Written by ScottyThere are things in life that everyone strives to get and one of these things is respect. For some people, they want to get respect from everyone that they possibly can, while others only care about receiving it from a select few. Either way, it is an upward battle to gain respect from others as they all have different feelings about what warrants it. Even if you are able to get this from one person, the next person may have different thoughts about what you have done do earn it, and wind up not giving you what you believe you justly deserve. Red Buckley has heard about a score that will get him all of the respect that he has ever been looking for. As a small time hood, he wants to make a name for himself by pulling off the biggest score that nobody has been able to accomplish before him. Hearing about a large black pearl being held by a plantation owner, Red has come up with a plan to gain access to the pearl and escape without ever being discovered. Waiting in a small restaurant outside of the plantation, Red finds his mark and gets his affairs in order. Meeting with Duval about a job, Red is taken back by the old man’s young wife, Kathrine. Needing to gain approval from the couple to get the job, Kathrine seems to be taken back by Red and his red hair and encourages her husband to hire the foreigner. Upon arriving at the plantation, Red is introduced to Peligre, a priestess on the island who only wants the best for the out of place man. Being shown to his home away from home, Red is shocked by the local customs and does not want any part of them, even if it means he will be protected from evil. Although Peligre takes offense to his mannerisms, she is still keeping an eye on the red headed man and strives to keep him safe. Late one night, Red takes a venture to Duval’s home and finds what he is looking for, the oversized black pearl he has heard so much about. But Duval warns the young man not to disturb his treasure, since the alarm is hardwired to the local army and even though they are fighting the rebels, they are very fast on their response time. When leaving the house, Red bumps into Kathrine and finds out that they are both looking for the same thing, the pearl and money. Becoming partners, the two formulate a new plan to get the pearl away from Duval and escape, but the rebel fighting is getting closer and Duval is preparing to leave his estate. When the couple notice that the pearl has gone missing, Red confronts Duval about its whereabouts, but the old man is not willing to divulge any information about where the priceless artifact has gone. Killing his employer, Red finds that he is not the only one wanting to profit from the loss, as Kathrine holds a gun to his head as well. Even with the promise of happiness off of the island, Red is not able to convince the new widow not to kill him, but Peligre is able to help in her own special way. Wow, talk about a messed up love triangle, but not the way you would expect. With the pearl being the only reason that Red even came down to the island, he finds that there might be more to life than just money as he finds love as well. But nothing is as it seems on the plantation as Peligre is more worried about Red’s well being than anything else and will stop at nothing to protect him from the horrors around him, including himself. Starring James Remar as Red Buckley, John Rhys-Davies as Duval, Vanity as Kathrine and Whoopi Goldberg as Peligre, there is nothing else to be wanted from the stars, or much less the story. There are a couple takeaways from this story, but the main one that I got from it, is to never lose your head, especially over something you should have never seen. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared.

Written by ScottyActors and actresses must have the hardest time when they are fighting to get the parts of their dreams. As every director seems to have their own vision for their roles and being perfect for the part encompasses more than just acting skill, but the proper look. Not everyone is six feet tall with a chiseled body, or a size two with legs that go on for days, but that is what a majority of the parts call for. Acting talent can only take you so far, as you need to have the look to capture the audience and bring them into the theater. Barry Blye is a struggling actor, but he knows that he will be able to find the perfect role since he takes pride in his craft. Being shot down for yet another role due to his look, he finds a posting about a production of Hamlet in an out of the way theater. Running into his old friend Winton Robbins when swooning over this opportunity, Barry is reminded where his career actually is, but there is no pride in not working, so he will take any job that will allow him to act. Arriving home, Barry finds that his girlfriend is moving out since he seems to have no aspirations, along with no money. Not needing anything but the opportunity to act to make his life feel complete, Barry finds the theater that is staging the production, but is surprised to find his old friend Winton there to audition as well. When talking to the director, Winton gets the part without even having to open his mouth as the director loves his look and high cheek bones. Not believing what is happening to him, Barry leaves the production looking for some reason to be happy again, but the short walk does not clear his head and he returns to the theater to take vengeance