Written by Scott Edwards Trying to do something that nobody else has ever been able to do before should never detour your work. Things might not have been done for a reason, but that was someone else’s decision to step away, giving you the grand opportunity to give it your own shot, your own way. Pushing the limits of not only your team, but yourself is the best way to prove to the world what you are made of and even if you fail, you still gave it your all. There is no shame in coming up short on anything, as long as you can learn from your mistakes, but if you refuse to do that, well, you might find yourself becoming stagnant and you’ll likely lose your drive. After losing his wife and daughter to The Night Stalker, Henry is in shambles, but it is not enough to keep him from doing his job. Being a ghost hunter is in Henry’s blood and with a little push in the right direction from his teammate Neal, he is ready to get back into it. But this time the ghost hunt is more personal than it has ever been before as Henry has something special up his sleeve that might be a game changer. With the rest of his team in tow, Neal, Jessica, Devon and a reporter, Amy, everyone is ready to see what Henry’s new invention can do and see if he will be able to free his family from the house, they died in. With a new ghost capturing technology being used in the house, Henry is positive that the other great minds on his team have come through. Being able to capture a spirit and turn it into ectoplasm is just the start however since they are also armed with a new computer program designed by Jessica, that can break down just who the ghost actually was in life. Being able to identify a captured ghost is something that nobody has ever been able to do, and this will put Henry on the map in the ghost hunting world, along with the scientific fields. But that is not the only thing weighing on his mind this night, as he is more caught up with being able to free the spirits of his wife and daughter who met their untimely demise inside the walls of the house. Being able to pick up a residual haunt with the machine, the group is ready to take their hunt to the next level and is able to mobilize the ghost catcher to move down from the attic to the lower floors. Being a skeptic, Amy is given the ghost finding glasses and sees her fair share of ghosts being cleaned up, but it comes at a price, since whenever the machine is turned on, she is transported into the house’s past and sees first-hand what happened to the victims. Wanting to be quiet about this, she cannot when she finally sees what the ghosts of the house are trying to show her and when she finds out who the actual Night Stalker killer is, she is faced with a decision to make on who, if anyone she is able to trust in the haunted house that is looking for blood. Here we have a movie that features a haunted house that has more secrets surrounding it than a normal one, especially when it comes to the group that is investigating it. With his eye on the prize, Henry wants nothing more than to take his research to the next level and will stop at nothing to prove that there really is an afterlife. I really liked how the group worked together and I wish that Amy had come clean earlier when she saw her first ghost to become a believer, but I guess skeptics are always hesitant. I must admit that running the ectoplasm through a computer program to crack the code of life after death was a little bit of a stretch for me, but why not, it gave the movie another spooky element and some screams from beyond. With a serial killer’s house being investigated, a disheveled husband and father, a ghost hunting team on the verge of greatness, some creepy flashbacks and a killer who will stop at nothing, it makes you wonder how far someone will go to prove that they are right, even when the proof is in the pudding… or ectoplasm. Stay Scared.
