Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 205 of ‘Race to Survive: New Zealand’. To revisit the previous episode, click here. There is an old mantra out there when it comes to facing tasks and goals that are difficult or impossible in nature. In that, the harder it is, the easier the rest of the task or the hunt becomes. Because human psychology dictates that we become hardened and emboldened by the tough stuff, making the rest a breeze, and while there is logic to support that… since we do indeed find ourselves in a zone after we slog through some tough days… it isn’t something we can apply across the board. For there are some tasks that we do our best to prepare for/work through, only to discover… it only gets harder… and for proof, just ask the contestants of Race to Survive: New Zealand on USA Network. Simply because the next episode in this journey, ‘Deep, Dark, Holes’, saw refreshed teams holding to that mantra. For they felt that they’d been through hell and now had a good handle on how best to tackle the next leg of the competition. In fact, this episode featured strategies across the board and well… it didn’t take long for the teams to learn that this won’t be getting easier in the slightest. Simply because when one is dealing with nature, one never knows what to expect, and of course… speed and push can vary and change on a moment’s notice because of the terrain. The kind that saw teams get lost and jockey for position all while dealing with some real struggles here. Because the terrain was simply brutal, since the teams had to do some hard spelunking through a narrow cave and make their way through brutal brush to make it to the coastline, to then boat to the finish line. Which meant, there were some slowdown moments because of that, and there were minor and major injuries abound. Some of which involved something as simple as cuts and bruises and some… were complex and scary. Since Ashley’s ankle injury was aggravated by the terrain, in this leg of the journey. Specifically, the rocks, and she struggled badly with her pain, and injuries also put one team out of the race altogether. Because Coree hit his head at one point and the pain and concern over his health was reason enough to exit the race. Which spoke deeply to how this was just getting harder and harder, despite these teams doing their best to just immerse themselves in the madness, and even those in front… faced some hardships. For our usual top three were in the lead, but it wasn’t easy to get there or maintain. Since Bronson and Ryan skipped the food cache to just go for first and showcase their strength, and for a time enjoyed the lead before Corry and Oliver once again found their way into first. Not to mention, our beloved smokejumpers were the ones who got lost and had to hustle like never before to find their way to third. Because this race is just unpredictable and it doesn’t matter how well one thinks they are prepared, they are not. The terrain will get them, surprises will come into play and injuries have derailed the hopes and dreams of another team. Not to mention, this was also an emotional tale. Since we came to learn about why Randi and Ashley are pushing so hard to win this and we saw Creighton and Paula reflect upon the importance of this race for both of them and really… this was just a tough episode when all is said and done. Because we saw everyone just get pushed hard and clearly, this race is only going to get more difficult before it gets better and that is going to lead to more intense episodes, and well, we absolutely want more of that. Because that is indeed what we signed up for, and it does make for compelling and moving television, the kind we cannot get enough of. Because tough days and hard lessons regarding control aside, it is inspiring to see these competitors fight so hard for an incredible prize and to see how far they will go to obtain it. Until next time. Written by John Edward Betancourt
Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 402 of ‘The Boys’. To revisit the Season Four Premiere, click here.
It is definitely safe to say that creative individuals that inject social commentary and observation into their story, do so in unique and inventive ways. For instance, Rod Serling used outlandish scenarios in The Twilight Zone to get his point about humanity across to the audience. Whereas George A. Romero was big on using his iconic monsters to express his observations about our world. And of course, Jordan Peele blends both elements together to bring about some poignant commentary. Yet, while so many are eager to disguise what they have to say beneath a juicy plot or end of the world scenarios, some creatives out there… have no qualms with simply saying what needs to be said in the most direct manner possible. Such as Eric Kripke. For season four of The Boys on Prime Video is not hiding behind allegory or example, it is simply ripping off the band aid and outright looking into how we’ve reached the current divide in America and how it persists and of course… why it exists. Which is giving rise to some powerful stories that are both entertaining and sobering for certain. Since this is also a unique and refreshing, and bold approach to commentary for certain and well… this direct approach is top of mind today because it was put on full display in the next episode of the show. But before we dive into how exactly ‘Life Among the Septics’ pulled this off, we would be remiss to not point out that this story also found time to give us more of what we love… which is character development and growth. Because there are some good people in this story, who deserve a little peace in their lives and several of them chased it. Frenchie and Kimiko for instance, confronted bits and pieces of their past all in the hopes of making peace with it so they could move forward at last. Only to remind us that such acts are never easy and take hard, hard work. But they tried their best and that’s always a good start and this was also a story that saw Hughie and Annie find agency and a surprise. Since Hughie’s mother returned to handle his dad’s care and that gave him a chance to confront her about her actions and stand up to her at last, and he did, and it was amazing. Plus, Annie finally embraced the beacon of light she truly is, and she managed to even free those accused in her group with an assist from A-Train. Which was the surprise, and one cannot help but wonder what will come of his moment of kindness and regret.