on the man that is trying to kill his livelihood. Choking out his competition, Barry is happy to tell director Halliwell that Winton has flown the coop, but not to have fear since he is willing to take over the role. While in his new dressing room, Barry works on his lines and is preparing to knock the audience dead, but when Halliwell and his crew come in and inform Barry that it is time for the final run through, Barry is feeling overwhelmed and needs a rehearsal. As playing the role of Hamlet is a very complicated part, Barry needs to be ready for all that is heading his way, but he is stunned to find out that his part is not that of the lead, but the part of Yorick who has been dead twenty five years before the play even started. With wide eyes, Halliwell and his crew are ready to start their production, they are just in need of a skull for Hamlet to cry to. This is just a fantastic look at how desperation could get the better of somebody when they have nothing left to lose. As Barry wants, needs to work to hone his craft, he does not bother to find out what kind of theater this actually is, but if he did, would he have still fought so hard for the part, much less kill off his competition? Staring Jon Lovitz as Barry Blye, Bruce Boxleitner as Winton Robbins and the great John Astin as Halliwell, this is more than a look at what happens during the casting process, but what happens when you are fully immersed in a role. It also shows what could happen when the crazy actors actually take control of a classical production. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by John Edward BetancourtIt was a wild season when it came to The Walking Dead this year, one that made a point to shock us and leave us in awe and tears on several occasions. It was a season where everyone seemed to be at risk since let's be honest, I think we were all steeling our nerves to see who lived and who died in the season finale and well...it was one of many things that made this year so great. Now that we are a week removed from Season Five, let's take a look back at the season as a whole. The Good: There were several things that kept me happy about this year and the first one was the storytelling. In prior season's, one big complaint about the show is how slow it moves to get where it needs to go. I heard that complaint about Season Two and the farm, and the first half of Season Four received the same criticism. But this year, there was not a moment or a second wasted on the show. Terminus was dealt with swiftly and quickly and come the midseason finale...we left Atlanta behind and were within the walls of Alexandria just like that a couple of episodes later. It was a first for the show and that breakneck speed of storytelling truly gave the show its most compelling season to date. This was also the season that character development was at its strongest. In the past we have seen some characters grow to either serve as walker or Governor fodder but this go round, this vast ensemble cast received a complete journey for the year. There was no major character left behind and I'll be damned if it didn't make for some compelling television. It made the character deaths of Beth and Tyreese matter, and it brought each one of us closer to our favorites. However, this also served to bring out the season's only flaw, we will get into that in just a moment. Otherwise, the last thing Season Five did extremely well was truly bring the comics to life. Despite minor changes as to who was involved in the story exactly, the show brought so many iconic moments to life and whether or not you've read the comics the best moments from those pages were front and center for all of us to see and chat about, and if you want a specific example, look no further than the Bob-B-Q. Also the effects work on the walkers this year relates to this point since Greg Nicotero and his crew continued to revolutionize the zombie by decaying them further, making for nightmarish and disgusting creations that blew me away week in and week out. The Bad: Now, back to my earlier point. The only flaw that I felt Season Five had was the slight twist in trying to make Rick look like a villain. It was all over the web that the next big baddie wasn't coming from the comics, but the man who is the main character and well...at times the show didn't help it. Especially in Alexandria. I'm not saying Rick wouldn't be hardened by the things he has seen, but to insinuate that he would turn evil after spending so long trying to do the right thing is just silly and I'm glad his redemption in the final minutes of the season put this silly idea to rest. The Verdict: I have to say that this is the show's best season yet. Everything was truly top notch and I love the fact that at last we have a central location for the characters to catch their breath in a place that looks like actual civilization. The storytelling should only get stronger as we look at the dynamic of the civilized world and Rick Grimes' experiences coming together and I can't wait to see what happens next now that we know the Wolves are coming. Until then, at least we have Fear the Walking Dead to look forward to. Written by ScottyCan a joke go too far? I would never think that it could, but there are some people that cannot take a joke and take it too seriously. While I try to keep a good joke running until it fails to get a laugh, I have been told that it is being taken too far. While some