Written by ScottyWhat would life be like without emotions? Boring is the first thing that comes to mind. Without happiness and joy, there would be no point in trying anything new. Without worry and guilt, we would just do anything that we wanted without any type of fear whatsoever. I know that our emotions can get the best of us at times and we do everything that we can to contain them, but they are there for a reason and we need to follow them to an extent, so we at least know that we are living our lives. On a cheerful night, Guilt is on the prowl and looking to take over the town’s nightlife. Guilt does not only hit up the bars to do his job, but to enjoy himself and make sure that nobody gets away with anything that they shouldn’t. But having too much fun will never deter Guilt from doing his job and doing it effectively. Getting a call from the Assistant to the Boss, Guilt is off again to reign down his power on a couple of making out teenagers. Being drunk, Guilt passes the youth and goes straight for their parents. Breaking up the married couple’s bliss, Guilt is called in to the head office and is told that he needs to take a vacation. Although Guilt does not agree with the idea, he admits that he is getting a bit burnt out and has a vacation laid out for him from the powers above. Arriving on a pleasure cruise, Guilt has a hard time letting go of his work as he is able to make several people feel uncomfortable about his presence, but that all changes when he meets the woman of his dreams. Being taken away by the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, Guilt tries to play his little head games with her, but she is well above giving in. She is on vacation as well and will not let anything take her away from having a good time. After a night of ecstasy, Guilt is trying to drink away his sorrow when his new love comes calling. Needing to talk, the two head up to the main deck and the beauty reveals that she is not human, but Love. Not knowing what to say to this, Guilt comes clean about who he really is as well and the newly formed couple decide to go their separate ways before they take it too far. Being in the same profession may not be a strong enough force to keep the two together, but what is love without guilt? This episode will have to be held near and dear to my heart as I cannot seem to get enough of it. With Guilt trying to be his normal self, even while being told to go on vacation, there is nothing stopping him from doing what he loves to do. It takes Love much longer to reach him, but when she does, she is able to show him there is much more to life than just his skill and is able to get him to recognize it. The show also shows that the world cannot exist without Guilt, as things are starting to fall apart since he has been away. Listening to your emotions is always a good thing, but keeping them in check is what we have to do. If we give in to one too much, we may forget who we really are and do things we are not accustomed to doing. Keep the feeling alive, because if you don’t, who will?

Written by ScottyAs you start to get older, you start lose that extra step that you have relied on all of your life. Things that you were able to do with your eyes closed start to present more of a problem for you if you do not focus. It is hard to believe that this will happen, but as your years start to catch up with you, you will see it happening with more frequency. There is nothing to fear about getting older, as your friends will be going through the same problems, and even though they will not admit it, they are feeling the same pain you are as well. The great Lou Bundles has been in magic for over seventy years and is far from ready to hang it up. Knowing all of the crowd’s favorite tricks by heart, he is starting to hit a couple road blocks. When he is no longer able to pull a person’s card from the deck, he needs a little help and looks to his old magic shop to get some new tricks. When picking up his levitating ball, Lou asks the kid to grab him a couple decks of cards as well. When he gets handed some of the newer playing cards, Lou gets upset and asks for the old ones that are in the case. Since nobody likes to use the antiques anymore, the deck is handed over to him without question. During his next show, Lou loses everything on stage and is unable to get situated for the crowd. Demanding them to stop laughing at him as he still has many tricks to perform, they will not listen so he pulls out his deck of cards and asks for a person to come up on stage. What Lou does not know is that the cards are actually magic and come to life in his very hands. With two cards flying around the room and no one being able to pinpoint what is happening, Lou has made a name for himself once again. Having lunch with the young man that runs the joint, Lou gets offered a job that he cannot refuse and takes it graciously. With the cards by his side, he cannot fail. As his act starts to grow, the cards respond and do everything that he asks them to do. With his name in the light again, Lou returns to his local diner where his friends are looking to congratulate him on his current run of success and demand a trick. But the cards are not willing to comply and Lou feels like the ultimate fool. Trying to take his cards back from his friends, he rips them and knows that they are on their last legs, just like Lou. After repairing the cards and giving them a little wax touch up, Lou comes up with his next act, but once again the cards are becoming more lifeless than he has ever seen them. Needing to do