Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Losing a loved one is never easy, especially if it is a parent or a relative. With all of the things that they have taught you over your years, it is a shame to see that their teaching will end. What you do with what they taught you is where they will still live on, especially if you are willing to walk the path they hoped that you would in life. It is difficult to continue looking forward without someone there to point you in the right direction, but that is one of the things that they would always want you to do and instead of grieving, you should celebrate what they meant to you in life. The small town of Pretty Lake has a population of eight thousand people, ranged between adults and their kids. Everybody knows everybody and there are next to no secrets to be kept, but there might still be one. Wiley is pregnant and nobody knows who the father is, but she is ok with that. Leaving high school for greater endeavors, her friend Adam wants to know what is on her horizon. Not willing to spill the beans yet, she keeps him in the dark as she has plans of giving up her baby once it is born. Around town however, there is a virus attacking the residents and nobody knows what it is. Without warning, adults are dropping like flies and even though there is a task force working on the problem, they are nowhere near finding an explanation. As each of the infected has not shown any signs of sickness, it is next to impossible to figure out who will be taken down next and the town starts to panic. The government moves in and sets up barricades to block off the town from the rest of the country to quarantine the virus and limit its spread, but a few of the residents are not going to lie down and wait to die since they do not know what they are up against, much less if there is a cure. As more parents start to die in the town, more of the youth is starting to foam at the mouth for answers, but with all communication cut off to the outside world, they are left on their own. With no cops around in the area to speak of, Pat and Ronnie take to the streets and decide to steal a car, but they find out that not every authority has been taken out by whatever is killing off the town yet and are confronted with shotguns pointed at their heads. While they are able to leave the scene of the crime unharmed, more people are dying off, but a new life has found its way into the crazy town of Pretty Lake and seems to be doing fine…for now. What an opening to a series and I wish it did not have to end. I am very intrigued to find out what is killing off the residents of Pretty Lake, but have a feeling it will be a couple episodes before we figure it out. With the only victims of the virus being over the age of twenty two, it looks like the kids are going to have to keep the small town together and find a way to survive on their own. The quarantine of the town is going to cause many problems for the survivors as even if they try to approach the fence, they are targeted with the orders shoot to kill being passed on. What will happen in Pretty Lake? I have no idea, but will keep watching to find out.