people do the same thing, it is hard to imagine that anything that we think is funny may not be for the person that is being tormented by it. Doctor Martin Fairbanks is trying to help out his little brother with a crash course in anatomy before his big test. As the two search around the residential morgue, Martin tries to make sure that his little brother will be set, but Carl has a different plan. Checking out all of the cadavers, Carl picks out a very attractive dead woman and starts making obscene remarks about what he can do with her. While touching her body, Carl sees a skin reaction and Martin jumps in to see if the woman is still alive. The woman jumps from the table and attacks Martin while all of the other corpses in the morgue come to life. Carl has played the best practical joke on his brother, but he did not expect for what happened next. Martin is working in his brother’s lab, on experimental research having to do with death and how long the brain can survive after the body gives out. Coming up with nothing over the past several months, Carl wants to shut down the lab and get his older brother a teaching job which he rightfully deserves. But Martin is still upset about the joke his little brother has played on him that cost him his career in medicine. Martin had a heart attack after the practical joke came to light and was not able to continue in the field of his dreams, and has been waiting for the perfect opportunity to get even. Carl knows that what he did was wrong, but with Martin refusing to give up with his research, he will have no choice but to cut his finances. But Martin has come up with a breakthrough and after visiting Haiti, he has found the secret to keeping the mind alive long after the body dies. Needing to show this to his brother, Martin spikes a glass of scotch and sends his brother into cardiac arrest. Injecting Carl with his serum, the truth behind what he is doing to his brother comes to light and Martin is bent on revenge. Keeping his brother in the bowels of the medical clinic, Carl is trapped inside of his body and unable to do anything to stop the torment of being medically dead. Seeing and hearing everything going on around him, he finds out that his brother's research is more than accurate, but with no way to applaud him for it, he will have to wait until the next life to confront him once again. But is Martin a stone blooded killer or is he just trying to get the attention of his benefactor? This is a clever story as the two brothers are trying to help each other out. Carl is trying to make up for the mistake he made some time ago that has cost his older brother the opportunity to become a surgeon, while Martin is trying to make his little brother money. Seeing how the two interact, it seems like Carl is unwilling to listen to new ideas concerning what happens after the body dies, especially when it comes to the brain, but Martin is not willing to give up on proving to him that people are still alive long after their bodies have stopped working. With Beau Bridges playing Martin and Tony Goldwyn paying Carl, the two show such distrust for each other on the screen, really bring the story to life. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared! Written by ScottyNot having enough money to survive in today’s economy is very difficult. Trying to find additional jobs to keep your income up high enough to pay all of your bills is just too much for many people. Not wanting to change your way of life, there are other things that people try to do to make sure they do not have to suffer. Some people chose to go the illegal route, making money selling things that are not legal, while others try to benefit by pulling scams. I would never recommend doing this, as in the end you will always get caught, but to each their own. Lou Paloma is out of work again, this time being fired from a pizza delivery job. Not wanting to give up, Lou has plenty of other dream jobs lined up, but his wife Irene is worried about all of their bills that are piling up. Wanting to get a job, Lou tells her no, no wife of his will have to work a day while being married to him. Thinking about ways to get more money and borrowing more of it being out of the question, the couple gets a call from Lou’s life insurance agency and that gives Lou the idea of a lifetime. Faking his own death would be easy and put them both on easy street. With his brother Billy working in the coroner’s office, Lou knows that he will be able to pull it off without being caught. Billy is hesitant with the idea at first, but will do anything to help Irene out since he has loved her since the first day he had laid eyes on her. Thinking about the best way to fake his brother’s death, Billy devises a plan that will keep everyone away from the scent and will be able to pursue his true venture. Spreading blood all over his brother’s body, Billy gets the police to come to the house and pronounce Lou dead. After the funeral, Lou is ready to move down to Brazil, but Billy and Irene are hesitant to go through with the plan. Wanting to wait for things to calm down, they convince Lou to head off on his own and Irene will join him in a few months. But Irene and Billy have found a passion for each other that cannot be breached by Lou and they are ready to run off into the sunset together. But Lou is not going to go down without a fight, but after getting plastic surgery, nobody knows who he really is. Coming back