something for his next show, Lou has to devise a plan to go out on top, just the way he had intended. This story tells the tale of a man wanting to go out on his own terms, but when something magical is put into his lap, he changes his wish. Wanting to get back into the spotlight, Lou will do anything to hold his top spot in the club, but knows that it will take more than he can bring. Being presented with some actual magic, Lou wants to exploit his new gift, but then finds out that his new deck of cards are just trying to grant him his previous wish. I would say to be careful what you wish for, but that is not the case as the wish will be granted to the old timer, just not in the way he expected. Always keep an eye on the magicians other hand, as he is pulling out a rabbit with one, he could be robbing you blind with the other. Written by ScottyIt has been a disappointing weekend for Fox to say the least with the relaunch of the Fantastic Four spiraling around the drain. I hate to see it when a director has to defend himself to the critics saying that the studio changed his work and it is in no way his fault for the movie being so bad. With the Fantastic Four franchise being under the Fox brand it is interesting to see what other blunders have been attributed to their name and it might be time for them to move along and get out of the comic book movies altogether. The Fantastic Four has not had a huge fanfare on the big screen and it may be because none of the characters ever seem to be right. The Rise of the Silver Surfer had to have been their best movie, but for some reason it was never on the lips of anyone saying that it was a great movie. I don’t think it was the casting, but I could never really identify with the characters and for a successful movie franchise, you need to be able to have your fans care about who is on the screen. Now with the reboot, it seems like Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are von Doomed to ever see the big screen again. So the big question is, where does Fox go from here? Well, let's look back at their track record with other franchises before we come back to this, some of which have already returned home to Marvel. Blade for example, is one of them. Now the Blade series had something to it and they were almost able to make each movie better than the last. When you get too much momentum however, it is hard to cap it off. Although the third movie contained and excellent storyline, it turned into too much of a cartoon for fans that enjoyed the grit and minimal effects from the first two. This has to be my favorite series of any Marvel character to date, but since it is over and they have no place to go with the story since all of the vampires have been killed with the plague that was released, it would be pointless in bringing it back. But any movie that has or had a good fanfare is always on the radar and with what has happened recently, I would not be surprised to see another reboot of this series. Ghost Rider was a fine idea to bring to the big screen. With plenty of special effects and Nicholas Cage at his best, it should have been a huge success, but it still fell short to expectations. With a sexy cast, it shows that the fans want more from their comic book movies than just T&A. What could have been done to make this franchise a success under Fox’s brand? I really don’t know, but I do know that the stories that they tried to tell were not as easy to follow as they should have been since only the hardcore fans seemed to understand what was going on, along with the why. Can Ghost Rider come back from the flames? I think it could and I think it should, but it would have to be in a small role in an established series to get the fanfare back, and maybe this is another one to appear on Netflix since its rights have also reverted back to Marvel Elektra and Daredevil, yes I have to put these both together since they were both equally as bad. Seeing what Marvel did after acquiring Daredevil back from Fox to make a television series on Netflix, I can now see what the MCU is able to do to bring back failed projects. Do I want to see more of what Marvel has done with their series? Hell yes I do as it was much better than most of the programming I get to see from the regular networks. Do I think that Fox did a good thing letting Daredevil go? You be the judge of that since I am getting my stick and nubby hood on to watch the next season. The Punisher has already been relinquished by Fox back to Marvel and I cannot wait to see what happens when he takes to the small screen. I actually enjoyed the first Punisher with Thomas Jane kicking major ass, but when they recast for the sequel, I was beside myself and started to see that Fox seems to believe that T&A is the only thing that sells. I will admit, there are some beautiful people that appear on the big screen and most of the time I am in awe of them, but if they cannot act their way out of a wet cardboard box, it may be time to change up your formula. Then there's the most successful comic book franchise, X-Men. I don’t know what to say about these movies, but if you don’t like Wolverine, you should probably not watch them. Except for maybe First Class, he told the professor to f-off. These movies have been falling on star power, but the difference is that the first movie made the stars and then they got to carry the franchise. But this franchise is far from not having faults as there seems to be a pattern of one bad movie after a good one. It has to do with the story telling since all of the actors have stayed