Written by Scott Edwards On the bottom of the ocean, the Navy has contracted out the building of a secret missile silo to Van Gelder. As Van Gelder is a master of the deep, he is the only one that the Navy entrusts with such a task and even though he is running months behind on the project, he is still the man for the job. Staying in charge of the situation, he is looking for results at this point, no matter what the consequences are and will put his teams lives on the line if need be. Running into a digging problem as a cavern is discovered at the silo sight, Van Gelder pushes the team to complete the job at hand and listening to the concerns of his staff only enrages him and prompts him to double down on completing his task. When an explosive is set up to open up the underwater cave, the group finds out that it is much more extensive than they first thought and decide to investigate before continuing with their digging. When their remote surveyor unexpectedly detaches and is lost, two of the crew members decide to go and retrieve it before receiving the speech again about how much it is worth. When the enter the cavern, a new contact is found on their sonar that is moving at a faster pace than anything man made. By the time they try to report back into the base, it is too late and they too are lost to the depths of the ocean. Back at the temporary base, Collins and Burciaga are trying to make contact with their friends, but find that they are under attack as well. Being knocked onto a ridge at the edge of the underwater cliff, they call in for help to the main base. Without knowing what any of them are up against, the creature in the waters around them seems to be on a tear and is looking for anything to eat. Figuring out it hunts by light, the group tries to go dark, but that only works for a short time as the creature they just released from the underwater cavern is smarter than they could ever give it credit for. If you are a fan of the old sea voyage tales, this is a movie that you have to check out. With very little of the ocean being explored, it would be very easy to have creatures that we have never seen still living in the depths. Being made in the eighties, this movie does not only focus on the creature hunting down everybody, you have a love story, and a challenge of power and a great character piece on the one man who was trained for disaster, losing his marbles. I will admit that this was not one of the top movies that popped up on my viewing queue, but am very happy that it did to help remind me that not every movie has to deal in just blood and guts, but what people actually have to deal with when put in extreme situations. Written by Scott Edwards Going to work with my parents was one of the days I was always looking forward to as a child. Getting to see them in action was a dream come true, with the exception of them both working in schools, come to think about it, I never really had a day off from school when mine was off. Battling off my want to yell at them for making me go to school for every day off that I ever had growing up, I will admit, it was a great time watching what they did and it helped inspire a path for my own future…away from schools. Samantha Marsh has arrived back home, just in time for her father’s retirement party. Being a coal miner for thirty years, George is finally ready to hang up his hat and move on to other opportunities. As the party rolls into full swing, Sam is interviewing all of the miners that her father has worked with over the years, only to find out how much they love him and are hating to see him go. As the party starts to wind down, Samantha is dared to come and work in the mine for one day, as she has never been to her father’s work before. She accepts the challenge and wakes up before dawn to meet with George and head to the mine. As she enters the old coal mine, she takes notice of all of the safety features it has around it and starts to wonder how many more men do not get killed while doing this dangerous job. With her tour of the mine completed, she starts to shovel coal, just like her father has done for many years, until an unknown rumble surrounds the mine and a cave-in occurs. As the miners try to figure out what is happening, they pull everyone they can find together and make a call topside to report the disaster. They are told that it will be seventy-two hours before help can arrive and they need to take shelter in their fallout shelter that is there for this exact situation. As the miners sit and wait, they start to hear screaming coming from within the mine. Thinking they have missed someone in their search, they head out again, only to find that they may not be alone down here in the darkness. I liked what this movie brought to the screen with the fear of being locked in with no escape, as that is what the description said about it, but watching what it did to each of the characters was just fantastic. As each trapped member of the mining group tries to come up with their own plans of survival, how they are able to come together to make sure everyone is safe shows how much they really care for each other. With the addition of Samantha, a coal miner’s daughter being thrown into the mix, watching and listening to what is lurking the depths of the mine is what really leaves you wondering if she is just seeing and hearing things as she has never been in a mine before, of if there is