Nerds That Geek Movie Review – ‘Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy Fulfilled’

Testing one’s relationship status is never fun, but it can be essential to making sure it will last a lifetime. Since nobody knows what the future has in store for them, even an accident can challenge the relationship to the point where one or both parties will walk away. It is difficult to even fathom that everything will not go right one day, and one person may want to leave for no other reason than feeling sorry for themselves, but it does happen. It is always important to give your relationship a hard look from time to time and if there is something that does not feel right about it, you may need to raise some questions before it is too late.

While Lisa is meeting with her lawyer Steven about the case for her boyfriend who was injured severely in an accident, she finds out that they are not the only ones suffering. As Steven is working the case without compensation for the couple, he also wants to throw his name into the ring to start dating Lisa. While Lisa is not really looking, it is apparent to everyone that her boyfriend Sam is not the same man she fell in love with and now with the loss of movement in his legs, he continues to push her away. When dropping the gift that Steven has given her, Lisa sees a large opal that the two did not know was inside. Putting it away for a rainy day, Steven is slightly upset about the situation, but will continue to work his heart out for Lisa, both professionally and personally. 

As the Djinn awakens and finds that Steven is in love with Lisa, he offers the love torn lawyer a wish. Fulfilling Steven’s wish, the Djinn takes his soul payment quickly and is ready to change Lisa’s life, no matter the cost. As Lisa notices a change in the lawyer, the new Steven is much more upfront and seems to have a new fire in his heart for the case. Using her first wish to get the settlement taken care of, Lisa is astonished at how quickly it all comes together in their favor. Taking the news home to Sam, she is surprised that he is not happier about the situation and while he is going to be a rich man, he continues to be down on himself and Lisa for the loss of his legs. Not knowing what to do next, Lisa continues to go about her daily routines, but now is starting to see that Steven seems to be there at every turn. 

When being asked to make any wish in the world by Steven, Lisa comes up with her next one, to let Sam have the use of his legs back. With this being granted, Lisa returns home to see that Sam is back on his feet, but the attitude towards her is still a negative one. Seeing that life will not go back to the way it was, Lisa turns to her new best friend Steven and wishes that she fell in love with him instead. The third wish has been made, but this one the Djinn cannot grant since Lisa’s love will have to fulfill it. As the minions from hell are ready to come back to the planet, they try and push the Djinn to fulfill it, but the wish will take time to complete. But time is a factor as a Hunter has been released on the planet to find and kill Lisa before the wish can be fulfilled and the evil Djinns are released in the human realm once again.

This was the first time in the movies that the Djinn knew who and where his wisher was right off the bat. Assuming Steven’s role in life, the Djinn is quick to move on Lisa who needed love in one way or another and he was more than willing to fill that void. Sam’s hatred for life was extremely sad but made for a great plot point in the story.  Lisa’s love seemed to be for sale, but when all was said and done, she would never give up on Sam, no matter what he did to push her away. The Djinn waiting to reclaim the planet had to be the most entertaining part of this movie as they continue to pester the Djinn who was able to fulfill the quota of three wishes, but not deliver on the third. I guess that love conquers all when all is said and done, so you must remember that when trying to battle an evil Djinn when he comes knocking. Stay Scared.