home, Lou finds his wife and brother happy and with not a care in the world, but he is ready to fight for everything that is really his, the money. Getting arrested, Lou is put on trial for killing himself and not being able to prove who he really is, he is in for the battle of his life. I talk about it all the time, how much I would have loved to have a brother or sister, but after watching this, I am pretty happy I am the only child. Not having to look over my shoulder for someone who wants to take over my life is a relief. But with that being said, Lou was no angel and his brother Billy wanted what he had more than he did. Rewards go to the prepared I guess, but without knowing how Billy felt about her, Irene was stuck in the middle of a love triangle that was out of her hands. Staring Teri Garr as Irene, Bruno Kirby as Billy, Bruce McGill as Lou and a special appearance of James Tolkan as Sgt. McClaine, this is a fantast telling of what could go wrong with a fool proof plan that was never truly fool proof to start out with. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Sometimes, this show can tug at your heart strings in just the right way. This week's episode of Supernatural was different than most in so many ways. The theme of family is back and being tested. When Sam lies to Dean about going out of town for some French Movie, Dean lies about staying in and doing nothing. The older Winchester hits up a local bar to drink his troubles away and ends up hustling some kids at pool. Why? Because why not! He's unaware that Sam is with Castiel. The angel tries to go to heaven but is stopped by Hannah. She's taken over the male gate keepers body to tell Cas and Sam that they're not allowed to speak with Metatron anymore. The news doesn't go over well with either, so a new plan is formed. They track down an old psychic that had been working with the Men of Letters. The man is an actual mind reader and quickly figured out who Sam is. He can't read Castiel's thoughts; seeing only color. So why do they need a psychic? They need to talk to someone in Heaven...someone very important. Bobby is a bit surprised to talk to Sam and Castiel. The screen was paused and I may have actually shed tears over seeing Bobby again. They need him to break out of his personal heaven and open the gate to earth. That way, Castiel can get in and he and Bobby can break out Metatron. Seems the Scribe of God is needed once again. Bobby manages to break out and open the gate. He helps Cas with little fuss, and before we know it Metatron and Cas are on earth. The scribe tries causing trouble and Castiel slices his throat with the angel blade and steals his grace. Sam promptly shoots him in the leg....and we get to find out that Metatron lied about knowing how to remove he Mark. According to the little weasel, it's ancient magic. Only God and Lucifer know about the Mark enough to remove it. But, he does know where Castiel's grace is. Cas decides to take the angel, now human, and find his grace. Sam returns to the bunker with a letter given to him by Cas from Bobby. After scamming kids out of their money, and watch, Dean gets the pleasure of a visit from Rowena. She has enchanted the kids in the bar and they attack Dean. Instead of killing them, though, he resists he urge and knocks them all out. As a last ditch effort, Rowena tries killing Dean with a powerful spell. It doesn't work, so she goes back to Hell unscathed. Despite wanting to kill her, Dean doesn't. She instead mutilates herself claiming it was Dean Winchester. Saying she tried to kill him for the sake of her son. Strangely, Crowley doesn't believe her, or does he? He goes to the bar to see Dean, but instead of a violent confrontation, they talk. Crowley finally admits to knowing Rowena was manipulating him and lying. Dean tells the King he's gone soft, and they actually might be friends. Or possibly family. Because, family doesn't end at blood, nor does it start there. Family doesn't use you; they're there for you in the best of times and worst circumstances. It seems the King of Hell might just be more to the Winchester's than any of them knew. He and Dean are kindred spirits after all. Crowley returns home and does something we all wanted him to do. He kicks Rowena out, and that's probably a bad thing.... With both brothers back home, Sam reads the letter from Bobby. The consequences of him helping free Metatron probably won't be pretty. Angels are dicks, but we'll not know what's happened just yet. Instead, the letter is a plea of sorts, for Sam to not do all this behind Dean's back. If they're going to look for a cure, they shouldn't be sneaking around... Written by ScottyBeing determined is one thing, but following through is something completely different. Most people who may seem to be determined to do something actually stop at the first bit of trouble in their path, leaving them wondering, what if. But the ones that are able to follow through get the joy of reaping their rewards for coming in at the finish line. This is a trait that I wish more people would have, to follow through with their ventures, as so many people are left with regrets in this life and you should never have one for something that you have accomplished. Earl Raymond Digs was on death row, but was able to escape before his execution. Faking being sick the night before, Digs has a car, a shirt full of money and the dream of making it over the border to Mexico to