Shae's Geeky Gift Ideas: Wedding Dress Edition

There are some things a geeky bride must take absolutely serious. Or not serious, I'm not really an expert on anything. I just know, that when it comes to wedding dresses, most of us geek out. Maybe it’s a chance to be have on a gorgeous dress, and be the only one being the center of attention. All I know, is along my way and search for wedding dresses (which I totally have never done before now), I have found my favorite picks.

How're these nerdy? Well, the collection I found is by a designer named Alfred Angelo and he has a line of wedding dresses inspired by Disney Princesses. It does not get nerdier than that. Admittedly, I've spent many a night looking through the collection and geeking out over the new editions. Angelo has a dress to suit any princess and her preferences. This one here is my favorite. Inspired by Beauty and the Beast, this dress is made to resemble Belle's formal yellow dress. This movie holds a special place in my heart as I obsessed about this movie as a kid. Now as an adult, I can do the very same. Only, it's a bit different. Belle has a few different dresses, but this one is my all time favorite. This dress is made with draped satin and detailed with crystal beading in the corset style top. The sleeve looking things, or the shrug as the website calls it, is detachable, so if its not your thing, you can take it off. With hints of metallic and gold embroidering, this dress will look a million dollars. Yet, it will only set you back by $1,300 dollars. They also have pictures with real people, not just models (models are real people too, but you know what I mean) wearing the very dress you're looking at.

One of the newest creations is inspired by Disney's Tangled; known as Rapunzel, this dress is made with various materials, including organza, and even has pear, and rhinestones. This dress comes with a stunningly gorgeous cape, but can be purchased without it. If you're like my childhood friend Cass, than you'd be giddy with delight to know that this collection also comes with a Cinderella inspired dress. Each dress in the collection has at least one, if not more, alternate version, so people can get what they're looking for. As someone who loves Disney, I must admit I was beyond excited to find this collection and designer. Over the years, I've fallen in love with every single dress this man makes, and I’m always giddy when I see a new dress has been added. Angelo has made sure to cover nearly every Disney princess we all know and love. Of course, some are unaccounted for, but the collection seems to always be growing. So, while not all of the princesses are represented, yet, that’s not to say they never will be. I always have hope of more and more being added.

From this Snow White inspired dress, to Tiana and Jasmine, these dresses have been making a splash, and a bold statement. Earlier this week, it was declared, that an Elsa inspired dress from the infamous movie Frozen was going to be made. Now, I've never been excited about the prospects of a new wedding dress being released, before, but I have to admit I am really excited to see the finished product. If the wedding gowns aren't really your interest, or you're just looking for Bridesmaids dresses, fear not. Angelo has a collection of those too. Made to go along with his Disney Collection or as stand-alone pieces. The Disney Maidens collection are made with the same amount of thought and care just as the bridal gowns. Now, I've been a bridesmaid once before and even helped friends look, and I can say it's hard to find really pretty, elegant, dresses that every girl in a bridal party can agree upon. Thankfully, I've not found a single dress that this designer has made that I don't like. Even the bridesmaid dresses are stunningly beautiful. Just like the bridal gowns, the bridesmaids’ dresses are made with high quality fabrics and have some pretty beautiful embellishments.

In varying styles, a bride can accessories her compatriots in stunning dresses that come in many different colors. With fun names, such as Jet and Valentine and Plum, it’s not hard to find one that matches the theme and taste of each bride. The only complaint I have about the bridesmaids’ dresses is that they don’t have fun names, like the bridal gowns do. Calling them just styles and numbers is cute, but I suppose that’s the designer’s choice. These dresses are able to be mixed, matched, and arranged in any way the heart desires. Along in varying sizes, they offer a bride a lot of options. Of course, there is one other important dress to consider when thinking of weddings. The flower girl is often an important role at these special occasions. Having been one once, I can say it’s a pretty snazzy gig. Angelo has a line of flower girl dresses as well as one, Disney Blossoms to accompany his magical line. These dresses are mini versions of the bridal gowns that will tie the theme together, or maybe just make a little girl really be a princess for a day too. With such a joyous event in life, everyone should be made to feel utterly gorgeous.

Accessories are a bridal must for some. Thankfully, you can find them on this site too. From capes, to wraps, to cloaks, and sashes, there’s an accessory for every bride out there. Perhaps the most amazing thing I’ve found on this side are the line of Disney inspired Veils. After all, you’ve got the dress collections, why not go over the top and bring in veils. This particular veil, also named Repunzel, is Cathedral length, is duel layered, and embroidered. Coming in two different styles, a shorter one and this one, and is available in ivory or white. With a veil like this, any bride is bound to feel like a princess. With so much more to offer, I highly recommend checking out the rest of Angelo’s website. The only thing that has yet to be covered on this site are shoes. Then again, with a stunning gown shoes are just a side thought. Who am I kidding, I just recommend a pair of red converse and to enjoy the evening pain free. But that’s another blog for another day.
