Written by Scott 'Sharky' EdwardsIt can be amazing to see what people are willing to do to get their thrills, from jumping off of a building in the middle of the city, to swimming with sharks. But for me, just avoiding getting into an accident to and from work is the only thrill I need anymore. While these might seem somewhat crazy for some people, others like to live on the edge to get that rush of adrenaline that makes them feel alive. To each their own I guess and while I have done some things in my past that might have been silly in my opinion, you won’t find me doing it again, since it never really gives you the same rush as the first time. Trying to get together some footage of them doing some extreme cage diving to get considered for a reality television show, brothers Jeff, Josh and girlfriend Megan are in for the ride of their lives. While visiting their good friend Greg down in Australia and just having a good time parting and drinking, Jeff continues to video the entire time, showing that they are just as outgoing as the next contestant. With a tearful goodbye to Greg, the three make their way out to the port and arrive on their new ship that will either make them stars or a failure at life. Heading out to sea, the group listens to the captain give his safety instructions, but have little idea that they will actually need them. Luring in the sharks, the cage is the perfect place to get an up close and personal shot for their video and the group dives in. While the sharks are loving the food in the water, they are also becoming very aggressive towards the cage and the captain takes note. Pulling the cage out of the water, the boat is capsized by a rogue wave sending everyone out in to the water. Being able to escape the cage, Jeff, Jose and Megan find themselves pretty much alone in the water, but there is a small problem as well, the sharks that were being lured in are sticking around for another snack. Watching as random survivors of the boat wreck float about for a time before they are devoured by the hungry sharks, the three need to come up with a plan of survival. Being able to locate some life preservers, they float around the ramped-up waters discussing what their fate will be and while trying to flag down passing boats is not working, they are able to find a life raft and some flares that may help to get them saved. While they have a sense of security in the raft, tensions start to run high with in the small group and one mistake with a flare gun helps to determine who will live and die on this shark infested voyage. It has been a while since I have seen the original Open Water movie, but from what I remember about it, it was a couple lost at sea and only one hungry shark doing the tormenting. In this one, there are several sharks looking for a meal, and happily for the predators, they found it. With plenty of warnings about what to do in the water if there are sharks around, the group decides to ignore them, by reason of fearing for their lives, but it does not make for a happy ending when you do nothing but make noise so the sharks know exactly where you are. With some sharks, a ship wreck, a sense of hope, a flare, plenty of shark attacks and a love triangle that comes to light at the exact wrong time, this movie will make you think twice about diving with the sharks, especially if you don’t have a boat that can take a random rogue wave attack. Stay Scared.
