Written by Scott Edwards House and pet sitting is something that I loved doing in my younger years. Only being responsible for the place for a few days at most, it was just fun to sit back on someone else’s couch and watch TV or read a book while their dog would be outside doing its business. But this job comes with a ton of intrigue, as you are tempted to find out who these people really are. While never going through areas of the house I was not supposed to, I will admit that I was overly tempted to check it out, because the more you know about someone, the better you know them. Best friends Ryan and Jack are living on the top of the world, mainly because they have a cool internet channel named ‘Boo Ya’ where they get to prank members of their family. But this is something that Ryan’s mom is not happy about since her son is always filming everything around the house looking for something funny to post. Yet Ryan does not care and since his mother is hardly ever around the house anymore, he can get away with doing whatever he wants. Things are about to change however after Ryan gets a house-sitting job that will open a doorway to a place he never wanted to go. Agreeing to house and bird sit for Dottie Porter, Ryan has also been made into a house slave and needs to clean everything in the house to get his paycheck. While watching and recording his friend working, Jack spots the home’s attic and wants to take a couple minutes to check it out. Climbing up into the dark attic, the boys find all sorts of treasures hidden away from the world and even find out that the house was owned by someone that made their living on EBay. But there is something else in the attic, a creepy doll sitting in the corner that goes by the name Heidi and she wants to play. Kicking the doll from her chair before leaving, Jack has no idea what he has done in disrespecting the doll and what she is capable of. Reviewing the footage from the attic, Ryan spots something strange, as the doll seems to have moved on its own. Trying to convince Jack that there is something creepy about it, the prankster pays it little mind. But when making fun of his little brother, a ball comes bouncing down the stairs leading up to his room and he finds Heidi sitting on his bed. Believing that he is being pranked by Ryan, Jack returns the doll to his friend who had nothing to do with it. Tossing the doll in his closet for the time being, Ryan listens to the news and hears that Dottie has been killed in her house, along with the bird. Ryan believes that there is something creepy about the doll that he is keeping in the house, but he has no idea what Heidi is really capable of until the bodies start to pile up. This horror film features your everyday creepy doll that craves attention and blood. I liked the creepiness of Heidi’s eyes, it seems like she is always staring at you throughout the movie and since I don’t like dolls at all, it freaked me out. The story was overall very fun, as the friends and family all get a bit of the action. But where the movie really started to come together is when Heidi started writing notes to the boys and made sure they were aware that she wanted to play. I wondered throughout the movie that if someone would actually roll her ball back to her, would they be safe from Heidi’s wrath? I guess we will never know, unless of course we get a possessed doll sequel and that would not be a bad idea at all. With plenty of found footage, an escape artist doll, a cousin that is afraid of creepy dolls, a murder mystery, a love story and a missing dog that will just make you bawl your eyes out, this is a very entertaining movie that will make you think twice about having one of these dolls sitting anywhere near you when you sleep. Stay Scared.

Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers Episode 1103 of ‘The Walking Dead’. Over the course of the past eleven seasons, we’ve seen the good people that populate the world of The Walking Dead, face some extreme challenges. For there have been moments where they’ve been low on hope and food and anything resembling comfort. Plus, they’ve also dealt with dangers untold, the kind that made it appear that more than a couple of them would lose their lives in dealing with the living dead or the human monsters that populate the world following the end of civilization. But through it all, they found something positive to hold onto, something to drive them forward to win the battle that lie ahead or to forge through the nightmare of living death surrounding them. Which in turn gives the audience hope that this group of intrepid survivors will hang on and find a better tomorrow, which is all the viewers have ever wanted for them. But the times, they are a changing. Because following the end of the brutal and devastating Whisperer War, something fundamentally horrifying is happening on this series. In that, the hope that once permeated the core of this group is beginning to fade, as is the resolve and moxie they’ve always found buried deep within. Because more and more, we are seeing them reside within some dark places mentally, and we are seeing them struggle mightily with losses that they were once quick to resolve when the going got tough. If anything, it is outright safe to say that we are seeing this group at their absolute lowest and perhaps for the first time ever, their breaking point and it just so happens that last night’s episode of the show only pushed them further to the brink. For ‘Hunted’ saw the people of Alexandria and Maggie’s retrieval group deal with new emotional challenges, the kind that put them in a supremely dark place and in Maggie’s case, that was accomplished through