Getting on the same page as someone else is much easier said than done. As it is very easy for two people to hear the exact same thing and it means something different to each of them. I still don’t know how this works, but it has happened to me many times over my life and it can cause bigger blow ups than you could possibly imagine. The important thing to do is to make sure everything that is said is crystal clear to everyone involved and if you have the problem of people hearing different things altogether, have them repeat it back to you, so you can limit the excuses when all is said and done.

With a surprise of a lifetime for her husband Matt, Rachel is making him wear a blindfold before it is exposed. Pulling up to a new house, Matt has no idea what they are doing there, but breaking the news that her estranged mother left it to her before her death, the couple has a real house to live in. Being surprised about the entire thing, Matt is willing to start this new journey with his wife and there will be nothing that gets in their way. But all is not as good as advertised as Rachel is starting to hear strange sounds around the house and thinks that it is her mother trying to communicate with her.

Knowing that there are creatures in the surrounding woods and old houses come with their old sounds, Matt is quick to discount anything sinister happening around the house, but there is a smell that comes and goes that cannot be explained. Getting cameras installed all around the house to make Rachel feel better about the situation, Matt has no idea what they are going to catch to prove that his wife is not crazy. After heading out for the night to calm down after a fight, Matt cannot be reached and the old house takes its time with Rachel on her own. With the power going out, Rachel hears some strange voices and does not see that a ghost child that is stalking her around the house. As the lights turn back on and Matt arrives home, the couple downloads the footage and are shocked at what they find.

Needing to know more about her mother, Rachel is able to get a meeting with her mother’s lawyer who contacted her about the house. Not knowing much about his client before she died, the lawyer points the couple in the direction of one of the friends of the mother. Calling Mona and inviting her to the house for a discussion, the couple finds out that she is very in tune with what happens in the house on the regular. Telling the couple how to keep the evil at bay, Rachel is starting to feel a bit better, but there is something that the old woman is not telling them. Inviting the old woman back to the house while Matt is at work, Rachel finds out that there is something sinister in her family’s past and while she does not believe one word of it, she gets a visit from a distant relative who is looking to further his family’s line.

As the second installment of the Bad Ben franchise, I must admit that I was a little disappointed overall.  While I loved the story, it seemed to be more of a production than the first one and it really had to do with the additional zooming of the cameras, I mean there were five angles in the living room alone and that just did not sit right with me after watching only one angle in Bad Ben. With that being said, the emotions that Matt and Rachel show were fun and the addition of Mona just helped to make me smile, since I could not tell which side she was really on. With a ghost brother, an old psychic, a secret in the attic, Bad Ben mysteries explained, a tainted family history and a beast in the back yard, it could have been better with less, but hey, I still made it to the end. Stay Scared.

Flipping houses can be a very lucrative business, especially if you know what you are doing. Sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough and all you need to do is throw a little bit of paint on the walls and put the house back on the market. Yet, there are other times when you need to get a little bit dirty and actually do some renovations to make sure that the house is appealing to the masses. Either way, you need to have some sort of idea what you are getting into when joining this revolution, because once you think you have seen it all, there can be something that knocks you off your rocker.

Driving out to his new house that was just closed on at the Sheriff’s sale, Tom Riley is ready to see what needs to be done so he can get his money back. Spending every dime left to his name to acquire this house, walking through it for the first time and seeing everything that was left behind, he knows he will have the payday of the century. With all of the religious things left around the house, Tom starts to clean them out first, so as to not scare away potential new buyers. But there is another problem in the house, there is no power, so driving into town to get it turned back on, he has no idea what he will be in for when returning to his new home.

After getting the power turned back on to his new investment, Tom arrives home to see that the front door is wide open. Walking gingerly to see who might be inside, he finds the living room turned upside down and knows that whomever came in must still be inside. Yelling for whomever is inside to leave, Tom checks the stairway to the basement and hears something that frightens him half to death. With security cameras all through the house already set up, Tom makes the call to have the servers reactivated so he can catch whomever is trying to scare him away. Checking all of the cameras while walking the house, he hears some commotion downstairs and once again the living room has been worked over.

Getting the cameras set up to his liking, Tom finally has everything in the house being recorded, but that is not stopping whomever is trying to get him to leave. As the power goes out at only his house, Tom tries to get it back on, but the fuse box is worthless. Following a pungent odor to the attic, Tom does not find anything out of place and luckily the power turns back on, on its own. With another night down, Tom starts to check out the massive plot that goes along with the house when he stumbles upon a grave behind the house with a rock that is marked with the name; Ben. Not knowing what this means overall, the music box that he takes back into the house with him seems to be a means of communicating with this Ben character, but this might not be the only spirit that is connected to the house as Tom is quickly starting to find out.

When I first checked out the page for this movie, I was hesitant to give it a go. As far as found footage movies go, it is hard to believe that a one-person cast can keep your attention long enough to make a full movie and story come to life, but Bad Ben did just that. With plenty of one sided phone conversations, an intriguing mystery surrounding the house and movement just off camera that you can see, it sure made me want to know what was going on. I liked all of the extras that were thrown in for good measure to make sure that we understood that there was something sinister going on in the house before Tom got there. With something evil inside the walls, it is easy to see how it would scare people away from it very quickly, but Tom is a man that is not willing to give up, so anything and everything that he can do to get his money back is the top priority and while I would have been running, he ensures his investment will be secure for the long haul. Arriving at the graveyard to see Stan digging up Claire’s grave, Kevin and Evie try to talk him out of what he is thinking of doing, but their words are just that, words. Getting the eyes of his love and making his way to the time travel cabin, Evie tries once again to make sure that Stan knows what he is doing. Making a rational argument with his friend, Stan would do anything to get his wife back, since she died well before her time. Not knowing if they will remember each other after this trip, Stan offers his number for the new sheriff to look him up, but once he passes through the door, the number vanishes, but Evie still remembers Stan.

