Written by Scott EdwardsVacations. No matter if they are working ones, or for pleasure, they are just a great way to get away from home and enjoy what other places in the world have to offer. It is even better if you are able to take your family along with you, as you will be able to spend quality time together and hopefully come back stronger than you were when you left. Even though everyone does not get the opportunity to leave the country, or even their state, just leaving home for a couple of days with your family is more than enough to show them that you want them to be able to know that there is more to the world than what they look at daily. Jack Jones has taken his family to Egypt to explore the greatness the past civilization has produced. His daughter Amber is especially happy with the trip as she is a sponge when it comes to learning things and will be quick to point out if something is incorrect or being passed over. After touring the Great Pyramid, Jack and his kids return to the hotel to find their mother waiting for them anxiously. Getting dinner, the group is rocked by an earthquake that will change their time together forever. With some of the ancient structures faring well against the shaking, the modern buildings do not and as they are falling to pieces around the distraught family, Jack finds a survivor that he pulls to safety. Young Tariq is grateful for being saved by the American but is more concerned about what is happening around him. Getting ahold of his father, Tariq finds out that this is not just a normal earthquake, but something that will change the landscape of the area for quite some time. As a tectonic plate has moved out of place, salt water is being poured into the earth’s core, causing steam to rise and bring forth a new ice age for the region. Needing to find a way to escape the impending doom of below freezing temperatures, Jack and his family invite Tariq to come along as they have a plan of survival. But not being able to make it to the airport to leave the area, the group will have to find another way of moving quickly before the temperature falls well below zero, freezing everyone to death. This movie is actually not as bad as everyone wants to make it out to be. I will admit that some of the special effects are pretty shoddy, and some of the images of 'snow cover' are more of a dusting that do not look that dangerous, but the movie is about the story. An ice age is moving into a region that has no way to prepare for it and people have to find safety the old fashioned way, on foot. Looking to escape the trouble of the old kingdom and making it to the Red Sea for safety, much like the film The Ten Commandments; is a key aspect to the story and it would not be as entertaining without it, but there are no stone slabs to be found here and God does not provide any help for the refugees. Happy Viewing.

Written by Scott EdwardsIf the end of days was upon us and there was nothing you could do to stop it, would you really want to know that our time has come? It is a hard question to answer, and I don’t really think there can be a correct one since everyone would react differently to this kind of event, while some would want to be with their loved ones, others would just like to live out their inner most darkest fantasies. With the fear of having no tomorrow, it is frightening what some people would do, for one simple fact...because they can. Working at the observatory, young Kitsias is jamming along with one of his favorite songs as an alarm starts going off. Never hearing an alarm like this before, he checks all of the charts that he can, but cannot figure out what is happening until he sees it through the telescope. Seeing a meteor coming directly towards the planet, he calls it in, but is greeted by the military instead of his boss. Not really understanding what is happening to him, he is held at the station, but winds up making himself indispensable when the General comes down to evaluate the situation. Lieutenant Commander Chase Seward is out to have a nice quiet night with one of his men, just a couple of drinks and nothing else. Seeing a beautiful woman sitting alone in a booth, he is introduced to the woman and finds out that she is one of the top minds, below the ocean. Marissa Knoxx starts off as not being interested in Chase's advances, but by the end of the night, she is ready to let her guard down and compare notes about the ocean bottom. But before the two are able to make their intentions a reality, they are both picked up by the Marines who have been charged with getting them to their submarine to try and save the world. After General Masterson finds out that the world’s defensive measures will not work he has to depend on the young mind of Kitsias. Kitsias is not only a young man that works in the observatory, he is also one of the top young minds on the planet and has a plan that could save the world from the large rock that is hurling towards it. Wanting to cause massive earthquakes to make the earth shift off of its axis to avoid the oncoming collision, Masterson waits to see what happens with their nuclear response. As the main meteor is diverted from its course, there are two fragments that have broken off and are now moving at a much faster pace towards the