fear and hopelessness. For in the opening moments of this particular tale, the all-out assault from the Reapers immediately scattered the group to the wind, leaving everyone to their own devices and attempts at safety and that ended in mixed results. Since Maggie didn’t see another soul for a little while and when she did finally reunite with people of note, it was with a badly wounded Alden and Negan himself and that put Maggie in quite the sour place, since she was stuck with someone she could not stand and didn’t know what to do help Alden. Plus, to complicate matters further, every encounter with more of her old friends from Meridian ended in sorrow. For they were wounded or devoured by the living dead, and her struggles only got worse from there. Since Alden was beginning to slow the group down, leaving her with a tough and heartbreaking decision to make. In that, she could either continue to drag Alden along with her and Negan… or leave him somewhere safe to heal and that really didn’t sit well with her at all. Because it risked leaving him to die and she was no longer comfortable with the numbers game. But deep down she knew what she needed to do in order to complete the mission and left Alden behind to forge ahead with Negan and well, this, and Father Gabriel’s brief and harrowing appearance genuinely hammered home how close the folks on this mission are to their breaking point. However, while that brought about some powerful and bleak moments, the kind that genuinely left us worried about the fate of everyone on this mission, there was more suffering and hopelessness to be found in this tale, as evidenced by what went down in Alexandria. For while Maggie played God and Gabriel renounced the Lord… Carol appeared to be working toward something positive. Because it dawned upon her that part of the reason food stores was in such a bad place was because everyone was working too hard and needed animal related assistance for some of the tasks around town, in order to conserve energy and food. Which motivated her to venture out with a small group to find the horses that ran off when Beta attacked, in the hopes of giving everyone a touch of hope and positivity and despite running into some challenges along the way, she was mostly successful in her endeavors. Because they did indeed find some of their horses and they did manage to bring them home safely and get them ready for a little hard labor. Which made it appear as though there was going to be a bright spot after all and hints of what once was on this series. But alas, even a bright moment such of this, was sullied by the desperate situation surrounding these good people. Because Carol was still aware of the fact that everyone behind the walls of Alexandria was damn near starvation and needed something to eat and quick. Which is why she slaughtered one of those good and decent animals, just so that everyone had the opportunity to go to bed with a full belly for a change and well, that really was heartbreaking to watch. Since it spoke volumes to how little hope they have right now, and how they have no choice but to go to extremes in order to survive. If anything, this was simply a devastating episode to watch through and through, largely because we really haven’t ever seen these good people suffer and struggle in this manner. But this is where we are right now, and this really is a bold decision storytelling wise. For it truly is horrific to watch and makes this world dangerous and terrifying on a whole new level, since we’ve learned time and time again that people that are out of sorts or desperate in this world tend to make bad decisions or mistakes. The kind that could cost them their lives, leaving all of us to wonder if real heartbreak is waiting around the corner. But while we wait to see if that is the case, we can definitely revel in the majesty of one intense and incredible tale, one filled to the brim with stunning performances to sell the darkness because everyone was on their acting game here. Plus, this episode also deserves a round of applause, for taking the time to offer up a grand homage to a true zombie classic. For a great deal of this tale was a tribute to George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, courtesy of the stop at the mall that Maggie made and by way of the overall aesthetic of this particular tale. Since this writer couldn’t help but notice that this episode was filmed in a 1970s style, one that resembled Dawn through and through and kudos to director Frederick E.O. Toye for taking the time to sneak that 70s zombie vibe into this particular story and for assembling a story that leaves us eager for more. For we still don’t have a clue if the rest of the retrieval group is okay and whether or not Maggie or Negan can work together with their history and that likely means we will be counting down the minutes until next Sunday’s tale… to see if the group can finally put an end to their losing streak and enjoy a shred of happiness and hope. Until next time. Written by Scott Edwards It is easy to get caught up in stories about hidden treasure, enough that you might think that it is a good idea to join the hunt. With so many people burying money in the strangest of places over the last five hundred years and very little of it being found, well, your chance may be as good as any to bring it back to the light. But these hunts do come with a cost as many people have found out and while you can be as careful as possible, there is still the chance that you will get lost or something worse could happen. If you are going to partake on these hunts, just remember that there have been many people who have tried and failed