What’s a girl to do at 4am when she can’t sleep? Why, look up geeky inspired wedding rings of course! This has rapidly become one of my favorite past times since it include two hobbies of mine: looking up shiny objects and nerding out about weddings. I don’t know why I love weddings. I think it’s because I love, love. Plus, I mean, come on. There seems to be a revolution in the air with us nerds and geeks. We’ve stopped hiding, and why shouldn’t that translate into our love lives as well? I think this is the part where my hopeless romanticism is bleeding into my work. These rings are just a fraction of what I found, but I admittedly fell in love with them right off the bat. Oddly, I was searching for a set of Avengers inspired rings that I had found quite a while ago. While I didn’t find what I was looking for (yet), I did find some rings that took my breath away. All these rings were found on CustomMade.com. This site allows various artists and people to come together to create something as stunning as well, these rings. Thankfully, we’re able to order the rings on this site, as well as make some tweaks of our own. As a hardcore Assassin's Creed fan, I may have squeaked when I saw this ring. It was designed with the game in mind, as the symbols of the Assassins can be seen etched out on the sides of the ring. It’s cast out of palladium; with a center square cut diamond. Birthstones adorn either side of the stunning inlayed center diamond, but can be replaced with any gem as desired. I don’t know any Assassin's Creed fan that would actually say no if someone proposed to them with that ring. Of course, ring size is required to have one made of your very own, and that can sometimes be tricky, which is why, ladies, it’s wise to know your size and make sure your best friend does too. Just, you know, as to not ruin any surprises. Currently this ring can run over $3,500, but it is well worth is, in my opinion, considering the gorgeousness of its design. I have shared some Zelda inspired rings in the past, and well, who can blame me? Zelda was a very popular game when I was growing up. I’ve not played it myself in years, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it, especially with a ring like this. Made in White Gold, the details of this Zelda inspired ring don’t go unnoticed by any fan. The heart in the center is to resemble the heart containers Link carries. The heart is lined with imitation aquamarine gemstones, centering a lab created ruby in the center and accented on the sides. Yes, that is a Triforce snuck into the sides of the band; this is a ring princess Zelda would love herself. The ring can be made out of different materials, as all are custom made. So, if you’re worried about the gems or colored metal of the ring, don’t be! Starting at $600, this ring has the ability to be as custom as you and the artist can make it. After all, it’s not always about spending a fortune to see the smile on her face. Right about now you guys are probably like ‘Shae! Do you even look at prices when you’re looking at these rings!’ And, to answer that, no. No I do not. It’s not always about how much is being spent, or even the type of gemstones within a ring that catches my eye. What I’m looking for is something so uniquely geeky, that anyone can look at it and have a true appreciation. I’m not a jeweler myself, but I know that high priced items don’t always mean quality. These are works of art. Case and point, this stunning Sonic Screwdriver ring. Doctor Who fans everywhere need to stare at this ring. I’ve seen many a TARDIS ring, but never a Sonic Screwdriver. How uniquely amazing is this? The best part? This ring is completely customizable, from the metal to the stones; you get to decide the level of detail that goes into this ring. It looks like a Sonic Screwdriver! I’m in serious awe of this ring. Any Doctor asking his companion to join them on a life journey should give serious consideration into this band. The solitaire in the middle can be any gem, synthetic or genuine, and you can even order it without a center gem and place your own in there. The description was kind enough to state the dimensions of the centerpiece, and warn that if a gem is not selected it will be sent without one. Kind of really awesome. This varies in price, of course, ranging from $195 (silver with no stone) to $840 (platinum with a stone) and doesn’t give prices for which stone. Have to admit, throwing a diamond in the center makes for a gorgeous engagement ring. On the other hand, you could put a blue or green gem or even a birthstone in the middle and have it be just a beautiful ring. And right about now I’m realizing I totally lied to you guys. Not all these rings were found on CustomMade.com. Okay, all those were. Earlier, I was searching through WhenGeeksWed.com, because like I said I am a hopelessly nerdy romantic who searches for awesome engagement rings when she can’t sleep at 4am. I’m starting to understand why I’m single. This ring comes from that site, or well, is featured there. It’s a custom piece by Tayasa Mizuno and is a 14K white gold Spiderman ring. Now, I’m not a give fan of our web-slinger. But, he has his purposes and many people adore him. It’s a gorgeous ring with a square solitaire diamond, inlayed with sapphires and rubies (I love rubies, personally). It’s currently priced at $5,500 and is found on TakayasCustomJewelry.com along with many others, and of course the ability to make your very own design.
