Written by ScottyWhen is okay to follow your heart? I would like to say always, but in the time that we live in, it might just get you into trouble more often than not. You know how you feel, but can you always be sure to know what the other person is thinking? It is difficult these days to gauge on how other people deal with these feelings, since so many people have been taught to ignore them, but there are still those that embrace it and put themselves on the line every day, without fear. More of this needs to be accepted, rather than thinking that these people are emotional messes, they are just like everyone else, they just are willing to show how they feel. After being shot by a crossbow by her boyfriend Mark, Kelly has been forced to put her gymnastic training on the shelf, but not walk away from it entirely. Sneaking into Mark’s house, Kelly wants to tell him something important, but it is never the right time as his family is displeased by the relationship. When Mark’s mother comes knocking at the door, Mark is able to hide his young lover, but when he needs to go out and find the dog, he knows that his mother will rummage through the room, so Kelly is forced to hide in the attic. But nobody in the house knows who is lurking outside and what they are ready to bring down on the family and anyone in their way. A group of four masked men break into the house while Mark’s parents are sleeping. Tying up the parents, Mark hears something that does not sound right and leaps into action after hearing the news that Kelly is pregnant. Hurting one of the attackers, Mark is tied up and placed with his parents for the time being while Kelly hides under the bed. Trying to figure out what is happening, the attackers bring their wounded leader into the room and place him on the bed Kelly is hiding under. Listening to the plan that the men are trying to pull off, Kelly tries to get help for her boyfriend’s family, but nothing is working out in her favor. Having to wait for the opportunity to escape the room cannot come fast enough for her and when she gets her opportunity, she has to take it. The home invaders, Shane and Callum remain in the house while Mark’s father is taken to work at gun point to perform one the biggest scores in their careers. As Shane lies on the bed, slowly dying from his injuries, Kelly is trying to free Mark and his mother before the men find out, but a visitor comes knocking for Mark’s mother. Callum knows what will happen if anyone reports seeing him in the house and kills the visitor in front of his blindfolded audience, but he has the sneaky suspicion that there is someone else in the house. When Kelly is spotted, she is forced to use everything that she knows about herself and the house to find safety, if for only a short time to try and find a way to free Mark and his mother from what is pretty much guaranteed to happen when the job is pulled off. Not wanting anyone to get hurt, Kelly has to stay out of sight and pick her battles, only when she knows that she will be able to win. I had no idea what to expect from this movie and that is the best way to see it. With everything that is happening in the house when the attackers come in, you are able to choose the side of who you want to care about. As the story starts to play out, you get to learn much more about the attackers and then you start to understand why they do not want to deviate from the plan that is destined to work for them. I really liked how Shane was able to keep control of his crew, even when he was not with them for the score, and even when he is dying in the bed, he still has a pretty good idea about what is happening around him in the house and is not willing to give up on his own life until the loose ends are tied up. Kelly was great as well, she is strong and smart and not willing to give up on her goal of freeing her soon to be family, even when all the cards say that the smartest thing to do is run. Happy Viewing.