actually something down there that is causing everything to go wrong. Doing the right thing yet causing someone else pain in some sort of way always leaves us wishing it could have been done another way. But when protecting yourself or the safety of others, there is always something that needs to be done, no matter the outcome for the person doing the wrong thing. Detective Lucas McCarthy is challenged with the remorse of sending a fellow man to his death. Although Lucas has captured Max Jenke, a murderer who has no remorse in his acts, Lucas is starting to have dreams of the madman coming after him. Without knowing what this means, Lucas is put on leave until the blood crazed Jenke is put to death in the electric chair. Watching as his arch nemeses is electrocuted, Jenke refuses to go down without a fight and with the last breath in his body, threatens the Detective and his family. Thinking little of the act, Lucas returns home, a new man and ready to start work once again since he has been able to see Jenke die in front of his very eyes. Not knowing that there could be life after death, Lucas enjoys his quiet time with his family and tries to return to his normal day to day life style. But Jenke has not yet left the earth, and is now finding a safe haven in Lucas’ life, along with his family’s life. As strange sounds start coming from the furnace in the basement, Jenke is back and looking to take revenge on the man that helped take his life. Toying with Lucas every night in his dreams, along with visions during the day, Jenke knows that killing the detective will not fulfill his goal of punishment and turns to Lucas’ family. Now Lucas will have to find a way to defend himself and his family, but how will he be able to kill someone that is already dead? A fun movie to say the least as it has all of the flare of an 80s horror movie. Without letting the bad guy be killed off at any cost, this is one of the golden storylines that the era brought forth. I fell in love with how the story persisted, since a touch of Nightmare on Elm Street came into play, but the movie really didn’t steal anything from that iconic horror film outside of some nasty dream sequences. With a little bit of gore, splatter and a daughter that steals the show, it is a good movie to watch to just get away from the norm. Stay Scared. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...The more time I’ve had to think about the series premiere of AMC’s new show NOS4A2, the more excited I find myself to watch this series. Because in an era where gimmicks, and hooks and formula permeate the television landscape, this is a show that outright defies those conventions and works hard to be something special and something unique and it really is succeeding at those particular tasks. Because I simply don’t know what to expect from this story going forward, outside of the fact that it is going to be a powerful character study and that something evil is brewing and I’m absolutely fine with that, since this series features a sense of awe and wonder that you so rarely find on the small screen these days and what truly has me impressed when it comes to this show today, is the sheer fact that it found a way to amplify those elements over the course of last night’s episode. Because ‘The Graveyard of What Might Be’ not only featured those all-important intimate moments with our characters, it also took the time to challenge them in philosophical fashion, making for one brilliant hour of television and well, the best place to start with today’s recap is to dive into those character driven scenes, because what unfolded when it comes to all of that was powerful and heartbreaking to say the least. For this tale saw the McQueen family rattled over Chris’ decision to move in with Tiffany and rather than let this be the status quo, or potentially lose her dad, Vic made every effort to be near him and around him, going so far as to move in with dear old dad and Tiffany in the hopes of mending family wounds, with limited success, thanks to her mom. For Linda simply wasn’t good with her daughter’s new living situation and that led to an incredibly uncomfortable moment, wherein a grand family fight happened on Tiffany’s lawn and well, the rawness of this was simply stunning to say the least, because you just don’t see realistic domestic disputes on television and seeing Vic’s family in tatters and oddly enough, bearing witness to her mother’s lack of faith in her daughter throughout the episode definitely gave me pause because it made Vic even more relatable. After all, who was ever good with their parents fighting when we were growing up? And while I had a lot of support from my parents on what I wanted to do when I got out of high school, I know plenty of friends who were devastated by a lack of parental support in regard to their life goals and while all of this was fascinating in its own right, I’m sure some folks that watched this, were left wondering how any of this was philosophical and related to horror and well, therein lies this episode’s brilliance. Because, in essence, this particular tale was trying to remind us that the real horror in our lives is the unknown and the world we venture into on a daily basis. After all, we haven’t a clue where either element is going to take us in our travels, and sometimes we learn along the way that our life plans don’t quite work out the way we want them to when unique