Guess what comes back this week! Sadly, I'm not going to be able to watch it (I'm having surgery today =/), but I thought I could write about my three favorite characters on the show! Don't worry! You guys will get a recap from the awesome Mattie. All right! So, I'm going to do this in three categories! Favorite Angel, Human, and Demon. It's easier than ranting about all my favorite everyones. Now, before I say my favorite angel, please know, I do love Castiel. He's an amazingly complex, simple, character. In fact, I might have to write about the psychology behind Castiel's character at some point. While he is one of my favorite characters, of all time, he isn't my favorite angel. That goes to Gabriel. Now, when he's first introduced, Gabriel is kind of a face-weasel and we don't know who he is beyond the Trickster. He's a self serving little bundle of trouble. That's what first got me to fall in love with him. As we see him more, and more, we learn that he's not just a Trickster, he's not even Loki, but the archangel Gabriel. I fell in love with him, hook, line, and sinker, from day one. Also, Richard is just tiny! I'm pretty sure he's one of the shortest actors on the set of Supernatural. Well, him and Mark Shepherd. Anyway, while Gabriel is no longer on the show, Richard does still go to the conventions. He's funny, he's charming, and he's very much like his character. When Gabriel left the show, I was so sad! He was such a fun character to have on the show! Come on! Throwing the Winchester brothers into a TV universe, just to get his way? Awesome. Gabriel left his family behind because he couldn't handle the endless fighting. Unlike Castiel, he also has a love for humanity and all the amenities they have to offer. He's clever, funny, and above all, in it for him. Yet, in the end, Gabriel makes the ultimate sacrifice and faces his brother for the sake of humanity. There's more to his Trickster persona than meets the eye. Favorite human? More like favorite Winchester. Now, I live in a house divided. Mattie loves Dean, I, however, am a hardcore Sam fan. Here's why; I see myself in Sam. Sam tries so hard to do the right thing, to keep everything together, to always make the right choices. He's so troubled with what he is, his life choices, that he over compensates and attempts to always do what he feels is right. I see myself in Sam, so much, it's not even funny. No matter how hard Sam tries, things always go bad for him, despite how hard he tries to make them right. I love him! Some people say he's whiney, but I think the opposite. He's just trying to do the right thing. To make things easier for his brother. At the same time, Sam wants his own life. Desperately, he tries so hard to distance himself from the labels that have been placed on him by his father, himself, and what was expected of him. One thing, though. Sam is loyal, to a fault. There's nothing he won't do for Dean. Which is kinda how I feel about my family. I will say, this show in general has taught me a lot about family. Not all blood is family, and not all family is blood. And Sam? He cares for those he considers family. There have been a lot of great demons on this show. Many have come and gone and left massive imprints. But there is only one King of Hell. Crowley stormed into the show and stole it with his ever charming presence. Maybe it's because he's played by Mark Shepherd. Or maybe it's because he reminds me of Badger (Firefly is awesome!). Or maybe it's all of the above, plus that amazing accent. But Crowley is a very lovable demon. Ruby? Ruby I hated. Meg? I do like Meg. Azazel? No. Alastair? Hate him….but Crowley? I think I really like Crowley because you know what you're getting with him. Yes, he's a demon, but he's one of the most amazing characters. He makes deals, he sticks to them. He's not into the whole…double crossing thing. Well…okay, he is. But he's just so charming, I can't be mad at him. He has a system and it works. Crowley's also got this, snarky, banter, awesomeness about his character that I just love. Maybe it's because I'm 99% snark myself; I appreciate that in a character. Not to mention, he gave nicknames to Sam and Dean, who will forever be, Moose and Squirrel. There you have it. My top three favorite characters of Supernatural. Maybe I'll do my top hated characters next. Nothing wrong with a little controversy.