earth. Knowing that they are not in the clear, Masterson has to depend on two of the smartest people he knows to save the world from its impending doom. This is a fun movie as you get to witness problems above and below the water when it comes to everyone’s stories. As the Earth falls into alignment with the sun, moon and the asteroid, all kinds of events happen on the surface of the planet, but that is not where it stops as the ocean floor seems to light up as well. Without taking the proper precautions to make sure that their plan will work, it is amazing to see what problems the groups will face. Watching volcanoes erupt on the surface and turning that into a main storyline made me a little bit giddy, as I am always a sucker for them. I did enjoy how the story played out in the end, as you never know what is going to happen with a bunch of throwaway characters that you only expect to see once or twice in the movie, but they really do come through. Happy Viewing. Written by Zeke Perez Jr.The dreams of college football players all come down to one big day. On April 27th, franchises will gather in Philadelphia to select their newest stars from this year’s pool of prospects at the 2017 NFL Draft. Teams will look to add the next John Elway, Paul Crewe, or Deion Sanders. But what if I told you one of college football’s greatest talents never got drafted…? This is the story of Bobby Boucher. A Modest Upbringing Bobby Boucher grew up in the small town of Jackson’s Bayou, Louisiana, billed as 'The Heart of Cajun Country'. His father Robert was out of the picture at an early age, leaving Bobby to be raised by his strong, albeit overbearing, single mother Helen and their indoor pet mule Steve. While Helen loved Bobby unconditionally and supported most of his pursuits, she was manipulative and sheltered him from football and college life. In fact, Bobby didn’t see a football field as a player until the age of 31. If it weren’t for his father, he may have never set foot on one at all. Despite having moved on from Helen and Bobby, now living in a big city with a voodoo woman named Phyllis, 'Roberto' profoundly impacted Bobby’s life. After Robert deserted the family, Helen sought an explanation that would be palatable to her young son. She told Bobby that his father died of dehydration while serving for the Peace Corps in the Sahara. Bobby soon became determined to make an impact in the hydration business, taking up a job as the waterboy for Coach Red Beaulieu’s prestigious University of Louisiana (UL) football team at age 13. At that young age, Boucher showed a strong work ethic and a propensity towards being part of a team. He proudly held his gig at UL for 18 years, driving his lawnmower for miles on end every day just to support the club. But Bobby Boucher had a dark side. Underneath his happy exterior, this aquatic engineer held a lot of anger. That animosity was present in Boucher’s youth when he attempted to attack a UL player for spitting in a cooler. But his anger only truly began to boil over after he was fired from UL many years later… The Birth of a Football Player18 years after being scolded by Coach Red Beaulieu for attempting to attack a player, Boucher was released from UL for being a distraction to the team. This set in motion a series of events that changed Boucher’s life. Out of work for the first time in his adult life, Boucher traveled to the struggling South Central Louisiana State University (SCLSU) in search of a new waterboy gig. SCLSU’s football team had bred a culture of losing leading to a lack of funding. The team had to share everything from helmets to – disgustingly – athletic cups. (Fun fact: Due to the tight budget, Boucher would go on to become the first linebacker in NCAA history to wear a helmet with a kicker’s style one-bar facemask.) He agreed to work for SCLSU’s Coach Klein for free. Unfortunately, the bullying that tormented Boucher at UL followed him to SCLSU. But this time, things were different. After Bobby was harassed by teammates on his first day of work, Coach Klein encouraged him to stand up for himself. Boucher laid a hit on quarterback Gee Grenouille that sent a shockwave through that small corner of Louisiana. Coach Klein was impressed by Boucher’s natural and untapped talent and offered him a spot on SCLSU’s defensive roster in the hopes that he could bring him up to speed. And that he did. Coach Klein encouraged Boucher to find his inner 'tackling fuel', the anger he relied on to punish opposing ballcarriers. On the field, Boucher looked less like his meek alter ego, a timid waterboy who knew nothing of football, and more like his childhood hero, pro wrestler Captain Insano. Coach Klein, special teams coach Farmer Fran, and kicker/teammate Derek Wallace all mentored Bobby and pushed him to the pinnacle of success… A Meteoric Rise to Stardom Waterboy. Walk on. Record breaker. All-American. MVP. Aside from quarterback Kurt Warner – who famously went from going undrafted and bagging groceries at a supermarket to Super Bowl MVP and Hall of Fame inductee – few players in any sport have a story like Bobby Boucher. He started his freshman season as a 31-year-old who never played a down of football in his life. He ended that same season as a terror to opposing offenses and as a Louisiana