Can a resolution be geeky? It totally can! Everything I do is on the level of geek and that is an awesome level. While it's a bit past New Year's, it's never too late for some Resolutions, or as I like to call them, my Shae-lutions. Is that a real thing? It is from now on. I feel like saying I'm going to get into shape is a generic resolution and a bold faced lie. I have made that every year for the past decade and manage to eat ice cream for dinner quite often. Should you be eating ice cream for dinner? If you like it, yes. I'm an adult and that means I eat what I want. But, I could be making healthier choice and that's my first Shae-solution. Eating better, maybe some exercises, possibly even lift some weights....mostly the eating better then. Maybe have ice cream for dinner one night and then have pudding the next. Or more salads, because green food is healthy for you. Or that's the lie the grocery store tells us. Brussel sprouts seriously weird me out. They're like tiny cabbages! Cabbage shouldn't ever be that tiny! It looks like it could be plotting something. For the real! My next Shae-lution is to learn to sew. Now, I know many of you are shocked to find out that I can't sew, but it's been on my list of things to do for a while and I feel this will be the year I learn to do it! Plus, it'll make Cosplay construction more fun! Mattie was kind enough to dust off, put together, and test a second machine we were given and I am so excited to learn how to use it and to start making my own things! The possibilities are endless. I mean who wouldn't want to wear a Shae Original?! Cosplaying is a massive love of my life and I can't wait to get started on the ones I have planned for you guys! Speaking of Cosplay, boy, do I ever have a list of up coming ones for you guys. I'm ambitious for someone who can't even work on a sewing machine...yet. Or course writing is always a resolution for me. However, I have some more original content I want to put up and expansions on some other pieces and a few new series planned. I also plan to play more video games! After all, I got a few for Christmas, what's the point in having them if I don't play them? 2015 needs to see some more nerdiness, it just does! Can it get more nerdy? Always.

Written by ShaeOn my many ventures into the public this weekend, I had the opportunity to stop by HotTopic and was lucky enough to find the there was a few new POP! figures to be found. One of them being a Supernatural must have for any fan, the infamous King of Hell, Crowley. And yes, I bought him. I also finally bought Sam too! Right now HotTopic is having an in house sale on their POPs of buy 3 get the 4th free! I might have bought my sister one, TinkerBell! It was really hard to choose which to buy, but this all lead me on an Internet search of new POP! figures. If you're a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy you may have seen their various figures. Well, if you're obsessed with Groot then you are going to squee when you find out that the long awaited Baby Groot POP! figure has been released to the masses. While I haven't found one in stores, I did notice they have it on ThinkGeek and it is on back order. There is hope! Amazon has them, in stock, and ready to ship! I may know this because I may have just ordered mine...because I need it. They also have the LootCrate exclusive Glowing Hand Groot, for a price. Funko has also announced more Guardian of the Galaxy figures, such as Ronan, Nebula, The Collector and even our beloved Thanos. Howard the Duck is already a POP! and he's kind of adorable. Ever expanding their universe of POP! figures, Funko is also releasing more Frozen characters. Rather, different versions of our favorite characters. They're doing the same with the X-Men, however you can pre-order those as a 6 figure set! Also, looking out for this month is the Cthulhu figure and a new Deadpool! (Don't tell Mattie about that one. It might just have to be a birthday gift). A new trend with POP! figures, I have noticed, is the massively large ones. I have two POP! figures that are relatively big, and I love them. Currently I have Armored Baymax and Smaug, but I've seen some others. Stay Puft comes in two versions, happy and mad, and Baymax has a non-armored version. These POP! figures are truly larger than life and I didn't think POPs could get any cuter. Turns out they can. I even saw an Attack on Titan large POP! today! It seems Funko is expanding their genres to include many a figure and fit in many a fan. Which is good news for Bronies, since they do not have a collection of POPs just yet. If you're not into the bigger POP! figures, that's okay. They have a few minis to choose from, as well as key chains. They also have a few key POP! figures with cars! So really, there is a POP! for everyone. I would say I have an addiction, but I can't quit loving POP! figures. With many variations of the figures we love and a collection spanning several nerd genres, it's not hard to see why POP! figures are so fun to collect. Written by ShaeLet's be honest here, none of you are shocked that this is even a blog. You're kind of like "I expected this". And that's fair. You should have. Listen, I'm an easily obsessive person. Or is it that I have an addictive personality? I'm not sure which. I just know that sometimes things excite me more than they should. Maybe