with it as long as they can to keep it alive. I am worried that there is not a direct follow up to Days of Future Past which was fantastic in my eyes and most of the fans. Overall Apocalypse looks like they are going to kill off all of our favorite characters, since none of them have contracts past this one and then they will have to reboot the franchise. As for Fox’s track record, it looks like they have swung and missed more often than they have hit a home run. There are some good films in these franchises and I will admit I own several of them, but it does not appear that they are doing their job for the fans to keep these characters out of the void of what could have been. I have high hopes for Deadpool in February, but looking at this list, I may have to lower my standards by quite a bit so I am not too disappointed with the results. So should Fox get out of Marvel’s way, and sell everything back to them? Part of me wants to say yes since so many properties have gone back to Marvel, yet part of me wants to say no because of how much Fox contributed to getting the MCU off of the ground. Either way, the only clear path for Fox is to do a better job with these stories period, otherwise Marvel will come knocking to set those stories straight and if you need proof of that, look no further than their involvement/partnership with Sony regarding Spider-Man. Written by ScottyTrying to make something new is never an easy endeavor. With so much failure that can occur, sometimes it is easier to just give up and let some other poor sap try to make it work. But if you have the will and the drive, you might be able to make something amazing. With so many great inventors in the past, who have made our way of life the way it is today, would you want something that you designed to be used by everyone on the planet, every day? It could be for the fame, or better yet, it could be to better humanity and your name could be attached to it, as long as you do not give up. Andy is working his is science project, alone as always. He is trying to design a super small television antenna that can pick up stations from miles always from his home. Living in Hollywood, Andy has his sights on Oakland, but when he powers up the antenna, he has reached much further than that. With his first attempt being able to pick up signals from Idaho, Andy continues to adjust the settings to see how much further it can reach. As the settings are adjusted, he reaches Hawaii next and with a little bit more fiddling, he is able to get as far as China. Making sure he is not crazy, Andy calls his father up to double check, and he is getting a signal from China after all. Telling his classmates that are supposed to be working on the project with him about his progress, they both laugh in his face. Although he is one of the smartest kids in the class, there is no way that he is able to make the antenna work that well. Coming over to Andy’s house to check and see what he is bragging about, the antenna fails to pick up a signal and everyone tries to adjust it in their own way. Wrecking the current settings, the antenna searches for a new signal and finds one from outer space. As the boys watch the television, they see aliens running around and reenacting their favorite shows from ten years ago. With no explanation for what they are watching, they sit back and enjoy. But this distant planet does not seem to have any original shows as everything that they are watching is from the earth's past, just with different actors. When the final show of the night ends, a news report comes on showing three alien astronauts suiting up and heading towards earth. With the exact date being shown on the screen of when they are scheduled to arrive on the planet, the boys are fascinated to meet these beings from another planet. Walking around Hollywood, the boys are lucky enough to find the small invaders, but do not truly understand what they are looking for until running into their favorite television star, Milton Berle. The aliens are looking to get the shows that they have loved for all of these years back on the air. Andy and his friends are not able to convince the aliens that this cannot happen, so they take a step in a different direction and come up with a plan to try and get some older stars of stage and screen to go back to the alien’s home world with them. Not how you would expect an alien landing to go in Hollywood that is for sure. With the boys knowing what is happening, everything seems to be flying under the radar and no one cares in the city. As the boys follow the aliens, they seem to form a bond over television, who would have thunk it. It is a charming tale of how nice everyone can be and utilizing the one thing that we all have in common, our love for television. I don’t know about you, but if aliens came down to the planet to look for movie stars, I might get a little bit upset if they took any of my favorites and I am sure we would start an intergalactic war to get at least a few of them back. As the sun turns black, there is nothing to see except the reflecting aura of stars long deceased. Written by ScottyWell, I have had some free time while my computer has been updating to Windows 10 to check out some movie trailers and I may like or not like what I see. This week has been crazy busy with news on two of the movies that are going to be the largest pushes for 2016 and I cannot wait to see what will happen with them. The first of this series has to be Deadpool who just had a new trailer released this week. I must admit that after the test footage that