football hero. On the very first play of his very first game, Boucher recorded a sack. That would be a trend for the rest of the day against Western Mississippi University. Boucher set an NCAA record with an unbelievable 16 sacks in that one game, in addition to numerous other tackles, quarterback pressures, and an interception. Unfortunately, his lack of football IQ reared its ugly head, as Boucher would turn the ball over for a game-winning touchdown, all in a selfish effort to dropkick his opponent. Boucher turned himself around in following games, including big matchups against Central Kentucky, Clemson, Louisville, and Iowa. He recorded a game-winning safety against Central Kentucky and, more dramatically, a game winning field goal block and return to defeat Iowa and clinch a spot in the Bourbon Bowl. Through those games, Boucher gained national notoriety and increased his draft stock. By the time the Bourbon Bowl was said and done, ESPN had projected Boucher to be a top draft pick in the 1998 draft. But as we know, that never came to fruition… A Draft Day Dream Come True Despite being pegged as a top prospect, Bobby Boucher decided to skip the draft, stay in school at SCLSU, and earn his degree. Had he declared for the draft after his freshman season, it is very possible that some NFL teams would have gambled and used a pick on him. While he may not have gone first round, there were plenty of aspects to Boucher and his style of play that would have made him a useful addition to a pro organization.
Not Fit for the Field Bobby Boucher played an exciting brand of football that drew fans from across the nation. His raw skill set may be unmatched. But many of Boucher’s flaws could have prevented him from being drafted if he decided to declare.
A Cup Runneth Over: The Waterboy’s Impact Few people in America had heard of South Central Louisiana State University before that fateful 1997-98 season. That is, until Bobby Boucher made Mud Dogs out of all of us. A simple man that followed his dreams, loved his mama, and found a deeper meaning to life, the waterboy inspired the best in everyone he met.
A college career fulfilled, but an NFL career never begun. All we’re left with is speculation. It’s a shame that we never got to see him in the draft. There is little doubt that he would have had one of the best draft day suits ever. Nonetheless, Bobby Boucher will be remembered as the top walk-on player in college history, if not one of the all-time college greats in general. Written by Scott EdwardsWith all of the new technology that is coming out on a daily basis, we truly do believe that we can stop anything bad from happening to our planet. Although there are so many different types of disasters, our scientists have found a better way at predicting them, but not everything can be avoided. With the lack of government funding going to NASA these days, the private funds that are going into our space program may seem to be minuscule, but they seem to be getting much more bang for the buck. But without a government run space program, there are many more people trying to get into this industry to prove that we, as a race are indestructible. Nathan is calmly working at his desk, watching as his next project is heading towards an oncoming asteroid. Although he does not believe in what he is being told to do, his boss wants to make sure that everything goes off without a hitch since the public loves seeing destruction in space and the company needs the fanfare. As the rocket gets closer to the planet killer, Nathan wants to make slight changes to its course, but his boss will not allow him to do so. Hitting the asteroid head on, the office erupts in applause, but the space rock is still hurling towards the earth and even though it will not hit the planet, it will cause some major problems. Working on a stakeout, Tom and his partner are waiting to see what is happening at the warehouse they have been assigned to. During the down time however, Tom is researching the young man that has been dating his daughter. Finding out that C.J. has a criminal record, Tom is none too happy with the situation and will do anything to keep his daughter safe. Tom’s ex, Bonnie, is not too worried about the whole thing, since she has been able to keep a closer eye on the matter. With both parents never being married, young Kimberly is having issues as well, and even with trying to act out with her distrust for both of them by dating the ex-con, she has no idea what the future will hold with C.J., but he aims to surprise her. As the asteroid passes by earth, it pulls the planet slightly out of its rotation, bringing it closer to the sun. With the temperature rising at an alarming rate, Nathan knows that he and his team are responsible for what is happening to the planet and wants to tell someone as reports of fires breaking out all over the world start coming in. Carly, Nathan’s sister and reporter for a local television station, wants to break the story, but since there is nothing that can be done to correct what has happened, she listens to her brother's plan to flee to safety. As the planet gets hotter by the hour, the streets become more dangerous with violence and looting. Although nothing seems to happen in the daytime with the unbearable temperatures, the