Waking up and calling the police station to make sure that she is still the sheriff and that Leon is still manning the phones, it appears that nothing has changed. But after arriving at the Miller house to see Claire answering the door, Evie sees that something has changed when she discovers that Stan died a year ago. Not leaving the front porch after finding out the news, Claire invites the sheriff in and tells her the story of how Stan died at Ida Putnam’s hands. Knowing that it was Claire that was supposed to die that night, Evie recounts what she had heard and knows that there is a way to make things go back to normal.

Arriving at the graveyard with a plan in place to bring Stan back from the dead, Kevin tries to make sure that what she is doing is of her own free will. Wanting her friend back, Evie has the same devotion as Stan did and takes his eyes, bringing her back to the day he died. Making her way down Main Street to try and find Stan, Evie is stopped by Leon who has no idea who she is. Trying to explain, she gets arrested and Leon is very disappointed with the stripper he believes she is, but his victory is short lived as Ida Putnam is on a rampage and takes the deputy’s head as a prize.

Making her rounds to kill off the five black flowers that appear in Willard’s Mill every year, Claire is stopped by her husband, the one from the future, to be exact. Knowing that she will meet her maker on this night, Stan takes her place in the fight against the evil Putnam who is still on the hunt. Starting to lose the fight against Putnam, Stan sees his old friend Evie join in and take care of the situation, but some things never change as he sees his wife lying on the ground. Watching Claire die from her heart condition, Stan is ready to leave, finding out that there is no changing the past. Arriving back at present day Willard’s Mill and seeing the town in ruins due to one of the black flowers not being destroyed, Stan and Evie know exactly what they need to do…go back to that fateful night once again.

Wow, talk about a strong way to end the season and I am happy to see that the witch and demon killing will not be ending since the show is coming back for a third season. There are still so many things to get to, like racking up more demon kills, since I guess they only killed seven this year and there were originally 172 that burned at the stake, so there’s plenty more monsters to deal with. Stan got a second chance to save his wife’s life and while he succeeded once, he was not around to enjoy the victory and knows now that spending the rest of his life with Claire is not meant to be.

Evie got show off her awesome garden spade skills to kill another demon, along with demonstrating that she will do anything to keep her friends safe. Denise has a trombone and is getting really good with it, perfecting ‘Diamond Dogs’ (by David Bowie) and Leon is proud to be a police officer with a police officer mustache. Well, it will probably be several months before Stan will be back on the airwaves, but I must admit that this season will stick with me more than the first did, not only because of some awesome cameos, but thanks a storyline that will be hard to forget, along with my love for the entire family dynamic in Willard’s Mill. Stay Scared.

Becoming desperate to find out how the demon’s eyes work so he can travel back in time to save his wife, Stan turns to his old friend from the Black Hat Society for some assistance. Arriving at Lara Brouchard’s home to perform a séance to get into touch with Gerard Duquette, the Black Hat member tries to get Stan to change his mind, but he will have none of that. Sitting down and trying to summon the spirits, Lara is shocked that there is zero response to her request. Leaving the house in a huff from all the mumbo jumbo, Stan will need to try and find another way to contact the four-hundred-year-old spirit, but maybe the spirit will find its way to him instead.

Waking up in the middle of the night to a stranger making his way into the room, Stan gets to meet the infamous spirit that will change his life forever. As Gerard is willing to give Stan what he wants, it will come with a price and gives the former sheriff a riddle to figure out in the next twenty-four hours, or Stan will be forced to give him his life. Not fully understanding what the spirit was saying, Stan knows that there has to be a way to get the answer and tries to turn to Denise for help, but she is much too into the hardships of life. Heading down to the station to get a fresh set of eyes on the situation, Stan is shocked to find out that he has already been making his way about town.

Becoming a mirror image of Stan, Gerard is exploring Willard’s Mill and getting the residents fired up about the former sheriff. Passing on some fudge laced with hallucinogens to Leon and making a visit to Lara house and killing the mailman with a bucket, Stan is being set up to be lynched by the people of Willard’s Mill. Arriving at Lara’s house, Evie is shocked to hear about the actions that Stan’s doppelgänger took against their favorite mailman, but what is more troubling is that Stan was being nice. Calling the station and talking to the real Stan, it becomes painfully apparent that something needs to be done and quickly.

Being able to escape the clutches of Leon’s grasp, Stan, Evie and Denise find their way back to the house to try and learn more about Gerard but are coming up short. As the clock hits the hour of midnight and Stan still does not have the answer to the riddle, he knows that his time is up. Getting attacked by the undead mailman who has been roaming the streets, the answer starts to come into sight. With the eyes being the gateway to soul, the answer always falls back on them and Stan is able to deliver what Gerard is looking for and now will try his luck at the thing that is most important to him, saving his wife’s life.

One thing that I don’t think I will ever understand is all of the different characters that were in Willard’s Mill back in the day, as Gerard Duquette is one bad ass Voodoo Doctor from the past. I like the diversity that was shown here, but I really wish he had a better accent to go along with the character. Stan is hell bent on getting his wife back and not even a doppelgänger will be able to stop him at this point. Denise is having a difficult time in the kitchen, trying to figure out how the paper towel holder works. Evie is taking her day off, but is forced to head into work with word that Stan is causing a muck around town.  Leon is having the trip of his life on some great fudge and Lara was able to wake up the spirit, proving that she and the Black Hats are not to be messed with. There’s only one more episode to go and Stan is on a mission to save his wife, so it should be interesting to see how that works out. Stay Scared.
