Written by John Edward Betancourt It’s October at last and that means one thing… spooky season is upon us. For now, is when one can put up their decorations without a measure of shame, and/or go out and load up on new decorations. And of course, in between that, we also get… spooky programming on television. Because networks know that now is the time to creep us out with horror stories galore and STARZ has plans to send chills down our spines, and more in the month of October. Because in addition to the scares, and the debut of the dark and twisted series, Sweetpea, they’re also bringing a close to Power Book II: Ghost, while also debuting STARZ’s first ever talk show, Fat Joe Talks, while Three Women continues to tell incredible stories about women. And those will wonderfully bookend the scary stuff since it means there is something for everyone on STARZ in October, and with that that in mind… here is the epic lineup that lie ahead, as we settle in to enjoy the majesty of spooky season. Halloween Horror On STARZ STARZ Original SeriesThe second half of the fourth and final season of “Power Book II: Ghost” concludes on Friday, October 4, at midnight ET on the STARZ app. On linear, it will air on STARZ at 8:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and 9:00 PM ET in Canada on linear. Part one of “Power Book II: Ghost” uncovered unanswered high-stakes questions. Part two of the final season will showcase the adage “Like father, Like son.” Tariq finds himself in an eerily similar situation, just like his late father, Ghost, stuck between a rock and a hard place, with the choice to leave the game or take over. Entrapped by Detective Carter, the Tejada family realizes their safety is not guaranteed. Monet fiercely fights for her family to become whole again, but is it too late? Noma is working her way to the top of the food chain. Meanwhile, her daughter, Anya, gets too close to the game, forcing Noma to think twice about her actions.
“Fat Joe Talks” is hosted and executive produced by the multi-hyphenate Grammy award-nominated artist and cultural icon Fat Joe. In each weekly 30-minute episode, Fat Joe will bring the audience along for intimate conversations and never-told-before stories with some of America’s favorite celebrities and newsmakers who drive the cultural zeitgeist. Fat Joe will engage with his guests in ways that allow them to open up like never before. In recent years, Fat Joe has broadened his work to include everything from podcast host to author to healthcare price transparency reform advocate, proving he is more than a musician. He is a culture staple who loves talking to people from all walks of life, and they love talking to him. Starting October 4, each week, “Fat Joe Talks” will air new episodes at midnight on the STARZ app and at 9:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and 11:00 PM ET in Canada on STARZ with Method Man, award-winning music artist and star of “Power Book II: Ghost" as its inaugural guest. Fat Joe will be the first to capture Method’s reflections on his NAACP Image Award-winning role as Davis MacLean following the closing chapter of the acclaimed series. In addition to Method Man, additional interviewees will include: Oscar-nominated Actress, Grammy and NAACP Award Winner Mary J. Blige, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, actor and award-winning hip hop artist T.I., Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and producer Babyface, as well as appearances by Grammy-nominated hip hop artist Latto, reggae artist Buju Banton and rapper Remy Ma. Airdates and additional guests are to be announced soon.
The six-part series “Sweetpea” stars Ella Purnell as Rhiannon Lewis, a quiet wallflower who develops a vengeful and intoxicatingly liberating taste for murder. At its core, the series is about a woman finally finding her voice, told through a uniquely dark and comedic lens. The series is adapted from C.J. Skuse’s cult novel of the same name. “Sweetpea” premieres Thursday, October 10 at midnight on the STARZ app. On linear, it will debut on STARZ at 8pm ET/PT in the U.S. and on Friday, October 11 at 10pm ET/PT in Canada. The following week, “Sweetpea” will move to Fridays, dropping at midnight on the STARZ app and airing on linear at 8pm ET/PT in the U.S. and 10pm ET/PT in Canada, for the remainder of the season. Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression - people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?