was released months ago, I was not sure what to expect from this movie, but now with two official trailers coming out, I am much more excited. Showing Wade Wilson being diagnosed with cancer everywhere, he is looking for a way to do right by his wife, but what appears to happen when he is on the operating table is an explosion that will leave him scared for the rest of his days. Covering up with his new ‘super powers’, the new soldier is looking to take his pain out on the evil doers around the city. But that is not all when you get to see that the X-Men are going to be playing a role in this with their mutant powers. I am not sure how this is going to work into the story since Wade was never a mutant and his powers were given to him in a lab. Pretty sure that there is going to be a joke about that somewhere in the movie. Wade will still have his swords, if you saw X-Men Origins: Wolverine you would understand, but there appears to be nothing else the same from that storyline, at least at first glance. Working towards something, looking like his wife has been kidnapped and he has to release her, the undying merc will have his hands filled with his past, along with everyone that is trying to stop his present path to righteousness. After watching these trailers, I am sold on the Deadpool movie, even though I do not fully know the story behind him. Admittedly, I have not been a huge fan of this character, but when he gets thrown into a Romero storyline, Night of the Living Deadpool, I know I can understand some of the things he is able to do. With plenty of action and a conversation with Weasel (T.J. Miller) that has to be improvised to see who will break first, I see that there will be blood along with a huge amount of laughs, and with Ryan Reynolds poking fun at his Green Lantern disaster that was, I do not see any reason to think that this movie will not be worth my time. Will this be Fox’s next blockbuster smash? I fail to see why not right now, but I am sure we will see plenty of additional information coming out of the camp the closer we get to the release date. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Five days have passed and the death toll in Pretty Lake has surpassed six thousand people. With all of the tenured adults gone, the youth of the town is taking over and trying to hold things together. But with no adult supervision, the children are trying to do things that their parents did, such as driving cars. With not authorities left in the town, the current elders are trying to step up, but with so many children running around without anyone watching them, it is next to impossible to keep a lid on it. Chuck, the oldest of his rich family that owns most of the town is trying to take control and after receiving word from the outside world that once they burn the bodies of the deceased, the fences will be removed and they will be able to receive help once again, is ready to take action. But he is not the only one that sees what is happening in his town as Gord has broken into his family’s supermarket and stolen food. Gord is trying to take care of the orphans that are hungry that are staying at the church, but Chuck is not ready to admit that this is the right thing to do just yet. When driving back to the church, Gord sees Ronnie walking out of a neighbor’s house with a bag full of stolen goods. When trying to confront the delinquent, Ronnie pulls a gun on Gord and offers to pull the trigger for no other reason than he can. When trying to talk some sense into the young man, Gord is backed up by Chuck and his friends, but there is something brewing between the young men that cannot be stopped. After seeing what happened to the neighbor’s wife’s finger to remove a ring, Chuck takes his battle to Ronnie’s home, but is stopped from doing anything that could cost him his life by the promise of the quarantine being lifted. Adam is scouring chatrooms, trying to find out what the outside world is really saying about his town’s situation. When hacking into the government files again, he finds that there is a man that has no ties to Pretty Lake, but has taken up residence within the past three months. Thinking that this man might hold the answers to what has happened to the town, Adam starts his search but finds that the man is dead and ready to be cremated in the largest bonfire that the town has ever seen. Wiley is slowly losing it and is starting to give up on life. Not wanting to even name her son, her sister Melissa is stepping into the role. While doing everything that she can at the church to keep the kids in check, when she finds out that one of the children she has claimed responsibility for has been killed outside of the virus, she blames herself. Getting more help from the older kids, there is a weight being put on her shoulders that no one her age should have to carry. Things are heating up in the town of Pretty Lake and not just because of the bonfire burning the bodies of the infected, but the attitudes of those in charge is starting to come to light. Although it appears that Gord does not want the responsibility, he is the most down to earth person and knows what needs to be done, but Chuck is not willing to give up on his family’s legacy in the town just yet. But Chuck is starting to see that his hands are full with his younger sister Amanda who is trying to get their sister to come home by cooking her burgers and fries. But there is something else happening in the town as Chuck finds that his other sister Lana is dead in the woods, an apparent suicide, but Adam seems to think that