Written by Scott EdwardsIf the end of days was upon us and there was nothing you could do to stop it, would you really want to know that our time has come? It is a hard question to answer, and I don’t really think there can be a correct one since everyone would react differently to this kind of event, while some would want to be with their loved ones, others would just like to live out their inner most darkest fantasies. With the fear of having no tomorrow, it is frightening what some people would do, for one simple fact...because they can. Working at the observatory, young Kitsias is jamming along with one of his favorite songs as an alarm starts going off. Never hearing an alarm like this before, he checks all of the charts that he can, but cannot figure out what is happening until he sees it through the telescope. Seeing a meteor coming directly towards the planet, he calls it in, but is greeted by the military instead of his boss. Not really understanding what is happening to him, he is held at the station, but winds up making himself indispensable when the General comes down to evaluate the situation. Lieutenant Commander Chase Seward is out to have a nice quiet night with one of his men, just a couple of drinks and nothing else. Seeing a beautiful woman sitting alone in a booth, he is introduced to the woman and finds out that she is one of the top minds, below the ocean. Marissa Knoxx starts off as not being interested in Chase's advances, but by the end of the night, she is ready to let her guard down and compare notes about the ocean bottom. But before the two are able to make their intentions a reality, they are both picked up by the Marines who have been charged with getting them to their submarine to try and save the world. After General Masterson finds out that the world’s defensive measures will not work he has to depend on the young mind of Kitsias. Kitsias is not only a young man that works in the observatory, he is also one of the top young minds on the planet and has a plan that could save the world from the large rock that is hurling towards it. Wanting to cause massive earthquakes to make the earth shift off of its axis to avoid the oncoming collision, Masterson waits to see what happens with their nuclear response. As the main meteor is diverted from its course, there are two fragments that have broken off and are now moving at a much faster pace towards the earth. Knowing that they are not in the clear, Masterson has to depend on two of the smartest people he knows to save the world from its impending doom. This is a fun movie as you get to witness problems above and below the water when it comes to everyone’s stories. As the Earth falls into alignment with the sun, moon and the asteroid, all kinds of events happen on the surface of the planet, but that is not where it stops as the ocean floor seems to light up as well. Without taking the proper precautions to make sure that their plan will work, it is amazing to see what problems the groups will face. Watching volcanoes erupt on the surface and turning that into a main storyline made me a little bit giddy, as I am always a sucker for them. I did enjoy how the story played out in the end, as you never know what is going to happen with a bunch of throwaway characters that you only expect to see once or twice in the movie, but they really do come through. Happy Viewing.