But while it was indeed great to see this depth and see these heroes grow, there is still a growing threat in this story, the rise of Trumpism… er… Homlanderism. Because that nonsense was growing still in this tale, and this is where the direct commentary came into play. Courtesy of two key storylines. The first of which pondered upon how we got here and how this persists to a certain degree and well, indoctrination comes into play. Via parents that push an agenda on a child or an impressionable mind, and they listen because its parents talking, and we are supposed to trust them. But this truly puts a seed in their mind and puts them down an ugly path and that was showcased via Homelander’s desire to make his son, Homeboy, the next generation of hero. Which involved staging a heist, and bloodshed and lies. All in the hopes of molding his son into him and this was hard to watch, but it hammered home the point that it starts at home and the second storyline, spoke to how parents bring it home.
Because while that was going on, The Boys made their way to TruthCon. To see what Sister Sage was up to there and why she was so interested in a Supe named Firecracker and well, while there… it became clear that the constant messaging being spewed out by sycophants and the real fake news, Fox, helps to create this cycle of stupidity and fear. Since we saw and heard a lot of the crap that the MAGA movement eats up with impunity. But in between those moments and the wildest, tossed salad bar, pinkeye inducing moment, we’ve ever seen… the reality of how we got here was put on display. In that, so many of these individuals bought into the American Dream and got nothing out of its lies, that they felt lost and left behind, especially with other segments of America moving forward without them and this… and Cheeto von Tweeto have given them purpose and the belief their sordid and sorrowful American Dream can be revived and preserved. Which is both pitiful and frustrating to think upon. Since it speaks to victim mentality in a nation that has proven that if an ideal isn’t working, we can toss it aside and reinvent it or move in a manner that is productive. But alas, marginalization and the right idiotic voices help people forget that, bringing us to where we are now and that made… for one brilliant episode. One that truly spoke to so much in a very direct and haunting manner and rightfully so. Because we are at a crisis point with the Homelanders of the world and being subtle at this point gets us nowhere. If anything, it will make things worse and this story deserves a round of applause for helping us to understand what brought us to this point and the importance of fighting back on the nonsense so that it doesn’t become the norm and it will be interesting to see what other powerful commentary awaits us, as season four of this brilliant show soars along. Until next time. Watch ‘The Boys’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 1407 of ‘Doctor Who’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
It is definitely safe to say, that two massive questions have been hanging heavy over the hit BBC/Disney+ series, Doctor Who, for some time now. In that, we simply must know who the mystery woman is that keeps appearing in Ruby and the Doctor’s adventures through space and time… and we simply must know who the ancient evil is that the Toymaker alluded to during the final 60th Anniversary special, ‘The Giggle’. Simply because, those two queries/issues have hung heavy over Ncuti Gatwa’s first outing as the Fifteenth Doctor and outright require some measure of resolution to keep the fans happy. Because no one wants to wait several seasons to have those questions answered. Well at it turns out, this week’s episode served as the moment to answer those questions and that made ‘The Legend of Ruby Sunday’ quite the incredible tale. One that paid amazing tribute to the past through those very answers, and it brought about the information we seek… the long way round. For this particular tale opened up with a return to UNIT, wherein the Doctor expressed his concerns about the face that has followed he and Ruby all season long and he had a great many questions as to where she came from and why and well, while the core team went to work on that, the Doctor used the processing time to handle another mystery. Specifically… the true identity of Ruby’s mother. Which brought about a very slick and delightful sequence wherein an old VHS tape of Ruby being dropped off allowed for us to in essence, revisit the ending of ‘The Church on Ruby Road’ and ponder upon the identity of Ruby’s mother. But alas, this went, terribly, terribly wrong. For there was no data available to reveal that mysterious face, that allowed for the mystery to continue and there was also the matter… of the strange evil that suddenly showed up surrounding the TARDIS. For every scan of it in the past showcased something ominous for certain. But despite there being a danger, one that cost a UNIT soldier his life, the Doctor believed it would have to wait to solve. For this was an echo of the past, that UNIT could analyze and there was a more pressing matter before them.