opportunities and situations present themselves and that’s scary when all is said and done. For, we like comfort, we like plans, and to not see things come together as we envisioned leaves us unsettled and for proof, look no further than Vic’s unexpected trip to Iowa wherein a meeting with Maggie revealed all kinds of answers about her abilities and her destiny for that matter as well and learning that she could conjure the shorter way, and was in essence born to find lost things, left Vic rattled and afraid and unsure of how to proceed next in life and that’s a brilliant place to leave her in this story, because now…she has to earn whatever path she chooses. Yet, while all of that was supremely high concept and philosophical in nature, the story didn’t forget the fact that this tale’s primary focus is battling a twisted vampire that eats children’s souls, allowing for us to spend a fair chunk of time in this episode learning a little more about Charlie Manx and what we discovered was chilling to say the least. For this segment of the story focused heavily on how Charlie operates and how he seduces other men to help him in his quest for souls and it turns out, that he expects the adults that aid him to be as broken as the children he chooses to feed upon since Bing Partridge’s curiosity and overall lack of direction in life made him Charlie’s target and it was quite the unsettling experience to see Mister Manx prey upon Bing’s naivety and feed him lie after lie to get what he seeks and that makes Charlie supremely dangerous when all is said and done. Because he will clearly say and do whatever it takes to feed and well, the collision course that he and Vic are currently on is only inching closer since Charlie did swing by Haverfield initially, to learn more about the shorter way, and the person that knows how to unlock it… When all is said and done however, wow, what an episode. It cannot be easy to manage scares and genuine drama over the course of an hour, but this show does it seamlessly and what really impressed me about this particular tale, is the sheer fact that the overall plot was further advanced in subtle and smooth fashion. Plus, I’m a huge fan of how the tension is slowly building in this story, and at this point, the only unresolved matter when it comes to this tale is Vic’s destiny and what exactly it will take to for her to embrace it so she can save the world from Charlie’s special brand of evil. But before we get to that point, I’ll continue to bask in the wonder of this particular tale. For once again, this series found a way to terrify us, move us and unsettle us over the course of a matter of minutes, and that really does make this show incredibly special, and I am definitely enjoying everything it has to offer. Until next time. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...When it comes to Fear the Walking Dead and really, The Walking Dead universe as a whole, I often see a consistent complaint on social media in that, both shows tend to take too long to get where they need to go. It’s a grievance that quite frankly, I disagree with, because I firmly believe that a story should take as long as necessary in order to properly tell its tale, but I understand where others are coming from. After all, this is horror, and it’s fun when the story and the scares move at a breakneck pace and well, it would seem that showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have seen this feedback, and are looking to shake things up a little bit when it comes to the pacing of Fear, since ‘The Hurt That Will Happen’, ended up being a story that was filled to the brim with fast moving plot lines and intense moments and well, there’s so much to cover here that it’s difficult to find a starting point, so perhaps it’s best we begin with a tense reunion that last week’s season premiere teased. Because this particular story wasted no time in bringing Victor Strand and Daniel Salazar face to face once again and in all honesty, I expected this to be a violent and ugly reunion. For the last time these two men interacted in Mexico, Daniel seemed ready to end Strand’s life for his machinations and betrayals but instead, this ended up being quite the pleasant surprise. For Daniel actually welcomed Victor into his massive compound, and he even took the time to hear Strand’s harrowing story and learn of what he’s lost, in the hopes of seeing if by chance that Victor had changed his lying ways. But the distrust was strong here and Strand’s pleas and candor were outright ignored by Daniel and with good reason. After all, why would Mister Salazar have any reason to trust a man who has delivered nothing but deception at every single turn. But Victor wasn’t ready to give up just yet and took the time to prove to Daniel once and for all, that he was indeed telling the truth. If anything, all of this made for quite the harrowing storyline, since we so rarely see Victor rattled and desperate, but that’s precisely what he was in this segment of the story, because he truly wanted to get his hands on that plane and save his friends and it was just incredible to see how much he’s grown and how dedicated he is to doing the right thing these days since he took the time to explore every last radio frequency in order to get in touch with anyone from his party. Yet what was equally amazing about this sequence, is that Daniel softened his stance just a little bit, even