nights are filled with people not only looking to survive, but people looking to take advantage of the situation. Tom takes on the task of getting his family, along with his friends to safety before they succumb to the heat and new threats on the streets, but knowing that the weather is not the only obstacle in front of him, he has to keep his eyes open for anyone looking to take advantage of him. This is a fine telling of what might happen when we are faced with the possibility of destruction. Watching as the masses go crazy and take anything and everything they want, and not necessarily for survival, it makes me wonder what would happen in real life if we dealt with a disaster like this, and I hope that it would not be as bad as it was in this film if we ever get the news that the end is near. I wanted to believe in humanity in this story, but there were plenty of people in the movie that panicked for the slightest of reasons and some of these people became very violent to make themselves feel safe again. Not a bad story and I did enjoy Nathan’s journey in the movie, as he wants to make it right when it comes to the problem that he has created, not only for himself, but for the entire planet. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsHaving a lapse in memory can be a very dangerous thing. Waking up in a strange place or talking to someone you do not remember is something that could turn bad, quickly, if you don’t know why or how you got put in the situation. There are several reasons why you might forget how you got to a place, but if you do not remember who you are, then you have more problems lined up than you have ever bargained for. Jake Lonergan wakes up in the middle of the desert with a strange piece of metal clamped around his wrist. But that is not his only problem as he cannot remember how he got there, or who he really is. Fighting off a couple of outlaws, Jake is able to find his way into town and get cleaned up, but not knowing who he is, he is in for a world of trouble. Making himself known around the little town by not bowing down to one of its spoiled patrons, Jake finds himself getting arrested for something he does not recall. Being able to fight his way out of the situation, he has enough self-restraint not to kill the sheriff when the old man’s family comes into play. Being knocked out cold by the only woman that carries a gun in town, Jake is locked up and awaits trial for all of the crimes he committed, including murder. But when getting loaded up to go see the judge, the town is attacked by something vicious from the stars and several people are taken away. Pairing up with an old colonel who he supposedly stole from, Jake becomes the key to searching for the beasts that have destroyed the town. Having the power of the monsters attached to his wrist, Jake has to become the man the people of the town want him to be, and since he still does not remember anything from his past, he has no reason not to be their champion. As a group of survivors head off in search for their missing loved ones, they are met with opposition from not only the beasts above, but the monsters that hide out in the desert, in the form of outlaws. Getting held up, one of the rag tag bunch recognizes Jake and that is all the man needs to know. Trying to take over his old group, Jake finds that he has committed the ultimate sin in their eyes by stealing the gold that they stole. With bits and pieces coming back to him about his past, Jake has to find a way to convince his old group to help him find the missing people from the town, but they do not take too lightly to what their old boss has done to him in the past. As the trek continues, more obstacles arise, but Jake is also able to regain his memory and is able to become a better man than he knew himself to be. This movie has too many story lines to follow as you are treated to several powerful characters that you get attached to. There's the western beauty, Ella, who is looking for answers about the invaders, Colonel Dolarhyde who is looking for revenge, Doc who is trying to prove himself as a man, Nat who is only wanting to be accepted by his father figure, and so on. With so much happening with the characters in the movie, I cannot forget to mention that there are aliens as well. One of the things that I liked about these invaders from a different planet is that they seem to have a plan of attack and even though they can be killed, they will not give up their position since they are pretty much as money hungry as everyone else in the west. Finding gold, the aliens will fight for their claim, but seem to have an interest in the inhabitants of the planet as well, hence their need to abduct them. I have read so many reviews blasting this movie for not having enough of one thing or another. That is just fine and everyone is entitled to their opinions, but one thing that I have not read is what I like most about the movie, and that is that every main character in the movie grows in front of your eyes. When first meeting them, everyone is stuck in their hard western ways, but by the end, they have become more human and understanding about what it takes to survive. I enjoyed this movie, mostly for the different looks and one liners that are thrown out between the characters. The storyline is fine in my eyes and I am pleasantly surprised how much more is incorporated into it than just what the title says. