Retro Recap - Tales from the Crypt: "The Sacrifice"

For some people, finding love comes easy, but for others, it takes them a lifetime to find.  Not knowing when or where it can make its appearance, most people go along with their everyday lives and hope it falls in their lap.  But there are the other people that turn to the social outlets, hitting up bars, clubs or even the internet to find the person of their dreams.  There are the special times when the love of your life falls into your lap, as you are just going on with your normal life, but will you be aware enough to pounce at the opportunity?

James Reed is a hot shot insurance salesman that is looking to sign the next big account for his company.  Meeting with the extremely wealthy Sebastian Fielding, James is finding out that the deal is not what he is looking for, but meeting Mrs. Fielding, he knows that all is not lost.  Having to pay money out of his own pocket to make a deal with Sebastian, James hopes that he will get something more out of the deal.  When Mrs. Fielding comes calling, he knows that he has made the right decision.

Although Gloria is not a gold digger, she is looking to get out of her relationship with her husband and James is formulating a plan to make that happen.  Getting the paperwork ready to sign, Sebastian stands on the balcony of his penthouse and watches the lights come on.  James sees his opportunity and pushes the rich man over the rail and to his death.  Gloria and James are now free to move on to the next stage of their relationship, but somebody else knows what happened and will not stand idly by while the two ride into the sunset together.

Jerry Jasper, James’ boss comes calling while the two are making their plans for their upcoming life together.  Jerry comes clean about being obsessed with Gloria, and admits to seeing and taking pictures of the murder taking place.  Promising to not go to the police, unless the couple goes along with the deal he presents them with.  Wanting to share the affections of Gloria, Jerry will not stop until he gets everything that he wants.  As the months go by, Gloria is sent back to James ragged and beat up, but there is nothing he can do to stop this and makes him hurt so deeply while watching the love of his life be abused as such.  But does Gloria feel the same way James does about the deal, or is she just looking to drive him insane?

The classic tale of man finds woman, falls in love, but the woman is not available.  But it has just a bit more than that as she has a secret of her own about her relationship with her husband, along with someone else that is not in the picture.  I must admit, I did not see the ending coming, but as all of these tales come to life, it is not too surprising to see what happens.  Staring Kim Delaney as Gloria, Kevin Kilner as James and Michael Ironside as Jerry, it is a great cast to bring this story to life, especially with all of the hate and remorse that is shown to make it believable.  So until next time kiddies, Stay Scared.
