Written by Scott Edwards The joy and excitement that comes from Christmas Eve is a childhood memory that you never forget. With the promise of getting presents in the morning and stories of Santa bringing them to you while you are sleeping is something that fascinated most of us. Wanting to catch a glimpse of the Jolly old bearded man that somehow made his way into our houses is something that most of us tried to do at least once in our lives. The possibility that we could actually see Old Saint Nick doing something that seemed impossible may be the only reason we stayed up later than we should have, that or the excitement of getting presents in the morning and being hopped up on the milk and cookies that we guzzled down after dinner. Waking up with the intent of putting her sister’s gift under the Christmas tree, young Kenley walks into the family room and sees someone that she never expected to see, Santa. Pulling on the old man’s red suit, Kenley is shocked to see that this is not the Jolly old bearded man that she envisioned, but a monster that is looking to feed on something other than cookies. Not being able to escape the monster’s grasp, Kenley is consumed by the imposter, but not before her sister sees what is really going on. Letting out a scream after seeing her sister disappear into the monster’s belly, Delaney is no longer looking for presents from the Jolly Old Child Eater, but revenge for the loss of her sister. Years have passed and Delaney is ready to put a full proof plan of attack into action. With her friends gathered around the table, Delaney outlines what each of the group is going to be tasked with as Walter makes his rounds on Christmas Eve and leaves piece of coal in the wake of the children he takes. Staying up late and hiding behind the couch, the group starts to see and hear the signs of Walter making his way into the house and a loud bang comes from the front door. Answering the knocks, Delaney is shocked to see Anjelica ranting and raving about not being invited to the party, but before the girl is able to complete her thought, Walter is behind her with the need to feed. Locking the door, Delaney makes sure her friends are ready for the attack but is shocked when she sees that Walter is not only a child eating imposter, but the bringer of nostalgic gifts as well. When seeing the title of this horror short, I was wondering who Walter was and was actually surprised that he was an imposter Santa, but not at all shocked when he was eating kids, because let’s be honest, there is very little that is off the table when you are watching something from CryptTV. The kids were all great, with all of the major tropes being highlighted, especially when it comes to trying to use technology while battling a monster. With a plan to kill the child eating beast, some oversized candy canes, plenty of Christmas lights, cookies, milk, a snow globe and a catch phrase for the season, this horror short will make you think twice about trying to catch Santa in the act of delivering presents, because that is a bad thing and he might just give you coal, or take it to the next step and turn you into it instead.
