Written by Scott Edwards There are things that happen in your life that will change it drastically, but if you are able to keep your sanity throughout, you will be okay. Not wanting to change who you are is the key thing to remember when something traumatic happens to you and even when you think that you cannot go on afterwards, you can power through it. There are so many ways to get help when it comes to coping with a difficult situation and more medications have become available to make it tolerable. Time should heal all wounds, but if it does not, there are more options out there that can keep you moving forward, rather than looking back. Evie and David Maddox have decided to make the move that will change their lives. Purchasing a vineyard, David is ready to make his dreams come true and with his wife by his side, nothing can stop them. Having a party thrown for them by town elder Victor Napoli, the two are feeling welcomed in the small community, but when they meet the local wine taster, Helena, their lives start to change drastically. After talking with Evie for a couple minutes, Helena enters the home and sees something bad coming from the Maddox's unborn baby and the couple needs to leave before it is too late. Dying on the floor, Helena delivers her message and even though David has come to terms with what has happened, Evie thinks that there is something more to the story. Having visions around the house, Evie believes that something bad has happened there before the couple moved in and starts to ask around town to find out what it was. But her investigation is coming up empty when it comes to something sinister, and her visions start to get worse. Talking with her doctor, Evie is directed to take medication to keep these thoughts at bay, but she is with child and does not want to do anything to harm it while she is pregnant. Joining a yoga class for expecting mothers, Evie quickly forms a bond with Sadie who seems more normal than the rest of the residents attending. When Sadie hears that Evie might start taking pills to keep her mind straight, she gets upset and wants something to keep her friend from going down that road. As the visions continue to get worse for Evie, David has to put his foot down. Thinking that she does not like the house and is still suffering from the accident she was in years ago that killed the other driver’s child, he forces her to take the pills. Sitting at home like a zombie, Evie knows that she still needs to leave the house, as there is something evil in it with her. As she continues to research the history of the house and checks out the ruins of an old house in the back yard, she comes across the fact that their neighbor, Victor Napoli’s family once owned the land. Questioning Victor about what had happened there before she and her husband moved in, Evie finds out that his grandmother had the same strange feelings in the house and even though nothing bad happened, she took all of the steps to keep anyone from moving in. Knowing that it is not just her, Evie leaves the vineyard and urges her husband to follow, but when she takes the only car, Evie is forced to return home to pick him up, but when she enters the house once more, all hell breaks loose. Not a bad movie at all, I actually enjoyed the interactions between Evie and Sadie quite a bit. The two expecting mothers seemed to hit it off famously and should be lifelong friends, or at least until their babies are born. I like how the story moved and when it came to the flashbacks about what happened in the house, wow, I don’t think I would have liked to live in there either. I was a little disappointed with David and how he stopped being supportive for his wife in her time of need, but it is difficult to imagine what anyone would do when put into these somewhat extreme circumstances. With a couple good twists and turns, everything is wrapped up with a little bow as the movie finishes. I might want to clear my schedule and see what this house has in store for me at some point. Stay Scared.