she has been murdered. A pending power struggle, a murder, and a delinquent that is not trying to make any friends and willing to go to the end with what he knows is right. Someone is going to die in the next episode, which is what I am feeling anyway since there are more weapons in the hands of the kids in Pretty Lake than ever intended. I am sucked in now and need to know what happens next. I hate to say I will need to binge watch this series, but it is looking like I just might need to. Written by ScottyIt is easy to believe in magic, actually it is just down right fun to believe in things that cannot be explained. When going out to magic clubs, or having a physic read you, it is entertaining and sometimes they may be able to get some things right about your past or future, but usually it is just coincidence and the power of suggestion is so strong that you believe that they can see life through your eyes. With so many people making a living out of deceiving their clients, would it not be the greatest thing to have someone that is able to accomplish such a feat? But when you do run into a person with this sort of gift, would you welcome what they have to say, or just dismiss them like all of the others that are just in the game to give you a good show? The Amazing Falsworth is ready to take the stage and listening to the stage hands behind him calling him a phony does not help his attitude. Bypassing his normal tricks, Falsworth is looking to make a statement tonight by telling everyone in the room something about themselves that nobody knows. Being blindfolded and led around the floor, the Amazing Falsworth uses his hands to get a read on everyone that he touches. As he moves around the room, he leaves the audience in shock, but there is a guest that will change his life forever. Touching a serial killer, Falsworth is stunned and knows that he needs to get the police to the theater right away. Arriving in his dressing room, there is a man in a coat waiting for him. Thinking that this is the killer, Falsworth tries to keep him occupied as the phone rings and Detective Spota is on the other end. The man in the coat disrobes and delivers a message, a singing telegram to the entertainer. Being relieved that he is safe, Falsworth waits for the detective to arrive and tries to explain to the non-believer what he has just seen. Without being able to give a description of the killer, Spota has to play along with the rambling physic and wait to see what he can deliver. As Falsworth moves about the empty floor, he touches the chairs where all of his fans were sitting. Finally touching the chair where the murderer was sitting, Falsworth is able to give an address and now Spota can start to do his job. Arriving at the apartment, Spota makes himself at home, but Falsworth does not notice as he lays his eyes on a piano that has missing cords. Knowing that the Keyboard Killer uses these cords to strangle his victims, Falsworth knows he is in the right place. Seeing the killer's face, he also knows that there is little chance that he will be getting out of the apartment alive. Talk about a twist that you would not expect to see coming. This is a great story that keeps you on your toes when you have no idea who the killer really is. With people all around the Amazing Falsworth that he does not know, you have to travel in his shoes to find out who it really is. Since Detective Spota seems to know what is happening, but is sticking to police procedure when trying to help out the physic, but he needs to make sure he is not being led in the wrong direction when trying to find the killer. I love the turn that the story takes, especially when Falsworth is starting to get comfortable in his surroundings. It is difficult to know who you can trust and even when you find a comfort zone with someone, you may have just fallen into their trap. Written by John Edward BetancourtWell an interesting piece of news came across my desk the other day, one that left me torn to say the least. As it turns out, after years of lamenting in development hell, Sony Pictures has finally set a date to bring Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower to life as both a miniseries and motion picture series starting on January 13, 2017. I say that this left me torn, because already I'm nervous. Now before we go any further, this isn't going to be some giant rant about how I expect Hollywood to completely muck it up, there's no need for that. This is a different era for filmmaking, where those behind the camera fully respect the source material. If you don't believe me, look no further than the Marvel revolution in film, where they have consistently made one amazing film after another. Not to mention the advent of CGI, because this is the kind of film that benefits from it since there are parts of Roland Deschain's world that are simply beyond imagination and I think that's why I'm nervous. This is a story that quite frankly has been around in my life, for my entire life. I read The Gunslinger in 1985 when I was six years old, yes I was reading that kind of stuff at six because I swallowed books whole with my brain as a kid, I still do to this day, but I digress. I was hooked on this world, I needed to know more, I had to know how it ended and I devoured every single edition that came out from beginning to end, including the 2012 release of The Wind Through the Keyhole. It's a series that inspired my imagination, and now...it's coming to life before my eyes. I'm nervous because I know what kind of work has to go into adapting something this