Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...When Dean gets wind of a case he tries engaging Sam, but Sam, seems distracted, with good reason. He’s called Charlie in to help Rowena decipher the Codex. But, Sam can’t be there 24/7 to watch the two of them, so he asks Cas to stay and watch girls; surely this won’t end badly. Charlie is fine helping out, but she’s struggling with lying to Dean about it. Since, you know, they’re lying to Dean about it! Keeping things from each other is so not right, according to her and Castiel. Sam and Dean have done this since the beginning of, I don't know, ever, and it’s never worked in their favor. This is no exception. If there's one thing about these two, it's their huge amount of disfunction. Regardless, Dean drags Sam along to in vestige the murder of a college girl. Her throat was slit and her eyes taken. While viewing security footage, Sam and Dean notice a tattoo on the guy who killed that poor girl. Turns out he’s a member of the Stein family. With some research they find out that the Stein’s just magically appeared one day, which families with that kind of power don’t do. They’re able to capture the Guy, since he, and a lackey, try to jump Dean after he picked up pizza. With the baddie chained up, Dean gets to the bottom of some things. He finds out that the book is protected by magic and can’t be destroyed, which doesn’t quite add up because he saw Sam burn the book….right? And the family? Frankenstein was their original name before Mary Shelley wrote a book about them exposing their family and forcing them to go into hiding. I guess when you're a family of monsters, stealing body parts from other people to enhance yourself, you should keep that quiet. They call it a harvest, and they normally don't leave anything behind, this guy, got sloppy. The family in question has caused a lot of damage without the book. Including things like 9/11 and the most recent of wars. It's something that doesn’t sit well with the older Winchester. Sam on the other hand, is still too distracted. He leaves when Castiel calls him again, leaving Dean time to get all the information he needs. Like, the book not being destructible. Being a baddie, and a Frankenstein, our captive rips his own arm off, literally, and breaks free of the Bunker. Castiel was calling Sam to tell him he needed a way to separate Charlie and Rowena. Charlie is demanding quiet since Rowena is a bit of an annoyance…which is actually fair. While Sam has no time or way to help Castiel right now, so Cas just drags Rowena off into another room to give Charlie the space she demanded. Charlie, however, takes this as an opportunity to leave and go find her own quiet. She checks into a motel to continue deciphering the codex. She’s not got the knowledge that Rowena does, but she does have a computer and an ability to look for patterns and figure things out, viewing the codex as a type of computer code than anything else. She’s also unaware that the entire Stein family is after her, since they're thinking she has the book. And now so does Dean. After a panicked call from Cas about Charlie missing, Dean has figured a few things out. Sam lied, Charlie is involved, and now Charlie is being hunted. Our Baddie shows up at her door, demanding entry. Charlie runs and hides in the bathroom and calls the boys; who tell her to hand over what she’s working on only, she can’t do that. This is Dean's only chance and she has actually translated the codex! Right as her room has been broken into, her computer finishes uploading the translation, presumably to Sam. She takes the chance and smashes her computer, right as the bad guy waltzes in. By the time Sam and Dean find her…it’s not pretty. In fact, it was awful. I mean...it's just not right seeing Charlie go. With Charlie’s death looming over them, Dean aware of Sam’s lies…and the codex translated, something good has to come out of this, right? The murder of a family member is never easy, and Dean is on the hunt for blood and vengeance. Justice will be had.