Specifically… Susan Triad. Who was preparing to launch some epic software and who harbored the face that was haunting this duo through space and time and well… the Doctor believed that perhaps she was around because she might be his granddaughter. Who had regenerated and lost her way and her memories, as the Master once did. So, he took the time to meet with her and poke and prod her memory to see what would happen. But instead of there being a recollection and a moment of gravity between this duo, there was only terror… and disaster. For Susan came to realize that she was following the Doctor and Ruby via her dreams, because of the very real evil she was attached to. One that woke up as the epiphany washed over her, the very one that we’ve been alerted to for some time now.
In fact, that awakening made it clear that the Fourteenth Doctor was right, the voyage to the edge of everything in ‘Wild Blue Yonder’ had indeed caused more trouble than it was worth. For not only did it unlock the Toymaker from his prison, but it allowed for another evil to escape and join with the TARDIS so it could quietly wait for the moment to return to the everyday world and sow havoc, and it just so happened, that this evil was another one that was familiar to the Doctor. For this monster, turned out to be Sutekh and Susan was nothing more than one of his minions as part of his plan, to unleash death upon our universe at last. Courtesy of the fact that he was angry and bitter over being banished to other realms by the Doctor, so what better revenge than to destroy the very universe he protects? All of which made, for one epic episode. For this one was zany, and high energy and emotional, courtesy of the return to UNIT and the whole investigation into Ruby’s past. But more importantly, it brought back, another ancient villain for the Doctor to face. One that he hasn’t dealt with since the days when he wore the Fourth Doctor’s face and that is just amazing. Since Russell T. Davies is clearly interested in updating and refreshing some of the wildest villains to ever grace the franchise and well, the cliffhanger that was set up here… really will make the wait for next week’s episode quite painful in nature. Simply because Sutekh seems stronger than ever and ready to inflict pain, and we simply must know how the Doctor will defeat him once more. Until next time. Watch ‘Doctor Who’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 402 of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’. To revisit the Season Four Premiere, click here.
Often times in crime dramas involving drug kingpins, the kingpin or kingpins in question… rarely deal with the realities of everyday life… and understandably so. After all, they deal in drugs and the money flows in. So, their biggest problems tend to be a drop off in revenue, problems with the product or greedy employees or the worst of the worst, overzealous law enforcement officers and true threats to their kingdom. All of which keeps them very, very busy and free from the mundane, and that is why the fourth and final season of the hit STARZ series, Power Book II: Ghost is so important to the very fabric of the genre. For this particular year of storytelling is shaking things up through and through, by having the kingpins in this story… deal with the realities of everyday life. Granted, the show has flirted with this before, but never on this level and never in this manner. Which made ‘To Thine Own Self’ quite the powerhouse tale. For it showcased the fact that these stories can be grounded in reality and can use the struggles of everyday life to teach us why people turn to this life and its dangerous trappings, and it accomplished these amazing storytelling feats… by having Monet Tejada and Tariq St. Patrick deal with some of the everyday stuff we all handle in our day to day lives. For Monet, that involved… down time. Simply because… Noma was making deals without her and doing her best to keep the Tejada family at bay at every turn in those dealings. Which meant, Monet had no choice… but to just… be an everyday person and rest and heal for a change and that… allowed for her to do what kingpins rarely do in these stories: reflect upon life. Because all she had now was time and that prompted her to really think upon the past, the choices she’s made and where they have brought her and that led to an emotional reckoning for Monet. Of course, her journey still featured some of her finest gangster moments since she did plot with Tariq to uncover more about the shooting and tried to take over. But what mattered more here, is that she actually reflected upon her life, showed remorse and pondered upon change and that’s stuff we all deal with at some point.