Written by ScottyThere is something that can be said when it comes to helping others. It does not matter if it is friend or a stranger, but being able to help them with their life problems, or just moving to a new apartment can show them that there are still people out there that care. With so many people willing to turn the other cheek when someone is in need, it is nice to see that there are still a few people out there that are willing to put their own problems aside for even an hour and focus on someone else for that time. Josh McManus is still on the road, but now he is focused on one thing, helping others. With the world changing as drastically as it has, people need the talents that Josh possesses to help keep them safe, along with their loved ones. Everything is different in the new world and the rules of men have been thrown out the window and anything goes, that is of course depending on which territory you are passing through. Trying to catch up with a young woman that has been kidnapped, Josh sees that she is strong, possibly stronger than some of the others he has helped save, but when she gets stabbed while trying to escape, Josh will have to find a place for her to receive medical treatment before she passes on. Pulling up to a barricaded town, Josh knows that she will be able to receive help inside, but the man guarding the gate are trying to blackmail Josh into just paying to get in. With help from Sofia, Josh enters the town with little hassle, since she knows the story of the man in black from the north that has never lost a fight. After getting Emily into the clinic, Josh finds out that the town doctor has actually left the premises and he has been commissioned by the leader Drake that he will save her when he finds The Shepherd that took her away from him. With little time to waste, Josh takes to the road and finds out that he is not alone on his travels. With Sofia hiding out in his trunk, Josh has to keep his eyes open for two once again, but he may be glad that she is with him. Trying to make it up north to find The Shepherd, the two encounter some nearby townsfolk that have taken a liking of meat, human meat. With his car being stolen and sold to another party that is not friendly to his mission, Josh is able to subdue the cannibals, and move towards the local swap meet to try and get his car back from Honcho, but little does he know that Drake and his men are watching his progress very closely and when Josh gets to his next destination, he is in for more of a surprise than he could ever expect. Shot in the chest twice and being left for dead, Josh has a decision to make, either ascend to the heavens above, or stay and continue his work on the planet. Josh choses the latter, since he knows his importance to many and because he has still not followed through on Emily’s safety. Being brought back to the living, Josh heads back to his mission of making sure the innocent are not unjustly taken advantage of by the wicked and evil. Knowing his endgame just makes him less worried about his family’s fate, along with his own in the future. This is the a great ending to the Revelation Road story, and who knows if there might be another one, since Josh is still out there on the streets trying to take care of the innocent. This story focuses more on what humanity has become as a whole after so many people have been claimed by the rapture. Reporting to a group in the background that is never seen, society has received rationed food and protection in lieu of what they bring to the party. With The Shepherd being deemed a key person in the prophecy, the ‘powers’ want him before anything can become true. But the part of the story that I fell in love with was Sofia wanting to understand how to believe. She is challenged once by a stranger to listen to her words, but continues to ask Josh to teach her what she does not know and how it can translate into her possible salvation. You see by the end of the movie that everyone has their own brand of faith and when all is said and done, they will find their own heaven, even if it is on a forsaken planet. Happy Viewing. Written by ScottyDuring our time on this planet, we are witness to many things. I remember growing up when there was no internet and I was forced to read encyclopedias to work on my reports. I am sure that this added character, at least that is what my parents said when the internet blew up and went crazy with information coming out of its…internet holes I guess. So much can change and while I am sitting here writing this, I am sure there is another advancement happening that I will not be able to understand in my lifetime. Josh McManus has to find a way out of his hotel, since the owner is trying to keep everyone there until the power comes back on. Seeing the band of bikers coming his way to make him pay in blood for what he did to their brothers, Josh has no choice but to leave. With a stowaway, Josh hears her story about what happened to her husband when he changed into a ball of light and escaped the troublesome world they call home. Not understanding why she was not taken as well, she is trying to find her own path with Josh, but it will be dangerous. Being chased by the Renegades, Josh has to use his quick thinking to get back to town and enter the protection realm of Sheriff Jensen. With a roadblock set up, the town is shut off, especially from the biker gang now heading their way. But Hawg is not ready to give up his hunt for the stranger and wants his men on every road into and out of the town to claim his bounty. Seeing young Beth with the sheriff, Josh has a new traveling companion on his way home to see his wife and baby. Beth has been blown away by what she has seen and even though she does not fully understand why she was not taken, the stranger that saved her from the biker gang gave