that's the whole part of being a geek that can't be avoided. I should profess my undying love for Assassins' Creed II, and I love that game more than life, but Rogue has just been magical. Maybe it's the nearly year long break I took from gaming, or that I haven't played much past Brotherhood, but this game caught my attention in so many amazing ways. We still get that third person limited point of view we're used to. This time we're an unknown person working at Abstargo, but one of our memories triggers a virus that shuts down the building. The difference here is our main character starts as an Assassin but ends as a Templar. Yes, big spoiler, but it is called Rogue. While Black Flag had us as an un-accepted Assassin, Rogue takes it a step further. It seems Shay had had a change of heart once he discovers that the pieces of Eden are dangerous to go after. It just takes the entire city collapsing and thousands of people dying for him to question the Assassin Brotherhood. When Shay decides to steal an important artifact from the Mentor, he has been declared a traitor. It's a bit weird playing an Assassins' Creed game where we go from being an Assassin to a Templar. Maybe it's my hate for them still holding over, but I can't seem to wrap my head around that concept. Still, it's fun to play. Shay is set in his convictions of not hurting anymore innocent people. While I think Ezio would be disappointed in how some things have turned out, I think think it's a great game. Granted, I haven't remotely finished playing it. And I am dying to play Assassins' Creed Unity. But I love how these games tie into each other. It's really weird playing a game where my name is being yelled, but it's also kind of cool. Then again, having the TV yell orders at me is also disconcerting. Still, the Flare of Historical moments are fantastic. It's exciting! The change in game play is different. I like the various new weapons and how certain controls are different. Hunting is a bit hard for me, but I don't mind it. The sleep dart gets used more on poor animals than anything else. Their little cries break my heart otherwise! Killing people on the other hand, eh! They're all baddies anyway. I recommend this for any Assassins' fan. I also just love this game. A lot. So. You know, that's my Shae-opinion. It's different, but also nice to see how the events previously and the events yet to happen are all tied together. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I think I have finally learned my lesson when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on television after not giving Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a fair shake. It's a show that has quickly turned into one of my favorites, so when word came down that we were getting a special mini series by way of Agent Carter, I made sure to tune in this time around and you know what? I'm glad I did. Last night's two hour premiere was worth every minute of my time, so let's get down to recapping last night's super sized premiere of "Now is Not The End" and "Bridge and Tunnel". The Good: Let's be honest, this is a show for the fans through and through, filled to the brim with one awesome reference and pseudo cameo after another and I loved every single second of it. The Captain America pieces completely made sense since I think it's a wonderful stroke that Carter is still struggling heavily with the loss of Steve Rogers and it works on so many levels, since it sets up Peggy Carter to not only be a woman who has lost the love of her life, but she has also lost her sense of purpose in life. Sure, she works for the SSR still...but she has been reduced to a stereotype. A pretty dame who is good for filing and bringing the boys their coffee. It's a stark, and undoubtedly accurate contrast of the world after the war and it sets up her secret mission to clear Howard Stark's name quite well and that's when the stakes get interesting as we get back to some good old fashioned spy work and this is where Hayley Atwell shines in the role. She can become anyone and she can handle most situations, and that brings us to the other awesome character introduced last night, her sidekick if you will, Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis. It's cool to meet the man who sticks around in his own special way years later and he is just a joy on screen and it goes back to my earlier point...there are easter eggs abound in this show. But, either way, these two episodes left me hooked and I'm dying to know more about Leviathan and who is behind the theft of Stark's secret weapons. Solid start to the show for sure. The Bad: At times however, the "go fetch us some coffee or file these papers" routine gets a little old, and quite frankly considering how badass Agent Carter was during the war, you'd think she would have a little more respect from her peers. It feels a little forced at times, and while its necessary to the story, it could have been handled differently. That's honestly my only complaint. The Verdict: This show is a blast. Easter eggs abound to keep the fans happy, a new and exciting plot complete with evil villains. Not to mention we finally get to see Hayley Atwell show off her depth and range as an actor and do some serious ass kicking along the way. The show is clearly classic Marvel and I'll definitely be tuning in to see how this story ends. |