Speaking of Tariq, his real-world journey involved a vastly different start to the semester at Stansfield. For with the trust fund gone forever he had to apply for scholarships and work programs to pay them off and that meant, Tariq was getting the regular college experience, complete with having to work three jobs that he certainly didn’t enjoy. Not to mention, a visit from the mysterious and motivated Detective Carter also prompted him to realize… that his family’s life had come crashing down to Earth as well. For there was talk that his mother was going to be booted from the WITSEC program and that prompted Tariq to go on a reflective journey of his own.
Wherein he visited his mother in Pennsylvania and asked her to settle down to find safety and where he found shame in her working an everyday gig and taking flak from everyday guys and that, combined with the failure of his car, just pushed Tariq to the edge. Wherein he decided with Brayden, to get back in the game. Because the normal life was for chumps in his opinion, and this was… fascinating to say the least. Since it showcased several things. Such as Tariq dealing with life as so many others do for the first time since his dad put him in a financially protected place, as did the family trade. Plus it also explored what keeps people in the game. Since Tariq truly thinks the game is a better life than the grind others go through to find success. Pointing out that yes, drug dealing does indeed get one rich quick, but with so many risks. Such as Noma, who will be trouble down the line for Tariq and just the dangers that surround this life period. But those lessons aside, this was… one of the best episodes the series has ever aired. Since it finally forced two key players to reflect upon their actions, their life, and the journey they’ve been upon, and this will undoubtedly be a crucial foundation point for Tariq and his journey toward the straight life or the game. Because he will have to decide which path to walk. But while we wait to see which path he chooses; we really can celebrate one brilliant tale. One that took this genre to new heights and showcased its potential from a storytelling standpoint, and it will be fascinating to see what comes out of these inflection points as the final season of this show continues along. Until next time. Watch ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 209 of ‘American Rust: Broken Justice’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular lesson that each and every one of us struggle to learn in life, is how important it is to resolve our demons and our past when we enter a new chapter in our lives. Because that really is the only way to find peace and a new way forward and well, this is a battle for us because we do our best to not deal with such matters, out of the belief that this kind of stuff can be left behind or be buried via reinvention. Only for us to discover… there will come a day when we must and we will pay a dear price for ignoring it, and well… this is top of mind today, simply because it was put on display in the next episode of American Rust: Broken Justice on Prime Video. A feat that ‘Faster Horses, Younger Women and More Money’ accomplished… shortly after resolving last episode’s cliffhanger. Because when we last left Angela and Del, they were walking into a trap, one that Fisher sprung in a scary manner but thankfully fell to pieces. Courtesy of Cynthia, who came to realize something was wrong and who decided to do something about the corruption running through the department, at quite the cost. For a counterattack on her very corrupt boss, who also joined in on the horror, led to her end and led to a lot of injuries. Since Angela and Del were hospitalized. But on the plus side… the Brotherhood was exposed at last and seemingly; the central lesson here didn’t apply. After all, Del got his evidence back, and Grace was able to see to its exit from this world. But alas, the downtime that followed the end of the Brotherhood, led to all kinds of clapback from the universe about facing one’s past. For instance, had Billy been open about his feelings and dealt with them, the woman he wanted to marry would not have spent the night in the arms of her now ex-husband. Not to mention, had Isaac been better about putting up his boundaries he would not have let an outright monster into his life and of course… Angela would not be pondering upon Del’s integrity at the moment. Simply because Steve Park made sure to showcase his work to her about what happened on that fateful night, and she now has questions about Del for certain. All of which spoke to how the universe hammers down punishment for not dealing with our messes and our emotions, and fallout awaits… as done quite the conclusion for the story. After all, we came to learn here that Russell is in fact, a terrifying monster. One that will stop at nothing to protect Landwill and their interests and of course, Del is now mere inches away from properly solving the bombing case. Since he discovered that more parties are involved in this mess than he ever expected. In the end, this was just… a smart story that brought the central lesson of the season home. Because this one really did a fine job of educating us regarding how much better we will feel and how much better our lives will be, when we look at yesterday and bury its skeletons