start his new life. But there is someone else following him on the road who has just received word of the stolen car and will do everything within his power to stop the serial killer. Trying to get Digs to pull over, the officer is forced to use evasive maneuvers and shoot at the convict to get him to stop. With both men crashing on the side of the road, Digs is the first to return to consciousness and starts formulating his plan on how to make it to Mexico. But he is not the only one who is awake and looking for results as a vulture lands on his wrecked car. Offering the scavenger the meal of the dead policeman a few feet away, Digs goes about his escape in ease, but the officer is not dead and has warned the vulture that the he will get the kill before the bird. Digs has a massive head start and has found a watering hole to get some food and drinks in his system, but comes to find out that the building has been abandoned for some time and he is not the only one looking for nourishment. The officer is able to catch Digs and handcuffs the killer to himself, but in the struggle, loses his gun. Digs picks up the firearm and kills the officer, but in his final breath, the handcuff key finds its way down his throat. Digs is now chained to his pursuer, but that will not stop him for reaching his destination of Mexico. Having the carry and drag the dead cop, Digs is getting dehydrated very quickly. With Mexico in his sights, he will not be stopped by anything, but the vulture is still sticking around and playing the waiting game for the convict. Making up to the top of the hill, Digs sees Mexico and has beat the bird that has been following him, but the weight of the officer has dragged him back down the mountain and now Digs has to find a way to get free of his former pursuer/dead weight. Not being able to see or think straight, Digs is ready to take it to the next level and cut himself free, but in the heat, will he be able to wield his makeshift axe straight? Just because there are only two people involved in this story, I believe that the vulture is the strongest character as it seems to be the one that everyone confides in. I don’t want to take anything away from Digs or the officer, but I love the bird in this episode, it is so eerie and necessary. Staring Kyle MacLachlan as Digs and George DelHoyo as the officer, I love how this the twist of this story took shape and how both characters played into it. Even though the officer does not have many speaking lines, he is dragged all over the desert and forced to listen to the killer talk, but will not give up on what he was sent out to do, to stop Digs from getting to freedom. Until next time kiddies, Stay Scared. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Guys, as this season draws closer to an end, I have to admit, I’m scared. I feel like we’re going to lose one of the Winchesters…granted, they’ll be back, because they can’t stay dead for long. But Last season we ended with Dean dying, so I feel this season it might be Sammy’s turn. Which is something I am not okay with. Thankfully, we know we’re getting a season 11, and that makes things slightly easier…but also harder… Last week we had a series of deaths that caught the Winchester's eye. It seemed that Catholics were just turning up dead. Well, not just dead, they all killed themselves. Or, well, in the case of one wife, violently murdering her husband. So, what’s going on? There has to be something driving these people into gutting themselves. Right? Dean is fully onboard with it being a ghost, and Sam is willing to bet it’s a curse, or something….One of the nuns tries to help, or does she? She doesn’t seem to buy into the idea of ghosts. On the other hand, she is too busy learning about her new friends past. The young nun tells the tale of how she was once in love with a painter. So in love, she was devastated when he refuted her confession. The pain of unrequited love was so evident, her father had her taken away to the convent. A sad story, but that’s not helping explain the murders. Finally, Dean goes and confesses to the priest. At first, it’s a hilarious ploy that soon turns serious. Dean doesn’t want to die, and who can blame him. After seeing what the Mark did to Cain himself, it’s a wonder Dean is holding up as well as he is. Sam is fully convinced they can find a cure for it, but Dean’s bleak outlook isn’t lifting. The Priest is the next victim and Dean finds the gruesome scene before the nun admits that there is a ghost in their midst. She’d been so excited to have a friend, that she ignored the fact that the murders started once the ghost arrived and several artifacts from Italy were given to the church. Dean sends Sam to burn the ghost's journal, but the younger Winchester hesitates and reads it instead. It’s there he finds out that it’s not the Journal tethering her, but the painting. The girl had escaped the convent and murdered the artist. But, before this had all taken place, she’d cut the tip of her finger off. Told her artist to grind the bone and flesh into the paint. Gross, right? Thankfully, Sam’s not good at always listening to Dean, because Dean ends up getting attacked by the possessed nun. Sam finds the paining, and for good measure, burns it along with the girls other items. The ghost is finally laid to rest, and the nun and Dean are spared….Hopefully tonight, we can get a bit more hope for Dean’s situation, and maybe a bit closer to a cure! |
