'Stan Against Evil' Recap: 'Hex Marks the Tot'

Getting a little bit of girl time in, Denise and Evie are enjoying their breakfast when the Sheriff notices a cute little baby and his mother. Trying to find out if Denise will ever want kids one day, she finds out that Stan’s little girl is more into the macabre and only has eyes for the grounds keeper at the local cemetery. Really only having eyes for Kevin, Evie tries to get her young friend to expand her outlook, but seeing that it is getting her nowhere, she decides to do the next best thing, help Denise get a job as a babysitter.

Continuing to try and figure out how to use the demon eyes to go back in time to save his wife’s life, Stan gets his daily interruption from Evie who is pleased with herself for helping to get Denise out of the house. But Stan is not too happy about this change in events, as he will now be forced to do the mundane task of getting ice for his warm lemon water on his own. Being left alone in the house might not be all bad however, as everyone is starting to find out as the affection that Denise is giving the baby will keep them from harm’s way, or so they believe until they discover what young Aiden Braden really is.

Getting the general breakdown of what young Aiden Braden likes and needs to be properly taken care of, Denise seems to have forged a quick bond with the child. Going out for a walk, she runs into Kevin who sees something evil in the eyes of the baby and while trying to warn the woman that he likes, she shuts him down right there. Knowing that the baby is different from others, she has no idea what Aiden Braden is capable of when push comes to shove. 

After being beaten within an inch of his life, Kevin is able to give the description of his attacker to Evie and Stan and the two are shocked at seeing a baby’s face on the screen. Thinking that Kevin is out of his mind when it comes to trying to win Denise’s affection back from the child and that he did this to himself, they try to explain the situation to Denise, but she has a story to tell as well. After telling the dynamic duo about what Aiden Braden is really like and showing off her new scares from the child, something finally clicks for Evie and she pulls out the demon book to see what she can find. Locating a demon type that has been known to be portrayed as a baby, the group find out that Kevin was not lying and there is a demon baby out there trying to insure he will not be deprived of his food by someone else looking to take Denise’s affection away from him.

Wow, is all I can say about this episode, as we get our long-awaited demon baby that cannot be stopped. I would feel bad if a baby was able to beat the crap out of anyone, I mean other than emotionally, because they are small bundles of joy, but it is obvious that when there is a demon baby, you can throw all the cards out the window. I love that this was a Denise episode, I was starting to wonder when we would get one this season. Not knowing if she wants a baby or not, she does have plenty of feelings for Kevin and I hope to see this little relationship moving forward as the series continues. Stan is still trying to find out what he needs to do to make the demon eyes work and I am sure that there will be a payoff for this at some point. Evie is always on top of her game and knowing that the demon baby is not what it appears to be, she makes the right call and is able to disarm the baby’s powers. Well, there’s only two episodes left in this season and still so much to get to, I just hope it gets all tied up by the last one. Stay Scared.