and bid it farewell. But all lessons aside, make no mistake about it, chaos and showdowns await us in the season two finale of the show. Since so many here have unresolved issues that simply must be handled and will be because that’s what is demanded of us and of course… there’s still a case to close and monsters named Russell and Fisher to deal with and that means, it is time to hit play on the next episode and see how this incredible season of storytelling wraps up. Until next time. Watch ‘American Rust: Broken Justice’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 204 of ‘Outer Range’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular word that absolutely describes season two of the hit Prime Video series, Outer Range, is unconventional. For this is that rare sci-fi story that follows little of the genre rules. For it leans more into drama and overall humanity far more than traditional science fiction ever has, in fact… it doesn’t really touch on the sci-fi stuff all that often and to top it off, it breaks all kinds of rules when it comes to how it tells its stories. Since every episode is jam packed with fascinating journeys that the show balances well, and it truly is showing no signs of slowing down regarding all this, as evidenced by the next episode. For ‘Ode to Joy’ did something quite surprising, in that, it shifted its focus from the problems that everyone was dealing with in 2024… to instead showcase the struggles for two individuals in 1886. Specifically, Deputy Sherriff Joy and young Royal Abbott. Who were facing some tough times in the past. Because Joy, who we learned was on her fourth year in the 1800s after going through the black-hole portal thingy, was facing quite the decision. In that, Falling Star had come down with cancer and was barreling toward her end, and that meant Joy was viewed as the right choice to watch over the community and move them forward and she wasn’t sure if she was capable of such heroism. But that was put to the test in this tale, since some of the local boys got their hands on a member of the Shoshone community, and well, when faced with the reality someone in the community would suffer… Joy decided it was time to apply some 2024 police training to the Old West. Which allowed for her to quickly put down some of the men that caused trouble and save a life and showcase… the hero she’s always been and will now forever be. Since she also set in motion, the defense of the community, giving rise to real safety from the mob mentality that was taking place in town, and this was just… an amazing storyline that let Tamara Podemski shine as an actor. However, there was mention that Royal ran into some troubles here as well. All of which for him, related to his father. For his dad, Levi, was just plain rotten in this tale and was constantly badgering his son and making stupid demands of him and of course he dragged Royal along when the time came to hunt for Joy and that led to quite the stunning moment. Because eventually Royal and his dear old dad came face to face with Joy, since she was wounded in the fight and Levi… wanted his son to kill Joy without giving it a second thought. A move that instead prompted Royal to put an end to his father and run. Run so hard and so fast, that he plunged into the black hole that appeared before him… with Joy right behind him. Which means that Joy was there for one of the most pivotal moments in Royal’s life, and now we know the complete story of how and why he traveled through time, and how Joy made it home, and that made… for one incredible tale. One that saw a hero rise in the most epic manner possible and reminded us of how far we’ve come and how far we need to go when it comes to equality with indigenous Americans, while also giving us a twist that informs us… the black hole is somehow binding everyone together. The only question that remains… is why… and only time and patience will answer that, as we continue our journey through the second season of this fascinating and unconventional show. Until next time. Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 208 of ‘Bosch: Legacy’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
If there is one particular concept/theme that we’ve discussed often regarding season two of Bosch: Legacy on Amazon Freevee, it would have to be the power of consequences. For all season long, we’ve seen Harry and Honey, and even Maddie deal with the consequences of their actions and the hateful and gross actions of others. Allowing for a bevy of lessons to come forth from said explorations, and well… it would seem that as we barrel toward the end of season two, the show won’t be letting up in such matters. As evidenced by the next episode in this magnificent series. For ‘Seventy-Four Degrees in Belize’ posed quite the important question to the bad guys in this tale. Specifically, what kinds of consequences exist when you mess with a guy like Harry Bosch, and his family. Because Ellis and Long did indeed knock Mo’s car off of the Hollywood cliffs and injured the both of them in the process. But once Bosch and Mo were cleared by the doctors with minor injuries, did Harry to go work and inform both of those men, that you pay the worst consequences possible for poking the bear. Because Bosch was done messing around with these guys and he was ready to expose them both and that prompted