The limited event series “Three Women,” explores a nuanced portrait of female desire through the compellingly raw and honest stories of three women. Starring Shailene Woodley (“Big Little Lies,” The Descendants), Betty Gilpin (“Gaslit,” “GLOW”), DeWanda Wise (“She’s Gotta Have It,” Jurassic World: Dominion), Gabrielle Creevy (“In My Skin,” “The Pact”), Blair Underwood (“In Treatment,” “Impeachment: American Crime Story,” “Your Honor”), Jason Ralph (“The Magicians,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and John Patrick Amedori (“Dear White People,” She Won’t Forget), the series is based on the instant #1 New York Times bestselling book of the same name from literary sensation Lisa Taddeo. “Three Women” will air new episodes all month long on Fridays at midnight on the STARZ app. On linear, new episodes will debut on STARZ at 10:00 PM ET/PT in the U.S. The titular series finds three women on a crash course to radically overturn their lives. Lina (Gilpin), a homemaker in suburban Indiana, is a decade into a passionless marriage when she embarks on an affair that quickly becomes all-consuming and transforms her life. Sloane (Wise), a glamorous entrepreneur in the Northeast, has a committed open marriage with Richard (Underwood), until two sexy new strangers threaten their aspirational love story. Maggie (Creevy), a student in North Dakota, weathers an intense storm after accusing her married English teacher (Ralph) of an inappropriate relationship. Gia (Woodley), a writer grieving the loss of her family, persuades each of these three spectacular "ordinary" women to tell her their stories, and her relationships with them change the course of her life forever.

There were few shows in 2023 that captivated us quite like The Devil’s Hour on Prime Video. In part because the casting was simply sublime with Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine blowing us away with their emotional and raw performances in season one of the series. Not to mention it featured a captivating story that took us on quite the ride. One that truly introduced some fascinating ideas and set the stage for a powerhouse second season that we cannot wait for.
Which is something that Prime Video is aware of and why they offered up quite the gift to fans at their Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers event, today. For earlier Prime Video unveiled the key art and the trailer for season two of the show. One that informs us that the show will dive into its mythos even deeper and further explain Gideon’s incredible understanding, and well, you don’t have to take our word for it. For Prime Video was kind enough to share the trailer with us, and we will share it with you now, and more, as we continue to count down the minutes to year two of this refreshing series. ‘Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for the second season of psychological thriller, The Devil’s Hour. The second season will launch exclusively on Prime Video globally on Friday, October 18th. The series stars Jessica Raine (Patrick Melrose, Informer), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It), Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso) and Meera Syal (Yesterday, Goodness Gracious Me). Saffron Hocking (Top Boy) also joins the cast for season two. The series will launch exclusively in over 240 countries and territories. The Devil’s Hour Season Two sees Lucy (Jessica Raine) and Gideon (Peter Capaldi) forming an uneasy alliance in order to prevent a recurring tragedy and hunt down an elusive monster. Lucy’s double life sees her torn between family and duty as she finds herself in the crosshairs of her past-life husband, DI Ravi Dhillon (Nikesh Patel). Assisting Dhillon in his investigation is DS Sam Boyd (Saffron Hocking) who was mentored by DI Lucy Chambers in a previous life. Meanwhile, Isaac (Benjamin Chivers) is discovering new emotions every day and struggling to keep his balance in a reality that rejects his existence. Fresh mysteries unfold as our stories converge on one explosive moment that will change the fate of our characters for the rest of their ever-recurring lives. Speaking at Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers earlier today, Jessica Raine said: “Season two answers lingering questions from Season one, offering a thrilling experience filled with hidden Easter eggs. The audience becomes the detective, piecing together a jigsaw puzzle which you have to keep watching. If you really concentrate, you are rewarded, and the reward is truly satisfying - like completing a 2000-piece jigsaw puzzle.” The second season is produced by award-winning Hartswood Films (Dracula, Sherlock). All five episodes are written and created by Tom Moran and the executive producers are Sue Vertue, Tom Moran and Steven Moffat. The series is produced by Lawrence Till (Douglas is Cancelled). The series directed by Johnny Allan and Shaun James Grant . The mind-bending thriller has already been commissioned for a third and final season, with filming wrapping at Shepperton Studios earlier in the year. We are but days away from the next chapter in the Citadel saga and the excitement is truly building. For now, we know that Citadel: Diana will be a worthy entry in the franchise, one filled to the brim with the intrigue and wonder the flagship series gave us, and action of course. Tons of delicious action that is as impressive as the characters and the world they inhabit. In fact, the action will be so good in this series, that Prime Video simply could not wait in revealing its wonder.
