Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Wow guys! Sorry for the late review, last week was the mad dash to get projects done and this week is finals! Then we're on break….which speaking of, Supernatural just did their midseason finale, and now we don't get anything until January 14. How sad is that? Very. Very, very sad. Like this last episode. Sometimes, a show comes along and violently rips your heart out before chewing it up, spitting it out, and walking away. This was one of those episodes of one of those shows and there was little to nothing that could be done about it, other than turn it off, which would be dumb because it's Supernatural. But with this episode, I was left almost in tears. Now, there are wonderful things about the internet, and there are terrible things about the internet. Tumblr, for instance, actually ruined a part of this episode for me. I'd missed the initial showing due to class projects and well….I knew what was coming before it happened. So, Sam and Dean are off to investigate strange angel on angel murders. Cas shows up, Dean's not cool with it, Sam doesn't care, and Ezekiel is being oddly hateful towards working near, with, and/or around Castiel. What's with that? I mean, Cas did vouch for the guy at the beginning of the season, right? So why the Cas hate? Well, sometimes, angels are just jerks to other angels…for no reason…except there is a reason. I knew from the start that we shouldn't trust Ezekiel. And I. Was. Right. Back to that in a moment! Anyway! angel on angel hate? Why? Well, there are two factions; Bartholomew and Malachi. Both want to be the new ruler of heaven, so both are fighting over power….despite not being able to get back into heaven. Doesn't matter, because this is a war! And people must die! Pick a side! Well, in the midst of this picking a side thing, Cas ends up praying to an angel in hopes of finding out answers about this secret/not-secret angel war. Enter, Muriel….but don't get too attached to her because Malachi kills her after he kidnaps her and Castiel. It's okay though because Cas steals one of Malachi's henchmen Grace, and is now an angel…again….which is good? But then, in the midst of all the chaos, Metatron shows up to talk to Ezekiel…who isn't Ezekiel. Turns out, Zeke died in the fall. But, wait--who's in Sam then!? Galadriel…an angel that was in angel prison until all angels fell from heaven. He's not a bad guy, or a good guy, just a guy who wants to be as good as Ezekiel had been. Metatron makes him an offer; be his right hand and help rule new heaven with a select number of angels. Not a bad deal! But, Galadriel has to do a favor for him….just some names off a list, if you know what I mean. First on the list? Kevin. Dean won't let that happen though, right? After a conversation with Castiel, Dean finds out that the angel he let into his brother, isn't the angel he said he was. With Kevin's help, Dean sets up some sigils and plans to tell Sam the truth. But, Galadriel heard him and Kevin plan this, so he pretends to be Sam, punches Dean, then telekinetically holds him to a pillar while he kills Kevin. Yes. Kevin dies. And that was the spoiler I knew going into the show. It was heart breaking! Now, Sam/Galadriel is off with Metatron, Kevin's dead, Dean doesn't know what to do, and Cas is back to being an angel….and we have to wait until January to find out how they save Sam! Gah! It's a great midseason finale, and a horrible sad, cliff hanger-y one too!