him… to go for broke. Which meant, it was time to visit the source of everyone’s problems and get on record how the good doctor’s nonsense led to the Parks murder and well… that brought about the truth, on digital record no less and some hard punishment for Ellis and Long. Who were worried about loose ends and showed up to the good doctor’s estate to handle one. But they instead were handled. For Harry got the drop on them and was able to badly injure Long and put Ellis on the run, and in the process… expose they were dirty cops to begin with. All of which were epic consequences for messing with Bosch and using Maddie for intelligence and that made for one satisfying sequence, one that was bookended… by more consequences. Simply because while all of this was going on, the FBI was working to build their case against Honey and Harry and that meant, first putting a little fear into Bosch via Maddie. Since they interviewed her at the Hollywood Station, before just going for broke. Which entailed just getting their hands on a search warrant to try and find something concrete to bring them in over. That was, early on, a poor choice on their part since Honey and Bosch did a fine job of covering their tracks… but alas one cloud saved file was enough, to put Honey in handcuffs and throw the plan to keep what happened to Rogers into pure chaos. But that… are indeed the consequence of crossing that line. But before we ponder upon how that little cliffhanger plays out; we can celebrate one epic tale. One that truly informed us, you don’t eff with Harry Bosch, plain and simple. Because the consequences that come from that are dire to say the least, and that really did lead to some amazing moments. The kind that showcased Harry’s skills as an investigator and how little escapes him in that focused moment. But alas, trouble is on the horizon for certain and that does leave one eager to continue to the journey. To see if Ellis takes revenge or makes a run for it and to see what will happen with Honey in custody. Until next time. Watch ‘Bosch: Legacy’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Season Four Premiere of ‘The Boys’. To revisit the Season Three Finale, click here.
It is definitely safe to say that in 2024, it is EXTREMELY difficult to fool a television audience. For the modern TV viewer, has immersed themselves within a bevy of stories and they do have a fine understanding of story structure and the tricks that writers use to surprise and subvert expectations. To the point where twists are indeed discovered now, and there are even groups online that work to crack the code of popular shows that do figure out how to stun us, just because they’re up to the challenge and want to confirm they’ve figured the whole thing out. But despite the fact that it is so hard now to shock an audience through and through… it can still be done… if the writing is truly flawless through and through and for proof… look no further than The Boys on Prime Video. After all, for the past three years, audiences have harbored the belief that this series was nothing more the greatest send up ever of the superhero genre. Courtesy of characters and commentary that spoke to the tropes present in this genre, complete with characters that were unlike any other in the genre. Since the Seven have been host to some wild and twisted characters, the kind that basically reflected the age-old question, what if superheroes were more like the rest of us? Giving rise to some perverse heroes through and through. But as it turns out, this was not just a send up, that was to make us comfortable and immerse us in this world so that Showrunner Eric Kripke and his talented writing staff could shock us with quite the revelation. In that, the show merely used superheroes to make us comfortable so that the show could take a deep dive into the problems of our modern world today. Specifically, the political landscape, the divide that we face in America, and of course… the problem that is Donald J. Trump. All of which was made clear in the season four premiere of the show. For ‘Department of Dirty Tricks’ wasted little time in having The Boys face some harsh realities about their world post-Homelander v Butcher. In that… Supes were now in the highest office possible since Victoria was now the Vice President Elect and to make matters worse, Homelander was in quite the place mentally, and not a good one at that. Mainly because fatherhood and the reality that he is not immortal left him wondering what his legacy was going to be as a superhero.
Which in turn prompted him to believe that perhaps… he should shape the world as he saw fit and use his powers to leave a ‘perfect’ world for his son to inherit. That prompted him to work with Sage, a powerful Supe with an incredible brain to scheme how best, to bring down Democracy to begin to reform the world and that brought about chaos. The kind that resembled a chilly morning in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021, and made it clear… that Homelander is the allegory for Trump and that season four is going to focus heavily on the dangers we face surrounding him and his ilk. Since Homelander made it clear that people like Trumpy-dumpy, who wrap themselves in red, white and blue and make all kinds of claims about loving America and a desire to make it great again, are full of shit, plain and simple.
