Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Sometimes, you have to wonder exactly how much pressure and heartbreak a character can take in a story, and that's exactly where I am at mentally with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. because this poor group continues to get pummeled week in and week out and last night was certainly no exception. In fact, "Devils You Know" actually went to some pretty dark places as we essentially continued this theme of Inhuman-hunts and well, regardless of how ugly it turned out to be I still loved every single second of it. This was an episode that not only featured some fine acting, but I really didn't see that ending coming, nor did I expect there to be such a hideous twist for what's really going on with our mystery monster and why this creature is making such a point to find Inhumans and kill them. So let's start with that plot line since it truly was the focus of the majority of the episode as S.H.I.E.L.D. and the A.T.C.U. worked together to try and find their serial Inhuman killer and the results were interesting to say the least. It turns out the the Inhumans that turn up dead get a mystery email that damages their computer, but in that process is also tracing their exact location so Lash can come in and kill every last one of them. It leads the team to the man who put together the virus, it turns out he isn't Lash, but is working with him and his admission of the plan, and that Lash does indeed want his fellow Inhumans dead to both teams ends up getting him killed by the beast where we discover, through Daisy's eyes that he can transform back into human form and easily escape and blend in. But while this is happening, Hunter is continuing his hunt for Ward and is so blinded by revenge that he seems lost to Agent May who believe it or not, returns to S.H.I.E.L.D. to ask Coulson for help in keeping Hunter safe. It doesn't necessarily mean she is back, yet - because we all know she is coming back it's just a matter of when, she just wants to do right by Hunter and unfortunately for him...he ends up face to face with Ward and quickly finds himself in a firefight. But before Coulson and the gang can get there, May has to help him out and that's when Ward unleashes more of his evil fury...letting May know via video phone that they are within striking distance of her beloved husband. Hunter thinks it's a trick and goes after Ward regardless, wounding the bastard in the process before he gets away, but the damage has been done...Andrew has been killed by Hydra. So yeah...that's where the episode ends and it took me a few minutes to pull my jaw from the floor because holy cow, it looks like they actually killed Andrew. I say looks like because you never know if someone is dead when it comes to Marvel, and I may also say that because I don't want to believe Ward actually killed him, but what a way to end an episode and now there are more questions than answers about Lash as well...specifically one comes to mind, who is he...or she when transformed back into human form? I thought it was odd timing that Daisy pointed out Lash could be anyone and then suddenly Price appears. Could it be her after all? Just a passing thought since she and her team hate the Inhumans so much. Either way, we will have to wait to get these questions answered since next week we find out exactly what happened to Gemma on that crazy planet, until then.