For earlier, Prime Video released an action-packed clip from Citadel: Diana during Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers. An important celebration of women on and off the screen. One where series lead Matilda De Angelis was present to discuss important matters regarding the action heroine and of course, to present the clip we are going to share with you now, along with details of this event, so you can continue one exciting countdown to one exciting series. ‘Prime Video has released a high-octane new clip from Citadel: Diana, the upcoming Italian spy series born from the world of Citadel. The clip debuted during Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers, a celebration of the women on and off-screen at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. Matilda De Angelis sat down alongside Bryce Dallas Howard (Deep Cover) and Maria Sten (Reacher) to discuss the reinvention of the action genre and the importance of the action heroine within Prime Video’s slate. All six episodes of Citadel: Diana will premiere worldwide on October 10 exclusively on Prime Video. The new clip offers a sneak peek at the upcoming series and sees Diana (Matilda de Angelis) hunting her opponent in a high-octane action sequence set against the Cretto di Gibellina in Sicily, a stunning gigantic land artwork by Alberto Burri. Citadel: Diana is an Italian twist on the spy genre – a character-driven spy story with action, featuring approximately 850 stunts, hundreds of cars, high tech spy gadgets, and adrenaline fuelled scenes like that seen in this clip, which features a nearly 450mt. long zip-line flight. Matilda De Angelis shot spectacular action sequences across the series, performing most of her stunts herself following intensive strength training, choreography, and martial arts with Citadel: Diana stunt coordinator Emiliano Novelli. Speaking at Prime Video Presents: Trailblazers, Matilda shared: “I went through four months of training, I wanted to be able to do most of my stunts. I have a past as a gymnast, so when I had the chance to do something that felt natural to me, I did. We don't get the chance as much in Italy, as an Italian actress, to perform action and to be a part of something this big and challenging. I really saw it as an opportunity of growth for myself. I wanted to kick ass, so I did it – Italian style!” Citadel: Diana is the highly anticipated Italian series borne from the world of Citadel, produced by Cattleya – part of ITV Studios – and Amazon MGM Studios, and executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. Citadel: Diana stars Matilda De Angelis (The Undoing) in a tour de force performance as the central character and also features an international cast, including Lorenzo Cervasio, Maurizio Lombardi, Julia Piaton, Thekla Reuten, Giordana Faggiano, Daniele Paoloni, Bernhard Schütz and Filippo Nigro. Comcast to Celebrate Black Fine Art Month with Release of Docuseries, ‘Who’s Behind Black Art’10/1/2024 Written by John Edward Betancourt
It is definitely safe to say that our modern world has a unique relationship with art. In that, while we celebrate it, we cherish it, and we of course… place it in galleries so that people can enjoy its wonder and ponder upon its meaning… we don’t give it all that much thought beyond that. But we should. Because there is so much more to how art is created, and the artist that put it together has stories to tell about it and they too should be celebrated. Especially when one considers that art comes from all walks of life and experiences that we know so little of.