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsWith so many things being done to try to make the world a better place to live, it is hard to keep track of everything that is happening. With technology continuing to skyrocket with new enhancements every week, what you buy is outdated the second you buy whatever is the latest and greatest. If this is happening so quickly on the consumer front, it is hard to imagine what is happening in the private sector that works on the bigger projects that help to protect the country. Vincent is working for the Ministry of Defense on a project that is years in the making, artificial intelligence. Although he has been able to complete his own computer, he is still in need of more breakthroughs that he will not be able to come up with on his own. Holding financial backing sessions with the best in the field, Vincent is able to locate a young woman that may be able to take his research to the next level. Ava jokes that her computer is more human than most people, but when she is extended a job offer to work for the Ministry of Defense, she knows that it is true. Finding out the true motives behind Vincent’s research, Ava is willing to work for the agency, even though she fears that her improvements will be weaponized at some point. As she starts searching through all of the records in the secret base, she starts to ask herself if she is doing the right thing, but is not given much time to reflect as an ambush is set up to kill her. Vincent is more than upset about the loss of his new partner, but continues his research to try to help his daughter who is suffering from a mental disease and does not have much more time. Dumping the program that he and Ava have finished into an android shell, Vincent and the Ministry are very surprised with the results. As Ava has come back to life in a way, Vincent works with her on a daily basis to teach the machine what it is to be alive. But the Ministry has a different plan for the newly created android and that is for it to become a weapon. This movie kind of left me in shock after watching it. As you get to see an android come to life right in front of you and watch it get trained in the range of human emotions. It is scary for me to think that this could actually be happening with all of the enhancements we have in the computer world, who knows if the cybernetic world is moving as fast. With Vincent trying to find a way to save the essence of his daughter, he finds out it could be much more complicated than he could ever expect since the Ministry is looking to do something much more sinister with the program that he created. Having to make up his own mind on what is right, he also has to find a way to convince his new creation that his way of thinking is correct as well. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsWhen winter approaches, it is interesting to watch what people stock up on. Some people only go shopping for food as it appears that the snowpocalypse is coming and everyone else is crazy for not being prepared. Others go shopping for new cold weather clothes as they are not satisfied with what they already had hanging in their closets. Then there are the people that go out and buy another form of entertainment, such as a new video game or a movie that they will watch as the cold weather moves through. In no way, shape or form are any of these wrong to do, as I am guilty of doing all three, since you never know what the next winter will bring. As the human race has battled the elements for all of their lives, they have decided to try and make the planet just a little bit more hospitable. Creating machines that could control the weather in the face of an impending ice age, they believed that they could correct Mother Nature’s mistake. When the machines were turned on however, it brought forth the ice age that much quicker and now the earth’s population has been forced into bunkers for the rest of their days. Colony 7 is being run by former solider Briggs who has his finger on the pulse of everything that is going on. Being stuck in such a confined area, protocols have been developed in the colony to ensure the health and wellbeing of everyone inside. As sickness can spread though the colony very quickly with no way of escaping it, anyone that shows any signs of not being well is put into quarantine immediately to avoid another outbreak that has taken the bunker's population from four hundred to less than twenty survivors. Although everything seems to be going well, Mason, Briggs’ right hand man is taking matters into his own hands and not giving anyone in the bunker a choice after they have been diagnosed with any sickness and is ending their days with a shot to the head. As Briggs is made aware of the situation, he tries to tone Mason down a bit, but a S.O.S. comes from their neighboring Colony, #5, that he needs to answer. Since they are on friendly terms with the other colony, Briggs stages a rescue party to see what is happening as there is no radio communication, but in his absence, Briggs does not want to lose his home and appoints someone else in charge of the bunker as he will be