Written by Scott Edwards Memories are something that nobody can take away from us and that is a good thing. While some people look back and use their memories as a learning experience, others use them to put a smile on their face. While memories are something that help make us into our own person, once you start to forget them, you may find yourself becoming less of yourself and more of a drone. Make sure to keep your mind sharp and keep living life, because when you can’t, you will have your memories to look back upon to keep you happy. Making their way out of the city for a little vacation, Michael and his girlfriend Jenny find themselves in a quaint little mountain town. Taking in the sights, Michael feels like he has been in this town before and is having Déjà Vu wherever he goes. Giving Jenny his credit card to do some shopping, Michael heads to the local watering hole and finds that the Bartender seems to be on the level with him, but there is someone else that is giving him the eye. Sitting and talking with the beautiful Olivia for a couple minutes, Michael decides that the couple should stay in the small town for their vacation. Arriving at the hotel and finding out that there is no room available, Michael gets to talk to the manager who is more than willing to give the repeat visitor a suite. Not ever being to this town before, Michael is a little miffed at why the manager knows him, but he has something else on his mind and lets it go. After getting settled into their room and turning in for the night, Michael hears screaming from down the hall and wonders what is going on. Not hearing the struggle, Jenny tries to get Michael to head back to bed, but he fears that there is something more sinister happening. Trying to alert the hotel staff to what is going on in the room, Michael makes a scene and breaks down the door to room 327 only to find that there is nobody inside the room. Fearing that their guest is having a breakdown, the hotel doctor gives him a look over, but it is not enough to keep Michael from hearing the screaming at night. Wanting to leave the hotel and head back home, the couple is given the news that the tunnel is shut down and they will be forced to stay for a few more days. Seeing that all of the other guests in the town have left, Michael finds it very strange that they are the only ones left. Not being able to get any answers from the locals, Michael heads out on his own fact-finding mission only to find that there is something very strange happening around the town, the town that he is not allowed to leave. I will admit that this movie was not high on my list of things to watch as the premise seemed to be kind of generic, but once it hit my screen, I could not look away. From the opening scene to the end, I wanted answers just like Michael and I got them all. While you can tell what world Michael is living in a little early, it does not disappoint with the payoff, so that kept me happy with the entire movie. I really enjoyed the people in the town and how their attitudes seemed to change towards Michael every time they saw him, even Olivia who wanted more from him than he was willing to give. With plenty of questions, people disappearing in a heartbeat, a missing girlfriend, an obsessed woman, and a town being invaded by creepy monks. You get a look at what clarity might look like if you have never had it before, and while it is disturbing, it is also very refreshing. Stay Scared.