Which is why today’s announcement from Comcast/Xfinity is of note. Because they let it be known that they will be celebrating the true wonder of art and its creation, courtesy of an important docuseries designed to celebrate Black Fine Art Month, entitled Who’s Behind Black Art. A four-part docuseries that showcases five emerging black artists and the journey they embark upon as they create and prepare to showcase their amazing art. Which will give us amazing insight in the creation of art, and well, to properly offer this incredible docuseries the justice it deserves, here are all the details on this amazing series, and a trailer, courtesy of Comcast. ‘Today, Comcast celebrates Black Fine Art Month (October) with the premiere of Who’s Behind Black Art, a four-part docuseries that explores the lives of five emerging artists navigating the industry and their journey to create a unique exhibition. The artists are also part of the “Good Black Art” community, the only platform of its kind fully dedicated to supporting emerging Black artists founded by Philip Collins. The documentary series unfolds in four parts. The first two parts give viewers the opportunity to get acquainted with and appreciate the individuals behind the remarkable works of art. Part three features a roundtable conversation with some of the most knowledgeable, diverse, and dynamic experts and celebrities representing every part of the art ecosystem including Founder of Cierra Britton Gallery, Cierra Britton, Memphis Grizzlies Owner, Former NBA Star and Art Collector, Elliot Perry, Art Collector and Philanthropist, Dr. V. Joy Simmons, Co-founder of ArtNoir, Larry Ossei-Mensah, Kickstarter CEO and former CMO of Artsy, Everette Taylor, among others. These 14 special guests and contributors are incredible examples of what support for emerging artists looks like in today’s art market. Lastly, part four takes viewers along for the exhibition’s opening for all five artists’ work at the World Trade Center in New York City. “We are committed to creating spaces where representation truly matters, and featuring Who's Behind Black Art exclusively on the Black Experience on Xfinity channel is just one of many ways we bring that vision to life,” said Loren Hudson, SVP and Chief Diversity Officer, Connectivity and Platforms, Comcast. “We are thrilled to partner with writer and director John Campbell in sharing the stories of the five incredible artists featured in the film, on our platform, which highlights the diverse talents of creators and celebrates the richness of Black culture.” “Often the conversation about art focuses on world-renowned artists,” says writer/director John Campbell. “Who’s Behind Black Art gives you early insight into the struggles, challenges and triumphs of five very different young artists with big hopes and dreams for their future. How ‘Cutting Promos’ Showcases the Grind That Dreamers Endure
‘All right, so streaming’s the key. We want to build out our YouTube Channel with a high-quality streaming broadcast. That’s—that’s the hook.’
Often times, stories that explore the wonder of chasing our dreams feature quite the unique path to the top. Wherein the character that wants to be more, runs into only a handful of obstacles, and perhaps one big one before finally… getting to live their outright dream. Which is a move that genuinely brings the audience great joy. Since it speaks to how chasing our dreams will energize us and push us and allow for us to focus on the big prize over anything else, and of course… we shall overcome because the dream and our desire to claim it will conquer all. But while that energizes an audience and does provide us with a feel-good story for the ages. Make no mistake about it, that particular storytelling path also does the pursuit of the dream and the audience a great disservice.
Because there is so much more to the pursuit of our dreams, and a lot of moments left upon the table. For in between the big moments and the progress made, and the celebration point, there is a lot of downtime. Lots of dreaming of that better tomorrow, and of course… a grind. Because in order for us to get noticed, or get moving, we have to hustle, we have to work and that is why the next episode of Heels is of note. Because ‘Cutting Promos’ showcases that particular struggle through and through and it is wonderful that it took the time to do that. So that we can really see how the path to the top works, and it accomplished this exploration, by taking a better part of the episode to showcase the grind and all it entails in great detail. For instance, Crystal and Bobby’s journey in this episode, really spotlighted how much thought and work goes into a person’s dream, and how much the dreamer sometimes relies upon others to help them focus when their dreams are big. Which we don’t give much thought to, but we should. Because big dreams require planning and require so much work and those that do succeed, are the ones who spend hours upon hours planning every little detail and nuance, and this story backed that up. Because eventually, Bobby Pin found his path forward as a character and understood how best to become a better wrestler that the fans will embrace. Thanks to that hard work and thanks to the grind that all dreamers must endure.
