Written by ShaeWhat comes on tonight? Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Who's super excited about this? Me. And well, everyone else on the team who watched the show. And everyone out there reading this who watched and loved the show just as much as I did. Well, it's back for a second season, and with that I thought I'd recap the first season so we're all excited and ready for what's going to happen! You guys ready!? I'm so stoked it's a little unreal. I need more Marvel in my life. Doesn't everyone? Season one happened…hard. There were some good times; some bad times; and some really emotionally traumatizing times. I'm still not okay with what happened. We learn that Centipede is some evil organization that likes to experiment on people. Why? Because that's what evil organizations do. Mike Peterson just happens to me one of those guys that gets experimented on, and is branded a hero for saving a seemingly innocent doctor from an explosion. Skye, our lovable anarchist hacker, takes it upon herself to 'help' Mike in his new hero role. All is not what it seems of course. Agent Phil Coulson is back from the dead and he's got a new super cool team. A team he hand picked himself, right? Which is why when Skye gets brought onto the team, we're not at all surprised. Soon enough, things happen…Mike's son, Ace, is kidnapped and used against him. Mike is badly injured and made into Deathlok, Skye nearly dies, Coulson finds out Tahiti was a lie, and Fitz and Simmons have still not kissed. Seriously, no kissing and I'm really starting to feel like they need to…but Ward and May do some kissing. Then Ward is kissing Skye. It's all up in the air with who loves who. We thought Fitz and Simmons were a set thing, but then Agent Triplett comes along and ruins the whole thing. That's getting ahead of myself though. Along the way we also find out that Skye is an 0-8-4. Meaning, she's something. They don't really know what she is at all. Does that make her alien? Is she some kind of experiment? We don't know, yet. We also find out that Skye is looking to find out who her parents were. Convinced they're former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, she tries to hack into all the files she can get her hands on. This goes so well, until it doesn't. Eventually, she's brought in as a level 1 Agent, and Ward is the one to train her. Admittedly, I didn't like Skye at first…that is until they tried to kill her, then suddenly I absolutely loved her. Between Skye being shot, and Coulson finding out how he was brought back from the dead, the show had it's twists and turns. but what was so fantastic was how this show interacted with the recently released Marvel movies. With Thor: The Dark World, we got a guest appearance by the Lady Sif, and to see the aftermath of that. Not to mention the possibility for further things down the line. Perhaps the biggest plot arc, however, was that of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Of which, I have now watched a grand total of 16 times since my awesome friend John gave it to me last weekend…because I have. This movie changed everything we knew and loved. It destroyed the structure, tore down the home we had built, and ripped the security blanket that was S.H.I.E.L.D. right out from under us. Having the fall out of that movie appear in the show was spectacular and just proved how much Marvel ties all its ends together. In the end, we see a broken S.H.I.E.L.D. struggling to try and repair itself. The biggest betrayal, however, was finding out Ward, the handsome Agent we knew and loved, was a HYDRA member. The entire season, a friendship, a family, broken and filled with lies. Yet, that was not the end for our heroes as they rebounded as best they could. Agent Triplett became a part of the team, as a relative of a Howling Commando, and a sort of bandaid for the hurt caused. It seemed like things were finally looking up. But not all escaped unscathed… With the starting of the new season, we're left with so many more questions. It seems Skye's parents are still alive, HYDRA has caused far more damage than we'll ever know. And Agent Coulson may not be as unaffected by his resurrection as thought….thankfully, we don't have to wait too long to find out where the second season will take us, as soon it will begin.
