One particular unspoken rule that has existed in the creative world for ages, is that new creatives in their respective creative field… are expected to just go with the flow. For once you’ve made it, you have got to play the game and get along to go along and that means… a touch of conformity. Which for most is of no issue, but for some… that sounds awful. Especially for artists that have uncovered success in the most unconventional manner possible. Because that just is not and will never be their style and that means… they have to figure out the best way forward. To appease others while enjoying the success they rightfully deserve. Which comes about, via a trial-and-error process, one that was put on display in the next episode of We Are Lady Parts on Peacock. Because Lady Parts tried to fit in to make a little money in ‘It's Britney Bitch’ and well… that went pretty rotten to say the least. Because while they brought down the house doing Britney Spears cover songs at superfan Steve’s wedding, they really felt this was beneath them. Because they were indie, they were awesome, and this just didn’t seem like the right thing to do. But they needed the cash to get what they wanted and needed, so they did the gig and they met up with Second Wife to also get their hands on another gig. One that would lock up studio time but was also… slimy in their minds. Because Second Wife lined up a photoshoot with a fashion icon and her boutique and so, in order to get that payout as Second Wife’s understudy, because they had no time for the gig, they would have to put on clothes they weren’t used to wearing and do things they weren’t used to doing. Like posing and playing make believe and uh, this was just a bad idea. Plain and simple. In large part, because the group just couldn’t get into the idea of being this kind of role model and this type of band. The sellout if you will, and several members were not good with the clothes they were offered to wear and that led to outright disaster. Wherein the shoot was called off and the band was back to square one, but in the right way, let’s be honest. For now, they knew, they were not this type of band. They couldn’t do the whole conforming thing and they certainly couldn’t just stamp their name and logo on any product. It needed to suit them, and it needed to feel right and well… that put them at a crossroads as to how best to get there and it just so happened that Saira might have an out regarding that. For she was contacted by an agent/manager at the wedding gig. One who sported one amazing resume for indie bands and the unconventional such as Lady Parts, and she promised real money and real success if they signed with her. A tough move that would hurt Taz deeply but might be the only way forward since it would help this band find their niche. Which for them, involved being on stage, and breaking the rules and inspiring an audience. But while we wait to see if Saira will indeed pull the trigger on such a controversial move, we can celebrate another amazing story. One that once again offered education regarding the creative process and what goes into it and what goes into finding the right path forward when a creative has tasted success. Plus, it still found ways to be utterly hilarious. Courtesy of Ayesha’s discovery of fan and slash fiction and how she and Saira were now part of that unique lexicon and well, all this episode does is leave us hungry for more. So, we can see how that forthcoming decision might be what the band badly needs. Until next time. Watch ‘We Are Lady Parts’