before you and finding out what happened to them may be more important than finding the treasure itself. Treasure hunting partners Jack and Kent are on their way to look for the infamous treasure of ‘Thunderclap’ Newman. With more information than anyone prior to them has had before, they are sure that they will be able to find it and retire from their daily jobs. Making their way deeper into the jungle than any hunter has before, the two are shocked to see that their information was right, but things quickly change as Jack becomes the target of now his ex-partner. Trying to drown Jack in the river, Kent gets distracted by something large looming in the surrounding woods and takes a look while Jack is able to move down stream without being noticed. Running into a park ranger, Jack begs Rhiannon to call in to the office to get the police out and have Kent arrested for attempted murder. Being too far into the jungle and having no signal, Rhiannon quickly gets caught up in the battle for dollars that the two men are fighting for. Leading Kent away from the treasure that has resurfaced, Jack has a plan for himself and his new friend, but while hiking to where the treasure might be, Rhiannon spots a massive sleeping area that indicates that they are not in the jungle on their own. Not being able to identify the creature by the markings, the three are introduced to a massive creature who has made its way back home. Knowing that it is a him or me situation, Jack is able to knock Kent down and while the park ranger and treasure hunter run away, Kent is faced with a very real situation on his hands. Being able to barely escape the creature’s clutches with his bottle opener, Kent makes his way back into the jungle only to find that there is a cop waiting for him. With so many people going missing in the jungle, Detective McNab sees the blood on the man and believes that he has located the killer in the woods who has taken many lives over the past couple of months. Trying to call it in, McNab becomes the next victim of the Yowie (Bigfoot) creature and Kent is left to fend for himself. Knowing that there is only one way for survival, the former friends and park ranger must make it out of the jungle before they become just another missing person of the massive park. You know, I do like a good Bigfoot movie, no matter where it is set and this one really piqued my interest by adding a treasure hunt to the mix. The story starts off pretty quick and the Yowie is front and center for everyone to see. What I don’t understand is the greed in the movie, while it seems like the characters are afraid of the Yowie when it is around, they don’t seem to mind it when it is not and focus only on the treasure. With a Yowie, guns, spears, a river, some blood, fights and missing limbs, this is not a movie you want to take too seriously, but it is fun, nonetheless. Stay Scared. Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers for the motion picture, ‘Superhost’. One thing that we can all agree upon, is that the internet has outright changed the world. Because not only are we able to access the compendium of human knowledge on a moment’s notice, but we can communicate with people all around the globe, and being able to reach people on a moment’s notice… has allowed for a new breed of stars to be born. For bloggers and vloggers can now reach the masses with their words and their thoughts whenever they feel like it, giving them a voice and a fan base, they never would have had in the dark ages before wi-fi and that really is quite the impressive feat. One that sadly… does come with its own set of drawbacks. Because trouble has accompanied all the wonder the internet has brought forth. Since it is also a rampant place for misinformation and lies and heartless and disgusting rhetoric. Plus, it has also made egotistical monsters out of everyday people. For now, ‘influencers’ believe their posts matter more than what everyday heroes do in the world and they have no problem with using their clout to damage the reputation of a business, if they don’t receive the care and love they believe they deserve and well… that does leave one to wonder what it will take put a little humility into the hearts of those who believe they are internet gods. And it just so happens… that a new film on Shudder explores that very question in an extreme manner in Superhost. Now in this particular film we are introduced to a loving couple made up of Claire and Teddy who are filled with energy and joy, and it makes sense as to why. For this power couple is living the good life since they travel the country and vlog about it on their popular online video channel. But when we catch up with them here, it quickly becomes apparent the joy and energy they display… is nothing more than a façade. Because their channel is not as popular as it once was and is shedding viewers quickly and that is stressing them out like never before. But there is some semblance of hope on the horizon. For a prime location that should please their viewers finally has a spot open for them, but little do they know that the host of this vacation destination is harboring some dark secrets, the kind that will change the course of Claire and Teddy’s vlogging career in a manner they never expected. Which is the perfect plot to put the darker side of pursuing online fame on display. Because Claire and Teddy have indeed been transformed by finding fame with vlogging, to the point where the quality of their channel doesn’t matter in the slightest, just the clicks and views and revenue and that’s made them sour and hollow individuals. The kind that flirts with using their power and influence to get