally came to an end. In fact of the three episodes focusing on our intrepid heroes, Ezekiel's episode turned out to be the strongest of them all, combining all the qualities we love about our master thief while giving him the biggest and broadest storyline of them all that managed to combine science fiction, horror and well...a surprise little twist in between that made for one fun and incredible episode. But most importantly of all, this was the episode where Mister Jones was finally allowed to shine and the growth he went through was absolutely wonderful. But first, onto the story. This go round the group was summoned to a DARPA facility where an ore from Atlantis was placed into the core of a super computer and of course things go terribly wrong. It looks like the super computer is about to blow and mere moments after the Librarians arrive, they try to escape, only to find themselves back in the DARPA facility and only Ezekiel has any memory of their first attempt to get away. It doesn't take long to discover nothing is as it seems at the facility since it is filled the DARPA employees, now transformed into what appear to be zombies, or as Ezekiel calls them, rage monsters. It also doesn't take long for Ezekiel to realize they are trapped in some sort of loop for every time someone is attacked or dies they find themselves resetting and heading back to the same point in time. Yet despite knowing what is coming, there seems to be no way to escape or perform the right actions to get everyone to safety and that's when Ezekiel discovers...it's not a time loop it's a video game, and the only way to escape is to beat the game. He buckles down and explores the game, eventually figuring out the exit point and that's when things became really special for the character. With every failure, with every reset something changed in Ezekiel. Gone was the bravado we know him best for, he genuinely began to care about keeping his friends unharmed and made plenty of sacrifices and tough choices along the way to see them stay safe. He cares so much that he is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice when they reach the game's final exit point in order to see them survive and the good news is, they do and once everything is back to normal the group manages to bring back everyone that went missing in the accident, including Ezekiel...without a shred of memory of the man he was but a few moments ago. They try to jog his memory back at the Annex of the new and improved man he turned out to be to no avail...but as it turns out, there were bigger fish to fry. A fairy that Jenkins summoned to learn more about Prospero's plan returned with news that the ancient wizard's scheme was about to go into action at that exact moment, leaving the Library shaking and Jenkins rushing to stop the Librarians from walking into a trap when well...everything suddenly returns to normal. Jenkins no longer seems concerned and moves on with his day. What the heck Prospero did...we don't quite know yet, but I find it fascinating that the Fairy said he fears the Librarians and the fact that the lights went out in the Library in those final moments. Should be interesting to see how this little cliffhanger wraps up. But, before we go, as I mentioned before, this was the strongest "solo" episode of the show this season and man, I was completely blown away with Ezekiel's journey. His growth was nothing short of amazing and it was a deeply touching moment to see him declare, sadly on several occasions, that he could no longer watch his friends die. It is a shame to see him forget all that he learned, especially what kind of hero he could be, but I understand why. After all, what would the show be without the wild and reckless Ezekiel Jones? But at least we know what he is really capable of and one has to wonder if the heroic Ezekiel won't pop up again sometime soon... Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...With the new information that Jessica has pieced together, she now knows that her friendly junkie Malcolm has been the one keeping tabs on her for Kilgrave and knows that she will be able to find her torturer once again. Following Malcolm to a drop point, Jessica sees that a random stranger approaches Malcolm and gives him a destination to hand off the photos. Seeing her tormentor in the flesh once again, Jessica has to come up with a plan on how to drug Kilgrave and take him to a place where he will not be able to hurt anyone going forward. If not for her own sanity, for Hope’s sake so she can be proven innocent in her actions and released from prison. Trish has found a new suitor in the form of the man that tried to kill her. After finding out more about Will Simpson, she has fallen for him in a way and Will is not putting up with Jessica’s distain for him. Simpson has some abilities of his own that could prove useful to the group and after bringing himself in on the fight against Kilgrave, he may prove to be more valuable than not. Being former Special Ops, Simpson knows more about the underbelly of the city and is ready to put his knowledge and skill set to work in capturing Kilgrave and having a place where the monster can be held, Jessica has no choice but to bring him into the loop. Running their own operation, Jessica, Trish and Simpson are able to locate Kilgrave, but when the mission starts to go awry, Jessica has to make herself seen by the man that changed her life. Running out in the street and yelling at him, Jessica is able to cause enough of a diversion to have Simpson move in for the tranquilizer shot and the group is able to make it to the safe house. But little do they know that Kilgrave is prepared for such a situation and a group of mercs move in and secure him before the group knows what hit them. Having one hostage from the situation, Simpson is able to put his knowledge of interrogation to the test to find out what happened and