going so far as to acknowledge Strand’s plight, and offer him some help in contacting an ailing Luciana back at the truck stop. But, despite proving to Daniel that he was indeed telling the truth and that help was necessary at this point, Daniel turned his back on Strand. For he firmly believed that trouble and sorrow follows Victor everywhere he goes and for now, he will need to find other means in helping his friends. Yet, while an hour of that would have been enough to carry this episode on its own, there was so much more waiting for us, since this tale took the time to address one of the biggest mysteries that the series premiere introduced, in regard to the radiation signs popping up all over the area. Because once again, Morgan and Alicia came face to face with them as they started their search for Al, and the discovery of a warm engine near the latest ‘radioactive roadblock’ allowed for them to finally find out what was going on, by way of an unexpected introduction to a survivor named Grace. As it turns out, Grace used to work at a nuclear power plant a few miles up the road and she and her team did everything they could to survive and keep the plant running as the world collapsed around them. But fear, and fatigue and the harsh reality that the apocalypse was upon them allowed for a lapse in their work, and eventually, the reactor core went into meltdown, bringing forth a new and terrifying threat to the countryside, irradiated walkers. Which meant that anyone who came in physical contact with these dangerous corpses needed to be decontaminated, as was the case with Morgan after his first encounter with this new threat and well, when presented with the sheer danger of this, Morgan felt it best to help out Grace in her quest to bring down as many of these radioactive monsters as possible, a decision that didn’t sit well with Alicia, since she believed they needed to make the search for Al a priority over anything else. But, Morgan’s level headedness and a distress call from June and John kept Alicia’s mind in a calmer place for the time being and shortly after they arrived to help them out, they all came to discover the importance of Grace’s mission. For half of the specific walkers she was searching for found their way to a summer camp, the same one that the kids we met last week once called home, and while the good people of this camp made a successful stand against this tiny herd, burning the dead released the radiation into the air in the camp, ending more lives and bringing forth more dead and well, seeing this end result, and learning of Grace’s dedication to correcting what she believed was a mistake she made, gave Alicia pause. Because she truly felt that all she was good for these days, was fighting and being a blunt instrument in the field, and that she had failed Morgan and the group along the way and that realization allowed for the show to slow things down for a moment and bring its trademark commentary and humanity back into play. For Morgan was able to share his own battles with depression and trauma with Alicia in honest fashion, allowing for her to understand to embrace what she has now, rather than be haunted by the past and she also came to realize that despite her best efforts to snuff the pain in her heart, more would come down the line, because that is life, whether the end of the world is upon us or not and seeing Morgan be a father figure for a change, and seeing Alicia listen to his wisdom allowed for some genuine beauty to come forth in this tale, and it was equally as touching to learn about the sacrifice that Grace is making since she is slowly succumbing to radiation poisoning as well. Yet, while that seems like a happy-ish ending in its own right, there is still a grave threat surrounding the group, and much of that was explored by way of Luciana’s journey in this tale, which, at first glance one would think isn’t worth discussing since she was back at the truck stop healing from a nasty wound, where nothing of consequence should have happened outside of that radio conversation with Strand. But, as it turns out, Luciana had plenty to do in this tale, despite her injuries. Because mid-way through her talk with Strand, the radio signal straight up died, and it seemed as though the wind and the dead played a part in that and while her injuries didn’t allow for her to investigate such matters further, her friends had a chance to look around, and well, seeing walker corpses splayed out atop a billboard, along with more hanging heads, means that the persons or persons who created fleshy roadblocks felt the need to send a message to the group, and well, I think it is safe to say at this point that whatever they have to say isn’t friendly in the slightest, since all of this felt like quite the warning. So, yeah, if that seems like a lot of plot for a single episode, you’d be one hundred percent right. Because this episode packed it in, and well, I loved every single second of it. For this one just moved at a breakneck pace, and I loved how everything you could ask for when it comes to this series was present here. Because it featured character growth, and conflict and philosophical concepts that stay in line with what the show is trying to accomplish and well, I love the fact that this one took the time to answer what was up with the radiation signage. Because by getting that plot thread out of the way, we can now focus our