It’s that time of year where Back to School is happening, which is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Whether it’s college or high school, or even elementary, going back can be fun, and sad, all at the same time. I know this week is filled with many students packing up and heading off to college for the first time, and with my own little sister getting ready to do the same, I thought it would be fitting to have a Geeky Gifts dedicated to back to school. This first pick I can personally vouch for. ThinkGeek is often my favorite place to shop and buy things from, and this is no exception. Years ago I got this Bag of Holding messenger bag for Christmas, and it was perhaps the best school item I ever used. Yes, it does hold a lot of things and is probably one of the funnest bags you’ll ever need. I’ve always adored messenger bags over conventional backpacks, and for college or high school, this bag is a great addition. Coincidently, this bag is also a great thing to have at conventions, if you’re into that, sleep overs, and for any trip. They also have a leather version of the bag, if you want to kick up that style just a bit. Of course, ThinkGeek has a ton of messenger bags that would make any geek happy to have, and let’s be honest, they’re all a great way to also meet new friends. If messenger bags aren’t your style, you can also find a plethora of backpacks on the site. Hot Topic is another fun place to find those nerdy backpacks, that are both functional as well as statement pieces. With the coolest shapes ever, if I might say so myself, you can have a backpack shaped like the TARDIS, or Captain America’s shield. Sadly, I’ve yet to find the infamous Cheeseburger Backpack from Steven Universe yet, but I promise you I will, because who doesn’t need that in their life right now? You can find other food like backpacks at Target, however. My personal favorite find was a lunchbox that looked like a box of French fries. If that doesn’t get people to hang out with you, I really don’t know what will. For those of you off to live in the dorms, you’re going to need a hamper. And for those of you living wherever and wanting a new hamper, then you should check this out on ThinkGeek. Yes, that does look like a giant Chinese takeout box. Listen, it’s about making people think you’re cool. Nah, I’m just kidding. It’s about what you like. Personally, I find this to be adorable and functional, which are two of my main qualifications for pretty much all things in life. While it’s probably bad at storing your left overs, it is good for holding your dirty (or clean) clothes. Why get a regular springy hamper when you can have a cool one like this? Speaking of things that hold your clothes, let’s talk about clothes! We all know my strange obsession with geek wear. And if we don’t, then guys, I have a strange obsession with geek wear. Why? Why not? I’ll be the first ti admit that 90% of my closet consists of nerd shirts and shoes. The rest is supposedly nicer clothing to wear to nicer events…like dinners…and holidays…but at any given point in time, I promise you I’m wearing some geek shirt of some kind. ThinkGeek, HotTopic and Target are all amazing places for this. HotTopic is my go to for jackets, while ThinkGeek is the best place to find that perfect nerdy shirt. We gotta impress our classmates after all. I’m also not going to lie when I say Kohl’s and Target are fantastic for finding oversized nerdy shirts to use for PJ’s. Granted, you can buy them to fit, but it’s more fun when they’re a bit too big. And lastly, what would back to school be if you didn’t have accessories. Whether you’re decorating a dorm or your bedroom or apartment, you need stuff. This stackable Tetris lamp is the best addition to any home. Plus, it’ll entertain you and your friends for hours. I don’t actually know that, I’m just assuming…mostly because I want to play with it for hours myself. It’s Tetris!? Who doesn’t love that game? And it provides light. It’s even kid friendly for those little ones that need a bit of light to help them sleep. Also on ThinkGeek you can find a ton of other items to add to your home. Like a Star Trek wall communicator, book ends, and of course, POP! figures. Have we been over my POP figure obsession enough? No, we probably haven’t. It’s spreading as fast as their collections can come out! Newest to the family is Harry Potter and Monty Python. I may have to go as far to say that these little guys make great additions to work spaces! And they’re just adorable.