where Kilgrave was taken, but it may be too little too late as the man that can control others minds is already moved away from the premises and waiting to make his next move. With nothing else on her plate since Kilgrave has been taken to a secure location out of her reach, Jessica turns her attention to Malcolm. As he admits that he did not succumb to Kilgrave’s mind tricks, he was just doing it for the drugs, Jessica has a plan of her own to clean him up. Knowing that he is overall a good person, she locks him in her bathroom and waits for the drugs to fight their way out of his system. Giving Malcolm a choice of what he can be, Jessica even lays his drugs on the counter and is grateful to see that he is willing to take the next step when all of the drugs are thrown into the toilet. Jessica may not have been able to save the world or other people affected by Kilgrave, but she just might have gotten another ally in the fight against Kilgrave. In this episode, you get to find out much more about Jessica’s back story. After seeing Jessica save a little girl's life before she gets run over by a cab, Jessica might have found the business that she is good at. As Trish is crazy over the idea of her friend defending the streets from the vermin that have been making people’s lives hell, she will back Jessica with all that she has got. Although they cannot work out a costume, much less a name that Jessica can agree on, helping people is something that she is really good at. But all is not as it seems when she saves a man from being mugged and a tall dark stranger approaches and commends her on the task. Meeting Kilgrave for the first time, Jessica does not know who the man is, but soon finds out that she will do anything that he asks of her. Not completely the origin story of Jessica, but you get to see what happened to her and why Kilgrave is the bane of her existence. With all of the good she has tried to do on the streets, there is plenty of bad that she will have to live with as well and it came from Kilgrave himself. Simpson has proven his worth to the team and even though he is digging his time with Trish, he is ashamed that the group was not able to hold the most powerful villains that he has ever encountered. Hope is having problems in prison and big Sissy has her eyes on the young girl and not in a good way. I am not sure what to think about Jessica’s neighbor Ruben, but he seems to be in the right place at the right time and might be hiding something about himself and his twin sister that will come to play in the story. And Malcolm is going to try to sober up and become something more than just the junkie down the hall, he has Jessica to thank for not being dead yet and hopefully he will be able to repay the favor. With so much going on, this episode had more lines that I laughed at than the previous episodes combined. That is a feat and even though there was a bit more comedy, it is not taking away from the story of Jessica and her fears that Kilgrave can bring to light. On to episode six! Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Jessica has to battle with her inner demons when it comes to taking on a new case based on referral. After what happened to the Shlottman family, she will not take another chance that Kilgrave might be behind it. When she is approached by Audrey Eastman to photograph her cheating husband, Jessica has to find out what the woman’s intentions really are. Trailing her new client, Jessica sees that the woman has a gun and is ready to use it at a moment’s notice, but on who is the question Jessica needs answered and will soon find out when she determines that Kilgrave is not behind the visit. After Trish’s interview with Hope, Jeri Hogarth’s office is blowing up with people claiming to have been controlled by Kilgrave. When Jessica sees this, she enters into the questioning of each person taking the time to make this claim. Although there are several crazy ones that are blaming Kilgrave for the mistakes they made in the past, there are some legit ones there as well. Jessica forms a sort of Kilgrave support group with his victims, and even though she does not want to be a part of it, she knows that talking out what the monster did to them will help in their healing process. While listening to one of the stories being told, Jessica finds out a new clue to where Kilgrave has been hiding and who might be keeping tabs on her around town. Trish is dealing with what has happened to her and when Sargent Simpson shows back up at her door, she does not know what to do. Thinking that he is there to kill her, Trish calls Jessica who is able to defuse the situation when opening the door. As Simpson is blown away that Trish is still alive, he needs to find a way to cope with what he had done and is begging forgiveness, along with a chance to help find Kilgrave and bring him down for what he has done to the innocent. Although Trish knows that Simpson was not trying to kill her on his own, she will not allow him to get near for the fear of what may happen next. Simpson is persistent however and when he delivers Trish a peace offering, the two chat through her reinforced door for a while and find out what makes them both tick. Not being trusting of anyone now, Jessica is trying to find out who is keeping tabs on her for Kilgrave, but with so many people in the Kitchen, it could be one person or it could be many. Keeping her eyes open for anyone suspicious, along with Kilgrave, she has her work cut out for herself. Knowing that she can take care of one of Kilgrave’s targets, Jessica is able to convince Trish to make a public apology on the air for what she had said and a little girl confirmed that she will be safe for the time being. With that out of the way, Jessica works on her case for Mrs. Eastman and finds her husband making is way to an out of the way hotel to take care of his business. When Jessica opens the