Written by ShaeI’ve not been able to get out as much as I would like to, and that has meant the amount of movies I’ve seen has dwindled. However, there are some out there I just had to make time for. Kingsmen: The Secret Service is the movie I have been looking forward to the most since the start of the year. I’ve been excited about this movie since I saw the first trailer, Mattie was just as excited, if not more, and with its release this weekend, we had to see it as soon as we could. Bonus to living with your best friend is waking up and going “Dude, movie.” Anddddd less than an hour later you’re at the movies! Kingsmen: The Secret Service is a film adaptation of the comic The Secret Service. Which we totally did not go to the bookstore looking for said comic after the movie...sadly, they didn’t have it. But the Internet most likely does. This film….seriously, this film. I don’t know what to say. Guys, there have been few movies to leave me in utter awe. I am still sitting here in astonishment of the movie. To say I’ll be seeing it again would be an understatement. I wish I could own it now. Don’t worry; there will be no spoilers from me on this film. I truly feel this is a movie that needs to be seen and seen again. We’re introduced to a couple of our main characters from the start. When we hit a forward jump and meet our protagonist, Eggy (yes, for real), and the resulting events are the best spy movie I have ever seen. This movie is a turning point in the genre. At least, that is my personal opinion. The training our Kingsmen (and women, thankyouverymuch) is pretty intense. From nearly drowning, to jumping out of planes, to learning teamwork, this is not an agency for the light of heart. The best of the best are picked. With the candidates dwindling, there is also the imminent threat of a baddy, or a very dedicated person. What I loved best about this movie is how it brought back the classic villain. An antagonist, so devoted to his beliefs, he doesn’t see himself as a villain. In fact, Valentine is the hero of his story. This movie has plenty of classic spy themes with some classically awesome spy gadgets…. If you’re only seeing one movie this weekend, I highly recommend this film. It’s fun, action packed, and filled with the adventure so many of us have been craving. Believe me, you’ll be left wanting more.