But of course, that’s a more positive ending to that aspect of the grind, and sadly… it isn’t that great for everyone else, as evidenced by Jack’s journey in this story. Because he knew the time was now to start pulling in some funding. In part because of the fire that hit the house, but also because… the league was hot, and he knew he needed capital to move his dream forward. So, he set out to land sponsorships, to sell the sizzle of his plans, and well, as is often the case in real life for folks like Jack, he hit a brick wall at every turn. Because no one wanted to hand over the money, not without some better understanding of how they would get a return on their investment, and that… really is how the grind goes. It harbors a lot of ‘no’ and a lot of disappointment, but that doesn’t stop the dreamer from dreaming and figuring out a way forward to get what they want.
Which this episode was quick to showcase as well. Since Jack and Ace figured out how to rent the local gas station for an hour to make that promo. To show Gully and his boys they could compete and show others… that they were a viable product. Which explored the grind beautifully, and all these elements would have been able to carry this story from beginning to end. But this episode had to more explore. In that, it also showcased that part of the grind… is living. Because life goes on while we dream and work toward the top, and that was handled by way of the family tension the Spades dealt with over Carol’s lingering guilt and pain from losing her husband, and through Wild Bill. Who crossed a lot of lines and paid dearly for that, because consequences don’t end in our pursuit of the dream, which for Bill clearly involves finding some measure of respect and recognition. All of which brought forth, a wonderfully brilliant episode. One that truly showcased what actually happens when we chase our dreams, and how hard a process it is, and how… the grind is what separates the true believers from the casual. But what matters more about this tale, is its willingness to dive into such real-life matters. Because that speaks to the fact that Creator Michael Waldron, Showrunner Mike O’Malley, and his writing team and this incredible cast… really wanted to create a show for everyone. One that really examined life in a frank and powerful manner and well, this episode is another shining of example of how they accomplished that mission and how deep this series will go. Since it also tapped into musings on suicide, and grief, and loss, all stuff we deal with in some capacity in life and that also… leaves one eager to continue the journey. To learn more about the dream, and life via, by way of these earnest wrestlers chasing their dreams. Until next time. Watch ‘Heels’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Nine of ‘The Anonymous’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular golden rule that everyone must abide by when playing any kind of game, is that one must remember, it is only a game. It is but a competition, and one cannot take things personal. Because to do so can create mistakes and bring about emotional decisions and thus far, it is a rule that the contestants of The Anonymous have abided by. Because they do indeed use the chat to bend the game to their will and strategize and do their best to keep personal moments out of it. But that all changed during this week’s episode of the show. Because one stunning elimination to open up ‘Silent Mode’ outright shook everyone up. Because Jack, a man who has enjoyed the title of The Anonymous multiple times and seemed on pace to win the game… was sent home by Victoria. Who won The Anonymous this past week, and well… that rattled everyone. Andy for instance, was torn asunder that his friend and ally was gone, and he was in awe of how well Jack played the game, and truly… the vibe following his exit was sour. Because his exit, and Xavier’s really hammered home then nature of the game, and how a single moment or decision can change everything. Since it could be inferred that Jack’s push to get Victoria out, could have helped motivate her toward her decision. But speculation aside, since Victoria spoke to removing a strong competitor over anything else, what mattered more… was the fallout of this. Because so many took this personal and were thrown off by Jack’s very emotional exit and that led, to the spiciest chat to date. Where gut feelings about who might have done this and a push to move people considered to be weaker competitors out, made the chat a little more personal and direct. Which led to fury for Dillian. Who was put up with Christopher for elimination because some felt he was the one who sent Jack home, and really wanted to hammer home his lack of production in their eyes. So, to answer that surprise… Dillian went into silent mode and gave everyone a taste of what life would be like without him as a bold and intense strategy to stay. One that was also quite personal in nature. All of which spoke to an emotional turn for the game, one that was slowed… by another surprise filled Face-Off. Wherein DANI let it be known that those who weren’t up for elimination, would be up there with Dillian and Christopher, without the wonder of the ‘Safe’ box. Which gave rise to a little bit of focus, because no one wanted an ‘At Risk’ box. Giving us that slice of normalcy