Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Last week on Gotham, we learned some villain origin stories, reimagined, are pretty spectacular. This thrilling conclusion to the Scarecrow's birth fueled some serious fangirling. Not to mention, confirmed my hope that we were getting that storyline. It seems Crane's madness started with his father. The whole thing was a way to cure fear. In order to do that, he needed a highly concentrated dose of the fear and stress causing hormones. Thanks to two murders, professor Crane got what he wanted and started testing it on himself. All because his wife died in a house fire and he was too afraid to try and save her. Once the testing is complete on himself, or as he claimed to be free of fear, he turns to his young son Johnny. Surely that can't end well. It never does. But in the mean time, Gordon and Tompkins are heating up. Seems our steamy new couple are doing just fine. Except that Leslie now works at the GCPD as the new Medical Examiner. Unlike the last guy, she's got no problem with Nygma hanging about. She finds him harmless. Gordon isn't so sure, but he accepts in. Sadly, no word on Harvey and his new girl crush, but hey, they might end up together. He did save her from drowning. At least Penguin is doing well. Falcone gave Penguin Fish Mooney's old club. He revamps the whole thing, making sure it's nice for the reopening. He doesn't have the clientele that Fish had, but who knows. So long as Maroni stops trying to kill him, which he does, for the time being. As long as Falcone is alive, Penguin is all right...and Fish? She's locked up in some Pirate prison. The short time she's there, she manages to become the leader. How is she still alive? That's a good question.... Finally, Harvey and Jim get a lead on Professor Crane. They find the old Crane house where his wife died and storm in. Crane isn't about to give up. He takes a syringe of the chemical crap he's been injecting himself with and over fills it. He and Johnny make a run for it before they're arrested. But, Bullock and Gordon are hot on their tail. Crane injects the entire vial of stuff into his son and is shot by Gordon, killed as he goes to attack our detectives. Johnny doesn't escape unharmed. He's sadly kept in a constant state of fear, hallucinating horrific things. And thus, the Scarecrow is born.... Tonight! What awaits us? Possibly the Joker?
