Written by ScottyThere is something that is hidden deep down in our minds called a conscience. Many people listen to this little voice in their heads when faced with making difficult decisions, while others may decide on ignoring it since they know what they are doing is right for them. Your conscience is supposed to point you in the direction of doing the right then when you are trying to do something wrong. You have to decide whether or not to listen to it when it comes calling, and hopefully, it will guide you in the right direction. Club manager Marty Slash is hearing a strange muffled sound inside of his ears and decides to go to the doctor to see what is causing it. Although his doctor does not see anything wrong when looking he knows that working in a club and dealing with all of the loud music can destroy people's hearing, so he gives Marty a couple of treatment options, but his best advice is to have his patient leave the business. Marty is not happy with the answers he receives, but will take his doctor’s advice in leaving the business, since he has his retirement plan already in motion. Running a ‘Save the Amazon’ concert series, Marty has raised a million dollars to send down for the great benefit. Sharing the oversized check with the crowd and a special guest, Chief Kabubi, Marty comes off looking like a savior. But he has real plans for the money and that is to retire and get away from the rock n’ roll business forever. Packing up the million dollars, his conscience tries to talk him out of what he is about to do. Marty will not listen to the little voice in his head and that proves to be his biggest mistake. Knowing that something bad will happen to Marty, his conscience keeps trying to warn him about what will happen if he goes through with it, but a knock on the door will change Marty’s outlook on it altogether. A tall, attractive female groupie is waiting to talk with Marty and express her love for the man’s efforts in saving the Amazon. But she has a secret of her own as well, being his banker, she knows what Marty is planning and wants half of the stolen money or she will go to the cops. Marty is not willing to give up on his shot of happiness and kills his banker, but when it rains, it pours on him as his next visitor is a police officer. Screaming at him to confess about what he has done and what he is going to do, Marty’s conscience will not back down and Marty has to find a way to silence it. Using the ear wash and ointment given to him by the doctor, Marty cannot escape the voice. Wanting to continue with his foolproof plan, Marty starts to head towards the door, but his conscience is getting louder and everyone is starting to it yell as Marty is trying to pass by. Or is it just Marty’s imagination as he slowly begins to slip into madness. A crazy story about a man having to convince himself that what he is doing is right. In making the biggest decision in his life, Marty’s conscience comes to life after thirty plus years and will not let him go through with it, not without a fight anyway. With every step that Marty takes towards his new life, his conscience makes him take two steps back with reasons why it is not a good idea, but that is not the only obstacle that Marty has to deal with as at least one other person knows about his plan of embezzling the Amazon money. Staring Lee Arenberg as Marty Slash, Katey Sagal as Ms. Kilbasser (Banker), and Sam Kinison as Marty’s Conscience, this story was just fantastic from the get go. The inner battle that Marty has to deal with is just epic and putting a voice to what is actually being said inside his mind, there is none better than Kinison to make you feel Marty’s pain and hatred towards his self, or at least his conscience. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared.