we crave, and another wondrous battle royale from the Face-Off, which is always fun. But it did not last. Because the push to become The Anonymous resulted in a lot of planning and scheming and well, we will see next week if gamesmanship wins the day or if personal beliefs and gut feelings will rule the finale. Because it seems that The Anonymous was handed to either Andy or Nima. So, if Dillian is sent packing, that means… Andy and a personal vendetta ruled the day. Because he promised to make Dillian pay for Jack, since he believed that was who was responsible for sending his friend packing. But if he stays, then Nima will right the game and put it back on track. But while we wait to see how that plays out, we can celebrate one epic leg of the competition. One that showed the wear and tear this game is having emotionally on these hearty contestants and one that brought about some real spice and some piping hot tea. And well, it will be interesting to see if this conflict and frustration only grows when we settle in for the season finale of the show, come next week. Until then. Watch ‘The Anonymous’

One particular ending that comes forth often in medical shows that feature a brilliant doctor that solves mysteries of the body… is the delightfully happy one. For these shows firmly believe the doctor must triumph and must find out what’s wrong in the nick of time to save the patient. So that they can live, our hero doctor can find fulfillment and so the audience enjoys what is in essence, perfect escapist television. Because we know deep down that sometimes people suffer without answers or spend years trying to find them because of insurance issues, and uncaring doctors and other mitigating factors. So, it brings us comfort to see a medical world where answers happen, and people are always properly healed. Which is why this week’s episode of Brilliant Minds on NBC is of note. For ‘The Disembodied Woman’ offered up some of the harsh realities of the medical world that these stories normally avoid. Such as how so many are quick to ignore the possibility that strange and sudden symptoms and odd behavior might be more than dark times. Since Dana and Ericka came to discover that a college student who saw dragons wasn’t just having long-term symptoms from a bad dose of hallucinogens. He had a major issue with his brain, something that could have killed him. But because they cared and were tasked with finding more answers to his case… he was saved. Which, at first seems to be a standard happy ending, but he was merely the secondary case present in this tale. One designed to reinforce the importance of really caring. Because while the team was exploring his health, Dr. Wolf was dealing with quite the unique case. In that, a former WNBA superstar named, Jessie Williams, was suddenly afraid of surgery. For she believed that something bad would happen. Because a vivid dream was haunting her day and night and had her feeling as though she was losing touch with reality and her own body, and that would lead to trouble on the table. But despite running every test known to man, there were no surprises or physical maladies. In fact, outside of her retiring from the league, she had nothing to report or offer when it came to life changes or anything that might cause her body harm. Leaving the good doctor perplexed, and gravely worried. Because eventually, she began to lose control of her faculties and eventually, began to lose hold of her life. Which prompted Wolf to think beyond the manuals and the tests and simply think upon simple solutions. Which brought him back to his past, and his early days of learning medicine. Because the fundamentals were all that could come to mind here, and he realized through his reflections of the basics… that perhaps talking to a former player as a coach and tasking her with fighting back as a player or someone learning a new skillset might help, and it did. For it gave her something to fight toward, it gave her control. Which also sounds akin to a happy ending, but it was more bittersweet than anything else. Because there was no answer for her ailment, and she had a long road ahead when it came to healing. But she was alive, and she was moving, because of the fact that a doctor deeply cared for her and her well-being, and her future. All of which gave rise to a powerful story. One that truly did remind us of the hard truth that medicine doesn’t always give us all the answers to our ailments because of how unique our bodies and minds are, and that so many are forgotten because there are no easy answers. But a little care and a little understanding can go a long way in helping those folks regardless. Because everyone deserves that, and it was lovely to see kindness play out and to learn more about Wolf’s past and relationship with his mother. In fact, there’s clearly so much more to explore there, since Muriel inferred her little Mugwump might need more help in being the best doctor he can be, and that it might relate to why she considers this job his last chance, and that will make the wait for next week’s episode all the more difficult. Because this series continues to deliver incredible explorations on how we lift one another up and support one another in ways we don’t normally think of, and we absolutely all want more of that. Until next time. Watch ‘Brilliant Minds’