epic. These are some of the most detailed books I have ever read, and one could truly compare them to The Lord of the Rings when it comes to the scope of this adventure and well...it's King's finest work. It truly combines everything he has ever written in a magical way and that's a lot of territory to cover and lots of details that will have to be left out whether fans like it or not, myself included. That's the stuff that will no doubt upset me, those little details you fawned over in the novel gone forever to strengthen the core of the story. I am looking forward to this, make no doubt about it. It's just that I have to find a way to get my inner child to be happy with an updated and slightly different story than the one that left him giddy with joy so many years ago. I guess really, I just need to get over it, and be pleased in the fact that this powerhouse story is finally coming to visual life and the books will always be there regardless. All I can ask of the folks behind the camera is to give us the best possible adaptation of the story that they can, and to wow us please and if they can guarantee that...I'll be there come January 2017. Written by ScottyThere are many times in life when you have the chance to do something special for yourself or your friends. If you are willing to take that extra step however is the question. Knowing that they will do anything within their power to make sure you are successful in your ventures is one thing, but are you willing to pay them back for it, even if it could cost you something extra. Even if you are not able to help, your friends will still be there for you, but they may be a little more hesitant in the future to step up when called upon. On his way out of the Air Force since his time is up, Jonathan has one more thing that he has to do. With his former crew being one flight short of twenty four successful missions, Jonathan has been branded the Captain’s lucky charm. Not wanting his buddies to fall short of such a feat, Jonathan puts on his uniform one last time and heads down to the airstrip to board the B-17. But the Captain is none too happy to see the young man, since he has just gotten married and should be heading state side. But Jonathan is not willing to give up on this and since he has been nothing less than good luck for the crew, he is able to join one more time. Jonathan is all about tradition and this mission is no exception since he is a talented artist and makes sure to draw his usual pre mission cartoon and by sending his picture up to the cockpit, the crew is ready to start their final trip together. As everyone is ready for the war to be over, they know what they are charged with and continue with their duties. With their good luck charm and belly gunner along for the ride, they all know that they are in good hands. But they are not aware of the enemy hiding in the sun and are caught off guard for the first wave of attackers. Being able to catch up quickly, all of the enemy’s aircraft are blown out of the sky, but the front of one of the victim’s planes crashes into the overloaded B-17. Not hurting anyone in the process, the damage from the collision damages the hydraulic system that allows Jonathan to move around in the belly gun. With the metal being fused together from the heat, Jonathan is trapped on the belly of the plane for the remainder of the trip, but when the Captain finds out that the landing gear is no longer working, he needs to find a way to get the boy out of his soon to be tomb. Without being able to get the hatch to open without a blow torch, Jonathan is trapped in the little space and begs for his Captain to come up with a plan of releasing him. When nothing works, the Captain starts to ignore his gunman and focuses on landing the plane safely. But Jonathan has a wild idea. Since he has drawn what would happen to the plane before takeoff, he may be able to change what happens to the plane before it lands as well. This is a great episode as you get to see a band of friends band together to try to help one of their own. Not wanting to give up for any reason to release Jonathan from the fused in belly gun, all of the ideas are good, but nothing conventional will work with their time remaining in the air. The Captain has to focus on getting his men safely back to base, or they will all lose their lives when the plane runs out of fuel and at the cost of his good luck charm's life, he will not let that happen. Every character in this episode shows how much love they have for their friend and they will go to the ends of the earth to save him, but when they are not able to get anything to work, they come up with an alternative that might make his impending doom a little less painful. But Jonathan is a fighter and will never give up since he knows what he is meant for on this planet and will not let his life end without a fight, no matter how crazy his ideas really are. Keep dreaming, you never know when one will come to life. I am very intrigued to find out what is killing off the residents of Pretty Lake, but have a feeling it will be a couple episodes before we figure it out. With the only victims of the virus being over the age of twenty two, it looks like the kids are going to have to keep the small town together and find a way to survive on their own. The quarantine of the town is going to cause many problems for the survivors as even if they try to approach the fence, they are targeted with the orders shoot to kill being passed on. What will happen in Pretty Lake? I have no idea, but will keep watching to find out. |