attention to the dead body artist roaming the countryside, and the fact that Grace is avoiding that art as well speaks volumes to the creepy nature of it all, and considering how this episode went, I have high hopes that we are going to find out who or whom is behind this, sooner rather than later since its clear now that Fear the Walking Dead is racing toward something important in season five, and I cannot wait to see what is waiting for us in the weeks to come. Until next time. Written by Scott Edwards Being in a place where you should have never been in the first place is easy to look back on, but when you are there, do you know it for sure. With different cultures and beliefs all over the place, you may find that your favorite restaurant may be backing someone or something that you do not believe in. While many people will turn a blind eye to this, since they have been going there for years, or just don’t care, there are people that will stop going out of principal. There may not be a correct way to view this, but people are going to do what they are going to do regardless of what is being directed towards them. It may be better to examine some of these beliefs before judging them as there is always more than one side to every belief. Being on the road from Washington to Oregon has not been an easy trip for the Ain’t Rights as they are out of money and have to syphon gas from parked cars. With the promise of a show and an interview from Tad who works on a college radio station to get their name out there, they think that things are starting to look up. But when Tad comes clean about making a mistake and losing the gig, the group plays in a bowling alley and leaves with only a couple dollars in their pockets. Feeling bad about the break, Tad is able to get the band a better gig at his brother’s favorite bar, but the group will have to play in front of Skinheads. With promise of money, the group has to jump at the opportunity since they need money to eat and get back home. The bar is out in the back woods with only one road leading in and when seeing the patrons outside, the group comes up with a plan to start bashing Nazi’s, but this may not be the place. As the Neo-Nazi’s show their hatred towards the band, the group sees how different things can really be. When their set ends, Gabe is ready in the hallway to get them loaded out, but when Samantha forgets her cellphone in the room, everything starts to change. When picking up the phone and seeing a girl lying dead on the floor, the group is forced back into the room, but their trouble does not start until the owner of the club makes it down. When Darcy is informed of the situation, he starts to formulate a plan of his own on how to get the group out of his club and make them disappear. Knowing that the cops are on their way down since a call was placed to them about a stabbing, the leader is able to get a couple of his boys to do it to themselves to keep the cops from checking out the building. While talking to the barricaded band in his building, Darcy offers the promise that everything will be ok, but everything is not as they quickly find out. With members of the band being injured on a minor attack, the Ain’t Rights know that they will be killed for what they have seen and have to get out before time runs out. This is a tough movie to review since there is so much going on after the band is able to lock themselves in their room. With the terror that is waiting for them on the other side of the door, the group has no idea how far Darcy and his men will go to make them disappear. I really liked the discussions that the band have about how to survive and the addition of Amber to the group is a savior for them since she knows all about the building and who they are dealing with. I also liked how Darcy was looking into the future and making plans of what to do next as his club will surely be riddled with bullet holes and fire damage, it really seemed to catch me the right way. A nice and dark film that will keep you guessing if the band is doing the right thing by staying hidden or if they should listen to the man on the other side of the door and possibly make it out alive, on his word of course. Written by Scott Edwards A week out from the Christmas Holiday, everyone is out trying to find those last-minute gifts. It does not matter if you think you were finished months ago, there is always one more thing you need to stop and pick up for that special someone. When you are focused on one thing, you seem to lose focus as to what is happening around you. Someone could be sick, and you would barely notice because you just don’t have time to with all of the stress you have put on yourself. An old man calls 911 to get some officers down to his street. He was bitten by a little girl on the hand for no reason other than trying to wipe the blood off of her face. When the squad car pulls up, the old man tells the officers that the little girl is back in her house across the street. There was some screaming, but now it is nice and quiet. The officers find the front door left open and this should have been the first sign to the officers that something is wrong, but any caution on their part doesn’t matter because they are met with something dead, or we can say undead. Officers Frank Talbot and Nash Jackson have been partners for many years, but Nash is ready to end the relationship. Frank punched him in the face one