'Stan Against Evil' Recap: 'The Black Hat Society - Part 1'

A little over a week after Evie has been taken by Constable Eccles, Stan is starting to have strange dreams about a woman that he never knew. Waking up in his dreams and talking to this woman named Evie, Stan is told that he is living in the wrong world but does not quite understand what that means. 

​Getting up to start a new day, Stan calls his daughter Evie and Denise wants to get to the bottom of what is going on with her father and wonders if Stan is cheating on the memory of her mother. With strange visions taking over his day, Stan runs into someone else that he thinks that he knows, but cannot quite place it once again, and this is only the beginning.

After seeing that their savior is starting to reconnect with the real past, the Black Hat Society is ready to take their next steps, but there are problems in the group as Judy does not know if anyone wants any snacks. Trying to keep the group focused on the task at hand, Lara and Constance continue the meeting and the group winds up at the grave of Stan’s dead wife. With chants to praise the fallen soldier in the fight against evil, they are interrupted by Stan who has more questions. Bringing Lara and Constance into his home, Stan finds out more about the wife that he has forgotten after the loss of Willard’s Mill’s old sheriff.

Without being able to take a step anywhere without having a memory of this stranger Evie, Stan needs to get to the bottom of what is happening to him. Finding out that his wife was involved in the fight against evil, he is starting to put the pieces together from the visions he cannot get away from. Hearing that he is supposed to save this witch Evie Barret somehow, Stan heads to the cemetery and tries to locate her grave. But there is something hiding under the soil that is much more sinister than a witch as a creature from Stan’s dreams comes to life. Knowing that this is a trap set by Eccles, Lara and Constance fear for their lives, but they do not what Stan Miller is capable of when it comes to killing demons. 

This is a really fun start to the second season of Stan Against Evil, as you pretty much pick up right where the previous season has ended, well, at least eleven days after the first season ended. With Evie being taken to the past and judged as a witch, it has changed the history of the town and while most everything seems to be the same, it is different and while Stan is starting to see this with his own two eyes, the Black Hat Society knows it for sure. And now I am more intrigued to know what happened to Evie that put her into the Wicca history books, since it was told that she disappeared before being burned at the stake. Well, it looks like this season is starting off right with a cliffhanger that may or may not give us the return of Evie Barret to present time and possibly the return to reality that Willard’s Mill may desperately need. Stay Scared.