her a mission, to protect Josh on his travels. Wanting to understand why Josh is the way he is, Beth is able to get him to open up about his past and as he is able to recount the moment he lost fear in his life, leaving her in awe. Being a weapon designed by the military that fears nothing, Josh has beliefs, but not faith and can do more good on the world below than above. When meeting up once again the rednecks that tried to rob him on the way out of town, Beth and Josh team up to make them pay for their sins. Thinking that the road ahead is clear and he will be able to be with his family soon, Josh finds out that the Renegades are still after him and after picking up Cat, Hawg’s daughter, on the side of the road, the group may be in more trouble than they expected. Young Beth gets shot, but she is not afraid of death since she knows where she is going and wishes the best for Josh and Cat as they have to stay ahead of the biker gang, at least until the world starts to unravel some more. The story continues to grow and you find out for certain that it was the Rapture that had taken place and has left plenty of people on the Earth to find their path. You get a great backstory for Hawg and why he has become the man that he is today, and even why he seems to have a hatred for his daughter Cat. We also get a good look at what happened to Josh in his past, how he was cured of fear, and that he is a weapon that no one has ever seen before and can do much good in protecting the innocent, but when it comes to his time, who knows if he will be able to be saved as well. I really liked how the second installment picked up right where the first left off. You get to see some of the same events happening again, along with a new outlook from the people that have been left behind. With one more to go, I cannot wait to see what revelations some of the characters have, or maybe even a lack of one when they need it most. Happy Viewing. Written by ScottyThere are always times when you neglect to tell someone something about yourself that is known to very few. It may be because you do not know them well enough, or you are afraid of what they might think of your past. Keeping a secret from somebody might seem like a good idea at the time, but in the long run, they will probably end up disliking not knowing everything about you. Being upfront about who you are and what you do could be a good way of living your life, but if you are hiding from something in your past, you may want to pick and choose who the lucky ones are who get to know who you are or were. Josh McManus is just trying to make a living on the road and regrets not being there for his family when times get tough. Right now, the times are extremely tough as the world is starting to fall into chaos around him. While talking with his wife on his phone, Josh is rear ended by a couple of rednecks that are looking for an easy score. Knowing he can take care of the situation on his own, and seeing the knife in one of the redneck’s hand, he tries to settle himself down, but there is someone else on the road as well. The Renegades pull up on their motorcycles and make fun of what is happening and the rednecks go their own way so they do not receive the beat down from the biker gang that they have heard so much about. Being a traveling salesman, Josh is trying to make his next sale in a little gun shop and is stumped by the owner Frank’s question of him. Trying to get an insight to the correct answer from young Beth, Frank’s granddaughter, Josh is put into another situation that he cannot walk away from. Three members of the Renegades walk into the shop wanting their money and any automatic weapons that they carry. Jumping into action, Josh kills two of the attackers and leaves the third wounded. When the cleanup crew comes to help their friends, they see that this stranger is much more than a lamb, he is a threat and needs to be dealt with before he becomes too much of a nuisance. After talking to the police, Josh is told to stay in town and since he will not be able to go home for a good meal, Frank invites his new friend over for dinner. Just being somebody that can help, Josh accepts his role and wants to make sure that everyone around him is being taken care of, but he may not be able to protect everyone from the Renegades when they come hunting for him. While at his hotel, Josh tries to help a young woman that is getting beat up by her boyfriend, but when he does not offer money to rectify the situation, he becomes a target once again. Being able to remedy the situation, Josh leaves money on the table after beating the boyfriend down, since it was a lesson that he needed to find out. Not being able to change who he was, Josh has to come to terms with who he still is and when many guests from the hotel disappear into orbs of light, he knows that something greater is watching over his path. This is an interesting opening to the story of Revelation Road and you are given plenty of character development when it comes to the main players. Josh is running from something in his past that he has been trying to forget, but being put in these situations to help others, well, he is heading right back to what he does best. I am partial to young Beth since she has a lot of growing to do, something she realizes after her grandparents are taken by a force she cannot see. The leader of the Renegades, Hawg who is not mentioned in my write up seems to know what is happening all around him and whenever he makes a demand of his gang, lightning strikes. I need to know what happens next since this seems to be the beginning of the rapture and only the evil are left on the Earth, but some of these characters do not seem to be evil and deserve to be saved from their impending doom, and it appears that they have something more to prove. Happy Viewing. |