what they need and really, their journey and their uncomfortable personalities really are scathing satire on the influencer and the power vlogger and how they’ve outright lost touch with reality and what matters in life. Which makes this quite the poignant film for certain. However, while that part of the film is indeed fascinating and relevant, Claire and Teddy’s raging egos really don’t present an exploration, as to how exactly to give people obsessed with internet fame some semblance of humility. But oddly enough, it is the horror elements present in this tale that accomplishes that. Because even though their host, Rebecca, is a bloodthirsty murderer, in addition to being an outright psychopath; her desire to end anyone that learns the truth about her… does in fact teach our anti-heroes quite the important lesson in humility. For she stands as quite the allegory, one that serves to remind us that society has helped to create this new wave of monsters by coddling them and giving them the attention, they crave. So, if by chance, we took a moment to be a little more direct like Rebecca (without the murdering) and point out the toxic behaviors these influencers create… then perhaps they’ll be a little more inclined to not be so egotistical and awful. If anything, all of these elements make this an outright brilliant horror film. One that offers up unique and refreshing commentary on a part of our society we more or less ignore and likely shouldn’t since this is a problem, one that enables bad behavior for certain. But for those everyday fans that are concerned that this is nothing more than elevated horror, the kind that doesn’t offer what every horror fan loves and adores, have no fear… the good stuff is present here. Because Rebecca is a bloodthirsty villain for certain, one that has no problem with slicing someone up when it suits her needs. Which means the kills are simply stunning in this tale, and Rebecca’s madness does indeed offer the right kind of levity in the right moment so that the ugly stuff never becomes overpowering. Plus, you can never go wrong with a horror flick that features a legend, since Barbara Crampton’s cameo here is impactful and powerful and well, in the end, this really is quite the engaging horror film for certain. One that definitely stays with you thanks to its whip smart commentary and quality gore and scares. So, if you’re in the mood for an intelligent horror flick that also knows how to please and entertain, then swing by Shudder when you have a little time and give Superhost a look. It is definitely safe to say that the first season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond not only did a wonderful job of exploring some fascinating aspects of the human condition, but it also excelled at building all kinds of excitement for a potential crossover with other elements and characters from The Walking Dead Universe. After all, the CRM has managed to sneak its way into The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead on a regular basis, so it only made sense that eventually, big names and places from sister shows would find their way into this unique limited series.
Well as it turns out, our excitement was warranted and is about to pay off at last. For earlier today, AMC Networks announced that Pollyanna McIntosh, who played the enigmatic ‘Jadis’ on The Walking Dead, will be reprising her role in the final season of World Beyond, adding gravity and continuity to the CRM’s already mysterious mission all while giving us a big-time crossover and well… what’s amazing is that AMC had more World Beyond goodies to offer up alongside that news. Because AMC released brand new Key Art for the final season of this show and an extended trailer that shows you… well, rather than spoil that here, how about instead… we provide you with more details on Pollyanna’s return to The Walking Dead Universe and the art and the trailer itself, as we begin the countdown to the second and final season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond. ‘AMC announced today that The Walking Dead’s Pollyanna McIntosh has joined the cast of The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s ten-episode second season premiering October 3 at 10:00p.m. ET/9c on AMC with all episodes available one week early on AMC+, beginning September 26. McIntosh will reprise her role as “Jadis,” a fan favorite from the Walking Dead. Co-created by Scott M. Gimple and Showrunner Matt Negrete, The Walking Dead: World Beyond also stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella, Joe Holt, Jelani Alladin, Natalie Gold, and Ted Sutherland. “We are thrilled to have the terrific Pollyanna McIntosh back as Jadis, and we’re excited for viewers to see how she collides with the characters in this part of the Universe,” said Gimple. “In our story, years have passed -- we’ll get hints of what happened with that fateful helicopter ride and learn Jadis has new allies and alliances; she is a big part of connecting the CRM and Three Circles mythology that’s seen throughout all three series. We can’t wait to share it all with fans of the TWDU,” said Gimple. “I love the character of Jadis and I love this world so getting to inhabit her again in collaboration with the talented team at The Walking Dead: World Beyond in beautiful Richmond, Virginia was a joy. I hope audiences will catch up with the first season now so they can fully enjoy this epic final season in October,” said McIntosh. Season two of The Walking Dead: World Beyond concludes the epic story of Iris (Royale), Hope (Mansour), Elton (Cantu), and Silas (Cumpston) -- four friends who journeyed across the country on a mission that transformed everything they knew about themselves and the world. As they face off against the mysterious Civic Republic Military and fight for control of their own destiny, goals will shift, bonds will form and crumble, and innocence will be both lost and found. Produced and distributed by AMC Studios, the series is executive produced by Co-Creators Gimple and Showrunner Negrete, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, and Brian Bockrath.’ Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Five of ‘Slasher: Flesh & Blood’. It is definitely safe to say, that the vast majority of us out there, believe ourselves to be infallible. For we genuinely maintain that our moral core is as pure as they come and if we were ever put in a situation where that was tested and pushed to the breaking point… we would pass that test and come out of the other side with our morals and dignity intact. But while that is a thought that gives us great comfort and strength, the fact of the matter is… we honestly don’t know how we will respond in a moment that tests us in that manner. Nor can we guarantee we will remain pure in doing so. Simply because those tests are far and few between in life, or nonexistent and we tend to not acknowledge the situations where we quickly and comfortably make morally dubious decisions based upon our emotions in the moment. Plus, the fact that good people cross the line and make the news in regard to their desperate actions… speaks volumes to the fact that we can in fact be corrupted. So really, the bigger question at hand is what drives that corruption and how far one has to be pressed in order to embrace it and well, that’s relevant to our discussion today, simply because it served as the focal theme of this week’s episode of Slasher: Flesh & Blood. For ‘Family Ties’ wasted zero time in informing us, that being put under constant duress and being threatened with our lives can make the already morally corrupt dive deeper into the darkness and it can make good people change right before our eyes. As evidenced by Liv and Theo’s respective journeys in this tale. For Liv, who has shown herself to be morally sound and ready to do all the right things in order to survive, indulged in the darkness in this particular tale. Because the death of her mother was more than she could bear and the family’s flippant attitude to her passing was enough to simply push her over the edge. To the point where she was eager and excited to take part in the competition in this tale, one that involved a little family on family hunting with paintball guns loaded with rubber bullets and boy did she indulge her dark side and toss her morals aside in order to make some of the family pay for their crimes. But that was merely a sampling of how easily it can be to corrupt a person and it was indeed Theo that helped to explore the rest of that in the most unique way imaginable. For there was also mention that those that are already corrupt enjoy digging deep and relishing in said corruption further and well… Florence did a lot of that in this story. Since she had no problem exacting revenge and scheming to win the contest and when her dark father added a twist to her victory, one she was enjoying with O’Keefe, she had no qualms with saving her own hide over her daughter’s. Which is a revelation that finally pushed Theo into a point of corruption. Because years of taking the blame for his brother’s kidnapping and years of abuse from this mother, combined with learning that she chose to save her skin over her own daughter’s life, was more than he could bear. Which in turn motivated him to give into the darkness in one’s soul and teach dear old mom some fine lessons. The kind that involved tying her to her own disgusting art so that she could finally experience fear and helplessness for a change. And where she couldn’t talk her way out of a bad situation or figure out how to shift the balance of power into her favor and these were lessons that are likely going to end in death. For Theo’s intention was to leave her in this position overnight, where the Gentleman will likely find her and execute her, and that decision really does hammer home the fact that even the best of us can be corrupted. That lesson made for one savage and sobering tale. One that also helped to demonstrate that the situation on the island is deteriorating quickly and as the bodies pile up and the fear continues to grow… there is a chance that the Gentleman might not have to do much more than sit back and watch as the Galloway family tears one another apart. Either way, this was definitely the darkest and most twisted episode of this story to date and it deserves a round of applause for reminding us of how hard it is to maintain the good within when the chips are down and our backs are against the wall and hopefully the lesson inherent in this tale, is that we have to and must be better if that situation arises… so that we don’t have to live with what the good people of the Galloway family, will, once they reach a point of calm. Until next time.

Against all odds, the two women develop a strong bond. But a fateful night marked by a full moon changes their plans. La Llorona (Guatemala) Accused of the genocide of Mayan people, retired general Enrique is trapped in his home by massive protests. Equally mystical and terrifying, LUZ: THE FLOWER OF EVIL is a fantasy folk horror film where tranquility belies a simmering evil. Luciferina (Argentina) Natalia is a 19-year-old novice who reluctantly returns home to say goodbye to her dying father. But when she meets up with her sister and her friends, she decides instead to travel the jungle in search of mystical plant.
