Written by Scott EdwardsWanting to put family first in every situation is what most people want to do, but sometimes there is not a way to. When it could result in losing your job, you have to give a moment to think twice about how dire the situation is. Not saying that it is bad to think about what will happen after you take care of your emergency, it is always good to be able to plan ahead as you never know what is going to happen next in life. A couple strong nights of meteor showers have taken their toll on Earth as fires are starting to erupt everywhere. Not knowing what is causing this, the top military scientists have been tracking something much more dangerous heading towards earth and it is a planetary killer. An asteroid the size of Texas is heading towards the Earth and there is only one way to save the planet and that is to drill. Sending a team of top trained soldiers into space with the most advanced drilling equipment, along with the newest ship ever designed is the way the powers that be have chosen to save our world and with that, Captain Wheeler is put back in charge. The opportunity to save the world is one he could not pass up and with the promise of a huge pay off upon his team's return, neither could they. Although this is not a fighting mission, it is one that will go down in the books forever as they save the world. As they approach the falling rock, they notice that it is slowing down and that it seems to hold many more secrets than their previous intel has provided. Chris Meher has his own problems as he is working in the fire house at an advanced age. At least that is what his men are telling him, and although he is able to handle himself, he will not allow anyone to show him up. When the asteroid has stopped and found its orbit around the planet, he quickly finds out that there is something that he has never expected to see in his lifetime at his door step. Only wanting to get to his daughter, Chris has to battle the military along with a new race that he has never encountered before to ensure her safety. But when she is zapped right in front of his very eyes, Chris thinks that all is lost, but will find out soon that there might just still be something that he can do. Age of Tomorrow follows two different groups that are striving for the same result, the safety of the planet. When Captain Wheeler and his team discover that the falling meteor is actually a battle station of sorts, they transport to an alien world and although they have no chance in getting home, they will still do everything within their power to ensure the safety of the other humans that are being held captive on the distant land. Chris Meher is trying to keep everyone in the city safe as fires keep popping up around the city, but once alien ships start hitting the streets, he has to focus all of his attention on getting to his daughter before something happens to her. Meeting up with the military, Chris is able to get intel about what is really happening and that there is a chance that the people he previously thought were dead may still have a shot at getting home, albeit a slim one. I was impressed by the movie and let me tell you why. It is a hybrid of some of the finest alien and action movies that we have all enjoyed through the years. I would call out Armageddon, Independence Day, and any movie that has aliens experimenting on humans (no anal probes). You put all of these stories together and find a way to harness the raw human emotion of what the situation is bringing down on people, and you have a good movie on your hands. It is not always about the lead actor, maybe not always about the special effects, or about the story, but it is about the performances that are delivered in the movie, that that is one thing that comes out in this one. Happy Viewing.
