Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...A case that's seemingly normal! For once, this episode didn't make me cry, or feel like crying….it did make me angry at John Winchester though. But, hey! It's important to have a normal case once in a while. Especially when flashbacks are involved and we get a little more insight into the world of Sam and Dean Winchester's childhood. The boys get called in to investigate a strange murder on a farm. Only, Dean know's the guy that owns it, and the farm is a place for troubled youth's to go instead of jail time. How does Dean know this? Because when Dean was 16, he spent 2 months there. Why? Because he gambled away food money and was caught stealing peanut butter and bread from a local store. John decided to leave him there for two months, and shipped 12 year-old Sam off to Bobby's (such good parenting there.) For Dean, the 2 months are a chance at a normal life. He gets comfortable, bonds with the gentle farm owner (Sonny), and sees what its like to have a normal father figure. Flash to present day and things aren't all that normal. One of Sonny's adult helpers was killed by a tractor that hadn't worked in years. It sounds, and looks, like a ghost haunting. While Sam and Dean are there, another helper is killed, and a kid injured. Also, Dean's busy dealing with his memories of the place, and of Robin. Robin, just happens to be his age, runs a diner, in town, and was the girl Dean dated while there. She does, indeed, remember him. He did leave the night of the big dance without a single word or reason…tensions mount on that front, but are cut short by the appearance of a very angry, very malicious, ghost in the kitchen. Sam is the one to figure out the ghost's origin. Timmy, the small boy, newest arrival, and orphan, is being 'possessed' (in a way) by his deceased mother. The two were in a car accident that lead to her saving him before burning to death in the car. Since then, she's stuck to him; protecting him from any and everything. There is no salt-and-burn this time. Dean talks Timmy into convincing the ghost to leave, to move on. Surprisingly, that actually works. For once, there is a bit of a happy ending. Sonny let's the kid stay, there's only two casualties, and Robin and Dean find their closure… As it turns out, all those years ago, when John showed back up for Dean; Sonny offered to chase John off…but Dean chose to go with because John had Sam with him. Dean left with his father for the sake of his brother; sacrificing his own happiness. Which seems to be a major recurring theme with this show….