gone for a couple days. Mason does not take kindly to this and starts trying to protect his home as well from the possible outbreak that could end his, and others lives. Making their way to Colony 5, Briggs is accompanied by outdoor veteran Sam and rookie Graydon. As they make the dangerous trek, they find an abandoned vehicle that reminds them of the dangers the outside world truly possesses. Arriving at their neighboring bunker, the group finds blood at the entrance, but continue in to find out what has happened. Only finding one survivor inside, the group hears screams coming from the lower levels and choose to investigate a little bit more. Finding a group of cannibals chopping up the remaining residents of the bunker, the group tries to make an unnoticeable exit, but are spotted after a sound is made. Rushing back to the snow, they notice that their tracks are more than visible for anyone wanting to follow them and need to find a way to keep the blood thirsty carnivores from finding their home. Another post-apocalyptic movie that deals with humans trying to avoid an ice age, but just wind up making it worse. Is Hollywood trying to tell us something, or is it a genuine fear that with our little bit of weather technology in place, something like this is likely to happen? Either way, it is a very strong story with great characters that although you may not fall in love with them, you feel their fear of what is happening in the outside world, along with their worry as to what will happen if they are attacked. I especially liked the power struggle at the top of the ranks in the bunker, as each man believes they are doing the right thing to protect the survivors, and in a way, they are both right. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsAt some point in time in our lives, we all wish we had a superpower. Whether it be super strength, x-ray vision or an ability to heal very quickly, we all wish there was something that could separate us from the pack. Although no one possesses those kind of gifts, there are plenty of people with big hearts that have done extraordinary things to help others and even though it may not make them a superhero, it does not make them anything less than super. A group of superhero friends all wake up finding that their abilities have been taken from them. Receiving a shot in their wrists from their nemesis, they are all starting to feel new things as they have become normal people once again. All except Charge, who seems to have kept his super strength and is being looked at differently by the group since the shot has had zero effect on him. As they all come to terms about becoming human once again, their arch nemesis Rickshaw has come up with a series of challenges for them to complete to prove their worth and save the innocent. Giving the group rules to abide by, Rickshaw’s deadly game is designed for only him to come away as the victor, but the group of Charge, Cutthroat, Shadow and The Wall all have different plans in mind as they will do anything to save the people being held hostage by the mad man. As the first challenge is completed, but not one hostage is saved, the group find out that their death and torment is all Rickshaw wants and they have to figure out a new set of rules to survive. With the loss of The Wall, Charge has to take command of the group to make sure they do not fall to pieces before the game ends. As the night draws on, the challenges get more personal to each group member, leaving them at each other’s throats. Will they be able to muster up enough energy to defeat the mad man at his own game before they all meet their fates? A dark look at how superheroes could face their lives if they ever lost their powers. Wanting to perform the same acts as when they had their abilities, but having to work with what they currently have, is the kind of revolutionary idea that could change the outlook on superheroes forever. How each hero deals with the loss of their powers in their own way was amazing and when one had to come clean about why he did not lose his, well that was just fantastic. Wanting to show the world that you have special abilities is one thing, but having a big heart matters more. It may not get you noticed, but it will allow you to do good things more often than not. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsBeing handy on a computer is one thing, but being able to utilize it for what it could be used for is much more specialized. Being able to pull music off of the web is one thing, but with all of the cyber-attacks that have taken place, pulling off personal information such as social security numbers, credit card numbers and celebrity pictures, it seems to have become an open forum of information that will never be fully protected. Keeping your life off of the internet may be impossible, but to an extent, you are able to manage what is made available to everyone. Agent Chloe Jocelyn is at the top of her game with being able to help with the capture of a master hacker; Gustov Dobreff. With becoming an important part of the collar, Chloe is now looking for something bigger in her career and is willing to end her personal ties. With her partner Frank Parker being left behind, Chloe has no more personal attachments inside of the office, therefore