drunken night and although Nash forgives him and would like to continue their friendship, he has to move on with his career. Knowing that Frank is going through some issues with his wife, Sarah, Nash tries his hardest to keep the friendship as strong as it was when they were younger. But with everything that Frank has done to him over the past couple of months, and now shooting off Nash’s big toe in lieu of a zombie attack, Nash is ready to call it quits. Looking for a place to hold up and rest, the officers go to Nash’s apartment and Frank is shocked to see his wife sitting in the driveway. The three get into the building relatively unscathed but have taken notice to the new menace that is running amuck on the streets below. With the world changing in front of their eyes, Frank and Sarah start to discuss what has gone wrong with their relationship while Nash lies down, passed out from the mending of his missing toe. Frank and Sarah fight as they always have before, and now seeing that Sarah has a bag in Nash’s apartment, Frank fears that his best friend is sleeping with his wife. With bigger issues outside of the door, Frank turns his attention to survival. Needing food, he scours the neighborhood for any supplies he can find, but while he is gone, Nash wakes up. Silent Night, Zombie Night follows Officers Talbot and Jackson as they battle to survive the zombie outbreak, along with their friendship. Frank is kind of a loose cannon, which makes him the cop he is today, but with an itchy trigger finger, he is quick to shoot before asking questions. Nash is just alone and looking for someone to connect with and with Sarah leaving her husband, Nash has a drunken confession that he has loved her longer than she could imagine. Sarah is now caught in a love triangle with her husband and his young partner. Putting their backs to the wall, the three devise a plan of survival, but it all goes downhill. This is a fun zombie flick that will keep you watching even though the story line gets a bit lost in places. With your main character, Frank ,finding out that the slow zombies hunt based on smell and being able to mask his own, watching him go wild in a group of them on the street is enjoyable. When Nash comes back into the picture, he should be the strongest, but he seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time with his partner and finds out the hard way how much love can really cost you. With poor Sarah being stuck in the middle of this and it being right before Christmas, she is left with one of the hardest decisions of her life. Keep an eye on Santa later this year, if he is moving kind of funny, he just may be a zombie. Stay Scared. Written by Scott Edwards There are many people that believe that there are things in this world that cannot be explained by normal science. As the Bermuda Triangle and the Loch Ness Monster always come to the top of people's lists, there are several smaller relics that people hang onto for sentimental value, yet do not know why. There are families that have handed things down over the generations, it may be a good luck charm, or it could be something that the family is trying to hide from the rest of the world. No matter what it is, there is something about the relic that has you hold onto it until you are able to find its next recipient. Jake Tilton has just been promoted to shift supervisor at his factory but has been falling behind on his new responsibilities. As his customers have been getting short shipped since the promotion, his boss asks him if the newly added stress is getting to him. Although Jake believes that he is just picking up the extra workload from his superior, he says no, but his latest shipment is short once again and even though he is to blame, his boss gets fired for the mistake. Trying to hem things over with his former boss, Jake and his friend Cobb buy their old manager a drink, but the old man has something else in mind. Giving Jake an old trinket from his youth, the old man walks away without a worry in the world, but Jake has been given something special. An old monkey's paw that has the power to grant three wishes was given to the young man. With his first wish, Jake asks for the new car that is parked outside the bar, and when he and Cobb leave, they found the keys are in the ignition, waiting for someone to take it home. Not believing that this is happening, Jake takes the car, but when swerving to miss a crocodile in the middle of the road, Jake is forced to make his second wish to save his best friend’s life. As Cobb lies lifeless on the side of the street, he is brought back to the ranks of the living but has become more bitter than the man he once was. Wanting what really makes him happy, Cobb turns his attention to helping out Jake with his personal problems, so the last wish the young man has can be used for his needs. As this movie takes place in the great state of Louisiana, it is easy to say that paw that is being handed off is a piece of voodoo from the area. I think I am all right with that as there are many stories that have come from that great state and plenty of history to back it. One of the things that has made this movie stand out to me, besides it being a creepy wishing movie, is the selflessness the characters are willing to show to each other. Trying to find a way to help each other, along with making one another happy is one of the things that did not get lost in