It's about them, their agenda and they could care less about the rest of us. Which brought about some powerful and refreshing commentary and truly set the stage for a powerhouse season four. One that is clearly going to examine how people are manipulated by these guys through their charms and the true dangers of giving people that think they are invincible from the law and public scrutiny, because they’re so out of touch with the world… all the power they don’t deserve and well, the show has simply been setting this up all along, and that’s amazing. Because we really did not have a clue that this was coming, nor did we really understand the endgame of the show and that’s what good writing can accomplish and that is why we should all be excited for what lies ahead. For now, we are in the midst of a story with incredible depth, and incredible meaning, one that will stand as a complete arc about how we enable and hopefully dismantle, the Homelanders of the world. But while we wait to see how this commentary plays out and how poignant this series will become; we can also celebrate a premiere that harbored a lot of character development moments for our heroes. Since they came to realize there are bigger issues at hand their own problems and concerns, and that those need to be set aside in this moment to stop the madness. All of which will undoubtedly move them to new heights as the fight to save America begins via what is quickly becoming one the most brilliant superhero shows to ever hit the airwaves. Until next time. Watch ‘The Boys’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 203 of ‘We Are Lady Parts’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular unspoken rule that has existed in the creative world for ages, is that new creatives in their respective creative field… are expected to just go with the flow. For once you’ve made it, you have got to play the game and get along to go along and that means… a touch of conformity. Which for most is of no issue, but for some… that sounds awful. Especially for artists that have uncovered success in the most unconventional manner possible. Because that just is not and will never be their style and that means… they have to figure out the best way forward. To appease others while enjoying the success they rightfully deserve. Which comes about, via a trial-and-error process, one that was put on display in the next episode of We Are Lady Parts on Peacock. Because Lady Parts tried to fit in to make a little money in ‘It's Britney Bitch’ and well… that went pretty rotten to say the least. Because while they brought down the house doing Britney Spears cover songs at superfan Steve’s wedding, they really felt this was beneath them. Because they were indie, they were awesome, and this just didn’t seem like the right thing to do. But they needed the cash to get what they wanted and needed, so they did the gig and they met up with Second Wife to also get their hands on another gig. One that would lock up studio time but was also… slimy in their minds. Because Second Wife lined up a photoshoot with a fashion icon and her boutique and so, in order to get that payout as Second Wife’s understudy, because they had no time for the gig, they would have to put on clothes they weren’t used to wearing and do things they weren’t used to doing. Like posing and playing make believe and uh, this was just a bad idea. Plain and simple. In large part, because the group just couldn’t get into the idea of being this kind of role model and this type of band. The sellout if you will, and several members were not good with the clothes they were offered to wear and that led to outright disaster. Wherein the shoot was called off and the band was back to square one, but in the right way, let’s be honest. For now, they knew, they were not this type of band. They couldn’t do the whole conforming thing and they certainly couldn’t just stamp their name and logo on any product. It needed to suit them, and it needed to feel right and well… that put them at a crossroads as to how best to get there and it just so happened that Saira might have an out regarding that. For she was contacted by an agent/manager at the wedding gig. One who sported one amazing resume for indie bands and the unconventional such as Lady Parts, and she promised real money and real success if they signed with her. A tough move that would hurt Taz deeply but might be the only way forward since it would help this band find their niche. Which for them, involved being on stage, and breaking the rules and inspiring an audience. But while we wait to see if Saira will indeed pull the trigger on such a controversial move, we can celebrate another amazing story. One that once again offered education regarding the creative process and what goes into it and what goes into finding the right path forward when a creative has tasted success. Plus, it still found ways to be utterly hilarious. Courtesy of Ayesha’s discovery of fan and slash fiction and how she and Saira were now part of that unique lexicon and well, all this episode does is leave us hungry for more. So, we can see how that forthcoming decision might be what the band badly needs. Until next time. Watch ‘We Are Lady Parts’