door to see that the affair he is having is with his wife, she is not sure what Mrs. Eastman really wants until a gun is pointed directly at her. Not forgetting what happened when the Chitauri invaded New York and what the heroes did to defend the city, Audrey Eastman lost her mother and wants to take it out on Jessica for being ‘special’. But Jessica will not go down without a fight and she makes sure that the soon to be unhappy couple understands where she is coming from as well as the hotel room is cut to pieces. You get to learn a little bit more about Jessica and what she is able to do, jumping really high, and what she is dealing with on a personal level. Losing someone close to her is something that she is trying to avoid at all costs, hence why she is keeping everyone at arm’s length for the time being. Trish is having to deal with her own problems and after being attacked, having her attacker come back and try to apologize may not be the healthiest thing, but she gives it a try nonetheless. Sergeant Simpson wants to join the hunt for Kilgrave and is bending the rules he has followed and will do anything to help out Jessica and keep Trish from becoming a victim again. Jeri Hogarth is ready to be divorced so she can run off with her secretary, but her wife is not going to let the marriage end without a fight. Asking Jessica to find the dirt on her wife, Jeri is calling in her favor already, but since she has been the one running around, it does not look like Jessica will be able to deliver any good news. Each episode is better than the last and as you keep learning more about the characters, you like them even more. I cannot wait to see what happens in episode five! Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Jessica is bound and determined to help Hope Shlottman the best that she can and when Hope’s new lawyer Jeri says that she will not protect the girl in the public’s eye, Jessica wants to try a different approach. Jeri is not going to lose face by taking the message of mind control public, but if others will step forward against what Kilgrave is alleged to be able to do, she may change her tune. So Jessica takes another path and her friend Trish has an interview set up with Hope from prison that will have the young coed tell her side of the story. When the show ends, Trish goes off on the monster Kilgrave, but she may not fully understand his power, but he makes sure that she does when he calls into the show. Jessica believes that she has found a way to stop Kilgrave dead in his tracks and needs a doctor to make it happen. Finding a surgical anesthesia that knocks its patents out, she turns to Jeri’s wife Wendy to try and procure a supply. When that does not work, Jessica has to find another way to get the dosage that she needs and when it comes to knocking out a couple of people that stand in her way, she is not afraid, but when the body count starts to get too high, she has to form another plan. When her friend Malcolm makes it home, high as a kite, Jessica sees him as the potential distraction she needs and takes him down to the hospital. Being able to cause a scene, Jessica is able to get the drugs that she needs to take Kilgrave down, but timing is everything and she will need to move quickly before something bad happens to somebody else. As advertised, Kilgrave has taken over another mind and is bent on revenge for what has been said about him. Sending Officer Simpson to kill Trish Walker, he may or may not succeed, but all he wants is to make Jessica’s life worse off. Since Trish lives in a fortress and has been taking Krav Maga lessons ever since Jessica hung up her superhero boots, she has been training to fight her own battles. With now being her time to shine, Trish still needs help from her old friend, but what she may not understand could cost her in the end. After a battle and Trish lies lifeless on the floor, the Officer returns to his commander to deliver the news. Following Simpson, Jessica looks right in the eyes of her past tormentor that has returned from the dead. But Kilgrave will not go down without a fight and having control over everyone in the house, Jessica will not be allowed to follow him, but she will see what his obsession really is. With Luke Cage coming clean about who and what he is, he and Jessica have a grand old time trying to break each other in the bedroom. When going out for coffee, Luke is interested if she knows anyone else that has the same sort of powers that they have. Not being truthful, Jessica will not tell Luke about Kilgrave and what the monster put her through and Luke is starting to recognize that she is holding back a secret. But Jessica has work, she always has work and needs to make sure that her cases are being handled the way she seems fit. Looking in Luke’s medicine cabinet, Jessica sees a face from the past and when she finds out that the woman looking back at her in the photo was Luke’s dead wife, she has another secret that could change the couple’s outlook going forward. I didn't think it was possible, but every episode of this show keeps getting better, because this is the best one I have seen thus far and we are only three in. Learning so much more about each character and how much they care for one another, it will be heart breaking when one gets killed off. I was blown away by the interview with Hope, Jeri and Trish since Jeri is not going to say that mind control is what caused her client to kill her parents to keep her sane appearance in the public eye. With plenty of references to the Avengers, Hell’s Kitchen knows that there are people out there with powers and nothing can seem too farfetched when it comes to strange things. With Kilgrave exposed, it is time to take the fight to the next level and Jessica appears to be ready, even though she is shocked to find out how obsessed the mind controlling individual is with her and her daily activities. |
