Written by Scott Edwards It is hard to know what you are meant to do, especially when you are not willing to grow up. With so many options out there, a normal job is only a cover for many people, since there is much more that they would rather be doing. Trying to find out your purpose in this life is difficult, especially when you are not willing to let the voices talk to you and give you some sort of direction. Many people will never find out their true potential when all is said and done and if they are alright with that, more power to them, but for the believers in something greater, the strive to find this purpose never ends and a few lucky ones will find it before their days run out. Knowing that he has found the perfect balance between life and work, Aaron Boone is in a really good place and with his girlfriend Lori by his side, he could not ask for anything better. Wanting to get away for a while, Lori pitches the idea that the two just run away to a place where there are no phones so it can be just them, but Aaron has to work to pay the bills and while he wants to leave, this is not the right time. With the phone ringing off of the hook Aaron finally answers a call from his former psychologist Dr. Decker who needs to talk to him right away. Not knowing what the doctor is going to tell him, Aaron schedules a time and heads off to see his old shrink. Arriving in the doctor’s office to see Dr. Decker very shaken, Aaron is forced to re-live all of the problems he faced in the past, especially his happy place Midian, where he could be forgiven for all of his sins. Aaron does not understand what this has to do with anything, but Dr. Decker has put the pieces together about a rash of murders that have taken place over the past ten months and Aaron is the primary suspect. Giving his former patient twenty four hours to turn himself in, Dr. Decker gives Aaron a bottle of pills that should stop his nightmares and keep his voices at bay. Getting home and reflecting on all of the nightmares that have become reality, Aaron believes that he could be the killer and needs to find a way to escape to the only place he can, Midian. With new visions taking over his mind, Aaron finds himself in the hospital after being hit by a truck. Finding out that he was taking hallucinogens, Aaron finds out that his new journey in life is just getting started. Hearing another patient talking about Midian, Aaron finds out where it is and needs to get there to be with the other monsters that have found refuge there for generations. But when arriving at the old cemetery, he is not greeted with open arms, but a rather disturbing message that he has been lied to about who and what he is. Being forced out into the hands of the police that are looking to take him down, Aaron gets shot several times and is left for dead. But little does anybody know what Aaron has in store for the afterlife. Being killed as an innocent man has no effects on Aaron, but not saying goodbye to his love changes everything and he will do anything to keep Lori safe from the evil world that surrounds them. Anytime you pitch a movie to me that has monsters in it, I am always game to watch it. Even though these are not the beasts from your dreams, there are some pretty scary ones in this flick, but the living breed is much worse. Watching as Aaron goes from an outcast in Midian to being accepted is great, especially when Lori is doing everything in her power to be with him again. Showing the evil that will keep him alive outside of the cemetery is eye opening for everyone as the smell of blood is the only thing that can keep him going outside of love. Just a fun horror movie to watch and I really wish there was a second installment to see how Aaron could take over the community, but I guess that is just a dream. Stay Scared.