nothing holding her back from her new goals. While playing a game when taking a conference call, Chloe discovers that her online account is showing that it is overdrawn. Not thinking too much about this, Frank steps back into the picture and delivers a hacker code that appears to be showing up in the grid. Noticing that something looks familiar about the code, Chloe does not get enough time to analyze it as she is being accused of being a cyber-terrorist. Trying to dispute the charges being thrown her way, she tries to explain that she is being framed, but nobody, not even her friends will believe her. Escaping the building, the now former agent has to turn back to her old cyber hacking days and is able to release another master hacker, one that will be able to help clear her name. Even though Rabbit has locked away for some time, he is able to jump right back into the game and trace where one of the largest hacks in history is taking place, even if he does not know what they are after. A former agent and a former prisoner are now fugitives running from the law and trying to protect the world from losing everything. It is scary how real to life this movie (a true find on Netflix) seems to be in line with all of the current hacks that have changed people’s lives forever. There does not seem to be a way to keep anything safe on your computer if you use the internet, unless you do not click on one single link. Trying to keep yourself protected from these threats may seem like it is completely impossible, but there are a couple of measures that can be taken, but these days no one is completely safe. When it could result in losing your job, you have to give a moment to think twice about how dire the situation is. Not saying that it is bad to think about what will happen after you take care of your emergency, it is always good to be able to plan ahead as you never know what is going to happen next in life. A couple strong nights of meteor showers have taken their toll on Earth as fires are starting to erupt everywhere. Not knowing what is causing this, the top military scientists have been tracking something much more dangerous heading towards earth and it is a planetary killer. An asteroid the size of Texas is heading towards the Earth and there is only one way to save the planet and that is to drill. Sending a team of top trained soldiers into space with the most advanced drilling equipment, along with the newest ship ever designed is the way the powers that be have chosen to save our world and with that, Captain Wheeler is put back in charge. The opportunity to save the world is one he could not pass up and with the promise of a huge pay off upon his team's return, neither could they. Although this is not a fighting mission, it is one that will go down in the books forever as they save the world. As they approach the falling rock, they notice that it is slowing down and that it seems to hold many more secrets than their previous intel has provided. Chris Meher has his own problems as he is working in the fire house at an advanced age. At least that is what his men are telling him, and although he is able to handle himself, he will not allow anyone to show him up. When the asteroid has stopped and found its orbit around the planet, he quickly finds out that there is something that he has never expected to see in his lifetime at his door step. Only wanting to get to his daughter, Chris has to battle the military along with a new race that he has never encountered before to ensure her safety. But when she is zapped right in front of his very eyes, Chris thinks that all is lost, but will find out soon that there might just still be something that he can do. Age of Tomorrow follows two different groups that are striving for the same result, the safety of the planet. When Captain Wheeler and his team discover that the falling meteor is actually a battle station of sorts, they transport to an alien world and although they have no chance in getting home, they will still do everything within their power to ensure the safety of the other humans that are being held captive on the distant land. Chris Meher is trying to keep everyone in the city safe as fires keep popping up around the city, but once alien ships start hitting the streets, he has to focus all of his attention on getting to his daughter before something happens to her. Meeting up with the military, Chris is able to get intel about what is really happening and that there is a chance that the people he previously thought were dead may still have a shot at getting home, albeit a slim one. I was impressed by the movie and let me tell you why. It is a hybrid of some of the finest alien and action movies that we have all enjoyed through the years. I would call out Armageddon, Independence Day, and any movie that has aliens experimenting on humans (no anal probes). You put all of these stories together and find a way to harness the raw human emotion of what the situation is bringing down on people, and you have a good movie on your hands. It is not always about the lead actor, maybe not always about the special effects, or about the story, but it is about the performances that are delivered in the movie, that that is one thing that comes out in this one. Happy Viewing. |