the story. With plenty of killing, a fair amount of splatter, and a redemption point, there is no reason to forget that there is still a party going on, as it never ends in New Orleans. Stay Scared. Bringing the best that you have is not always going to keep you on the top, in fact, it may cost you in the long run. The team of Ghost Sightings, a paranormal show, are struggling to get the ratings that they need to continue to stay on the air. Only being able to get into semi haunted locations due to a lack of budget, they are searching for something that will put their names back on the map. After being given an ultimatum by their network head, they are trying to brainstorm a way to make the show better and bring back some hard evidence of a real haunting. When the star of the show, Joel, gets an unexpected visitor named Mr. Gaffney who has a location that needs to be checked out, Joel jumps at the claims and puts all of his eggs into one basket. Heading out to the Freeling State Penitentiary, the group feels like this is their best chance to get something caught on tape and keep the show going, but when they meet up with an old employee of the prison, they start to feel like these accounts may only be stories and they will have to leave empty handed once again. Being given a tour of the old building, strange sounds start to manifest around the old cells and the hunt begins. Working through the prison, the group tries to taunt the ghosts into coming out in order to be captured on film and with the story they have heard about the penitentiary’s prize prisoner, Ephraim Chamberlain, still being housed there, they have high hopes of capturing something. But when their equipment starts to pick up on some type of energy, orbs are seen and one of their group is attacked violently. Needing to get their team to safety, they try to go out the front door of the old building, only to find that it has been chained up. The team of Ghost Sightings is now trapped in the prison for the night and will have to find a way to survive until morning without becoming its next victim. A fine example of what people will wind up doing to save their jobs when their livelihood is on the line. With each member of the show being a believer in the supernatural and in keeping the show authentic, they have to find a way to prove to the audience ghosts exist. After being begged not to stay in the old penitentiary by the tour guide, the team comes to terms with the fact that he might have been right. With fantastic ghostly attacks and a group that has to pull together to survive, a little twist at the end is nothing to be worried about. This is a good ghost movie and it features enough scares to keep you wondering if the team will ever escape the deadly confines of the prison, and you might just come to learn exactly why some spirits are still hanging around. When seeing the new house, it is easy to see that there will not be too many issues, other than making it their own, but when the clocks end up stopping on their own at 3:07 a.m., Carolyn finds out that there is something else happening and wants an explanation. Ed and Lorraine Warren are making a name for themselves, giving lectures on what they do to make a living. Being Demonologists, there are many questions that are asked of them and they are more than willing to help anyone in need. After their most recent case, gathering the possessed doll named Annabelle, the couple is looking for time off, but when Carolyn approaches them, they can see there is something more sinister at work and check out the house. With their research quickly uncovering what happened at the house in the past, along with the surrounding area, Ed and Lorraine know that they are in for a battle that could rival anything they have witnessed before. As the Perron family is tormented by the evil spirit inside of the house, it has latched itself to the family and there may be no way in escaping its torment. As the supernatural occurrences get more violent towards the Perron family, the Warrens turn their attention to the church to get an exorcism done on the house as quickly as possible, but with hesitation from the cloth, they are left to fight the evil spirit on their own. The Conjuring follows two families as they are stuck in the grips of evil spirits. The Perron family as they are trying to start their lives over in a new home and the Warrens as they are trying to settle down and enjoy their time together. As the Perrons start to witness strange occurrences in their home, they try to make do, but as the spirits get more violent and start to harm the family, they have to get help to rid themselves of the entity. The Warrens have dealt with the evil spirits before, but have not witnessed what is happening to the Perrons before and have to call upon all of their past experiences to save the young family from the clutches of the evil spirit that inhabits the old home. This should go down as a modern classic horror film in my book and let me tell you why, it encompasses all of the bare essentials of an old school movie, and did not give into any of the new methods that have been implemented to bring scares to the screen. With a good storyline, a great cast and old school direction, this movie reminds filmmakers everywhere, that bringing scares to life is easier than fancy camera tricks and CGI, it’s all about simplicity and appealing to our worst fears. Stay Scared. |
